Dropped. Fucking pretentious garbage now I know this anime's reputation is a meme. I swear to god this shit made me so fucking angry. DON'T FUCKING INCORPORATE THESE THINGS INTO ANIME.
it's NOT something intended to be dumb fun like anime should ever bring up. Whoever the fuck wrote this shit put it in just because it sounds meaningful or cool. But it's not.
I'm going to be real for a second. Even if the premise of how entropy works in the Madoka universe is a bit wacky, it's internally consistent and that's all you should care about.
>getting mad about entropy
>not enjoying the suffering of little girls
Get a load of this guy.
We truly haven't watched the same show. The autism is truly strong here.
>this anime uses words I cannot comprehend
>better be mad because it shows me how dumb I am and I don't like it
Is OP literally mad because a show used a word he doesn't know? Holy shit OP, are you like 11? Because when I was 11, and I saw a word in a book that I didn't know, I didn't throw the book out the window. I just looked that shit up.
Cultured vegetables are actually a thing though, it just means you've part fermented them (like sauerkraut). Emu meatballs are also presumably a none-pointless buzzword foodstuff.
Fuck you don't talk shit Ume-sensei's art.
Yeah anon, I'm sure all kinds of people eat emu meatballs all the time. Why eat cheap, readily available, low fat turkey meatballs when you can pointlessly search all over your area for ground emu meat that probably costs four times as much for the same dietary benefits.
Calling your pickled vegetables "cultured" is also completely normal, it's not at all like he's trying to dress up the fact that you basically just need to eat plants all day to stay thin without exercising.
Yes. Madoka is best girl. Especially her ass is nice.
OP is too newfag to know about the big entropy craze back then.
Wait until he finds out about lolfangs and ahoge.
>Do you think you're really sticking it to people for being fans of two of the most popular and successful series ever?
You mean Madoka Magica and Monogatari?
I always interpreted Kyubey's entropy scare to refer to the heat death of the universe.
If so, this was hardly an imminent crisis. The universe is only 13.8 billion years old, and entropy won't start to become a problem for another Quadrillion years or so (no new stars will be born after that). Even then that is nowhere near "heat death" as far as the universe is concerned.
Our own sun will be gone in only 6 billion years.
Kyubey is trying to prevent something that will occur long after all life in the universe is gone and no galaxies remain. It is about as much of a non-issue as you get.
>anime must be dumb fun
Where the hell did you get this idea from?
Its not trying to push any philisophical idea, but its not torture porn either and its certainly not pointless. The show is a tragedy. It wants you to cry, and it wants to shock you. In order to do this, it gives you time to get to know the characters. They aren't anything special, but they exist and have their sad backstories that explain their personalities. They serve their purpose. Madoka must learn from her friends' mistakes and grow up in the process, using her selflessness for power. And while all this happens, you get fancy music and animation.
I've figured it out. OP is just extremely asspained about characters he likes dying and made this thread to cry about it but at the last second he got scared that people would laugh at him for being a big baby so he tried to make it about entropy instead.
Dropped. Fucking pretentious garbage now I know this movie's reputation is a meme. I swear to god this shit made me so fucking angry. DON'T FUCKING INCORPORATE THESE THINGS INTO MOVIES.
But galaxies coming to an end is just a result of the suparmassive black holes growing. This will happen when the universe is not even .001% of the way towards entropy.
When black holes "evaporate" and photons have all decayed (10E100 years from now) and you are still only 10% of the way towards heat death.
Stars dying out and black holes forming will end all life long before entropy becaomes an issue. Kyubey was not trying to stop that process, or if he was it was wrong to refer to it as entropy.
We can at least all agree that pic related was best girl right?
>Making something cute makes it easier to get attached to something so that when something bad happens its all the more impactful.
>And cutesy characters getting torn in blender is great combination.
It has the opposite effect for me though. I would have liked it more if the proportions were more like the monogatari series, but with the style/colouring of madoka.
And I don't really know the genders of a lot of anime staff so my bad.
It was also in Star Driver, IIRC.
But just because something is big amongst anime studios doesn't mean it automatically sells. Pic related.
The entropy spiel was really contrived. For an audience that is already suspending their disbelief regarding magic and witches a more fantastical explanation of their existence would have served just well.
Though it's not the first or last time writers freely use concepts they don't understand.
>So you are saying everything will get sucked in some black hole?
Each galaxy has a super massive blackholes at it's center. Galaxies collide with otehr galaxies and they absorb even more mass. Stars are constantly devoured.
I was surprised to see entropy coming up in some japan anime, not to mention it was a vital point of the story isntead of just some nerd character showing off his intelligence like A/Z Inaho.
I mean sure he could have just studied it up on some website but was it only me getting surprised? Was it totally expected of him to use things like this?
I was introducted to it when I was studying thermodynamics in university and didn't know about it before at all. So they actually teach those concepts in high school in japan huh?
Black holes draw things in and get bigger and draw things in more and get even bigger and draw things in even more. They also have ridiculously long lifespans. They will eventually be the only major structures left.
>Leaving the shitposting aside how the hell did Urobutchi come out with Entropy
I believe we learned this in the 10th Grade here in Canadaland. I would imagine thermodynamics are part of the standard curriculum in most first world countries.
In America a lot of science seems to be neglected, or it is optional. They have more important things to learn such as African American history and how George Washington crossed a river and invented FREEDOM.
I see based anons, I will try hard to get on your levels.
It's only normal a based writer like urobuther can only be appreciated by based viewers like you.
Over trillions of years there will be more and more collisions. They are all constantly absorbing mass.
Eventually the universe runs out of raw materials to make new stars and only black holes remain.
>new stars are born right as we speak
Yes, from material that already exists, not from nothingness.
> that's not how the universe will end but rather a possibility of how will end, there are other theories on it's death
Yes, obviously, but it's quite a strong theory.
>I see based anons, I will try hard to get on your levels.
it's important to not lose hope
>I'm retarded so everyone has to be retarded too
>new stars are also born right as we speak
The raw materials to make new stars are also being consumed by black holes. Over the next few trillion years the rate of new star births will decline and the universe will eventually enter the cleverly named "black hole era".
Anon, can you feel joy in your life?
Have you ever considered that Madoka might just be fun to watch, despite the narrative being
Or are you one of those guys that feel the need to shit on fun things for the sake of shitting on fun things?
I was not a regular here at that time but Sure I can expect it.
Still the problem was that I was owerwhelmed by some Japan anime even though I'm supposed to be a STEMfag. At that time I was still a freshman but they did use a term that I didn't know about before.
I kinda thought maybe it was the same for the most of anons but it seems it was just me living in some retarded 3rd world country.
in this thread we obey the laws of thermodynamics
They are statistical in nature, so one instance of quantum tunneling or something that would appear to reduce the number of microstates in a system doesn't actually break them when you look at the 10^10 times it didn't happen.
I think that was the point. Ume's art style was chosen for the show because it seems very simplistic and normal for a magical girl anime so that urobuchi's plot twist would have a bigger effect and contrast
>I'm pretty sure laws of thermodynamics were invalidated by Quantum Mechanics.
>To understand the connection between entanglement and negative entropy we have to go back to Schrödinger’s view of entanglement. When two systems are entangled, we have complete information about their joint state, but have no information about their individual states. If we are erasing the state, as a whole we need not generate entropy (since the state has zero entropy), but if we erase subsystems individually, then each will contribute to entropy generation. The difference between the global and local erasing is negative entropy. To rephrase, if we have to erase some information, it helps to know whether this information arises from the entanglement with another system. Then, by invoking the other system in the erasure, we can actually erase and the environment can lose entropy.
>Landauer’s erasure therefore acquires a new dimension when entanglement is allowed, but even then it still remains fully compliant with the second law. For better or for worse, the entropy of the whole universe still cannot be decreased even with the full assistance of the quantum magic of entanglement and negative entropies of quantum objects.
Also I thought at first they were just using buzz words that they picked up of wikipedia but it was actually incorporated into story awesomely so I was overhelmed. Based Butcher.
Except they've been doing this for a while. It's very possible that when Joan of Arc contracted heat death was several billion years closer than it is now, but they pushed it back thanks to the many magical girls between then and now.
This is true
Most cute girl comedy shows revolve around some percentage of them being shitheads and the others shit for brains
People autistic enough to have middle school waifus probably don't care for their characterizations or misdeeds in the slightest
Disregarding OP getting mad about a word he doesn't know nor can comprehend what 'entropy' means, OP is right when he typed Madoka Magica is pretentious tripe.
There are Faustian themes within Madoka Magica and Urobuchi didn't know of Faust, he know of it like a Cliffnotes version of the story but he wasn't well versed. Also, a lot of fans was fascinated with the mechanica of Homura time abilities and the shield pkus the hour glass and how that work and he stated he didn't think of how it work, he only wrote the story.
There is likely a high possibility for Madoka Magica season two with focus on different characters like the daily life of Mami or Junko past before she birthed Madoka. Basically, Magica Quartet want a slice of life version of Madoka Magica.
liberal arts fags who lurk /sci/ to steal their secretsdon't fuck around.
Honestly, I think LaTeX on most boards would just be horrifically abused and lead to cancer.
InuCurry added the Faust references on their own, just like the Nutcracker motif in Rebellion, or for that matter the witches themselves.
>hurr durr cliff notes butcher is a hack
Homu's time shield mechanics are irrelevant to the story itself. The shield itself was just a prop designed by the production staff once the show was already in production.
>hurr durr scriptwriter didnt design every minute visual detail what a hack
They are retards, you can't attribute everything in a big project to 1 person.
But you were saying that just because the main script writer didn't read enough books the show is somehow bad. I judge a show on its own merits not how many books some production member read.
It never ceases to amaze me how autistic people will get over this, although not OP here because this is clearly the pretending to be retarded card to start the thread.
I mean, it's just a way to provide Kyubey a background for his actions so that he does not pass off as a villainous figure but instead a morally ambiguous one.
Had Shaft changed their motivation from saving the universe from entropy to saving their race and their neighbors from depleting their reserves and presumably leading to the death of billions, it would not have changed a single thing in the show's main themes and neither on how Kyubey has a legitimate reason for running and keeping the MG system around.
You sound a lot like Tomino complaining about Evangelion, and how mecha is supposed to be. He never really got that Eva is it's own thing- and that it's not entertainment, it's a lesson.
Ah, I should recount my previous statement Madoka Magica itself isn't bad , the story is intriguing for a magical girl anime. Sure, there existed other darker magical anime precedent to Madoka, however, Madoka revamped it.
And I suppose Gen isn't pretentious he gave credit to where it was due
>Q: Madoka seems to be inspired by Goethe's Faust and in Psycho-Pass you quoted works from Max Weber and other German writers. How did you discover them and how did they inspire you?
>A: The designers from SHAFT thought of inserting the quotes from Faust. I only noticed them when people approached me asking about them. My main inspirations are eroge and classical literature.
>it's NOT something intended to be dumb fun like anime should ever bring up.
Anime is just animation that comes out of Japan, and animation is a huge medium.
I have no opinion on Madoka itself because I frankly don't have much interest in watching it but saying that all anime should be mindless entertainment is stupid, especially when some of the most interesting works to come out of Japan touch on deeper themes than flashy battles and which girl is the best.
