Is Ichika retarded?
Or is he actually pretending?
Maybe he has a sadistic pleasure seeing girls go desperate for him without having their feelings returned. He's laughing his ass off behind the scenes
When you have social phobia and feel threatened by sexual advances, your brain can filter them out.
He acts precisely like such a person would react in reality. They get into situations where they don't know what to do because their filters (and their fears) won't let them fully comprehend why somebody would approach them with bare tits. A positive response isn't possible. They have already filtered out all the signs that the other person might be interested in them (for fear of being wrong), so the only possible interpretation is that they are not meant to see those breasts. Social phobia does the rest and you go into full panic mode without ever understanding what actually happened.
Harem characters are reflecting the readers' and authors' own actions. These guys, otaku and hikkis, all have some measure of social phobia. This was not an intentional characterization. It's just what they know with the difference that in harem stories the girls don't give up after a single unsuccessful flirt.
He's aware, but considering what happened the last time he tried to pick a girl, he is keeping a low profile.
I want to read that. I've read firsthand accounts of people making exactly those sorts of misunderstandings, and I believe them. The simple truth is that for some people the notion that a member of the opposite sex could be attracted to you is inconceivable and scary. Sometimes it's easer to just ignore your hunch and hope it goes away.
I'd honestly like to see this.
We never get to see male abusing female animes.
I need an alpha beta female who get's into perverted situations while not being a slut and also being abused by the people who love her.
Do you need to post downscales you found on facebook?
I mean, does that shit look pretty to you?
Pretty much this. I'd love to see a harem anime where it turned out that the protagonist knew all the girls were after his dick the whole time and just didn't want to rock the boat by actually picking one, so he played dumb.
>I'd love to see a harem anime where it turned out that the protagonist knew all the girls were after his dick the whole time and just didn't want to rock the boat by actually picking one, so he played dumb
Not that it helps since they jack him off attack him without his consent anyway.
>We never get to see male abusing female animes.
There is literally one airing right now
It's pretty much the same shit just the opposite. Nothing of value.
I think he's supposed to be written as a clueless guy because most high school boys are actually oblivious to what girls say and do.
The problem is in anime the girls are so expressive and and obvious that you'd have to be retarded to not know what she means.
>most high school boys are actually oblivious to what girls say and do.
Jesus fucking Christ, where do you live? Even elementary school kids know about sex and would get it when someone was hitting on them with the intensity of a thousand suns like they do in IS.
He's simply retarded. Or gay.
The later would make the show more enjoyable.
>Man, there are full grown adults that wouldn't recognise this. It's not that unusual.
You browse /r9k/ too much
Eh, I'd say it would be pretty unusual for someone to remain completely dense after being hit on to the degree that the IS girls hit on Ichika.
Then again, girls hitting on guys to the extent that the IF girls do- especially the sorts of guys who are socially incompetent enough to not get the signals- is also pretty rare.
>tfw I understood the advances girls made on me in high school but was too socially retarded to reciprocate because of that gnawing fear that Ill spill my spaghetti all over the place
You'd be surprised. You know that whole bit where a girl asks a guy out and he misunderstands it as shopping? The very one used in IS, in fact? I once saw a firsthand account of a guy who admitted to making that exact blunder.
For some people, the notion that a woman is attracted to you is just too alien to really process, and your brain will jump through all sorts of hoops to ignore or deny it.
Are there any LNs/shows where the MC actually is this kind of person? Either intentionally an asshole who strings people along or someone who is just devoted to one person, yet is aware of the other girls?
>ugly girls hit on me in high school
I just pretended to not notice honestly.
Is this what teenage girls in Japan wet themselves for?
You were just a fag and still are.
Or you dated a really shitty person and are being too narrow minded towards relationships and girls in general because of a single experience. Dont fall into that pit anon, Ive been there.
I'm pretty sure it's what teenage girls (and adult women) everywhere wet themselves for.
Holy shit that anime. Ive never laughed so hard.
>mfw they call her bitch-chan
It's more like this; when I had no experience to draw on I could fantasize about how nice it would be to have a girlfriend. Then I got one and realised what a relationship actually entailed, and it was stuff I had no knowledge of or desire to do. I found myself wondering what the hell you even do in a relationship (besides the obvious). I realised that I could be happier pursuing my own interests than if I were making time for someone else. Life's short enough already, no need to give yourself more work.
It sounds self absorbed (and it is), but it's just me and where I'm coming from.
So you did have a shitty experience with it. Still man if you land someone amazing its kind of worth it.
>I could be happier pursuing my own interests than if I were making time for someone else
Any girl completely keeping you from them isnt a good partner.
>Any girl completely keeping you from them isnt a good partner
Fucking this. If your woman is holding you back form something (provided it's not something negative) then she's not worth your time. A good one would support you.
It wasn't a bad experience, it just made me realise that it wasn't what I wanted.
>Still man if you land someone amazing its kind of worth it.
>Any girl completely keeping you from them isnt a good partner.
This is a nice thought, but I can't imagine being engaged with anyone that doesn't share my interests, since they're all I care about. And girls that share my range of interests are a) rare, b) hide their powerlevel and are thus impossible to find, c) are usually shy and impossible to talk to and d) are unattractive (though this a distant concern).
>tfw you know a girl that shares my interests and almost looks like pic related
Good for you. No, really. It's nice to be able to talk to girls and nice to talk about things you enjoy.
I just don't want to comb the earth hoping to luck out into someone like that. And if one does show up a relationship is unlikely anyway because I won't be able to conceive of her liking me, no matter how irrational that may be.
You depress me anon.
That girl I mentioned is already engaged anyway.
Even better! I once had a ladyfriend that was engaged. I could converse with her without fear since she was already engaged and was therefore off the table as a romantic option. In fact, automatically dismissing any girl I met as such made it stupid easy to talk with them because there was no failure condition.
And anyway, what's so depressing about living life for the pleasure of it? Being single would bother me a whole lot less if everyone I met didn't keep insisting that there was something wrong with me and I needed to go to parties and date girls to have a meaningful existence.
There's some interest, but no will to translate. There's like a chapter or two done if you want.
>D-dont be mean.
Because no matter where you go...there you are.
>You pick one girl, others would put you into your demise
I thought everyone should already know this as a fact happening in IS just like what >>132164360 is actually trying to convey
Or is there a scenario where he can pick one girl and ended up survived in the end?
>inb4 choosing his sister
Houki and Rin was shown to be withdraw peacefully (albeit reluctantly and really sad) when they thought Ichika finally settled with Tatenashi in the audio drama. And these two is supposed to be the most violent-prone among them.
I think the only one who would have problems with Ichika choosing somebody else would be Charlotte. She staked everything on her three-year "can't touch me" stay in the IS Academy on Ichika's words to the extent that she outed Charles as a scam which would kill her chances to go back to France (forget about letting her father's company die, she made a whole country a laughing stock).
I think it would be less of a concern for Charlotte than those other two. For her it's probably more than enough to just have a friend that gives a shit about her. The three year thing was never meant to be anything more than a stopgap till she could find a better option.
There is a degree to which I can't blame him because he had this fucking bitch as a childhood friend.
You use that which you grow up around as a measure to understand people/situations and with this cunt around it is hardly surprising he can't understand basic interpersonal shit.
>less of a concern for Charlotte
>more than enough to just have a friend that gives a shit about her
You make it sound like Charlotte is fine with just being friends with Ichika even though she actively pursues him. She even throws her logic out of the windows when she saw Laura forcibly kissed him.
>three year thing was never meant to be anything more than a stopgap till she could find a better option
I wish that there are a few scenes that shows Charlotte actually doing this. Then again, knowing how Izuru writes, her circumstances will be magically solved later. After all, she didn't get any flak in the school with all her flirtations with the girls (thanks, Noveltroll).
It's a bit of hokey eastern wisdom. It's deliberately vague, but I think the interpretation he was shooting for was that you'll never be able to get away from yourself, so if you're an asshole then you'll always have to put up with an asshole.
I didn't explain it very well, but I'm bad at Confucious.
It's avoiding getting murdered, anon.
All of the bitches, save for Laura are not willing to share. Tapping one of them can lead to death, WW3 and crazy scientist popping up.
Onee-san or homo route is best way for survival.
>All of the bitches, save for Laura are not willing to share
I'm interested in how you arrive in this conclusion. Can you share your reasons?
Also, you're referring only to the main five and not counting the Sarashiki sisters, right?
Yeah, she wants him, but I think she's got the presence of mind to cope if he openly takes that option off the table. At least I think she does. It's been a while, maybe her recently written self is more stupid yandere now.
Funnily enough she wasn't as bad as a kid. Basically, her brief friendship with him was the only nice thing in her otherwise shitty childhood, so she clung to it obsessively to keep afloat, only to build an unrealistic idol of him in her brain. Also, she coped with her frustrations in the interim by venting them in a combat sport, making her short tempered and prone to violence.
She's a total bitch, but her damage as much a product of a bad childhood as his is.
>It's been a while, maybe her recently written self is more stupid yandere now.
But, everyone in Ichika's harem is a stupid possessive self-proclaimed-girlfriend yandere while retaining a little bit of their original traits once Yumizuru Izuru is done with them.
Charlotte turning into the Angel of Death when Laura kissed Ichika was removed from the anime but the end of S1 has her joining the hunt for Ichika when he has some alone time with Houki. Her being a stupid yandere like the others isn't recent.
> the end of S1 has her joining the hunt for Ichika when he has some alone time with Houki
The thing is, I recall everyone else being pissed because he'd snuck off with another girl, and Charlotte being pissed because he'd snuck off without saying anything and worried her.
Anyway, please let's not have this argument again. I'm too tired.
>please let's not have this argument again
Just asking for your explanation/interpretation of things. It's up to you to reply or not.
> everyone else being pissed because he'd snuck off with another girl and Charlotte being pissed because he'd snuck off without saying anything and worried her
Chifuyu wasn't pissed when Ichika snuck off without saying anything and wasn't even worried. This is Chifuyu whose only remaining is Ichika and the same person who forfeited Mondo Grosso for his sake. Also, this was after the events where Ichika was almost died in the encounter with Silver Gospel. Does that make Chifuyu not worried about Ichika?
How come Charlotte has a different reason trying to find Ichika with her IS on and tried shooting him along with the others who are pissed because he's with another girl?
Oooh why am I doing this...
Chifuyu is a sensible grown woman and not an emotionally damaged teenager.
>How come Charlotte has a different reason
Beats me, that was just the dialogue in the scene. Maybe it was coincidence.
>and tried shooting him along with the others
I'm fairly sure she didn't actually shoot him, but I may be misremembering.
>I'm fairly sure she didn't actually shoot him, but I may be misremembering
The anime only showed Cecilia's Blue Tears followed by explosions/gunshots. Same thing happened in the LN. No explicit details that Charlotte shot him. Same thing with Rin and Laura. But, all of them are shown pissed.
Not to mention he's been genderbent and raped, by both himself and kihara. He knows the harem is after him though, and he could have any of them at any time, but he wont cause he's scared it'd break his relationships with everyone and he says it's killing him to resist.
>Or is he actually pretending?
He's pretending to be retarded and knows all the girls are in love with him.
It's just too bad they aren't Chifuyu, because Ichika is, as Houki-pouki said, is an incurable sis-con.
Probably nothing, that's the exact reason he took to Char so quick. He make a point of mentioning to his old mate at one point that it sucks in the academy because the only people around are hormonal girls that treat him like a piece of meat (or a punching bad, as the situation warrants).
Just to be clear, that's from the anime, right? Don't want to get into an argument when not everyone is not in the same page. I don't have access to (nor will bother to look for) it so I will just take your word for it.
>Anger caused by worry is a thing
True. But, who's to say that she's angry only because of that. Again, this depends on personal interpretation and I will go along with you that Charlotte was indeed worried with Ichika.
>He did nearly die not all that long ago
And yet, no one bothered to stop Cecilia pointing her Blue Tears point blank at Ichika. Rin was there but didn't stop Cecilia. Same thing with Charlotte and Laura.
Before we go any further, I need to remind you that we're going to the point of over-analyzation of harem hijinks/gags.
>that's from the anime, right?
>who's to say that she's angry only because of that
I'm sure she's also upset he was with Houki, but apparently that was a secondary concern to his immediate wellbeing.
I guess my issue is that I have to acknowledge the writing of IS sucks and as such tend to maintain a kind of broad strokes interpretation of things using more the core character concepts (as defined by their dialogue & actions) rather than literal interpretation that, for example, Cecelia didn't know a chicken has to be dead before you cook it. I do this not out of denial that the work is terrible (it is) but because I believe it didn't have to be and that a mere modicum of effort would have made it coherent. Hate the player, not the game.
The day when we can use the manga as the primary source for everything can't come soon enough.
Better question: since it's a women dominated world (that doesn't stop them to bowing to the power of dick) how the fuck do things work in Muslim countries?
Surely, those Allah Snackbar guys would go nuts over the idea of women dominating the society.
The answer is that the author made a broad statement about his setting without thinking through the implications, or actually showing them at all. Do you get the impression the world of IS is female dominated? Would you think that if the series hadn't flat out told you? How does a handful of female exclusive superweapons perfectly invert cultural attitudes towards gender literally everywhere on earth in what, a decade?
Anyway, in all likelihood they'd probably find a fundamentalist woman to operate their IS that would be fine with the old ways. Religion never got in the way of ruthless pragmatism.
Don't lump shounen leads like that. Recca is already dead set on Yanagi while Ippo made a girlfriend. Even the king of games is aware of females. Not everyone can be as dumb as Goku. Especially with the snark Ichika presented initially.
While I do think that IS sucks (doubly so if you try to use its own set logic to find contradictions), I still use it to see whether one is talking out of head canon or not.
I find all of the girls equal in terms of how they like Ichika. But, god, how they're depicted seems like he's just good for a trophy husband. Which is why I kinda leaning more on the side characters like Pika-tan who seem to treat Ichika like a normal person all the time.
