Disgusting. Absolutely nothing worthwhile next season.
could have sworn absolute duo was going to be on next season? ill be watching s2 of gate and if i can ever summon the will to finish s1 of assclass i might as well watch s2.
but ill watch a little of everything and pick up the ones i find interesting, might as well, to make the most of my hulu, cr and funimation sub
>could have sworn absolute duo was going to be on next season?
Literally a year late senpai
>Only interesting looking thing has a meme slut in it
Ah well. My favorite shows of this year have meme waifus/husbandos.
Rakugo and Grimgar are more likely than not going to be good.
Boku Dake ga Inai Machi might be good. Dimension W will need to maintain good action to maintain my interest.
KonoSekai, HaruChika and Phantom World probably won't be good, but they might be entertaining.
Otherwise, nothing interests me.
>Not waiting for AOTYAY Keit-ai
Fucking plebs, all of you.
Yeah, but not simply just finger in mouth but the way it's shown in that image. When you treat the girl like an animal on showcase, she has to obey without a word, and you are in full control. She knows you will do horrible things to her and she can't do anything about it.
Ao no kanata no four rhythm (dropped if harem)
Kono subarashi sekai
Musaigen no phanton world
Nurse-witch komugi-chan R
Prince of stride
Shouwa genrock rakugo shinjuu
The major profits from the AssClass anime was chinese streaming and merch.
Was Shokugeki's anime popular in chingchong land?
Huh I didn't know that is happening. Nice.
Double huh. Interested.
>Oh wow. Now that is something. Probably get overlooked like Ore Monogatari due to "looking like fujoshit".
>Boku Dake ga Inai
Well, I will watch as many series next season as I'm watching this season. Still, it's sad that anime is getting worse and worse. One day I'll probably drop anime as a whole and that's kind of sad to think about.
>Sequels and Kyoani are the only thing worth watching.
Meh, Hai to Gensou looks interesting.
Aren't most Winters really below average though.
It doesn't look that bad.
I will watch less than the current season.
That's already way better than Winter 2015, and there't probably half of the final shows lineup at best.
Also, remember there should be a decent amount of Fall leftovers worth watching on top of it.
Its blowing my mind how out of left field it is. A series of comedy, mahou shoujo satire OVA's, spun off from a much darker TV series, is now getting its own TV series more than a decade later. This destroys anything else on the "unlikely to happen" scale, and I am hyped to hear Momoi doing more VA work.
Have fun in the schwarzesmarken threads.
You people say that every season.
Out of the 25 shows on that list, there's probably only one that I don't feel like watching. And that one looks like it's going to be a short, so I might watch it anyways.
I have a feeling a lot of context is missing from this Schwarzenegger thing.
It's in 1983, why does the poster have a robot on it? What's a BETA? Is that the robot on the poster? What's a TSF Squadron? Tactical Special Forces Squadron?
At this point my best guess is that Americans have invented a killer robot called a BETA in 1983 somehow and NATO are fighting the Warsaw Pact with it, and the show is about East Germany being meat shields for the Russians and deep striking at the BETA that have the biggest guns.
>tfw Momoi is in the cast but not voicing Komugi
>Nurse with Komugi chan 2
>FUCKING 2 aka TWO
>"I didn't know it had previous seasons."
>so much garbage
>only one vannilla SoL
anime is dead
Wow, I don't think I've ever been raised up so high just to be dropped so far. What a fucking travesty. It was nice knowing you fellas.
But it's called Nurse witch Komugi chan R, there is no 2.
It's obviously some WW2 esque nazi super science dark fantasy thing like bloodrayne where the nazis survived and created some half vampire half demon robot called the BETA and the rest of the world fights them.
You know the MC of Haruchika is a literal homosexual?
How could the Nazis have survived if there's an East Germany? You bet if the Soviets took half of Germany they wouldn't hesitate to take the other half unless the rest of the Allies already took it.
3D shit, manga is worse than Tokyo Ghoul
>Akagami no Shirayuki-hime
Lerche ruining the source again.
Looks interesting, I know the main guy and girl aren't love interests
Everything else looks like bottom tier trash
>Lux accidentally trespasses in a female dormitory's bathing area, sees the kingdom's new princess Lisesharte naked, and incurs her wrath. Lisesharte then challenges Lux to a Drag-Ride duel.
This seems vaguely familiar somehow...
>And the war is about who was the best before they were killed.
The war will be primarily be about how Beatrix did nothing wrong.
>but not simply just finger in mouth but the way it's shown in that image. When you treat the girl like an animal on showcase, she has to obey without a word, and you are in full control. She knows you will do horrible things to her and she can't do anything about it.
No, you're not the only one.
Yeah, and also give Hocchan a role where she's completely irrelevant, a role to KitaEri where she's bullied by dicks, and a role to Nana where she's getting molested. Oh wait...
>not watching Bahamut for more of Ayumu's delicious character designs
Looks FAR better than autumn so far. Shirayuki-Hime 2 and AssClass 2 are almost guaranteed to be entertaining. Some other shows look also pretty promising. Will check out Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu, Boku Dake ga Inai Machi, Ajin (though it is 3D unfortunately), Dagashi Kashi and Dimension W.
Guess I'll get to watch anime this year after all, other than manga adaptations I've already read.
>Ao no Kanata has Koi Choco designs.
>Will forever remember that bitch winning the Choco.
>Lux accidentally trespasses in a female dormitory's bathing area, sees the kingdom's new princess Lisesharte naked, and incurs her wrath.
Will this shit never end? These series never sell good for fuck's sake.
Like any other season, I'll check out most of the shows and will drop maybe 5 or 6 as time goes on.
Keep telling that to yourself faggot, next season is going to be a thousand times better than the current one.
Seasonal dose of edge
Sounds interesting enough
Sluts and pastry are my favorite things in the world
>Hai to Gensou no Grimgar
The PV reminded me of Log Horizon, so if it doesn't fuck up at the end it might be pretty good.
The animation looks really good in the PV. Also, Chika a cute!
>Kono Subarashi Sekai
Watching it for the chuuni magician.
That's it, fuck the rest.
Dis gunna be gud.
>it actualy somehow looks good to me
>realise its fake
I'm really worried about Gifting, mostly because of the DEEN factor. Plus there's the fact that most of the humor is based around parodying a genre that hasn't really been animated yet. I'll still watch it, but expecations are low.
Also they somehow made best girl look weird; which is a sin I cannot forgive.
Looks like I'm not watching any ongoing anime next season. I'm not the type to say that every season looks bad but this really is awful. I can usually be happy with one or two shows but there is nothing on this list that appeals to me.
Didn't see the first, dropped
They never win. Dropped
(Read comments. See it was a non-starter from the beginning. What's the fucking point then? Dropped twice.)
>need six members
>some chuu2 shit
Code for ass-pulls. Dropped
Old peoples' anime. Dropped
(Joshiraku S2 when?)
Will watch / probably watch:
Gate cour 2
Komugi chan (holy crap another blast from the past)
Durrrrr (been watching it, might as well keep going)
Dagashi Kashi (will give the three episode test)
Holy crap I know half of those right away.
Still needs a Boku no Pico sequel.
I hope my notes make sense. If you're confused. Green means I'm already sold and I'm sticking with it no matter what.Yellow check mark means I'm picking it up with the expectation of enjoying it, Yellow question mark means I'm cautious about it but it might be good. Red means it is probably dogshit for obvious reasons so I won't touch it. Blank means it's a sequel I haven't kept up with.
>Boku Dake ga Inai Machi
>Prince of Stride
Well, looks good. Though I have read Nijiiro Days and it's nice and comfy and all but in the anime version they look Jewish. Just look at those noses.
KnK was shit. Ironically, the best KnK episode was the rooftop dance episode.
The problem is KyoAni moe-fies everything. Their fight scenes are smooth, but they lack intensity.
>anime isn't even about the game itself, just some fags playing it with VR
>not even about the best games
>You don't watched Jinrui, aren't you?
She looks like she has downs + The mecha in the back looks like shit + it's a light novel so I rather not waste my time.
MFW when FMP no longer appears in fake charts.
That's a fucking light novel.
>but but the writer
No fuck off. There's a difference between writing for a videogame and writing for a novel, and videogame plots as a general rule tend to be shittier because the plot doesn't have to rivet you since the story keeps you there
Yeah and Light Novels are usually just dumbed down teenage novels with an extremely low amount of quality works. Which means I can safely drop every light novel adaptation ever and I wouldn't be missing much. If I pick up an LN adaptation it's for pretty specific reasons. Same with VN, except every single VN ever made is shit because it's a shit medium.
Google English, anon. I watched Jinrui when it aired, not sure what that has to do with video game adaptations.
Why does the PV fir Schwarzesmarken sound like they went onto the street and kidnapped the first German tourists they found?
Hai to Gensou no Grimgar
Musaigen no Phantom World
Prince of Stride: Alternative
Boku Dake ga Inai Machi
Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R
Ooyasan was Shishunki!
Not at all. The problem is that most of the time the only thing that gets animated are the dumb novels. But that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of nice ones.
Some of /a/'s most well-liked series were originally light novels. It's definitely not something you should flat out ignore.
Focus on the synopsis, author, publisher, and genre instead of the medium.
The only thing I care for is GATE and that's just to see the continued train wreck.
>Daily reminder that you should stop posting that because it's a thing!!!!!!!! Here's my fanfiction account Lol!!!!!!!!!!
>The MC of Schwarzesmarken is a villain in other Muv-Luv stuff though.
Which is entirely irrelevant, because all he does is sit around and gloat and doesn't contribute directly to the plot.
An anon falls in love with a story.
Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with the story's post number. Never minding the strange URL, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the rest of the board, they only look at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the story he called is not the same story he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the story's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.
Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, (You)s ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of PASTAS.
No. The best shows are all Originals, Novel adaptations, or manga adaptations. There is not a single anime adaptation of a Light Novel I've seen that I would miss if it never existed. And before you attempt to recommend me your favorite pile of shit, I can assure you I've already seen it.
Light Novels are literally Japanese "young adult," novels. And just like I ignore that giant shelf full of twilight and the hunger games flavor of the month bullshit at the bookstore, I will continue to ignore the Japanese equivalent. There's simply too much good anime in the world for me to not easily judge a book by its cover like this.
I still hope Saiki Kusuo no Sainan will get an anime or at least a manga translation.
AOTS going under the radar I see, good good.
Can all us enlightened folk agree to keep her threads small and cozy?
OP picture is missing a few shows. Shitstorm of the year Kiznaiver may be Winter.
Only looking forward to Durarara. I'll watch Ajin once it's released on Netflix because I can't be bothered to download that horrid cgi from polygon. That trailer looked worse than Sidonia.
I wouldn't. They're good and definitely a step above the average LN, but not even close to being considered the best of the medium. I'm glad I watched them, but I wouldn't miss them if they never existed. The fact is for every decent LN adaptation there are at least 10 more garbage ones, it's simply not worth the hassle most of the time.
Seinen doesn't necessarily mean adult 18+ only. It can fall under young adult territory, which is what a LN is.
Divine Gate is filled with lesbians and homosexuals.
Blonde haired guy has a homosexual that's trying to murder him, and black haired girl is a lesbian. Silver haired guy is in love with a trap and doesn't know it's a trap.
No, but they're no where near the best of the medium. Light Novels will always float around in the realm of dogshit to just "good". And it's funny how everyone keeps mentioning the same 4 or 5 shows over and over again, because those are really the only ones that really stand out of the hundreds of dogshit LN adaptations. It really just proves my point.
Not recommending. Asking why you think these things are shit.
If you're going to say "99% of these adaptations are not the pinnacle of the medium" then the same applies to manga adaptations. You should watch only original anime.
I actually don't read them. But you're clearly depreciating these shows for the sake of your argument.
If these aren't part of the best things the medium has to offer, I would love to see what shows you would choose instead.
>Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut
>The story of the light novel series revolves around Lux, a former prince of an empire named Arcadia that was overthrown via a rebellion five years earlier.
Boy that sure sounds original and not generic at all.
>Lux accidentally trespasses in a female dormitory's bathing area, sees the kingdom's new princess Lisesharte naked, and incurs her wrath.
What the fuck is with the Japanese and walking in on people in the bathroom? This has got to be one of the stupidest tropes in anime.
>Lisesharte then challenges Lux to a Drag-Ride duel. Drag-Rides are ancient armored mechanical weapons that have been excavated from ruins all around the world.
Of course she does.
>Lux used to be called the strongest Drag-Knight,
Of course he did.
>but now he's known as the "undefeated weakest" Drag-Knight because he will absolutely not attack in battle. After his duel with Lisesharte, Lux ends up attending the female-only academy that trains royals to be Drag-Knights.
I've watched porn that has had a better premise and been more original than this
There's no need to disregard all LNs. There is only a need to disregard the ones tagged "Harem", " Highschool", and "Ecchi". That prunes 80% of the 99% of the follow the leader tripe and leaves the ones that make the slightest attempt to be different and worthwhile.
It's not foolproof (Rokka is an example just from last season that was crap) but it brings the hit vs miss ratio much closer to manga adaptations.
Now as for visual novels, those really can all be disregarded entirely because there is not a single one that isn't ecchi harem.
People complained a lot about the summer season being one of the worst we've had in a while but I still had a lot of fun. Even shit shows like Charlotte were a blast to discuss with /a/. This season I picked up only a handful of shows and I'm barely even keeping up with them, I haven't even been spending much time on /a/ lately because there's nothing worth discussing. Winter can't possibly be worse than this season.
No it doesn't. It proves there aren't many good light novel ADAPTATIONS, not that there's few good light novels.
You don't get to talk about the "hundreds" of bad light novels when all your light novel knowledge comes from the few that have been adapted.
Why do they adapt the shit ones then hmmm?
If you ask me they're actually getting worse, now they're giving adaptations to web novels like SAO and Overlord. Web novels, i.e. the light novel's retarded stepbrother.
They meant for it to mean Black Marks (it's some sort of battlefield medic term used for hopeless cases) but fucked up. Later they retconned it so they got that nickname from a Russian officer who had shit German
>new muv luv
Why do they keeping adapting these side stories instead of the actual thing? It's such a fucking tease.
Should still be interesting, though. Far more so than Total Eclipse, as Europe, in the Muv-Luv verse is an absolute hell hole. What's with the insanely cutesy KyoAni art though?
>then the same applies to manga adaptations
Completely false. Manga and anime have been feeding off each other since the 60's, there are so many outstanding manga adaptions out there. Light Novel adaptions are a recent and unfortunate manifestation with very few notable works. Just look at all the people greentexting me their favorite LN adaptation, they're all the fucking same because there are barely any of worth.
Not going to answer this because no matter what I post people will just greentext the name and call them shit, disregarding everything else I say. There's no winning at this point. I will say that the demographic that Light Novels must sell to inherently devalues the content and this is why I believe an LN adaptation can never measure up to the best.
I agree with this. But my statement still stands about not seeing a single LN adaptation that is comparable to the best of anime as whole.
>What's with the insanely cutesy KyoAni art though?
Based CARNELIAN is BASED.
So just like you did? You didn't even explain why you thought the examples given above weren't good enough, you just said "they're light novels and not that good". Don't go complaining about it now. If your tastes are so good that you wouldn't consider what was mentioned here to be noteworthy, then you must have irrefutable examples of high quality works that are recognized to be good. If you don't, it just shows you're biased against LNs and that there's no point in arguing with you.
>Manga and anime have been feeding off each other since the 60's, there are so many outstanding manga adaptions out there.
And how is this relevant to 2015 anime, when the adaptations are of ongoing 2015 manga, which have good:shit ratio at least comparable to light novels?
I would say if you're watching Hai to Gensou no Grimgal you have to Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo just to compare the two. I get the feeling it will make both shows more fun to watch, kind of like watching Asterisk and Rakudai this season.
>kind of like watching Asterisk and Rakudai this season
This would only be true if Rakudai existed entirely to take the piss out of the magical highschool battle harem genre, which it unfortunately does not.
A closer example would be to watch Monogatari alongside Korean Zombie.
Green means go, yellow means investigate.
I'm fucking lazy so I pick my shows based on their synopsis unless it's a studio I like.
People just asked if I liked certain shows, nobody asked me to explain why and I never greentexted them and called them shit. I just said they're only notable if you compare them to other LN. I explicitly told people not to bother telling me their favorite LN series. Likewise, I will not tell you my favorite shows because there's no reason for it, It's a waste of time.
What do you want me to go season by season since Haruhi and give you ratios of quality or some shit? Jesus you guys really expect me to do a lot for no reason. How about some simple logic instead:
LN exclusively pander to young adults, meaning young adults will probably enjoy those adaptation more than me, someone who is much older than them. Manga and their adaptations on the other hand pander to many demographics, many of which I fall under. Therefore, compared to Light Novels I should enjoy a higher ratio of manga because the format of the medium inherently interests me more. Therefore, I can disregard most LN because It's safe to assume the like-dislike ratio will be low. It's the same logic some people have behind not picking up shoujo or not picking up children's shows, except with an entire medium.
Manga adaptations are also far more established and mature than the LN format. Manga has had more time to flesh out its medium and produce great works which may get adapted, as opposed to the new LN craze which has really only boomed since the late 2000's. Also, I hope you aren't implying that only ongoing manga get adaptations when Ushio to Tora is airing this very season.
Looks quite fun.
Yellow are all 3-episodes rule.
It seems to me that plenty of people who are deeper into the hobby than I am follow the staff and cast working on the show and pick off of that.
I only know the biggest director and writer names, like Urobutcher and Watanabe. MAPPA, KyoAni, & MadHouse usually get me to at least "check out" the show regardless of what the premise is.
Beyond that, I just look at the synopsis.
The synopsis lies to me all the fucking time, so I usually take a look at who's working on it too, but even so I still pick up tons of completely random anime just because they seem like it might be fun.
that makes sense and everything, but if the premise looks retarded then I'm going to initially skip it
if reception on /a/ is good then I'll give it a shot, but I don't pick things up just based on the staff
I was under the impression that Fall was the worst season we had in YEARS, and its almost mid-season and I've picked up the most shows I have in recent memory (something around 17 I think). I think we gotta wait a bit until we can make an accurate judgement of next season. I can already see at least four shows I'd pick up out of curiosity on this list alone. Give it time.
>Ao no Kanata
>Boku dake Inai
>Hai to Gensou
>Gifting (it's DEEN but I hope they at least keep some of the hilarious stuff)
>BALLOON TITS etc
And maybe others depending on the threads I see here.
>Active Raid (Taniguchi's new original mecha. It's a must watch)
>Dimension W (Robowaifu, and the manga is not bad)
>Boku dake ga Inai (The manga is excellent)
>Hai to Gensou no Grimgal (Ryosuke Nakamura + Mieko Hosoi)
>Dagashi Kashi (Slut)
Huh, not as bad as I though.
Holy shit that was horrendous. Into the trash it goes.
This one looks worth it. Was there anything even good this fall anyways? Shinmaou 2, owari 2, noragami 2 and rakudai maybe?
Was anything worth picking up? I finally got around to watching yuru Yuri and am loving it
