More Love Hina antics.
Is this the power of the main girl? The ability to win without even trying? I guess Eva better enjoy this since she never had that back in Negima.
Well sempai's back is very lewd you know.
This series didn't kill Negima, you could say the pressure just got to him on that last series and he wanted to end it, or something.
The new series is all about Evangelion finally getting a good ending.
MC is this is her friend for the last few thousand years outside of time or something, but he's only met her on chance on occasion. She met him every ten days, ten years forty years, two hundred years, and each time it was a lot more for her. For him it was just a day apart or so.
Also some time paradoxes happen; she ends up raising him, because she knew she would meet him one day first, but he met her second, yet it was hundreds of years ago.
She likes playing around in adult form in this series, since she's had to wear that form for more than ten years now.
Its like she wants to believe she's an adult already, she's trying to act like the boss. She used to wear this form all the time until Nagi trapped her as well.
During Negima she was content just playing around like a kid in some ways, she couldn't keep up the illusions perhaps as well, due to her magic being sealed.
She's used to this form now
>the pressure just got to him on that last series and he wanted to end it, or something.
There were politics behind the messy ending of Negima. If Ken hadn't ended it, you would've seen its corpse shamble onward under his publisher's pen, not his.
UQ is more about character interaction than shounen in some ways so far.
It'll perhaps never be as shounen as Negima was, it seems like it'll be a shorter series.
Half the characters are immortal from the start.
Well that's true, but Ken basically was doing that in Negima itself, by the end it really was mostly a pure shounen series. When he was forced to drop Negima, he decided since he had the chance to just start his new project as a shounen since that was what he wanted to do anyway, but as you can see it sitll has some harem elements.
The law that would take away his rights over Negima.
I get the feeling that Eva also does it to keep a distance from Touta, to keep the boundary between a child and adult between then so Eva can properly play as a guardian for Touta. It's the moments when she goes back to being Eva that she is treating Touta as an equal.
Even if she plays a bit tsundere, you can notice that grin of hers there. I'd say part of her still wants to claim Touta as her own in front of these other bitches, and she had heard of the legend as well even if she acts coy.
Though the legend is still likely just some bullshit that one guy made up, in order to get them all to be a bit more honest about their feelings.
Fact that Eva was there might not have been a coincidence.
I liked the plot at the beggining, it had actual progression, now it's all this classic harem shit the author likes to do.
It's like he fucking ran out of ideas already.
Don't worry, its about to kick into a fuck long tournament arc because reasons. I can feel all the upcoming cast being Negima cast, we already saw a few of them from single panels of previous chapters.
Kind of disappointed with the recent chapters.
It just feel repetitive, with constant harem things.
In Negima there's the confession booth hijinks, karaoke, and trips where you actually see that side characters have their own lives.
I know right? I really should've dropped UQ and just go read Negima again, but I can't because UQ ir really interesting and I can't helped complaining about this in every UQ thread.
It's a light-hearted filler volume that slots in between the heavy Eva stuff that came before and the upcoming tournament. You couldn't be more wrong about "running out of ideas".
The fact that Ken is doing a filler arc pretty much means that he is committed to this series and that he's in it for the long run. A filler arc also means the series is not gonna get cancelled anytime soon like some anons here were predicting when the manga just began.
I wonder if we'll still have the same redundant arguments about Negi and Touta and Eva when UQ hits 200 chapters. My guess is yes.
Yes anon, probably even more because we will meet Negi by then.
I liker more now since she is more involved in the action and less of a bitch. Now if only she was more useful.
Yeah, but the start of UQH is basically the same in tone to Negima during the more actiony volumes, so I mentioned that so the guy had it in mind.
Touta is the type that would enjoy more washing her instead.
We have seen enough
>Being an idiot hero so take the idiot part literally
>Can't think of anyway to save the world effectively so kill time by saving random people to satisfy his ego instead of trying to find a general solution
>The evil senate tried to kill my wife but I left them alone because of muh reasons
Yeah, he's an idiot hero, but there's no space for you to be smart when you're teamed up with centuries-old immortals. He couldn't have done more if he tried.
>The evil senate tried to kill my wife but I left them alone because of muh reasons
Are you talking about the execution? That was just Ala Rubra being sneaky. If you're referring to what happened afterward, nobody knows the details.
You're completely ignoring the part where Ala Rubra, for unknown reasons, was constantly on the run after the war, between stuff like being targetted by probably KE, having to seal Sukuna, and most likely being busy dealing with the Demon World.
>couldn't even think of something a 10 yo can
Those guys are all morons beyond imagination.
>constantly on the run
Their leader fucking defeated the Life maker, a world creator and the rest of the team filled with first-class monsters, who could force them to run? If those Martians were that strong why didn't they deal with the Life maker themselves. This is pure retard.
They were constantly in danger after the fallout, we don't know why but they were.
You know the Lifemaker wasn't completely defeated, right?
We still don't know the involvement of Venus.
And Negi had a lot easier of a plate to deal with, because he isn't fighting a war or busy scratching the surface of the conspiracy.
And yeah, he's smart, the the whole point of Negima.
The only reason the Life maker wasn't defeated completely was because of her immortality and possessing power. Nagi indeed beat the shit out of her. He was clearly stronger. So if he was really in danger, it must mean there's someone stronger than him threatening him which's utterly retard.
And why did Negi have it easier, anyway. The senate still wanted to kill him and both world're at the verge of war.
Nagi's whole point is he being a hothead hero thus solving every problem with his fists should be his first reaction, just like how Natsu and Touma punch every enemies they meet in the face. If Nagi didn't try to save the Mars by punching the shit out of those Martians to make them obey his will, it's either because of plot hole or he's too stupid to think of it.
The only thing Touta needs to participate is Eva's permission. Mana gave him a invite but Eva forbade him form participating.
That shit with the prelim was him trying to get in behind her back.
Dude, you gotta read between the lines.
Nagi didn't beat the Lifemaker alone, he did it with Zect's help.
Think about it, why did Lifemaker possess Zect instead of Nagi? Zect seemed to have played a very important role in that fight.
And once against, Martians and Earthlings aren't all the players in this world.
I mean, I understand the hate with Idiot Heroes, but Nagi isn't nearly as bad as you're making him out to be, even if he fits the trope pretty snugly.
There is a reason why he's not the MC, though, because it would make the manga boring.
What makes the Mage of the Beginning so dangerous is that he's Nagi level with the ability to make practically Nagi level loyal subordinates. Also he could dispel any magic world inhabitant instantly.
So I'm a long time Negima fan and I want to get into UQ Holder, but I was wondering if someone could answer a question of mine. What timeline/universe/whatever does this story take place in? That's what I'm most curious about.
The timeline where Asuna was sleeping, no one can defeat the LM, Negi tried to save the world but failed and Earth is now filled with uninhabited wasteland and bloodthirsty gangs.
Do we have actual confirmation by Akamatsu tho? UQ Holder might as well and be retconned at some point. I don't this will end up with Eva travelling dimensions to "find a spare Nagi" now that Tota has been introduced.
It's likely not that timeline specifically, because of that, unless of course, like UQ Holder gets wiped out or something and Eva has nothing left tying her down.
It is however, pretty obviously, not the epilogue timeline, given the status of Negi, Nagi, and the lifemaker. And, as a result, it's safe to assume Asuna is sleeping.
Nothing has really said this is a different time-line, or that its that time-line either yet. Its not the lack of evidence that decides that it is or might be that one.
Rather at the time it basically has no basis, other than what I assume is people saying that surely this isn't the same Eva so it has to be different.
Someone might try to bullshit a basis for now so it doesn't count, but not really yet.
Tsundere, except in a different way.
She's developed a bit of interest in him after seeing his power, yet its still entirely a very rough and abrasive feeling. Maybe she feels that if she becomes his promised one, then at least Eva won't be his promised one.
Its a good way of ending that romance in her mind perhaps.
Personally I'd bet on that mainly being Eva screwing with the other girls. She knows they're getting all worked up over a nonsense legend, so she slips in and 'wins' while they're fighting, just to fuck with them a bit.
So when did this became a full on harem manga?
It seems to me that each arc of UQ Holder is a completely different genre. Is this supposed to be a decostruction of the entire manga genre or something?
one of the reasons i dropped negima is it's length. And i'm glad i did seeing as how Akamatsu decided to give it a shit ending because of magazine drama.
Love hina was perfect; not too short, not too long. UQ holder is already in the same vein as negima because it sets itself up for plot hax to continue the series. I love ken and his work but i can tell this is going to be a long drawn out series.
>Is this the power of the main girl? The ability to win without even trying?
Exactly. The main girl is the main girl precisely because she makes winning moves without forethought, but just as a natural part of the growing relationship. Secondary girls are the ones who have to resort to trying to artificially start a relationship with pretense or lucky rituals.
Holy crap, that is an incredible amount of research and detail.
You know what, Karin is back to old favorite position. I forgot about that scene about her origin story.
Guess her being white explains her big boobs.
Strange that Toutas youth isn´t artificial.
>Touta's edgelord youth foreshadowed
Thats not exectly right.
Regardless of whether it's a fake name or not two characters don't share a surname in fiction without a reason.
The fact that they both have Pacman shaped eyes and nobody else does just raises more suspicions.
Man, Mizore is super cute and awesome. As a twintails HOHOHO ojou loli, she's already my cup of tea. And now this, she's a good girl with no falsehood in her motives and affection.
As this rate, she might end up surpassing Eva as superior blonde loli if Ken doesn't let current Eva raise more points in her true form.
So Kirie is following in the vain of chisame albeit more involved, and kuroumaru is hitting almost every girl flag he could possibly hit before the time comes. Not sure how feels, but i'm sensing harem hard. Negi genes must have kicked in.
He had managed to avoid making this a harem up to now. Then suddenly he introduced a bunch of new girls in love with the MC and revealed that all the existing girls love the MC too. He could have kept going the way he was doing before. I guess Ken can't escape from his old bad habits.
Is this a common japanese saying or something? I seem to see it a lot.
>and kuroumaru is hitting almost every girl flag he could possibly hit before the time comes
That was a bro flag
Doesn´t want his bro forced into a relationship.
One bro flag out of a mountain of girl flags, I'd be genuinely surprised if he doesn't become a she when the time comes, or if ken makes and abrupt change to every flag coming forward.
Even if he becomes a girl.
This koroumarou looks like a bro.
>half French half Asian immortal
Sequel, or alternate future reality take your pick. But the way kens driving the story its very much a sequel to pick up after the borderline clusterfuck of an ending he left negima in.
Why are they so upset about the allure of human girls? Who cares what girl he uses as a cocksleeve for 60 years when u can ride that cock until the sun explodes?
Is it just me or this seemed like really out of character for Eva?
She dosen't have to do this, she won... 700 hunded years ago, touta want to save her and be with her, whyy would she care about all the other girls making a ruckus over a silly legend that machine lied about on the spot?
>>implying Evangeline won't end up with touta because "muh past love"
Everyone who's reading UQ should already know that Eva is going to win. The very first chapter more or less established this story is mainly about Eva
she wasnt retconned last we saw her she was universe hopping with alternate eva. Its safe to assume this is the eva that stayed with the main group with all the unresolved shit going around, that and the whole psuedo yakuza family.
Its that or ken decided to make this another reality, but that doesn't really help the negima readers who are looking for closure.
I would have preferred it if Eva simply loved Touta like a son. But of course >>133122636 is right; in this sort of series love is literally forever and can only ever be directed to one person. Since past Eva fell in love with Touta first she will come back to him eventually.
But won't there be two Asunas then? Because isn't she like old as fuck in Negima already? So there will be the old timeline Asuna who got transported back to past and the new timeline Asuna waking up.
Hopefully at some point, it would also mean negi and asuna are still alive in this timeline. Even if half her friends are dead at least a few are still around and she can still see her only living relative(negi) at some point. Ken could even wake her up early in this timeline truth be told since events followed a different path.
This timeline is literally a blank slate from here on out.
negi has been confirmed as alive already, and in danger or some sort of distress (probably possessed by the MotB).
Also I can see touta forcefully waking ehr up to go help Negi in this situation, if she's still asleep.
Xinzqai Chao and Chao Lingshen are not the same person.
Although, I'd love to see Xinzqai come back, he's a great and fun villain.
>It's not like Karin being Shinobu's distant ancestor in some fashion is out of the question.
If you mean directly, I'm pretty sure Akamatsu's not going to make Karin a milf. And if you mean an indirect descendant, then her and countless others because that's how genealogy works.
No, I mean Asuna herself. She will wake up and immediately realize Touta as the boy she met when being imprisoned, the person who gave her the purpose to live and their promise to meet each other again.
Mizore: Can fight, devoted, genki, can cook. She's like Ku Fei + Ayaka + Chizuru with other good qualities.
Shinobu: Mech, can cook, good at conversation.
How can Negima girls compete with that? And they re just 12.
I doubt that will happen, not till like fucking chapter 300. Ayaka is still alive, and Asuna doesn't wake up until a few years after Ayaka dies.
I would like this to have no fucking connection what so ever with the final volume of Negima, which was terribly rushed. Just retcon the shit outta that like BAA->LO.
but BAA -> LO flows exactly like the author wanted, that initial ending of the original series was because he had cancer and thought he'd die.
Now I remember I need to catch up with martian memories or however was called.
Ken realized he won't have a big cast like Negima, so he is cramming character archetypes together into a single character.
I wonder how long Mizore will get screentime, she seems too uninteresting and weak to be of use in combat. Like Anya.
Mars Wars Chronicles. Story is slow as fuck. Last chapter wasn't bad though, but it seems like an early introduction for an old character who disappeared part way into LO.
Ayaka still has like 15 or so years in her, and Asuna doesn't wake up until 30 years after she dies. The girl she sees is like Mizore's granddaughter unless Mizore has siblings.
You're projecting your asshurt at Negima ending onto Touta, hence why you'd consider Nagi NTRing Touta acceptable even though there was never a "Nagima" manga to get you fully acquainted with him
In comparison, Kuro and Kirie are worthless. She has time to get stronger and masters Ki and martial arts already. She'd probably be a good match against Touta before Dana training, she's clearly going to support him as a fighter.
>she seems too uninteresting and weak to be of use in combat
She feels more like an apology for Ayaka's wasted potential. Honestly just give her and Shinobu pactios and the are ready to go.
She isn't immortal, well likely isn't immortal, meaning she is worthless as fuck
Touta spent 8 months training, just fucking casually. What does that mean for a mortal?
I hope Ken keeps doing jumps like that, rather than basically have the line between mortal and immortal go absolutely no where.
Too bad Touta is anti-magic. No pactios.
So has Ken explained how the fuck any of the other girls got their immortal powers?
That's what I'm waiting for,and knowing my luck Ken will just cocktease the shit out of us.
I want to know how Kirie got her powers and Karin too. Karin especially since she seems to have holy elemental magic. I wonder if Touta will go to the realm of the gods/the afterlife in thhis series as we learn more about his powers?
To be the new Anya.
She is the reverse-Santa. While she might be useful in the story somehow, she will be useless in fights. While Santa is fucking useless in the story since his arc, he will be useful in fighting.
Konoka's granddaughters resemble those two.
wait what the fuck is Karin doing? She's still acting like a prick but all in all she still tries to win this scrubbing competition too doesn't she? I hoped at least one girl would stay out of the harem
>fucking top tier
>fucking failed at everything in life, lost his comrades, his wife, his son, his own freedom and couldn't save anyone
Yes, until now, Touta failed the least among 3 of them.
I wonder what happened in the time since she was taken by Eva, where was she when Eva was in her depressive years? And when she was at Mahoura? Considering how she is obsessed with Eva, an arc about the two would be very nice.
>inb4 the project was designed by Negi's harem members to give them each a mini-negi to love them unconditionally
>inb4 Chao is yuri sex slave
>inb4 there are bunch of toutas this touta is just Eva's negi clone bitchboy
>Ayaka also has her own Negi-clone and was impregnated by him
>Mizore is Negi's descendant
>Ayaka sent Mizore to UQ to steal Eva's Touta so that she can have 2 Negi-clone
>Mizore and Touta are going to commit incest and give birth to retard children
>Immortel lack real beaty!
Karin is full of shit.Dana said it best.
And it's also used by high-class ladies when talking to other people of similar status, also true loved ones.
She could be going danna-sama if she wanted to be true yamato nadeshiko.
Korou is missinterpratating his love for Touta.
His love is geniune but kuro is dirty. His Love is pic related and nothing more.
The problem before was that it took Ken around 9 days to do 18 pages for a chapter. For UQ Holder, he reduced to 16 pages per chapter, something he'd been unwilling to do during Negima. With the reduced page count per chapter, he brought the time it takes for him to make a chapter under 7 days. Allowing him to take fewer hiatuses.
Or to put it another way, his wife wasn't interfering with his work by demanding he take time off every few weeks to spend them on her, she was a constant demand on his time that lead to him getting behind on his work. So he reduced his workload for UQ Holder to better meet the demands of his wife.
>robro told eva too
TRULY THE HERO WE NEED
>They lack the spark of life.
Karin does because she is a shit immortel.
Korou and kirie are to young to have lost the sparkle.
And after they graduate from Dana it´s unliekely they ever will.
