It was recently declared that this is the best Gundam in decades. Is it true /a/?
Wrong. The best gundam in the past decade is >>133138708
I'm amazed talk of it died so quickly
I figured with who is writing it wouldn't be my thing but it might be a new normie gundam. But hype has died down pretty much everywhere. 5 episodes and there is still nothing to get really into
It seems like a show that lacks a lot of care or passion. Lot of lazy drawings to fix in BD and it will say stuff like "mika is doing minimal movement to dodge!" and then he'll do this >>133138887
This is true. Kudelia and Mika have had the most time so far and both still manage to be underdeveloped. Kudelia is annoying and Mika is just dull. The whole Tekkadan crew lack a really military brotherly banter thing going on as well which is especially a problem with Mika and Orga
At least there is romance anon
Wow, this guy's meme really caught on, huh?
>SEED is awful
Strike would like a word with you
It's 5 episodes in, even simple shows have something after that. Even just character discussion
It's pretty nice, OP feels like it is trying to hard to be a DATABASE but sounds like some bad alt band
Mika and Kudelia/Atra have 0 chemistry.
>main character is boring
>main character has no development
i think mika's had plenty of characterizations but you just dont like them. for one, he's had that implant thing shoved into his spine 3 times despite the risk. he's a cold blooded fighter not afraid to execute people immediately. he's also a child.
That isn't development and can still be very dull. He is very good at stuff, knows a lot and has little struggle with anything. This hasn't brought him to act arrogant or anything but just very dull, he just sort of goes along with everything and has little issue. He has no struggle, ambition or real goals outside a very basic philosophy that kids being mistreated is bad and that should stop.
The only thing that seems obvious to change with him is he might stop killing so easily but that can easily turn to melodrama and UNDERSTANDING.
I hated it when she decided to just give them money and that was her big thing. No actually learning stuff, just stay as a figure head with money who get lectured to by a manlet every now and then.
>robot with no personality.
The show is so stagnant that the threads are just boxes of troll bait. Even the few people who do confess their open plebian love for this show only have trolls to discuss it with.
He doesn't even fly. I'm talking atmospheric flight. He just goes straight to space. Not even Jesus Yamato did that.
Mika and Orga really need more time together. For apparent bros that have been together forever they have had like 3 scenes and it has just been
>Hey mika do the thing
Where is the banter and brotherly love?
>It's bad since Kudelia is now only defined by a romance to the MC
Huh? Did I miss something?
>And Mika is defined by Orga
Not at all. They don't even spend much time together, which was pretty unexpected and disappointing.
>Only fought in it twice up until then
>No MS training
>Any simulation training he did have would be for MWs which can't fly
They really have no idea about build up. Mika has yet to struggle on anything
He really needs taken down a peg. I hope next time Char just 1v1s him and just beats the shit out of him only being saved by the Barbatos' armour. They could do fuck all when there was like 4 v 1 so I doubt it
>being this mad
I'm telling you precisely why he sucks. Can you give me a single reason he's good for anything? Can you name anything about him that I could possibly make him interesting for me? Because I would love that. I like the show and he's a shit stain ruining it for me, so cleaning that stain would be great.
>can you give me a single reason he's good for something?
what? why does he need to be good for something?
>can you name anything about him that might make him interesting
i mean he's had plenty of characterizations by this point and if you find him uninteresting then it's probably your personal opinion more than it is a portrayal of how bad he is as a character. you're kinda being ridiculously autistic here.
I'm a long time Gundam fan. As in I've watched every single entry into the franchise going back to 1979. My favourite are 0079, 0080: War in the Pocket, and Turn A.
I am loving Gundam IBO so far. It has great potential to be counted among the above for my favourite Gundam series of all time. Still early days, but if it keeps it up I think we're looking at a solid 9/10 show.
I can't wait for them to fuck each brains out
He's joked around with Orga, shown concern for Takaki, handled what could have been an awkward situation pretty gracefully with the mechanic, scolded Eugene for getting too rowdy, and shown a somewhat playful/competitive side during that practice round with the mobile workers in the first episode. Is that subtle enough for you?
>literally whole thread full of mika characterizations and why people find him interesting
>nope i'll just keep repeating the same argument that he's not interesting
>even tho it could totally be like my personal opinion i'll shove it up everyone's ass
All those examples were him saying is he okay or it's okay in a monotone apart from with a blank face pulling a guy down
>somewhat playful/competitive side during that practice round
What because he did well? No it wasn't playful
But I guess one small moment in most episodes is enough to say he has a character
I like brown Kamina.
Mikazuki's eyebrows are just a little too thick.
Biscuit's sisters are delicious.
Kudelia's the first blonde gundam girl I've liked in a long time, Atra cute too.
Candyman scares me.
Don't worry, soon we'll have a scene of Orga using Mika's spinal things to stimulate his tiny penis.
>People desperately want the show to transition to an exciting trainwreck
I enjoy the restrain IBO is showing so far, it's not particularly interesting but it's not all over the place like 00 S2.
But Gundam is historically terrible.
I should know, I'm from /m/. Even G-Reco is bogged down by Tomino quirks to the point it undermines whatever social commentary it may be going for.
>I wanted the emphasize the kind of sensuality that would get the audience thinking Char and Amuro might be gay...
>There are no characters whose pussies you'd want to lick in anime today.
Why is Tomino so batshit?
>giving a definite opinion on a show
I thought we already had MAL for this kind of nonsense.
That too but paying attention is extremely important, lots of details everywhere, abundant terminology you need to grasp asap. In the defense of the people who understood jack shit about Reco, watching it weekly really made it difficult to follow comfortably.
to be fair that s everyone. Apart from Kudelia, the one with an education and been doing speeches on this for ages who seems to not even know what an orphan is
Not to mention a lot of exposition is dropped in offhand conversations. Whereas, at least in IBO so far, characters speak aloud their entire thought process and explain stuff to each other that they already know.
I found weekly made it easier as you had time to digest and talk about it with people, well in-between the shit flinging
Mika is okay but he has that same dogmatic belief in Gundam. Instead of I am Gundam Seiei, he believes in some perfect ideal of brotherhood. For sure he'll start chanting soon, like the psycho he is.
>can't read emotions
>can't understand simple tasks
>pretty stupid (education probably just retard care)
>Has little unhappy fits
I dunno anon
Maybe he is like the hunie boo boo of mars and not really in charge of any movement
Mika, a guy who grew up on the streets, knows more about everything than her. She was aparntly doing speeches on this shit but has no idea
I think that maid may really be a tard wrangler
So what are you saying is that in every godamm Gundam, the Mc falls in love with the princess and gets married qith her? If thats the case then holy fuck how boring knowing how it all ends everytime
I still think Atra has a change of winning the Mika bowl.
>the Mc falls in love with the princess and gets married qith her?
Time will tell, but if in the coming episodes Atra proves to be more competed that her, who it's nothing more than an orphan country girl, with the only purpose in the series of been an actual moe blob, I will lose a lot of hope for Kundelia, still I hope she its actually good when the politics discourses start
>still I hope she its actually good when the politics discourses start
She'll just repeat what Mika has told her and that it was so hard guys we were shot at a lot
I just hope for an edit with this
>Then sociopath or an autist.
Nope, still wrong. Try to understand the meaning of words before you use them.
He's definitely fucked in the head though.
>conveniently leaving out context
>in every godamm Gundam, the Mc falls in love with the princess and gets married qith her?
No, not at all. Princesses not dying has nothing to do with any kind or pairing nonsense.
How long until Ein finally wins? He can’t lose forever right?
>characters speak aloud their entire thought process and explain stuff to each other that they already know.
You mean like how in greco's first episode they explain what are minovsky particles when everyone and their dog knows what they are?
>Best Protagonists Ever
At least you tried
Its crossbone good? All I heard it’s a lot of mixed options about it from /m/ and how the MS are the best thing it got, but they are so bitter about Gundam sometimes, not sure if it’s simply trolling
>can't even breathe in Space
Come on man
Think that guy from the human debris, I think his name its Dante he has hardly do anything and there is little to no info of him, he seems expendable to me, form the man group maybe Norba, he is the happy guy that’s not really that important, he it’s close to the others so that can work
Mika has shown concern for Kudelia and appreciation for Atra's gift. Him talking back to Kudelia in ep.1 and talking about Akihiro shows that he's grounded about their situation. He's also capable of smiling and having quirks like eating wherever.
That's more personality than what Heero or Setsuna has shown in 5 episodes.
I hope Orga dies, Eugene would have been a far more interesting chracter.
Ennil wasn't even trying. It was obvious that Tiffa was going to win since there was no competition
damnit no, princess is going to wake up to the fact that orga is in her vicinity
she has to
Depressed because he missed.
How much suffering will he suffer?
Seems like he'll be that kind of character who's life will be ruined by the MC's but will never actually die. I expect him to be around until the lat 3 episodes or so until he dies while bitterly cursing Mika or Orga. Might also turn insane considering how its still pretty early and he already seems to be losing it.
Season 2 was awful, with character assasination for the sake of shipping crap.
Saji and Louise are some of the most awful characters ever created in Gundam history. Their drama was painful to watch, and the fact that they survived and got an happy ending is insulting to all dead characters that deserved more.
>Implying thats a bad thing
It's just the beginning and she's saying she will do her best with her own battles. You are expecting too much from her so soon, usually, princesses act like retard for a longer period before that.
Let the bodies hit the floor.
How much blood will Mika spill?
Where'd she say that? I missed it.
I liked Turn A a lot, but it's a little light on action.
>nice action and a little romance
Romance is not what I'd tell someone to expect in a Gundam series. Also the action really varies from the angst and current political agenda bing pushed.
Honestly I'd say go for the classic production order run if you have the time. 0079 onwards.
Watching Turn A right away is a mistake because of stuff like this. It's my favorite Gundam series, though.
Turn A, Zeta
Greco was the most fun to watch but weaker than those other 2 in most areas
Turn A has fights pretty much every episode, only a handful has none as far as I remember
Anyone else watch episode 2 of The Origin? CG aside it's been pretty damn good.
It was ok, kinda corny and cute. More excited for Char basketball.
How much of the story do I lose out hopping from series to series non-linearly. I'm assuming it's all one continuous timeline from the first Gundam to IBO?
>I'm assuming it's all one continuous timeline from the first Gundam to IBO
Nope, that only applies from MSG (0079) to Turn A. Everything after that (ie SEED, 00, AGE) that isn't said to be Universal Century is separate.
I'd just recommend starting with 0079, it's better than you might think even if you're biased against old anime.
>even the king of hyrule is impressed, goddamn
0079 (first show) ->Zeta -> zz -> CCA These need to be seen in order
Then are are a few other UC OVAs dotted around. Then you have Late UC with F91 and Victory (not really related)
Then nearly all the Alternative Universes happen, order really doesn't mater as they are unrelated to each other. This is where IBO probably goes
Then Turn A
UC is main timeline, and all others are AU timelines
UC starts at 0079->Zeta->ZZ etc etc
Look at the table on wikipedia on the Gundam franchise page
DO NOT WATCH THE ENTRIES IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER
PRODUCTION ORDER ONLY
Oh boy, here we go.
About half of the Gundam stories are set in the "main timeline", AKA "Universal Century". The other half are standalone spinoffs and their sequels.
It gets confusing if you look any deeper.
the shotacons aren't biting and this one knew how to smile like a human from the getgo.
...I did just realize they're both 15, however. hah.
>08th, Stardust, IGLOO and 0080 before 0079
I think he meant like watching 0083 before Zeta, which would work just fine in my opinion considering it introduces characters like Bask Ohm and provides background info on the Titans.
Cause 1 second of him half smiling doesn't make up for 99% of him speaking in a monotone. When Mika does show a more nice side it is such a bland nice that people are just as uninterested. Fans even dropped that emotions chart of him as they were unable to fill it out
>his face is unattractive
Given prior Gundams, is it possible for the antagonist to survive?
Japan doesn't care about it.
The TV ratings are worse than AGEs ratings.
The only fans the show has are a few fujos who watch it for the naked shota bodies and westerners who also liked Aldnoah Zero.
It's just boring. I am Gundamfag myself - One who usually livewatches everything but IBO is so dull that i still haven't watched the latest episode.
>The only fans the show has are a few fujos
I don't see much fujo love for it, not more than any show gets. Lacks enough of the boys having gay friendships. Plus they obsess over a few VAs
OPM seems to have more fujo shipping
Since when males are fujo? This show lacks fanarts.
I'd easily put IBO way above G-Reco and call it a strong candidate for AotS, at least.
Didn't watch Try, Age, or 00, though I intend to watch the latter and possible the former someday.
>best Gundam since 1995
Being better than Turn A is a tall order. It's been a very solid and entertaining show so far, but it's still way too early in the plot to put it above any all-time greats.
I also don't have the seething hatred for Seed and Wing that a lot of people have. It's too early to say that it's better than those, too.
Reminder that we're getting another gundam after IBO ends.
Right oh. I take it side antagonists die like a bitch without ever amounting to much?
I meant its already been announced and is in production. Its a gundam thunderbolt adaptation.
Oh yeah, Gaylio is probably fucked.
They got scared off by the lack of good pairings. They've not got enough to pair up all the boys like you could in 00. What fujo shows usually have is dynamics like boybands, each character is the X one so they can smush them together in certain ways.
>The last couple of gundam series got custom head stands of the lead gundams.
>IBO gets stained glass styled character face stands.
I kind of want the Orga one.
G-Reco is like that kid who was born into a wealthy family and his parents pushed him really hard so he got into a really good school but then one day you see him in the newspaper announced dead from overdose or something
it was so set up to succeed but failed anyway
any manlet with a personality
Will we get a decent romance in this series?
So far, it does something to me that no other gundam series (sans Build Fighters) in the last 10 years managed to do, that is leaving me wanting for more at the end of each episode.
The way they draw you into the story is terrific, unlike G-reco's shitty first 8 episodes.
And the shared spotlight for crews and ace pilots instead of mindless mech action? Fuck, when was this ever executed nicely in Gundam shows before?
The only downside so far is MikaxKudelia, god that shit is so forced as fuck it made previous forced pairings seem better.
>So far, it does something to me that no other gundam series (sans Build Fighters) in the last 10 years managed to do, that is leaving me wanting for more at the end of each episode.
>And the shared spotlight for crews and ace pilots instead of mindless mech action?
That isn't true at all. First few episodes only the Gundam has been able to do anything. Episode 5 the blonde guy got to drive up a rope but Mika did all the fighting, guts just flew up and might have hit a guy once
Outside that it is people on the bridge/base shouting, so nothing new
