Cute animal thread. Post your cute animal (pic is not mine, my cat ate my soul). >neighbors get door busted down at 11 at night >wtf is happening >go outside >neighbor in a stereotypical wifebeater being dragged out in cuffs >word gets out that he apparently took a neighbors german shepherd shat on his lawn so he suplexed him on his driveway during the day and killed it >dog's owner... I was watching a calcite vesicle with a magnifying glass and i found this bugs living there. At first i thought that they were termites but from what i've heard they eat wood and not carbonates. The bug in the picture it's 0.05 cm approx and the other one was a bit smaller.
>>1991020 This is a jackfruit. You can find them at most Chinese grocery stores. They taste like rubber pineapples filled with thin honey, with a weird "Chinese snakeoil" after taste which I suspect has more to do with how they're stored than anything else.
Temperament is highly hereditary. Any animal breeder can tell you how important it is to breed for temperament. There will be a wide variance in offspring but overall they'll be better than a random coupling. You can see this also in experiments such as the Russian fox experiments when fearful or aggressive animals were culled and quickly what remained became friendly and domestic.
You may wonder why nonetheless there will still be more timid animals in a litter of two good temperaments but that's easily accounted for by recessive genes. So kind of roulette.

Genetics, hormones, nutrition on fetal development, etc. Pregnancy takes a toll on a mother. It's a lot of work for the body and when you have a litter, thats more to go around. Runts get the shit end of the stick, be it from genetics or didn't get enough of what they needed in womb. Such as in dogs, their womb isn't circular like humans but more of a Y shape. Runts usually form the farthest away from the rest of the litter. It's possible the 'pick of the litter' is closer, but I'm just guessing.
The largest of the litter does not always... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

I am desperately in love with the Swedish elkhound (Jämthund) only problem is that I live in America and cannot find any puppies for sale. I will be forever in debt to the anon that helps me. >pic related
>>1990468 Would have done exactly what that guy did, but if it kept coming back I would have grapped a piece of wood or something and spank that fucker till it cried, then let it go. Teach that fucker it doesn't WANT to come back.
>>1990059 My dog (greyhound) got poisoned before. I let her out for the night and she went into the bedroom to sleep. About an hour later I heard her crashing down the hallway, walking like she was drunk and shaking. This was Christmas night so to the emergency vet we went. When we got there she threw up mightily and kept trying to even when she was empty. The vet sent me home to check the backyard for anything that she may have gotten into. The only thing I found was a frozen piece of meat with what looked like peas in it.... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Back on topic, me and my autism drew this a while back. Supposed to live on Earth in a quasi-ice age 50 million years in the future. Uses it axe-shaped head covered in armor to ram through thick ice to surface for air and to ambush prey walking on the ice.
I imagined it being 90 meters long, with 2 meter high teeth lining its mouth...
>>1989346 While I cant get into too specific biology because im completely ignorant when it comes down to stuff at that level, the general idea was that this form of reproduction evolved way before they became the species they are now. Millions of years before they were turtle/trilobite-esque animals that lived in large ponds that were created by the roots of plants basically making sections in a large lake. These proto-whistlers would have a hard time leaving their individual ponds and genetic diversity would become a problem, except some... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>1990158 but >>1965102 says that sex is done between same sex couples, wouldn't that make males entirely redundant? Unless the males also lay eggs, in which case maybe alpha and beta would be a better definition than female and male, if they both exchange genetical information trough a giant wiggly penis and lay eggs. Or are groups of males supposed to ninja on females egg laying and spray their own genes all over it?
