Hey /an/, I need some help. I rescued a kitten yesterday, she's ~2 months old and was abandoned either by someone or by her own mother. She has some respiratory problems but I already started medicating her ( 0,5 ml of antibiotic from 12 to 12 hours). I already took her to the vet, and everything seems to be fine, she has no external parasites, and I've already started deworming her and my other cats. She was afraid to leave her box yesterday, but today she started to get very comfortable around me, she's likes it when I grab her and pet her a lot. Now the problem is that when she isn't sleeping, eating or being petted she just wanders around my room meowing very loud until I pick her up and wrap her up in a shirt/blanket. Should I be giving her so much attention? Or will she be really spoiled when she grows up? Also, general tips for taking care of her are appreciated.
>>2156169 Depends on what kind of personality you desire. If you want a close relationship and a lap cat, then give it lots of love and attention. If you want a more independent cat, then ignore it when it's being needy.
Yep, corn snakes are a great choice for first time snake. Docile, active, good feeding response. Other good options are rosy boas (small size) and the antaresia pythons. Most common antaresia are Children's python (small) and spotted python (medium size). Rosys and the antaresia pythons can be nippy as babies but tame down very easily.
Are shiba inus bad for first time dog owners even if I hire a trainer or take it to obedience school? I've wanted a dog for a while but I don't think many dogs are cute, but I think shibas are (my friend pointed out they look like cats so that's probably why I find them adorable) which is why I want one over other breeds that are known to have more cooperative temperaments
You sound like a bad pet owner If you only care about a dogs looks because it resembles a cat, get a cat Are you this stupid? Don't subject an innocent animal to your stupidity please. If you do end up getting a Shiba, please go to hell. Sage
i just dogsat two shiba inus with my roommate, who is a dog trainer for a living. They are incredibly naughty. one of them chewed up all of their toys to nothing and when they played together they were screaming at eachother and chasing cats (that were their size, mind you) they are not a beginner dog
Also literally everyone will be like wow a mini husky and wont believe you when you say its a purebred shiba inu and this is how big it will grow
Hey /an/, my doggo died a few days ago, but somehow, I don't feel sad, and I find myself to not think about him as much as I thought i would. I didn't cry when he passed away or when I buried him. Don't get me wrong. I loved him dearly and i gave him the best life i could. Have any of you guys experienced the same thing?

I noticed my dog was really agitated and itchy, felt her and pulled a sticker out of her fur and scratched the spot for her. After I did, she started rubbing/rolling on me and licking me. It really seemed like she was thankful, but I'm not sure if I'm anthropomorphism or what.
After seeing the same cat appearing on my lawn for the past 4 days, I sent it to SPCA this morning. I paid attention to the hrs it appeared yesterday; I saw her at 11am, 4pm and she was literally knocking my front door at 10pm. I was debating whether I should sent her away or leave her be, and I talked with my parents but they refused to share the house with the cat. The first thing I did this morning at 8am was to see if it's still here, and sure enough it's waiting under bushes. I assumed that she is homeless and took her to the organization, but I feel horrible... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2155039 They made great pets. They can be loud on their wheels at night because they are nocturnal, but ive noticed if i bring her outside a lot and let her run around during the day, shes not as noisey or active at night. Temperament can very but they are generally pretty docile. Their quills do hurt if you try to grab them while they are scared, so maybe not the best for young children.
I was cleaning out my closet today and found my rock collection from when I was a kid. I kind of want to start collecting them again. Anyone know some good stores or places (I live in GA) I can buy or find cool rocks/minerals?
Hey /an/. I'm really frustrated right now so I thought I'd try and get some of this off my chest and make a thread for those with similar stories.
My family's 16 year old cat is dying. They left him alone without a sitter for a week then came back on Sunday and noticed he hadn't eaten at all. Now its Tuesday, he's completely collapsed and will probably die in a few hours but they still refuse to take him to the vet to end his suffering. I've offered to pay for the euthanasia as soon as I found out but they refused. I live hundreds of miles... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Same with me, my mother wouldn't let me buy crickets for my fish once making it starve (it was a killifish). My dad was working at construction longer than usual and didn't come home until 3 hours after he died. My dad was a chill guy and would take me out to buy the crickets.
Also, i noticed in all these stories it almost always is the mother's or sibling's fault.
My cat keeps following me and bothering me, it is really annoying and she keeps rubbing her face on my leg, as if she is attached to me. I play with her and feed her, but she keeps on following me and annoying me a lot. she wont leave me alone. She does not attack me, she just likes my comfort. How can I get her away from me? keep in mind, she is not a kitten.
Let's have thread to talk about and discover animal themed video games, may they be simulation, management, virtual pet games etc...
Pic related, SimPark was one of the first video game i ever had. You had to manage your own natural park, buy animals, place the right kind of plants to prevent them to starve, and buy entertainment structures for the visitors. You also had a minigame to discover new species, closely inspired by basic scientific methods.
I can also think about spore, zoo tycoon, sims pet expansion, nintendogs... any other ideas?
>>2155864 What kind of cage is it being housed in? If you can, cheapest thing to do is get an Expen and place it somewhere on hard floors, and let it live in the expen. Put down newspaper to absorb piss and put fleeces/blankets on top, shake the fleeces out every so often and wash them as needed. The newspaper should be changed at least every third day. If you can't use an Expen, look into C&C cages. Very inexpensive and since it's diy very customizable. Do the same shit with the bedding; use newspaper and linens... Comment too long. My cockatiel Vasko just died at the age of 16 Funny how it happens so fast. Only a week ago he was just "Old man Vasko". I expected him to live to at least 20.
Yesterday he was at the bottom of his cage all day, and was falling asleep constantly. I checked what could be the cause and said I would take him to the vet in a couple of days. Today he was vomiting after drinking water, his girlfriend, a corella even went to comfort him at that point.
I come home from the gym and he's dead. Happened all very fast. Had him basically all my life,... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
