Got a male donkey then a little bit later we get a female donkey. She came to our farm pregnant and is still pregnant but it seems like they've boned already. Question is, will the male donkey take care of the kid that isn't his? Will it even know that this kid isn't his?
So my huge, aggressive hell-beast got in a fight with a smaller but no less ready-to-rumble neighbor dog two hours ago, receiving only shallow punctures and abrasions to her chest and legs that I cleaned and smeared neosporin on. However, in the last 20 minutes she started shuddering bodily on the inhale and didn't want to get up to go outside when I called (she usually does). I've read in my frantic googling that dogs can shudder as a reaction to pain (I only had rubbing alcohol on hand, and the wounds had mud and straw rubbed into them before cleaning so I had to... I would go to the vet just to be safe, anon. It could be nothing serious but it could be life-threatening, it's hard to tell.
Put it this way, if you rush to the vet and find out it's nothing, you might feel silly/stupid for freaking out and wasting money when she was fine... But if you don't go to the vet and you find out too late that it was something serious and she dies, you'll never forgive yourself. So just go, just to be safe.
I hope your dog will be ok. Please keep us updated.
>>2264751 A good cage cleaning and some Provent a mite and reptile relief (followed by a good soak session) worked pretty well for me. If your other snake is in close proximity to your first one then theres a very good chance it's infected too. Trash ANY wood decor in the tank, swap out the bedding for newspaper or paper towel, give the tank a good once over with the PAM in a well ventilated room (remove the water dish and keep your snakes the fuck out of said room, the fumes are toxic. Use the time it takes to dry to spray... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Maybe. The 'dog alarm clock' depends on the dog. They aren't really trained to do it, they just know it's breakfast time so they bug you to wake up. The best thing you can do is feed your dog at exactly the same time every day.
But it just depends on the dog. My puppy is worthless in the alarm clock area. She's just as content to sleep in as I am. Doubly so if it's a chilly morning.
>>2264581 >they just know it's breakfast time so they bug you to wake up
my dog knows it's bathroom time so he wakes us up around 7:30
unless we entice him to eat with treats/mix-ins, he won't eat his breakfast until around 3pm. he eats his dinner on time no problem though.
I know he's doing this because he probably prefers one meal a day, but he's at a higher risk of bloat (deep chest, breed prone to bloat, rigorous exerciser), so he needs to eat two... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Hello guys, I am new here and don't know if this is the place to ask, but I feel like it is. Can you please tell me if it is normal for a puppy to have darker poops. My dog is a Dogo Argentino 3 months old. I have been feeding him high quality puppy food and was wondering if the food can color the poops this way. Another not is that he does not seem to show any signs of being in pain or anything even if I lightly push on his stomach. I am considering to take him to the vet, but I have had frequent visits (at least once a month) for vaccines and they have always said that... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

So I'm thinking of getting a banana slug for a pet, and I wanted to know if there's anything I should know about keeping an animal like this when it's a cold season. Do I need a heatlamp or anything? Is it wise to get one now or should I just wait for spring?
There's a science company in California that sellls them for laboratory use that will ship them overnight to NY where I live
I've kept a pet slug before, but it was a native leopard slug.
This thread will be about sightings of any animals that are supposed to be extinct. Passenger pigeon, thylacine, imperial woodpecker, dodo birds, pterosaur, whatever extinct animal. I want to hear anecdotes from you guys. Were y'all scared, shocked, excited when y'all saw one? Tell us about your sightings.
Can anyone give me advice on how to get rid of these fuckers? At this point all the money and treatment has prevented my pet from getting fleas but they seem to live in the carpet now and jump on humans. None of my friends want to come over anymore and I'm going mad. Im about ready to just bomb the whole place
I'm pretty confident I have bedbugs because I have had them before (years ago) and I found a live one the other day. Does anyone have experience successfully getting rid of them without an exterminator? Please help, they're ruining my life!
What Organisms would /an/ put on an exoplanet devoid of life but that lays in the habitable zone of its parent star?
the planet is slightly smaller than earth, say 90% the mass of earth. the Planet has slightly longer days and is slightly warmer than earth. The planet does have Carbondioxide, Hydrogen and Nitrogen in its atmosphere but less Oxygen than earth does. Genetically modified organisms are allowed.
>>2261366 >>2261375 OP said the planet is "devoid of life", everything you suggested heavily depends on other life already being there, stop being so stupid. Primary and secondary succession are ecology 101.
You start with lithotroph or chhemoautotroph bacteria and archaea like cyanobacteria, for example Chroococcidiopsis that build up an organic base for primary colonizers like moss, fungi and lichen and of course a multitude of other microorganisms. I use a brand called espree (I think). You can dilute it with water 16:1 and they have different shampoos for different needs (sensitive skin, sprayed by a skunk, etc). Lasts forever when you dilute it.
Despite having a double coat my guy is pretty low maintenance when it comes to grooming. Brush him once a week with a pin brush, sometimes use a furminator but not often. The most success I ever had though was with a rake brush while he was wet. Took out clumps of dead fur enough to build myself another dog.
Just a vent thread about the average intelligence of your average pet owner. I suppose it also extends to our plant friends for those of you who are garden elitists.

>>2258438 Jesus, all the fucking time here. See a dog on the road, take the time to go door to door to find owners. All the people are like "such a sweet dog, not mine sorry. How nice of you to try and find owner." 20 houses later get to a house with open garage/gate. Guy working on car with a beer in hand and dog runs up to him. "Oh yea that's my dog. Shoulda just left it to get run over, it's always getting out and stuff, it's such an escape artist." Guy goes back to doing his shit and just... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Hi, I bought a nebuliser for my rat who had respiratory problems, it saved her life on a few occasions. I used it with water to clear her Airways then nebulised the antibiotics and steroids that she was on. It only cost about £90 maybe $150? Total lifesaver. Ps, it was a human one, I just rigged up a little tank to put her in and the pipe pumped into the tank. A specialist in rats helped me. Good luck, hope your baby is ok.
My family is planning to visit me in NYC and they will be bringing their cat along. The cat is very skittish and freaks out even on a 10 minute ride to the vet. The trip is about 9-11 hours in a crowded car, then the cat has to stay in a studio apt it has never been in. On a scale of 1-10, how bad of an idea is this?
I'd say its a 9.5, wow, it won't work, you'd have to keep it confined the whole time and it'd panic, could even go into shock. Very dangerous. I tried to get my cat to come into my new house (just round the corner from my old house), she panicked so much she ran into the closed patio doors and injured herself. Cats hate change, especially if it's forced upon them. You'd be better leaving kitty at home and getting someone to call round and feed/pet her.
"Manta Rays repeatedly swim in front of the mirror, turning over to show their undersides and moving their fins. When in front of the mirror, they blow bubbles, an unusual behavior. What the rays don't do is try to socially interact with the mirror image. All of this suggests that the rays might recognize it’s themselves they’re seeing in the mirror, not another ray. However, a classic mirror test using marks on the rays’ bodies has yet to be done. If rays can pass a mark test, it’s a more solid indication of self-recognition abilities."
