Objectively, what is the most difficult/complicated to care for animal that I can have as a pet? I'm looking for a challenge. Dogs and cats need not apply. I don't want something that can outlive me though. I'm not saying no cockatoo's but.......no cockatoo's.
i'm looking for some advice. i love salamanders, i a currently looking into getting some but i have a few problems. 1. i'm from Washington state so i dont know where i can get my hands on any. (standard pet stores say its illegal to stock them, so if there are any salamander enthusiasts in Washington on /an/ right now i would love to here where you got yours) 2. i only have experience with reptiles, i have a 3 year old bearded dragon, so if i can get some advice on keeping amphibians in general i would appreciate it.
also salamander/newt general

Pretty sure they aren't illegal. But there's a ban coming soon to the USA (on the 28th I think) and imports from non native animals and inter state trade will be banned. So try to find someone in your state who breeds salamanders, and go from there I guess; you won't have luck in any other way.
If someone seriously mocks you for that, fuck them.
Of course that doesn't mean you should treat your animal like a human. If you have a cat, consider what a cat needs to be happy. If you have dog, consider it's needs, and so on.
Also nothing wrong with being silly like talking gibberish to your pet. But you must accept that someone may call you silly for it. That may seem to contradict the first thing I said, but it doesn't. Life has the strange quality that it is both the most serious and most ridiculous thing at the same time.

Can you guys help me identify what type of lizard this is I found it outside my work motionless on the ground. I brought him home cause I have a few reptials already and had a spare cage and light fixture to help it get warm. My search led me to believe it might be a Florida scrub lizards but am still unsure. Thank you for any help you can provide
Hamsters. My sister got two dwarf hamsters, a male and a female for her birthday - they were pretty chill for a while, but recently one of them (the male, I assume) started to become really aggressive. Whenever you try to touch him he tries to bite immediately, and I often hear them fighting and squeeking. The other one is already injured too, and they stopped sleeping together. What's wrong with him? Do we have to just separate them? Or is this their mating ritual?
I don't know shit about hamsters, and it's pretty obvious my sister doesn't either,... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
How can I tell if a cat is male or female with a ton of long hair and is fixed? The guy I got him from said he was a male and got him fixed and stuff but everyone asks me if its a girl and assumed it's a girl and I got medicine from the vet and it said (fe) next to his name and I'm not sure if that means feline or female

>>2045108 sorry about your mum OP, and sorry that you've got to deal with a bunch of drama from a crazy ho. i'm sure you dont need that right now. put bleach in the water like Fish said and fuck her off, man
>>2045100 How does owning spiders compare to owning similar size small pets, like a rat? When I was a kid my mothers friend had a tarantula and I thought it was kickass but, unlike most pets what do you DO with them. You can't really train them, you just kinda, look at them and feed them till they die? What is the appeal vs a pet that's more 'interactive'? Also waiting for arthropodmale to show up
>found a pit bull puppy in the shelter >think it's cute >remember stereotypes >do some research >conflicting opinions and facts >fuck. On one hand, some say they are nice and gentle and loving if they're not raised by assholes, on the other hand some say they are aggressive and dangerous because it's in their DNA and that they make up most dog attack cases.

>>2045011 they are perfectly fine dogs with a good owner. the reason they are involved in so many attacks is because it's so common for shitty owners to get a pitbull as a status symbol in their ghetto neighborhood.
I love APBTs and pittmutts. I have worked in a shelter, doggy daycare, grew up with a APBT and currently have a mix.
>Are they normal loving dogs if they're raised right? Is it even true that a lot of attacks are committed by them? Yes. They are genuinely goofy, loving dogs but your run of the mill dog owner is also an idiot. Most people just think by getting a puppy or dog into the family, it'll just melt in perfectly on it's own. The problems arise when they consider said dog to be inconvenient to them because they can't... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
