>>2256629 If you can get that close for a pic I would take it to a shelter. Swelled mouth means difficult time eating, a huge survival factor for stays. Likely some sort of infection from eating stuff on the streets.
God, fucking damn it! He's 5 months old and we've been consistent in letting out regularly to piss and shit and he's always got chances to but he still fucking pisses and shits on the floor with no warning. He even pees in his crate still! I can't handle it anymore, he's got one more month. I love him to death but I'm not putting up with this shit for much longer. I've heard of dogs getting basically pottytrained in weeks, why the goddamn hell is it so hard for him? I want to enjoy my dog but I literally can not even let him in... Comment too long. How many of you guys actively try to attract crows? I am fascinated with crows, I would love to have them visit my front yard. I placed peanuts in my front yard, but have had no success. I always see them fly a few blocks near my house. They usually hang out by this big field. I tried putting peanuts there too, but so far they haven't seen them. Should I put peanuts there and then place peanuts closer and closer till they eventually fly over my house and see the peanuts? What do y'all suggest? Besides drinking bleach. Would crows appreciate corn too? They sell deer... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I try during spring/summer, since they fuck off any other time. They have no interest in any bird feeders I have, but I also don't have trees in my backyards so I mostly get house sparrows, doves and starlings while neighbors with trees get plenty of song birds and crows. Does not matter what feed I put out.
For crows if I see them around my house like on the powerlines, I throw some shit out and walk away. It got them comfortable enough to hang around my house a little more during these times but thats as far as I've gotten. I am not sure how well crows smell but they seem to be attracted to food that actually has a smell. If they are around, look to see if they are looking at you. Throw some smelly food and walk away. You don't have to put a dead cow in front of your yard but maybe some meat may help.
So the point is. I took 2 2-month-old kittens, brother and sister, to my home, and they kind of hate me... or atleast fear me alot. Much hissing etc. Also they preffer to piss on my blankets and do not recognize litter box as dump deposit. Do you guys know what drugs, plants, activities or so on use to help get my kittens tolerate me? Have you been in similar situation? I know they might be in stress because I took them from a shelter and they might be sick also a bit, which might indicate this kind of behaviour. TL;DR My kittens hate me. What to do?
No, dogs can become distressed, but they don't cry. It's probably reverse-sneezing and its owners either genuinely believed it was crying or just wanted to get a viral video out of it.
To be honest, although you get those folklore stories about loyal dogs staying at their master's grave for years, it's extremely unlikely that most dogs would be able to make a connection between a burial plot and their owner, especially with modern burial techniques. Stay around their home or some other familiar spot waiting for them to return, yes, but they're... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>cats/dogs/birds/reptiles >constant shedding, fur, feathers everywhere >worms, toxoplasmosis, human transmittable diseases galore >sometimes unclean, borderline filthy >the smell, oh god the smell >loud, often obnoxious >poop flowing endlessly like an obscene cornucopia
>fish/axolotols >literally no shedding >diseases transmittable to humans are virtually unheard of >aquariums have no smell >completely silent, most considerate companions >poop dissolves and later recycled by bacteria, thereby nourishing the aquatic plants >the fish are being washed constantly by water, making them extremely clean pets
I adopted my dog about two weeks ago. So far, he's been sleeping with me during the nights, and on the kitchen during the days (IF he naps). He has his own comfy bed and has water at all times.
The thing is, I heard after a few days, I should stop him from sleeping with me or he'll start feeling anxious without me. Can I let him sleep on the kitchen during the night? Is there a downside to it? So far, he hasn't cried or anything.
>>2255320 >a young puppy >not making him sleep in the crate It's like you want him to shit on your bed and all over your kitchen.
Also>>2255321 this, basically. If you teach it from a very early age that it can sleep in your bed and jump up there whenever it wants, you're going to have behavior problems when it gets into its adolescent phase and starts acting rebellious. It's going to think... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2255322 Yeah, I've heard about that too, which is why he doesn't sleep in my bed during the day. He also doesn't shit on my bed (he just starts crying if he wants to go and is on it).
Wouldn't it be ok if I just let him go to the bathroom just before making him go to sleep? I get up at 6-7am normally. >Just force him down to the ground and hold him there until it submits I've tried that SO many times, and he just keeps struggling. Really, he NEVER gives up. What do?!
>>2253926 Small dogs were originally bred for chasing small pest animals into burrows and brambles and other narrow escape routes, where larger dogs would be forced to give up the chase, allowing the pest to return and cause more damage (eating and shitting on food supplies, biting children, gnawing houses, etc.). It was only later when breeders started selecting for "cute" infantile characteristics in the adult form for sale to rich women as pets that the small dogs started having problems.
Seriously, every fucking step i take i see a reply that says "catz sould be kalled awfl creters" why does this board shit on cats so much. Here are reasons why cats are equal to dogs (this is for any dog worshipper): >They are intelligent, while dogs chase their own tail. >They are independent while dogs need attention all the time >They learn how to use a litter box in a matter of weeks while some dogs just shit and piss everywhere. >They... Why isn't it considered animal abuse to own a cat and dog? You are exposing the dog to toxoplasmosis against its will. You are literally destroying another living creature's health just to have a cat (which doesn't even care about you).
As most dog owners know, both male and female dogs hump, not for sexual reasons, but to show dominance and play. Dogs play fight and dogs hump. It's what they do. Even neutered and spayed dogs do that. So why do some fucktards get their jimmies rustled when a dog humps theirs while they were playing? Especially since it's not being aggressive. It's basically dog behavior. What do these jackasses expect dogs to do?
>Feel good thread Aside from adopting, have you rescued any animals? I wrangled some heron last week while visiting my old neighborhood that was caught up in some rope. Found what I thought was a dead hatchling snapping turtle once in a dried up puddle and was going to keep it because I thought it was already a mummy but for kicks I put it in some water and well damn it was a active little fucker so I let him go in a pond.
Doesn't have to be wild animals either. The dog I grew up with was horrifically emaciated and brown, found... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Someone ran over a mom raccoon. She had babies. I saw it happen. One baby hissed and ran and the other climbed up my leg and on to my shoulders. Taught that little nigga to catch crayfish, swim, and find wild vegetation. He comes back about once or twice a week and I have him wild berries.
There isn't anything wrong with crossbreeding itself, the issue is the vast majority of it is backyard breeder shit and we have way the fuck too many random mixed dogs already and theres usually no reason for it.
Often you can't predict what the result will be, even if you know the breeds very well. Sometimes even crossbreeding different lines in one breed can result in dogs with incorrect bite, ear problems and so on.
because it is better to breed a healthy golden retriever with another healthy golden retriever instead of creating a mutt which the shelters are already full of. The poodle cross running around everywhere are bad enough. Fuck just get damn poodle. They are better dogs than every cross I've meet and most of the crosses just look like poodle anyway so it isn't like you are protecting your manliness with a cross. Never understood the want for a poodle cross when poodles are already such great dogs.
Can anyone identify this bizarre animal for me? I've narrowed it down to goose but the exact species I can't pinpoint. I looked at a bird guide and the only bird with a bump on its snout is a mute swan and this ain't it. It was hunting with a pack of Canada geese if that helps.
>want to adopt a dog >get in contact with kennel >have to fill out questionnaire and provide ID beforehand >ok fair enough >have to go through a selection process afterwards >if I'm selected I have to have a meet and greet session with the dog??? >if that goes well the carer of the animal will then conduct an inspection of my property to deem if it is suitable >if it is I then get to opportunity to pay $600 to adopt the dog >atop that once I actually buy the dog, I then have to go through a 2 week trial period where the carer inspects me and the dog to make sure all is well >once the trial period is over I get to actually own the dog
