Cats prefer food at body temperature - the same as freshly killed prey.
Male dogs tend to be more demanding of attention and affection from humans. Females are generally more independent and inconsistent in their focus on their human companions. Females may prefer to abandon cuddle time to go off on their own after a few minutes, whereas males are likely to stick around and get pampered.

Cats purposely perform what is called "solicitation purring" by combining a high-frequency cry that is superimposed on a soothing low-frenquency purr. It's the same tactic used by human infants to solicit response from their parents when they need something. Your cat normally does this when it needs something, too, usually after getting close to your face to make sure you hear it. If your cat is laying on your head purring at 6am, and you feel a mysterious sense of urgency to pay attention to them... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2244311 >they don't attack unless provoked. And even if you accidentaly walk to close to a nest - how hard is it to fight off an animal that's less than 10% of your mass? People just see a hissing bird and they're scared shitless.
Hey /an/, how many times have you accidentally killed one of your pets? e.g. you weren't looking when you sat down, you forgot to feed it, fed it/let it drink something it's not supposed to, etc. Be honest.
>>2236773 My sister slammed a kittens neck in a door by accident. It slowly suffered as I cried with my little brother we were 4 and 5. I don't remember where my dad was we just waited for my mom to come home because we thought she was the only one who could fix it.
Let's talk about stereotypes. Animal owner stereotypes, animal stereotypes, etc.
I don't know if this is a true stereotype, but I always assume bird people are women. They seem on the same tier as cat people. Pretty much everyone online who likes birds (and rats tbqh) seems to be a woman or girl. Likewise, reptile and fish people are usually men.
yeah i've noticed the bird thing, every single bird owner i know of is a female. they also love rats/mice. i think it's because they're small and fairly calm. maybe because of the sounds they make too.
She doesn't look too bad. I see a bit more hip than I should like in a dog of that shape, but she doesn't appear skeletal. What I see most is that she could do with more muscle mass. What is she fed, and how much of it do you feed her? What are her poops like? How old is she?
I'm really curious /an/gels, how long do you have to keep a dog before you pay a vet to put him down.
I'm thinking about doing my part in lowering the amount of stray dogs on the streets and adopting them from dog shelters that picked them up from the street, and putting them down asap. I want to repeat this as many times as possible before I die.
Don't worry, I won't abuse them or mistreat them while they are in my care.
>>2249787 I can see doing it off the street with feral dogs. But don't do that to shelter dogs. I get people that come in and ball their fucking eyes out on the spot when they learn the dog they wanted to adopt was already adopted out. It's honestly at least a daily occurrence. You'd be a shitty person from taking that person's dog just to kill it.
Your thinking is completely backwards; you want to lower the amount of dogs on the streets, by adopting the ones that aren't on the streets, are already fixed and actually adoptable, and kill them. If you want to help lower the amount of dogs on the streets, you need to tackle the dogs on the streets, not the ones not on the streets.
I'm getting a new kitten in a few weeks and am finding a lot of conflicting info online about feeding your cat chicken/tuna/salmon etc (either raw or cooked). I bought some dry food (Taste of the Wild) but the vet recommends combining it with wet food to avoid UTIs. So I was thinking of feeding dry food in the morning and wet food at night, for example.
My question is: Would it be better for me to just feed my cat some chicken/fish rather than a can of wet food? Or would they be missing any vital nutrients this way? I'm just trying to do what... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I fed mine just high quality wet food. Rikki cat for treats, perfect bistro for main diet. He didn't eat that much so it only cost me about 40 bucks a month.
They definitely need the wet food and preferably in the morning and night, if not for their main diet. Getting them used to eating a few different flavours will also save you a lot of frustration if you end up having to switch brands. Switching protein sources once in a while is also good.
Dry food is not great for cats! You should think about feeding canned food for all of his meals. Here's a great resource: http://www.catinfo.org/
What food you feed them really depends on what your budget is. Personally I feed the cheapest grain free thing I can find, preferably with no fish. I feed a large variety of foods since the companies aren't as reliable and I worry about brand recalls.
I feed Paws and Claws, 4Health, Wellness (in the big can), Soulistic (from Petco), and Fancy Feast Classics. I have two kittens and they eat a ton of food.
Anyone know what to do with with these things? Our house backs up to some woodlands and they just keep coming.
I want the fuckers dead. What are all the murderous methods that these hippy eco-friendly animal-hugging websites won't tell me?
I have a Wire Tek 1001 EasySet Mole Eliminator Trap but have never caught a single thing with it (after following the directions carefully). At this point there is a 10' x 5' patch of soft dirt on the side of my house that I can't even locate tunnels in. The entire patch is like quicksand.

Hey, an, I have a problem... On my block, there is this old man that leaves cat food out. Since he's started this he has attracted hordes of cats, kittens, and other critters. Now, he's a genuinely nice person, so I wouldn't want him to get in trouble or suffer emotionally but the cats need to go. Is there any non-malicious way to get rid of them?
Tell him to stop since they are bothering his neighborhood? As long as you aren't a dick about it, he won't "suffer emotionally". Cats&co also won't stop coming as long as he puts food out, even if you poison them or put a guard dog.
Is it really true that when they ended up as strays in the streets of Istanbul that they couldn't fend for themselves because they couldn't assert themselves among all of the mutts that were their competition for food? Why are golden retrievers such pussies?
This is my mastiff puppy. He's 6 most ths old and he barks at pigeons, once jumped out of a car window, eats like a madman despite being fed the right amount, and in general, he's really fucking stupid. Also, nearly every time he greets my girlfriend at the door, he pees. He doesn't even realize it. We can't discipline him at all becuase he's too idiotic to understand discipline of any kind.
