What would be the best way of introducing an 8 week puppy to a 12 years old cat ? I've got a puppy-proof kitchen and a crate. I was thinking about confining the puppy in the kitchen for the first few days, except when walking him or playing with him of course. Then maybe let the cat come into the kitchen while the puppy is in his crate, and go from there.
I'm guessing progressively increasing interaction is the way to go, is it ?
It depends on the personality of the cat, but I think you're on the right track We had a similar situation, had to get a kitten to warm up to a six month old black lab pit mix and an old shihzu mix We just kept him in our laps and let them sniff him at first, then we would lay him with them while they were sleeping and let them walk up to him while he was on the floor At first he got pissed and stood there or just ran, but after only two months he was laying next to the old one on his own and he plays with both of them enthusiastically I wish you the best of... Hello /an/, I'm looking for silent videos and documentaries about animals & nature. No commentary, just footage, similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sirvGWReno Do you have any links or recommendations?
Bison have a little bit of an edge when it comes to weight so i'm giving it to them. not sure who has the edge when it comes to horns, sure the Cape buffalo's horns are bigger but they kinda curve over, looks like the bison horns have more stabbing potential. Either way I bet it would be a close match
Never owned a dog, Dog sitting 2 dogs. I don't know if the Labrador is trained or not. If I am not playing tug of war with it or petting it, it whines/moans/barks. I've tired it out to the point of it can barely hold onto it's toy and if I even look away from it, it starts whining, barking, and nudging at it's toy. Try playing with it again, and the toy just lays in it's mouth. Ignoring it for 30+ minutes just consisted of barking/moaning. Telling it 'No' in a stern voice just results in barking/moaning. What am I doing wrong?
>ignore any whining/barking/nudging of toys, it could take a couple of hours before they stop the first few times, but dogs eventually get tired >only initiate play when dog is quiet >eventually dog learns that being quiet means you'll start to play with it and being annoying means nothing will happen ever
By giving in after half an hour or reprimanding him, you are rewarding his efforts with attention, and teaching him that if he whines for 30 minutes he'll eventually... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
So about a month ago Dec. 19 to be exact I got my first reptile Bearded dragon like the title says Temperature gradient and humidity in tank are correct Fresh food (reptile munchies omnivore mix and vitabugs crickets) and water every day But it doesn't eat once a day like a juvenile should And it refuses to get any protein when it does eat In the month that ive had it, only ate one cricket, no meal worms or anything else Used to eat the green beans and carrots but now only eats lettuce and banana Which only happens like once every three days Was... >>2038564 its limbs look abnormally scrawny, definitely not eating like it should. Might have intestinal blockage, what kind of substrate is in its tank? you didn't give it that bullshit calci-sand garbage the pet stores try to push on you, did you?
Actually I think the limbs of all the beardies at the pet store looked like that if I remember correctly They werent in a very big tank either Smaller than a ten gallon, about half And there was about 10 in there
in the shelter I'm at, GSDs are always the most neurotic shitty dogs. the puppies we get in are fine, but only one over 6 months wasn't this way. that's pretty standard for them here as well
rotties are pretty much the same as GSDs around here but less common. just got one in yesterday who is probably the scariest dog I've ever seen. he's the only dog we've had that I'm actually afraid to even walk by his kennel
dobermans are usually pretty chill in my experience
that being said, I think dobermans are the least healthy,... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
When I worked at a vet hospital, most of the highly aggressive dogs were GSDs, and GSDs were only a very small fraction of the canine patients we saw. It's ridiculous how many of them were neurotic shitheads.
Every doberman and rottweiler I've met were absolute sweethearts. Rottweilers were all either really aloof or goofy, and dobermans seem to be really clingy with their owners.
GSDs are very versatile, but the typical GSD personality I've seen makes me think the average pet GSD is shit-tier. Rottweilers seem to get fat really easily, but are big... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
