Who here /California/ ? I'm staying near San diego. Anybody know some cool places to go hiking or any other activities really. Im from the east coast and lovin this weather i want to nature as much as possible. Pic related. It's La Jolla beach in Oceanside.
Weird question but are there any dog breeds that are notoriously quiet? I don't mean just barking. I kind of hate dog-noises, like whining and the weird heavy breathing a lot of them do. I'm used to cats. Most of the dogs I've met who were quiet were just like that as individuals so I'm not sure if there's any breeds that are more inclined to not make sounds.
>>2038212 Well my wife and I are in the market for something her daughter can exercise with, and the cat is a no-go. I also want a quiet pup because the neighborhood we live in is full of angry, old people
I have the same problem. I'm absolutely going to get her spayed. I was going to anyways, I just thought I had more time before her first heat would kick in. My understanding is that you really shouldn't do it until after the heat. In the meantime, is there anything I can do? I've never had a cat in heat before and I'm not sure how to handle this. Do I just wait it out, or is there some kind of food or medicine I can give her to help calm her down?
What's the best diet for cats? I know kibbles aren't the best, but I'm not up for a raw diet. Should I feed a mix of kibbles and canned food, or just canned food? What brands? I tried doing my own research, but it's all super complicated and there's little agreement. It'd be nice if you could tell me why a diet/brand is better than everything else. Right now, I'm feeding my cat purina one kibbles with two cans of blue buffalo canned food a day. I know purina one isn't that great, but it's the least shit thing they had there.
>>2038116 I was thinking more along the lines of something commercial. I'm not the smartest and I don't want to fuck up, plus it would probably take a lot of time to plan out and put together. I'm just trying to avoid feeding my cat the equivalent of McDonald's for the rest of his life.
Ive read a few times that freeze dried is the best for cats, because there isnt the danger of raw and the nutrient loss of cooked. whatever u feed it, just remember to have little to no grain or fish. theres a type of canned food i get off the walmart online site because they never have it in stores called variety homemade.
My doctor has said that I should get a therapy animal to help with my anxiety and depression. I have decided to get a savannah cat or a serval- which are both very big animals. Right now, I live in the city next to the freeway in a very busy city so I do not want my cat to be an outdoor cat because this type of cat would be capable of jumping our fence and getting on the freeway and I also don't want it to get catnapped because these animals sell for a lot of money. Since these cats are both considered "exotic" cats/big cats, they do have extremely powerful... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Well declaring is cruel no matter the cat op. Did you do some research on these cats? I heard they're pretty high energy and give no fucks. I don't think your antiques would be alright even if you did let them outside in a rural area. Why not try an older dog or cat? Maybe there's an older cat that the previous owner declared already.
>getting a wild animal as a therapy animal >getting a huge, high-energy cat when you collect antiques >even considering declawing >wants to let a fucking serval be an outdoor cat
pls no pls no to all of this.
Get a shelter cat, an older cat that's either really laid back or already declawed from a previous owner. You don't need a speshul snowflake pet to keep you company. Savannah cats are notoriously destructive, and servals... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
sorry about your loss OP :( it's never easy to lose them
pic of my kitty. 3 years old but stopped growing when she was a just about five pounds. vet said she's healthy, just tiny. there used to be a hoarder that lived near my HS and never spayed his cats, so he had litters all the time and would go to the park next to campus during lunch and give away week old kittens to highschool kids..... my idiot "friend" took one and called me when she got home cause she couldn't care for her. I meant to bring her to the shelter, but got so attached I kept... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
sorry for your loss, he is a stud. rest easy sweet prince.
this is my cat pudding, she is 2 years old but like the above anon, pudding stopped growing after the 5th month. I rescued her from my friend's backyard in mexico, she was a newborn stray. she is now a spoiled american citizen who sleeps on my bed with me.
I don't often post here. And I am sorry if I annoy anyone with a thread like this.
About two hours ago my dog died. He lived with my parents, about 200 miles away from my place, so I wasn't with him. But the last time I saw him, two weeks ago, I said goodbye properly, since it was certain he would be gone soon. He was 15 years old, half blind and weak, didn't hear so well anymore, and, well, his hindlegs were barely functional in the end.
This is the last photo of him that my brother send to me last tuesday's eve. I don't... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2037976 He probably lived a good life. And he lived until his natural limits. That is how nature works. My previous dog died not from natural causes which is a sad thing. He wasn't always loved and he didn't get to live to old age. Be happy yours had a full life experience.
>>2038026 I was about 15 years old. Dog was about 7. He was ignored almost all of the time. We were pretty shitty owners. He only ate leftovers, old bread or nothing at all. As my father put it: If the dog does not eat mold bread, he is not hungry. Walking him out would be at best once a day for 10 minutes. The last 2 years of his life as i matured a bit i started to really appreciate him. Sneaking food for him, taking him with me wherever i go, petting him regularly. He learned some tricks and obedience. In return the little... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2037948 He looks like he would be a beautiful drag queen with those fake lips. Other than that I don't really care for him. I feel like he's mostly just a TV icon with no real knowledge on dog psychology.
I got a turtle yesterday as a gift, and I love him. I had a turtle for several years when I was younger, but that was so long ago, I'm a little rusty on knowing how to help him adjust to the move. I got him last night, he came with his tabk, but it was rearranged. He had a rock to climb onto, so I added another just so he'd have plenty of space out of the water. He also has a heat lamp, turtle pellets and small dried shrimp. But since we've gotten him, he hasn't eaten and won't come out of the water. Should I be worried? Me last turtle would climb onto...
