I need your opinion /an/:

What's the mammal you could use to describe the most other mammals? Give me examples

>ex: dog
otter = water dog
bear = tank dog
cat = claw dog
fox = sneaky dog

>ex: bear
raccoon = wash bear
squirrel/chipmunk = mini bear
beaver = wood bear
koala = tree bear/ drop bear

I usually think of rodents as the generic mammal, so I imagine that you could describe a lot of mammals with hamsters and rats.

It's not the breed, no really.

The kind of person who will want to own a chihuahua is the kind of person who should not own a dog, that's the problem.

There isn't anything built-in to them that makes them little cunts, it's being treated like precious little squidgy-widgy snugglebumps that does it.

What are some higher quality dry dog foods that are easier to chew? My dog does well on Acana but its a pretty dense kibble and she's having her teeth worked on soon.

Alternatively, is there any reason I shouldn't just switch her to a wet food for the time being until she's healed and can go back to the Acana?

Bonus points for low glycemic carb sources and NO lamb (gives her terrible gas).

A quick question but are bettas better in large tanks or smaller tank i will be upgrading to a larger tank soon and i will be left with a 32lt tank i wanna use i was thinking of keeping a betta.

I read around that bettas are happier in small tanks and viceversa so what is /an/ opinion or should i get other type of fish.
9 replies and 2 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>2240674
32l is not that small and should be fine for a betta. Some people keep them in 20l or less - Bettas in general don't mind, as long as it is not too cramped, since they are very hardy. That being said, of course betta can thrive in bigger tanks. Keep in mind that bigger tanks bring the benefit of a higher water volume, thus making more stable water parameters and having a bigger buffering capacity.

What do you do for your animals when it's their birthday/a holiday? Meat cake? Treats? Nothing?

I also want to do something special for my cat's birthday, but I don't want to give him too much to eat, but I still want to do something nice. Any ideas?
7 replies and 1 images submitted. Click here to view.

For my pets I usually get them a treat or two and splurge on higher quality things they have been needing like beds, toys, and other supplies. Might even make them some homemade treats or a meal if I have time, and just take the day to in general make them feel special and appreciated. Nothing too fancy, but it makes us both feel good even if they cant understand the reasoning behind it.
>>
For my dogs, a special walk. Maybe a new toy. A bag of treats they don't normally get.

Cats, nothing. We only know roughly what month they were born, not what day, so we never really celebrate birthdays. They get toys at Christmas though.

Hey /an/. So I've got this predicament. This morning my parents found this bird under a car. It's in a cage right now. I can pick it up without it biting me, and it almost seems fine until I let it go, and then it just flops over and stays there, almost paralyzed. He kinda just flops around in his cage when he moves, which is rare. What do?

In the pic it looks like I'm squeezing him. Don't worry, I'm picking him up gently from the top.

Pigs are far easier to farm than those other intelligent examples. As long as they're killed humanely it's not so bad.

Now what's really terrible in any modern society is halal butchering - complete lack of stunning, and prolonged slitting of the throat for utterly vile religious reasons (so the animal dies in ultimate fear and submission to 'Allah'). That's the sort of shit we should be banning (though it doesn't apply to pigs I guess).

Let him sniff. That is how he knows whats up with the area. It is like twitter for dogs. Unless he is sniffing trash, poo or something bad then teach him leave it.
Get some small chunks of chicken, hot dog or whatevs the dog really likes. Every time he sniffs something he shouldn't pull out the treat as soon as he stops sniffing it say leave it and have him come get the treat. Praise then repeat.
>>
>>2240154
Pretty much this.

It is fun for the doggo. Let him sniff and have a fun time. Walkies are supposed to be fun fun times.

That being said, if he digs in at a spot and wants to spend all day there, give them a happy "Let's go!" and just tug him along. He will eventually learn "let's go" means "oh shit time to keep moving or anon eill make me move".

Cases have been made from almost everything over the years.
If you get heavily into it, it would probably be more cost effective to build your own.
If you want pic related, you could re-purpose whatever glass you can find from old picture frames and such, build boxes with a cheap mitre saw and window trim from the local home improvement store.

"Games" should only be used to reward behavior you want to increase, so never play a game when your dog is doing bad behaviors.

Tug of war won't get better. Fucking off and chewing on the toy is the end of the game.

However, fetch does get better. Teach your doggo the "come" command, and command him to come after you throw the ball and he goes to get it. Then reward with treats if food motivated, or praise if otherwise motivated. Repeat often and daily, only after your doggo is doing desirable behaviors.
>>
>>2239970
Noted on tug.

Chewing on the tennis ball is too rewarding. He doesn't give two fucks about food or praise, so getting him to "come" after retrieving would be hard. All he wants to do is chew on the toy.

Any suggestions? The only thing I can think of is a higher value treat?
>>
>>2239973
>He doesn't give two fucks about food or praise once he has the ball in his mouth and starts chewinf on it
Fixed for clarity. He is quite food motivated, but he has this obsession with chewing on his toys. He never plays with them... just fucks off and chews.
