what kind of fish was it what were your tank parameters did you introduce anything new into the tank that may of given it a spike in ph or ammonia Did your water temp rapidly change without you noticing is your heater if needed still working? The white stuff could be ich which is generally brought out by stress from some area of husbandry being inadequately met
>>2239617 Feed every other day. You can do daily since its a juvenile. Pacmans have issues eating slugs and worms sometimes because they don't "stick" to their tongues and they can't pull them in. Mice should be fed to them sparingly or not at all. Goldfish are a better source of protein without all the fat. Nightcrawlers are also good.
There's a lot of debate of course. Some people claim goldfish are unhealthy because of disease/parasites. Some claim mealworms/superworms... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2239652 >Some claim mealworms/superworms can chew their way out of the stomach.
False. I'm not sure when that rumor started but i suspect it had to do with a mealworm or super biting a herp from the OUTSIDE. Which they will if let loose inside the tank and not collected after feeding time.
Digestive system environment is very quick death for worms even if they were swallowed whole. The idea that they could survive long enough to actually penetrate the stomach lining is completely absurd.
>>2239668 Thanks I've been feeding super worms but let a bunch loose in the tank, whenever I see them I catch them and drop them in front where he will eat prettty quickly. She seems completely uninterested in crickets though and will let them crawl all over her face
How in the hell are human beings capable of eating so much?
Seriously. We can eat SO MANY THINGS. Things that we didn't even fucking evolve around can be more nutritious and beneficial to us than the things we did evolve around. We can eat animals from COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ECOSYSTEMS to ourselves; ecosystems we didn't even fucking interact with until we were fully evolved. We can eat shit from the middle of the fucking ocean. We can eat huge numbers of plants and fungus... How is our stomach so adaptable? Most other animals can only survive and thrive on a very narrow, environment-specific diet. Not humans.
I mean, yes, there are PLENTY of things we cannot eat, and i may be falling victim to confirmation bias (i.e. we don't think of things we can't eat as food, despite other animals potentially being able to eat them) but as a species we probably have the most diverse diets, not just due to our ability to access them, but our built in ability to naturally absorb these foods.
>>2239615 Give me one reason why we WOULDN'T be able to eat a fish, bird or whatever. You're wording it as if you think things from different areas of the planet are made of entirely different and indigestible elements and substances, and you're also suggesting that humans have ever been restricted to one area/diet. Very bizarre question.
>>2239558 Call the authorities Anything else and I'm liable to get in legal trouble myself Lethal force is also illegal when regarding animals, at least in AZ, you can just physically interfere and protect the animal I suppose
>The Šarplaninac or Yugoslavian Shepherd Dog, is a dog breed of the livestock guardian type named after the Šar Mountains in the border area between Kosovo[a], Macedonia and Albania. It is a molosser-type mountain dog. The origin of the breed is uncertain, it may have come from Asia in the prehistoric era.
>take my dog outside to shit >notice this opossum outside >scream at my dog to get inside >opossum never moves >get my dog inside and go back outside >make a noise and toss a twig at it >shuffles 7-9 feet over and starts walking in circles >does this for 10 minutes >I walk up to within 2 feet... Quick question: I want to get a cat but not sure if my apartment is the right environment for one. It's a smallish studio loft apartment with no windows. Is this an OK place for a cat? I am home a lot of the time because I'm in school but just worried the lack of a window is not good for keeping a cat.
Also the only way up to the upper level is via a ladder, could I get one of those tall cat tower things so that he/she can climb up to me when I sleep?
>>2239260 >Rescue an older cat. Oh yeah that was the plan. I live in a city so lots of shelters. Wanted to get an older cat, something I don't have to worry about at night since I sleep somewhere that is probably not accessible.
So I was just at the a pond and I saw a duck swimming all alone on a cold October evening, is that normal or has the duck been left behind? I don't know much about ducks but it made me feel sad, there were also little bits of garbage floating in the pond around it which made it seem even sadder. I don't know maybe it's fine and I'm worrying about nothing.
Can I keep a tank without a heater/filter? How can I do this? What can I put in it?
Recently my male matured Asian forest scorpion died, so I have an enclosure empty, (4 gallon one) What can I add to it without using a heater/filter? Or better yet, should I move my tarantula into the 4 gallon tank and use the 10 gallon tank instead? What can I add to that and how can I maintain it?
The reason I don't want to buy a heater/filter is because I already have a fish tank, (pic related, I have a bit of algae and its not completed but it's been running up well for months) It's just that now that I have a chance to have another aquarium I'd like to if possible, but only if I can safely have some animals in it and I'll spend minimal costs. I'm fine with sticking to shrimps or a few small fish and doing often water changes, idk about heating
Basically I know the basics about keeping a tank but I dont know how I can go about... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
The worst fucking pets in the world >Hate people and constantly try to bite them >Constantly try to bite when clipping their nails >Shit everywhere because no control >Smell bad >Don't like being touched ever >Loud as fuck Why would anyone want these fucking things?
I can get wanting one of those red foxes that are being domesticated in Russia, but a Fennec Fox? They're completely wild. Owning a wild snake seems fine since they don't really do much but a fox is something different. People probably expect a dog or cat from a Fennec but they just seem loud, easily scared, and devoid of affection.
Turtles are pretty shitty pets for your average person, yet they are frequently sold in pet stores.
Common species like RES get pretty big and need massive tanks as adults. They also require very clean water and a varied diet. People never expect their growth and effort though, proceed to keep them in tiny tanks while feeding them only store bought pellets. This shitty care then frequently leads to all kinds of health issues like shell rot, pyramiding, vitamin deficiencies, etc.
And not to forget their lifespans. A turtle could be a comittment for the rest of your life.
what the fuck are these bastards and why are there 10 fucking million of them flying around my god damn face and monitor nonstop for like 5 months straight?
i cleaned the fuck out of my house 100 times over making sure there is no food or garbage anywhere, not the sink drain or stove tops or fucking anywhere
so ok i go to the store to buy this fucking thing and sure its got like 20 of them but theres still like a billion left. i almost think the killer thing is just attracting more into the house or something.
i have never ever had such a problem with... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
How would I go about making this an attractive place for lizards to hang out? I saw that with enough patience, you can sort-of tame them by feeding them meal worms and other bugs. I wanted to collect bugs/buy crickets and be able to sit here and feed them while still letting theme wild. I'm not much of a Gardener, but it's Mendocino county, CA if there are any hardy plants that can handle the seasons. Or I could just put rocks and fresh water if that will work too, with maybe some fake vines. I did want to attract some crickets out here, but I don't know how I... Comment too long. So my brother and sister in law really wanted a dog about a year ago. They have 4 kids, all under 4 years, so they wanted a dog that was very good with kids and high energy. The sister in law loves pit bulls, and was going to buy a puppy. Both of them completely ignored everyone advising them to not get a dog because they are already frustrated with the kids and complained about never having time. Yet they made it clear it was going to happen one way or another. I had an already trained, already fixed older dog looking for a home. She... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2238115 >It's your own fault for not wanting her spayed you shit.
You're not supposed to spay/neuter dogs until their growing cycle is over, which varies from 1 to 2 years depending on breed and sex. A male, large breed dog is around 2 years. Females are generally half a year less.
Hey /an/ I saw a mouse in my house a couple days ago so I set a couple those traps that don't hurt/kill it. Thing is I don't know wtf to do once I catch it. Like, I don't want to release it too close, that it ends up back in my house. I also don't want to release it too far that it ends up starving to death, cuz that'd kinda defeat the purpose yeah? I'd also rather not release it somewhere where it ends up going into someone else's home, and they just kill it
Is really the only thing I can do is give it a quick and... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2237912 You have a few options. You can humanely kill it, but killing it humanely is not easy or pleasant. You'd have to learn how to dispatch mice without getting bit. If you want to kill them inhumanly, you could have just saved yourself a lot of time and trouble by buying a kill mouse trap.
You could also keep it as a pet. Keep in mind it's still a wild animal.
You can find a distance that's just far enough away from your house, or keep the mouse from being able to get back in. Honestly, mice... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
How did your pet pass away? How did you know it was almost time? Any pet that you loved whether it be dog, cat, bird, fish, etc
My guinea pig whom i nicknamed "butthead" because he was a little troublemaker. Always escaping his floor pen and chewing on paper and trying to jump out of the tub when it was bath time.
But anyway, butthead lived to be 8 years old. I started noticing a major change in his behavior before realizing it was almost his time. He wasnt wheeking at me whenever the crinkling sound of a produce bag was made, he wasnt greeting me... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
What is the actual best medication to rid my dogs of fleas? I've tried a few store brands without success but they were the less expensive ones so maybe they just sucked. I have two large dogs and they're covered in fleas. I also tried to google it and all my results were basically just ads
