my dog died two weeks ago. she was a shihtzu, slightly larger than average and 2 years old.
i remember walking her, everythings fine. about an hour later it started. she threw up and lost bowel control, and then stopped being able to walk. her breathing was rough and her eyes were rolling to the back of her head. i took her to the emergency clinic as fast as i could but by the time i got there she was already half dead. they told me they tried to bring her back 4 times but on the 5th she gave in
they said its most likely posioning. what exactly could it have been?... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2034990 Or antifreeze from someone's car leaking. Had to rinse some off the parking lot today, and I know that shit hits pretty fast. It was only a tiny puddle, barely even noticeable, but that's all it takes. Shit is fucking deadly.
It fucking sucks, but it's no more the person fault who has a leaking car and they don't notice, then the person walking there dog that stops to sniff and take a quick lick before the owner even knows what's going on.
So sorry that happened to you OP. In... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Anyone else /vultureculture/? Share your stories Here's one of mine, it happened during my senior year of high school >lived in wooded area before going to college >lots of whitetail deer >walking home >see something red in the woods >it's a dead buck >recently deceased, good condition, some scavengers had already starting picking at its butt but it was otherwise intact Comment too long. >>2034779 I pulled it onto my property so it WOULDN'T disappear. I wanted to bury it or attempt cold water mastication (had a lake and dock) believe me, but even digging a shallow grave for something so big is a lot of work and there was no way to me to easily create a container for it so I could hang it off the dock. Also you need a box to bury corpses in to make sure the bones don't get lost and I didn't have a deer sized box.
Okay, I've had a Newfoundland bitch which is about a year and a half old now. But I've had a recurring problem with trying to feed her in that she doesn't eat at all. The vet said she'll eat when she is hungry just make sure food is available, but she doesn't. When she was younger I would feed her raw beef every second day, but she even turn her nose up at that and leave it to rot so I stopped. I've tried multiple brands of kibble along with wet food and she'll eat it for a few days but then ignore it again. So because she was... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
you need to stop sharing your food with her and only give her whatever dog food you want her to have. don't give in after 2 or 3 days of her not eating and give her table scraps. make her finally give in and eat what you want her to eat.
A professional vet told you what to do, so listen to them. She will not starve herself to death, stop giving in. If you can't take care of this dog properly, then get rid of her.
Try excersising her for more than her usual time so that she has an appetite. Other than that, STOP letting her have other food or table scraps. You could try switching to a new kibble, but don't do anything else. She will it, but unlike us dogs can go a good three or four days without giving in to their stomachs so ignore her.
>>2034703 The problem is, OP, is that she is too smart for her own good. Basically, she's figured out that if she waits long enough then you will give her whatever she wants.
This is the dog equivalent of a human child throwing a temper tantrum until the parents give in and feed the child candy and ice cream instead of vegetables.
Listen to >>2034839>>2034846 and your vet. Go back to feeding her kibble, once she starts eating that again then gradually re-introduce her to raw meat every other day.
Three times a day, put a bowl of kibble down in her designated area, make sure she knows it's there. If she doesn't eat it within 30 minutes, pour it into a tupperware container, close the lid, and put it in your pantry where she can't reach it.
She's smart enough that eventually she will figure out that if she doesn't eat when you say she will, then she won't eat at all.
Also, stop taking her to your dad's. Or at the very least make sure she doesn't get any kind of access to food while at your fathers.
Bobcat hunters are the second most edgiest and stupidest after coyote hunters. Why don't you just hunt domestic house cats, it's about as bad-ass and cool but a million times better for the environment.
Getting a puppy in a week off craigslist. I went over and met the people, the dogs, the puppies, etc. Picked one out and put down $30 for a down payment out of $150 total. Wondering if I should pay cash or check, I feel like a paper trail would be a good move even though everything seems to check out. My brother (manager at a kennel) gave me the go-ahead, and the guy gave me a signed receipt.
I'm looking for a way to provide my cat with some stimulation and excercise.
He's about 7-8 years old, not very old. He's on a good diet. He's neutered.
He's also half-blind. He was that way before I got him.
Every toy I get for him is ignored. All he does is eat, sleep, get pets, use the shitter, and take the occasional dash across my condo.
No way am I letting him outside. If I ever do, he's going to be on his harness and leash and under close supervision. I'm never letting my cats outside again since my childhood... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2034385 >is it true that most of the danger in chocolate >most of the danger >in chocolate worded unfortunately, but if you were trying to make me feel stupid you wren't successful. good to see you're still holding down the autism front on /an/ >>2034386 noted, thanks
Is it normal for a very young male cat (3-4 months) to disappear? My cat has been gone since yesterday and he seems too young and small to just be hanging around. He was friendly and cuddly as fuck so anybody could have just taken him. I don't think he was killed by any of the dogs on the surrounding houses because I did not hear any kind of struggle, he just fucking vanished.
I adore this cat /an/ and perhaps I'm in denial but I still hope he will come back somehow.
>>2034390 > there was no way I could keep him inside. yeah there was, you just failed as a owner and didn't. >The other male I have is way older (he's about a year) and has only wandered once or twice so you didn't learn your lesson the first time.
great, everything that happens now is your fault.
if your cat gets hit by a car and dies now, it's not the fault of the driver, it's you for letting it out.
Yes, that is how cats act. Some are more on the murder all things side than others, but all of them are at list a little bit of an asshole who would eat you should you die. It's kind of their thing. My cats are more on the love and cuddles side, but they still occasionally bite the ever loving shit our of my feet when I move them under the covers in bed.
Unless this is a sudden change in behavior it's really not something to be concerned about. Any sudden dramatic behavior changes are things you should bring up to a vet.
