Hey guys, I was given this bonsai (ficus) for christmas. It's just a store bought one, and it looks like it's two that have grafted to each other. But I got a few questions for you bonsai enthusiasts, should I repot it into a larger pot? The trunk is rather large for the pot imo. Other question is that its obviously had some larger branches that have been sawed off, is there anyway to recover that and make it more natural looking or should I just focus on hiding it with denser foilage?
>>2023685 Unfortunately there is no generic bonsai guideline you can go by since each species of plant has it's own unique needs. I would strongly recommend you google what your specific species needs to be happy.
>>2023685 You must change the soil and trim the roots every X years depending of the tree. You might kill the plant tho' so you should google some more... If the roots start to turn in circle inside the pot it can be a fucking NIGHTMARE.
>clearly the dog was a shit so the previous owner taped its muzzle shut to shut it up >you wouldn't do the same if a drunk homeless guy with his jaw broken walked into your back yard This is why the human race is headed for extinction: we care more about dumb creatures than we do for ourselves.
I have a 10 gallon (cube) and a 15 gallon (long) fish tank that are currently out of commission.
What pets would I be able to keep in there comfortably (either for the duration of their lives or for the first few years of their lives)?
I have seen many different options however I am looking to see whether /an/ has some good advice.
Currently the 15 gallon might become an Axolotl home while the 10 gallon would be for a Pac Man Frog (i think it would be comfortable). Please any guidance on alternative would be awesome. Preferably not creepy crawlies and not fish unless they are single unique awesome cool fish like the Axolotl (inb4 not a fish).
I ordered a pack of Echinacea Purpurea seeds off Heirloomseeds, and I'm on my fourth attempt to try and get them sprouting. I can't figure out the right technique... I tried planting them outright on the surface where they will receive full sunlight, I also tried stratifying them in the refrigerator in moist sawdust/ziplock for two attempts of 13 days and 30 days. I'm used to planting seeds to proper depth giving them a little love + water and watching them grow. This is not the case, and my green thumb is being questioned (by myself.) Though I'm also questioning... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I was gifted a Venus Flytrap for Christmas, completely out of the blue, being the only indicator that I "wanted" one being "everytime I go past the exotic plants store I imagine how it'd be like to have a flytrap". I have no idea how to take care of it. I've been reading and reading stuff today, but information from some places contradicts that of others, and makes everything get mixed up. How do I take care of this new plant friend?
When I was 7 I was obsessed with Scorpions, and desperately wanted one as a "pet". Hell, I even bought several books on how to keep Scorpions as pets, and did a lot of research (for a 7 y/o). Was it good that my parents never bought me one? Also, should I consider buying one now? I have the money, and will do some research, but I've never had a pet.
>>2023437 Sure, it's not like they're hard to keep. As long as you're aware that they're not actually "pets" you can take out and play with (or even see regularly), go for it. Go for an easy to keep beginner species first, get some experience and then, if you still like them, start collecting more species or breeding them.
