What's a good reptile that doesn't need live food and isn't a turtle or tortoise? I'm considering snakes, but want to know if there are any lizards who fit this quota other than Iguanas, which wont do because FUCK HUGE
Hey dudes, im planning to move to florida and live there and shit. Anyways, i found a website called Louisiana Herps and it shows to range of the specific species. Now i want something similar to florida, so i can know what species lives where and stuff.
Shit man, I dunno. I'm not a frogologist. They seem happy enough there. I don't know if I get them maybe a toad house or something to put on the ground if they would live in it, they seem to like being up high
I have had this month old chihuahua poodle mix for a week now. I have trying to potty train him any way I can and have had no hope at all. My boy friend is losing patience with him and slowly so am I. It has gotten to the point where I have to lock him in his kennel with his doggy pad and he refuses to be outside with out crying at the top of his lungs. Even sometimes I will let him out of the kennel and the first thing he does is go and look for a place to pee. is there anything else I can do to train him?
Any snake owners out there, if I were to clean this tank out and fit it up properly, would it be a good enclosure for my 4 foot almost adult male ball python? He already has a 40 gallon long tank, but it's really hard to maintain a good humidity for him so I thought about moving him around. Soda can for scale, I think the tank is 35 gallons.
I only have a corn snake so I don't have much knowledge but from a general pet owner of many lizards and trantulas , I would just give it a try and see how it goes, are you willing to spend any money ?
I vaccinated my cat for rabies yesterday. today he bit me. Should I get a rabies shot myself?
He didn't have rabies, but my vet told me that the rabies vaccine makes the animal rabid until he develops immunity to it. I think she's full of shit as I haven't found anything of the sort on the internet.
So I'm here now. should I get a rabies shot because my recently vaccinated cat bit me?
What are some Youtubers you follow thaf post animal related content? And I don't count "Cute animal videos".
I don't know how accurate they are but I enjoy TREY The Explainer and ThePrehistoricMaster. Matthew The Dinosaur King also has some interesting videos if you're into dinosaur collectables and toys. Rattielover713 and RatGirl44 are my main sources for educational rat videos.
I v>>2197697 Kikopup for dog training. I often refer people to her videos if they are having trouble training. Sometimes it's nice to have a visual of what you're supposed to do.
I was thinking of making YouTube videos of breeds of animals, probably starting with dogs. I was looking into breed info on YouTube and they were either nonexistent, had Microsoft Sam talking, or they really skimmed a lot of information. So I thought I could do that shit myself. However I'm not sure if my voice would be any better... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I have a dog and a cat, both indoor pets. My dog caught fleas and the cat has them now too. My dog takes sentinel every month which is a flea and tick preventative. He's had a couple flea baths and is wearing a flea collar. I caught one flea on him since taking him to the vet a couple days ago.
I keep pulling a handful of fleas off of my cat when I run a comb through him. I put harts ultra guard on his neck. Seems like that was a waste of money. I gave the cat a flea bath too. He still had fleas the next morning. I've washed all... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
How do people typically handle the situation of leaving behind your family dogs when you leave home? I'm in college now and while I still see them whenever I go home, I don't feel ready to set off on my own life let alone seperate from my best buddies. What about when they grow old and you're not sure when their time is coming?
>>2197298 A lot of college students are living in dorms or apartments that don't allow pets. Even if they did, they don't have adequate room for them. Also many freshmen (and up) have busy or unpredictable schedules due to school which of course do not mesh well with a dog's constant and unrelenting need to eat and go outside.
I don't know. I'm nearly 19 and just staying home until my two pets croak. I have a 16 year old cat, and a 10 year old dog who had lymphoma and it's only a matter of time before it's back, while saving money to leave. How old are your pets? Do you need to get out of your house right away?
Ok I hate to be that guy that posts the shittiest picture to be used as identification but I lost sight of this guy. I've never seen a spider like this in my home, mostly common house spiders. He had a dark head and butt and long "feelers" but much lighter legs. Could it be a running spider? Southern ontario.
I pocket anything that could be magic. I'm very jelly of your tooth stone. Maybe it activates some door in a mountain, or brings a statue to life. Maybe it can lead you to treasure, ward off goblins or holds the spirit of an ancient chieftain.
I have a lot of magic stones, and dote on my treasures often. My friends tease me and call me names, but they dont know how much fun someone can have with a bag of stones. All you need is hope and imagination, which is the only way I get anything anyways. That's the magic.
A reminder to look after Goldfish well, and why fish bowls are F.O.E.S:
F- Filtration. In a bowl there is no room for filtration, and goldfish are big waste producers that require powerful filtration.
O-oxygen. The round shape of bowls means that they have very little surface area compared to their volume. This causes a lack of oxygen, and goldfish require a lot of oxygen in the water.
E- Ethics. Would you keep a dog in a room the size of a small bathroom its entire life? No? Then why keep a goldfish in a tiny bowl where it is unable to do any of its natural... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
By the way, this is unrelated and I don't mean to hijack your thread, but your use of "F.O.E.S." reminded me of this great video game series called Etrian Odyssey. The mini-bosses in that games are called FOEs, but I forgot what that stands for in the game.
Anyway, yeah. I love goldfish and I wish people understood that they cannot live well in bowls.
>>2196844 I already added a part about Bettas/Goldfish or fish in general in bowls to the /aq/ faq. I don't really get why it's still advertised. Goldfish are cheap, yeah, but so are hamsters, but people don't keep hamsters in such horrid conditions or at least not on that scale.
I'm not even a PETA-fag, but I don't see why advertising bowls for anything but inverts shouldn't be banned or regulated in some way. But its not a one sided problem. Pet-Keepers, Pet-Stores, Pet-Product Manufacturers... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2196992 I worked in the pet department of a garden centre for a while. I didnt deal with fish, but I frequently found myself telling people how much SPACE a singular goldfish needed.... and they all promptly ignored me. such is the way
I like them. I also met someone who REALLY likes them.
>work for a company that rents cabins and rooms >boring day so i'm just helping out where i can and go to deliver some things to one of the renters in a cabin >asking how their stay is going >"everythings great! but we did find an ant in here! there he is" >points to an ant on the floor and two of her friends that she brought with her just laying... >>2196828 Since I live in a flat, they don't bother me at all. They're nice to stop and look at when taking a walk. It's especially fun when you spot a group tending to aphids.
Nuptial flight season is pretty annoying, since it's pretty hard not to step on the queens by mistake when they land everywhere, but it's still pretty nice to witness, especially when it's carpenter ant queens.
So I have a pretty major ant problem. My landlord doesn't seem to care, so I'm taking it into my own hands.
My apartment has a large wooden deck, which is essentially crawling with ants. I can't find a single bed, so I don't know where the source is. I was pretty much ignoring them until they actually started popping up in my bathroom, so I need them out.
Any suggestions? Like I said, I can't find a source, or even just a regular route they use...they're just all over the place.
>>2196687 home depot sells a poison-gel that theyre attracted to. They will pick it up and take it to their nest. Some that even ate it end up dying on the way to the source. We have not had a sight of a single ant in YEARS
Let's take a break from outside and feral cat debating and talk about feral dogs. Most anons probably don't live in areas where they are common sight (neither do I) but I find them fascinating and sad at the same time.
I was out on a walk the other day (currently nodoggo) and saw what looked like a young lab mix out on the sidewalk, wearing a collar. Looked pretty agitated, kept walking back and forth across the street (thanfully carless sidestreet). I whistled and clucked a few times and she took a few steps over, then went back to pacing. Managed to get close without spooking her, checked the collar. Turned out the address was she was pacing in front of. Knocked on the door to let an old, but surprisingly spry, old lady know that her dog had gotten out. She thanked me and complained... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
