My situation: >leaves Greece for a 2 week trip to sis on UK >has a cat >lives with parent >parents go to Albania for trip >take cat with them >freaks out because mom doesn't call exactly when asked to >overreacting while acknowledging overreaction >looking at cat pics and crying I have thought of every horrible... I'm not sure if this is an appropriate thread for this board, but can anybody tell me a bit about flies and spiders? >Big fly gets into house >Annoying piece of shit flies around and I just decide fuck it and take my nap >Wake up an hour later and notice something on desk >It's the fly, except it looks "crushed"; completely deflated but it isn't leaking its insect organs and shit or is staining the desk, just dead like somebody... Different spiders have different types of venom, for example with the ones you listed black widows (and all widows, all Theridiids for that matter as far as I know) produce a type of neurotoxin while brown recluses (which aren't native to California, pick up a fucking map) have necrotic venom.
It also affects different people differently even without taking allergies into account and the spider can inject different... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2189821 Yeah, you're right. I was just thinking the brown recluse would be an exotic pest because a lot of people keep talking about them, but a quick google search says that there are absolutely no brown recluses in California.
Rather than asking about the venom, I was thinkin' about why she got such a terrible reaction from a practical non-bite. The spider looked nothing like a black widow, so maybe it was some other poisonous spider and its venom just had a bad effect on her? Like you said, different types... Comment too long. What kind of dog do I have? He just showed up one day in front of my house last year and never left. I've had other dogs before but not this small, and he's the smartest dog I've ever had too. He knows how to follow orders, I can let him outside the house and he'll always come back home and I don't even need to leash him when taking him for a walk.
Scientists have identified the Greenland shark as the world's longest-living vertebrate.
Greenland sharks have been found as old as 512 years, with an average lifespan of 392 ± 120 years.
The species reaches sexual maturity at about 150 years of age.
>some Greenland sharks alive today were alive as early as 1504. >there are currently sharks that were alive in the times of Christopher Columbus, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Shakespeare, Henry VIII, and Nostradamus.
What kind of hawk is this? It was much smaller than a red tail hawk, about the size of a crow. We got too close to it and it screamed at us. It was pretty high pitched but not exactly that hawk call you hear in movies. I thought maybe copper's hawk but I haven't found a sound clip similar. I'm in Maine.
I live in the country and have terrible problem with mice and rats. I have had two generations of cats that were really professional predators, and had them bring a young pheasant one day. Now, this third generation of cats doesnt give a fuck about fuck and just shit in flowerpots and sleep all day and then jump all over our roof. They even shit on the roof, I'm not even kidding. They have caught exactly ZERO mice. So I have decided to stop feeding them for a day or two just to see if they'll start hunting, maybe hunger actually perks them up. What do you think? Gonna... Agreed, you will probably get shit for it on this board but it's worth giving it a shot. If they do catch something make sure to reward them with treats, maybe that way they will start hunting more often.
This little guy hangs out in our bathroom. Is it dangerous? He just minds his own business and sometimes scares the shit out of people on the toilet but everyones too afraid to squish it and I like him
It looks like a cellar spider (daddy-long-leg). Common in the US and most other places, completely non-poisonous to people and most animals. They form irregular webs in various sizes. I get them on occasion too. I personally like waiting until they make their webs to blow/poke them and watch them flip out in a shaking frenzy.
I stumbled across a video on Youtube featuring poachers hunting and clipping the teeth of wild monkeys. While this wasn't incredibly shocking, there were a huge amount of comments from different people praising the hunters and wishing they would do even more horrible things to the monkeys. I looked at some of the related videos and the comments were generally similar. There's even a whole playlist full of videos about people torturing, harassing or abusing monkeys.

They are a horrible combination of violent and clever. You remember the baboon-eats-antelope-baby-alive.webm? Imagine a gang of slight smaller ones that fling feces, shriek while running back and forth on your roof all night, rapes your pet dog then eats it, and is smart enough to open/break open doors, windows, and gates. And to think people complain about outdoor cats.
So my brother has two Russian tortoises that he doesn't care for at all (so I end up feeding them), and in the past few months they've been really sluggish and don't move off their heat rock, and I haven't seen them eat in a while.
It's just me, or people always seem to get owls wrong? Be it in cartoons, games, whatever. They always seem to draw owls with a flat face and a tiny beak, when in reality owls actually have normal-sized beaks covered with feathers. Also people always seem to forget that owls are birds of prey like eagles and falcons and make owl characters or drawing either as a cute teddy bear or as a sage/bookworm/teacher/nerd. It's just weird.
Owl skulls are shaped like most bird skulls but the feathers around the edge of an owl’s heart shaped face create a disc which works to trap and focus sound, rather like our outer ears. That's why they have excellent hearing.
Owls being portrayed as wise originates from ancient Greek mythology. Athena's symbol was an owl and she was the goddess of wisdom, among other things. Realistically though, owls aren't known for demonstrating noteworthy intelligence.
>draw >draw They have the means to do visual metaphors and visual hyperbole and you can't stop them. Is tiny hands cute on female? let's do it. Are child-like tiny features cute on an animal? Why not. Less hassle to shade as well. Or, you could just filter the photo, or do some computer modeling, but those are another genres of visual entertainment. You sound like those guys with "vegan" cats.
How can I get a puppy of a few months to let me pet him? My grandma has a puppy, and she's been mistreating it horribly. She doesn't even really feed him, keep him tied in the sun all day and on top of that she often hits her. I've untied and fed her, but she's completely horrified of any physical contact. She follows me around, but if I try to touch her she backs off, and if I do touch her in the slightest she squeals horribly and runs away. How can I get her to not be so scared? Pic unrelated
>>2188611 I can't really get the pupper to socialize with other puppers unless I get it to a shelter or something, and god knows what the workers there will do to her when she refuses to let them touch her.
I'm not going to get a dog unless I can handle its exercise requirements, it is just a shame that if you can't dedicate lots of time your options are a faggot mini dog or a dog like a great dane which will die very early.
Does /an/ believe in reincarnation? What animal would you like to be in your next life? I would like to be a bear so I can eat a lot, sleep for a long time and be left completely alone away from everyone else
