like anyone in the history of anything has ever been bothered by something not being "real"
Besides, you take a ball, two groups of people, two metal frames with net around them, and have the groups kick the ball and try to get it to go in through one of the metal frames... where's the "reality" in that?
I've been thinking about getting into air soft. What's everyone's opinion on it? I'm pretty fit as I already go to the gym but I imagine it's still a pain running around and keeping your eyes peeled but it's hell of a fun sport to play I heard.
The activity is kinda fun, but can be boring sometimes. The people are...interesting. About 30% obese white dudes with neckbeards, 30% older vets trying to relive their glory days, 30% normal folks between the ranks of "in shape" and "DYEL twig," and 10% is pre-teens in their dad's motorbike helmet and ski goggles talking about how it's just like CoD.
Much like any other alternative activity, if you can get over how ridiculous it is you can have fun.
Could a good Judoka feasibly register in a local greco-roman wrestling tournament and do well? Is there a lot of overlap in the training and skills of the two styles (we often hear that Judo is greco-roman with a gi, but how true is that?) pic related
>>868193 Worth a shot, just for the experience alone, but don't expect to get very far unless you've got previous wrestling experience. The absence of a gi significantly alters grip fighting, set-ups and throw selection. Scoring and groundwork's different too.
What the fuck is up with you guys? How do you religiously tune in to watch a 3 hour show twice a week with 2 and a half hours of man-drama and commercials to see thirty minutes of greasy sluts and fake fighting, if that? Not to mention shelling out like 80 bucks for a PPV event with an outcome you deep down have already anticipated weeks beforehand. It's really predictable, the most popular rassler always wins the championship. Like do you just delude yourself until there's some feeling of suspense?
I'm really trying to wrap my head around this. I mean I understand that you need willing suspension of disbelief to enjoy all tv shows but come on, you KNOW it's not real and yet you'll pay to go watch it and make signs and scream your asses off as if it affects the outcome of the "match".
I can't even look at pro rasslers without being grossed out, like do they just lay down a tarp and roll in baby oil and crisco to get that look? And the so-called divas... Like just watch porn if you want to see a skanky chick doing nasty shit, they'll be hotter and fully naked. Not to mention how totally gay it is to watch dudes in colorful speedos grabbing each other and whining about how they got fucked over by whatever funny looking guy in a suit is pissing them off that week.
It's muscle ballet mixed with a bad soap opera, you're no better than an aging Mexican housewife with her telenovelas. You just shit up what could be a great board with dumb threads about your favorite tv shows. The acting is terrible and the plots are always bad. Mexican and Japanese wrestling at least has cool personalities and they actually do stuff. Go take a martial arts class and learn actual fighting, you'll realize what a sham your life was before. Be your own hero and stop worshiping these hillbillies.
I've been thinking about starting iaido along with kendo lately. Does anyone else do both, and have you noticed elements from one seeping into the other? Also, I recently moved to Boston, so if anyone knows any good dojo around there, that'd be cool.
Used to do kendo. Took a break for personal reasons, and didn't return because the culture around it was very "if you don't make kendo your number one priority then we can't respect you." Maybe it was just the dojos in my area though, or maybe I'm just a pansy.
>>868383 Totally worth it despite that though. Maybe it'll be your thing, if you try it, and if it is you'll have lifelong friends around a hobby that makes you mentally and physically fitter. Look/Ask around and see if they... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>868383 I'm not sure if I really can, it's just extremely fun to me. When I started out, I actually didn't have a lot of interest in it, but I stuck with it for a while and now it's one of my main hobbies. Probably doesn't help that my main board is /a/ and I have a fetish for nippon swordsmanship. I'd suggest what the other anon said and see if you can try a beginner course.
