Whats some good anime? Recently started to watch it, so far iv watched fullmetal alchemist and attack on titans.
Both surprised me that anime could be so enjoyable, previously thinking its just a weird Japanese cartoon for outcasts.
Is this a continuation of fullmetal alchemist?>>555732749
That was the very first anime i watched, so it was special for me to enjoy it lol, ill definitely sus out Kill la Kill
I'd suggest Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex then afterwards Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig. Also this is one of the few times the English dub is a lot better than the original.
There are two Full Metal Alchemists.
The first is just titled Full Metal Alchemist, they started making it before the manga finished and went in a very different direction making it up as they went along.
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the version that follows the manga, and it's much better.
GANTZ <hands down the barbed hook that will have you stuck on anime forever, follow that with Berzerk, ghost in the shell-s.a.c , claymore, future diary and you will be understanding why anime appeals to so many
For quality anime I've seen.
AKIRA, this is a must see.
Samurai Champloo, full series but it's a good one.
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
You should watch either Touhou or Watamote. They're really great animes.
Anime has genres, so whatever you want in other mediums, you can get in anime. If you want more of the kind of stuff you've been watching, which is called shonen, everything that >>555732993 said is great. If you want to get into other genres, there's a shit ton of mindfuck psychological stuff (Satoshi Kon's movies, the original Evangelion, Paranoia Agent, Higurashi no naku koro ni), a few good romances that aren't onii-chan uguu~~~ shit (Clannad, Golden Time) and some heartwarming happy stories (most Ghibli films).
This. You need to see this. Now. As in, this very second. Hey, bitch, do you hear me? Watch the fucking anime, you /b/tarded piece of shit. Do it. Move your mouse to the URL and type in Mirai Nikki now. Don't make me come over there, you double nigger.
KILL LA KILL IS overhyped as fuck
do not watch
seriously everyone is gonna tell you to watch it
but then it turns out its shit
dont watch it
Also watch Hellsling Ultimate it was some of the best animation for an anime.
you can never go wrong with sword art online and they just started the second season
This is the anime that ruined all other anime for me. And they will never give it a second season. Aku no Hana.
>implying I ever said Cowboy Bebop was good for anything but Japanese jazz
Darker than Black is another very good anime. The first season is great. The second not so much.
Kill la Kill is ok. Overhyped yes, but fun.
Forgot to mention Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero; those are some of the best animes around as well.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is also good as that anime follows the manga story; the FMA anime that came before it didn't.
Others I have watched recently and are good are Danganronpa, Akuma no Riddle (those two are one of those "whole lot of people who die as episodes go by" animes). If you do watch Toaru Majutsu no Index and happen to like it then you should watch Strike the Blood; it has a feel close to Index. Blood Lad is also good but feels like KLK.
I started watching Akame ga Kill! from Horriblesubs and seems good so far.
If you want to see blood and get the feels then watch Elfen Lied. Old but good.
There is no "s" in "Attack on Titan", faggot
@Topic- Hataraku Maou-Sama
Also, mah nigga. You caught up or getting there?
One Piece is a good manga. Besides the voice acting, it's a shit anime.
It's released too quickly, with no off season, and with inadequate budget. The result is the series is fucked up the ass by poor pacing.
Why can't it have a second season yet? Why?
Fairy Tail, even though it's one of those "let's run this forever" type shows
FMA Brotherhood, assuming that's not the one you watched. It's better in every conceivable way.
I kinda want to watch Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood now. Should i watch the English dub or no? And is it better than the original anime? Some of you seem to think so so that's what I'm going with
The difference between One Piece/Naruto/Bleach
is that Naruto and Bleach started good, and gradually turned to huge shits.
One Piece started okay, but gradually became better and better instead of going the shit path.
This is a pretty good chinese cartoon
Let me translate that for everyone.
It means that Naruto and One Piece actually had a plot in the beginning, and de-railed itself with more plot twists and side notes than Xenogears. One Piece's plot was, "Find the treasure," which meant there was an infinite number of turns it could take, which means the entire fucking series is filler.
It's good in the sense of the intellectual game of cat and mouse between Kira and L. There's nothing edgy about it except maybe Mello, and he's easily the worst fucking character in the entire show, and that even includes Near.
The thing is, the longer one piece goes on (and it does.... on and on and on etc.) it's gradually getting better and better. i'm not sure if it's because you become more and more attached as time goes on, or if everything just gets more exciting. I like to think a little of both.
People enjoying it make it good.
More people watch this and it is popular for a reason, it's not shitty like most anime that is loved by hardcore fans.
You probably loved yu yu hakusho or whatever that rash was called.
AOT is an anime that is enjoyed as simple entertainment. If people enjoy it why does it bother you?
The only person who would be bothered is someone who takes anime way to seriously.Someone like you apparently.
Like I said; "Adventure, motherfucker." It's great if you're just enjoy being along for the ride, but if you want a swift and decisive conclusion, well.... we're still waiting.
Animation is irrelevant in most cases. Panty and Stocking was insanely popular, and it didn't follow "animation laws".
Attack on Titan contributes nothing to the Kaiju genre, because the MC is basically piloting a giant mecha made of flesh. It's robots in the 1800s.
Gory AND mainstream? So every other popular anime that was gory and mainstream is irrelevant now? Better stop listening to the OSTs for Ghost in the Shell, then!
So I bought the One Piece collection's, I just bought the 3rd one and I think I'm only on season 2 or 3, I like it but it seems to be the same sorta thing over and over. Even so, it does get better?
I also personally enjoy dubs. With English being my native language, I can pay more attention to what's going on verses having to constantly read what's going on.
Basically you can look at it like this: Do you want to watch an anime or an animated manga?
Why don't you just do yourself a favour and watch JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
My problem isn't that people enjoy it, it's that people thing it's good. It shows a drop in people's tastes, and that truly upsets me, because stories that have really great plots are ignored and thrown away. It's why I say, "Hey, Deadman Wonderland started off good, but then it catered to every trope in the known genre and became total shit." It's why I say, "Man, I wish they had funded The Last Love Song on This Little Planet more, that was a great story with great character development."
I'm watching a show for a story. If I wanted action, I'd play a video game.
>Panty and Stocking was insanely popular
One Piece is insanely popular (in Japan).
PSG isn't even one of Gainax's better selling properties. The only notable thing about its popularity is it has a significant female fanbase. Otherwise, the Japs don't give a shit about it.
Holy fuck is WRY something to do with JoJo's Bizarre adventure? I've had someone added in my friends list named "Wryyyy" and I never understood what the fuck that meant. They are Japanese so I thought it was something: popular over there
THIS THREAD NEEDS MECHA:
<Mobile Suit Gundam 0079
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
Mobile Suit ZZ Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam Char's Counterattack
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket
Mobile Suit Gundam F91
Mobile Suit Victory Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam: 08th MS Team
Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn>
Watch those Gundam series in that order, they are for a more mature audience and depict war in a futuristic way (ZZ is less serious but still good) These Gundam series all fall under the category of Universal Century (UC)
After that watch:
Neon Genesis Evangelion
End of Evangelion
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (takes place in a timeline from UC)
Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan
CODE MOTHER FUCKING GEASS- seriously watch Code Geass
Super Dimension Fortress Macross
You're welcome OP
The best piece of advice I can give you is to just enjoy the ride. Have fun with the adventure. Sure it's mostly just beating the shit out of the bad guys, but the emotional shit that happens in between is one of the things that kept me going. And for gods sake stop buying them, just watch 'em online. Only pay for shit you enjoy and support. What happens if you end up disliking it more and more?
Whoa, slow the FUCK down. I say I don't think it's good... Which means I don't like it... And I'm wrong for that opinion? How am I the one who's wrong in this argument, if you can't even go from Logic A to Logic B?
Catering to casual fans causes a drop in quality. From music to television to books, you can see that, and if that doesn't upset you, then I don't know what else to say.
I'm comparing animation qualities with what makes AoT good, not arguing about One Piece with it. Don't cross arguments.
I like some english dubs. Others just annoy me, I feel it looks weird without the characters original voice, even if it is another language. I don't mind reading, I can read and pay attention at the same time. For example: I fucking love School Rumble, I hated the Japanese version but loved the English dub, idk why.
It's worth sticking with, the good arcs are REALLY good, and the fillers are enjoyable, some even better than the important arcs.
It does take a bit for it to get really good, the "Water 7" arc is about where it started to really shine for me, and it kept going up from there.
Some people suggest starting the series there i've heard, but it's worth watching from the beginning.
Hey, Big Zam!
Never thought of it that way, thanks for opening my eyes a little anon!
Also, I'm not paying for the collections, parents send it to me yearly because I told them I loved the series as a kid and wouldn't mind watching it again. So I'm not washing my moolah down the drain.
Wasn't crossing arguments. Just saying that One Piece is literally the only series you could call "insanely popular". The numbers in Japan are completely ridiculous, dwarfing everything else.
It went to shit after, like, two episodes. You're better off watching Bleach filler.
I'm not caught up with the anime actually, i like to wait until the whole arc is out, i'm caught up on the manga though.
I'm a sucker for the dragonball style tournaments, they're always fun.
Also OP watch AW Gundam X it's a nice revamp of Gundam 0079, it was sadly cancelled before the end of it's original run though.
WHY THE FUCK HAS NO ONE RECOMMENDED ELFEN LIED IN THIS THREAD!
It's not a matter of taste. You're free to like it, but if he's calling it "good" then you're simply wrong. It gets marginally better in the manga past the point where the anime ends, but it's still not enough to elevate the series as a whole above average.
And it certainly isn't enough to forgive it for the bullshit bait and switch.
Do it, I liked it better than the original by far, might actually re-watch it.
My Sherlock sense is telling me that you were that kid with no friends in high school that convinced himself that popularity and normality are inherently bad things...
Lucky duck, ya got that at least. When I started watching it I just figured that since most anime is basically the same (not all, and some with better quality than others), why not just watch something that I'll enjoy more and more as I become familiar with it. The characters are pretty much solidified in my heart at this point.
I get ya. I was thinking about hopping into the manga once I caught up with the anime, but I get more excited watching anime than reading manga. It feels like I read too fast some times and get the pacing wrong.
Shit, sorry. Sage'd another thread and forgot to fix my shit. Apologies for any confusion.
It's not popular among people over people under 18, so you're not going to find too many fans talking about it on /b/. It's mostly popular among oldfags who last watched it 10 years ago when they were considerably easier to impress than they are now.
Ya you fucked that one up royally.
Next time champ.
>people still think they can tell other people what to do on /b/
non-shit player required:
Ghost in the Shell: Nothing can be said about it that wasn't said before.
Sword Art Online: A bunch of people get trapped inside a game, to escape they have to beat it, problem is: if you die in the game, you die in real life.
Steins Gate: A mad scientist creates a time-machine using a microwave, uses it to alter the past, shit starts going, horribly, wrong.
Trigun: An outlaw travels a desert planet in a post-apocalyptic setting. Saying more would spoil it.
Vampire Hunter D + Bloodlust: A vampire hunter for hire travels in a post-apocalyptic world filled with monsters, magic, and crazy technology.
Black Lagoon: Series about a company of pirates for hire in the modern world.
can vouch for space dandy, very bored one night and watched it on Adult Swim, fucking hilarious and awesome. kind of like Regular Show and South Park in the sense that almost every episode starts out semi-normal and usually ends with something completely stupid and awesome. also, the voices are cool and the narration is reminiscent of Arrested Development, and their intro/theme song is cash.
sorry about the rant, but i only recently discovered this show
>Sword Art Online
This show has writing on the level of a teenager's fan fiction. I'm currently watching it because I find its terrible writing absolutely fascinating.
Gregory Horror Show
First-Person perspective, CGI, mix of horror-comedy, all on Youtube. It will only take you about 35 minutes to get through a season, too.
Sword Art Online, so much wasted fucking potential, and the second arc is just fucking shit. And now they have SAO II which I'm cautious about watching seeing how much of a train wreck the first season was
>this guy, right here... he get's it
I was thinking about checking out Space Dandy, but I'm already in the process of watching a bunch of different shows. And no, I don't know what's wrong with me. For the life of me I can't watch a single anime at a time.
Ok i've skimmed the thread and i can't believe ninja scroll or akira haven't been mentioned yet.
Space cobra is good for a laugh and LEGEND OF GALACTIC HEROES is the best anime of all time.
I've complained about a lot of shit ITT, but Attack on Titan really isn't that bad. Yet. I expect it to implode under its own weight soon, Lost-style.
Admittedly, I haven't watched the second half of the anime and I hear there are adaption issues. I'm speaking with regards to the manga.
Yeah, I wish it was better. The first couple episodes showed promise, but then it did a bait and switch and replaced everything that was good about it with generic wishfulfilment Gary Stu shit. I hear much of its problems came from odd Light Novel Issues (the story had to be wrapped up quickly, for the first book, and later books were written to retroactively inject scenes), plus the adaptation left a bunch of shit out (lots of exposition) which made its impenetrable retardation even worse.
Start of SAO
>Hi, I'm Asuna a badass fucking girl gamer, i kick ass
End of SAO
>KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO KIRITO
Start of SAO
>solo player, refuses to to party up because of tortured past
>oh, right, that happens after he became a solo player
>gets a traumatized past due to partying up but not really
Three Episodes Into SAO
>solo player, refuses to to party up because of tortured past
>parties up every fucking episode
>joins a guild
>fights raid bosses solo
