A future like in Dredd(not Judge Dredd) or Looper(minus time travel and telekinesis) where it isn't much different than today's world, some advances in technology but the economy has gone to shit so the country's infrastructure is non existent.
A future like in Minority Report, without the pre-cogs, where technology and society is slightly more advanced than today's but for the most part things aren't that different.
Less people due to some weird event or events maybe disease. less inhabited cities, plants take over pretty quick.. weeds, moss etc Some cities look like a total mess while a few cities have all the luxuries mankind could dream up with advances in science/technology. Not a collapse and back to square one situation just a change in the dynamic of how we live, not entirely focused on consuming everything for the sake of it and being mugs to advertisements. Just buying quality items what we'll need in the modern era we move onto/
>>556753535 The Salton sea is small preview of what the future holds for us. It is a lake in CA, created when a flood breached a dike on the colorado river and diverted the entire water supply into the basin over two years.
It went through a period of boom, when investors and vacationers flocked to the oasis like lake. However, severe tropical storms severely damaged the newly established realestate market and the community collapsed.
Over time the lake became more salty than the pacific ocean, and the fish population experienced massive die offs. Now it is a dystopian ghost town.
I imagine the rest of the world on the same schedule, but over a much larger period of time. We are polluting everything we touch, and poisoning our population with medicine. 1/4 of our population is mentally ill according to the NIMH. It's just a matter of time before it all comes down around us.
Head to the hills folks. Learn to provide for yourself and defend what you have.
The matrix might become real not forced but willingly as a fake better world
occulus &co are the first stepping stones while research on brain reading/writing is massively funded
soon you will be able to hook into a better virtual world to forget this one entirely -how many do you think will go? Already mmorpgs draw in a massive ammount of people spending humongous ammounts in those virtual worlds.
It will be exactly the same except more run down, because in spite of the apocalyptic predictions both political parties throw around, no one gets any fucking shit done because if you do something all the morons in the USA (and that is a lot!) get all butthurt about how it is Socialism/Communism/Anti-Christian/Pro-immigrant and we just end up sitting around with our thumbs up our asses while the entire country crumbles from neglect.
Hopefully we can get our shit together and unify the world, which would include: economy, laws, currency, education and politics. With this we could maybe just maybe discover FTL travel and finally invent shit like this. I think I'll just post future like pics to jump start the old idea box.
>>556756074 Fun fact; did you know as early as the Roman Republic people were predicting we'd exhaust the world's resources?
When I took a Latin course we translated shit about how "Everyone's getting apathetic! The animals are all dying! We're running out of metal!"
Personally I think the future will look much more advanced than it does today--in certain places. Other places will be just as shitty as the shittiest African shitholes.
The scientific community is booming worldwide. Technological innovation is not slowing down, nor will it, until there's nothing left to discover. As long as there's a global problem, there will be intelligent people devising a global solution.
Our technology is so advanced that I believe humans will live on, in some form, for eons. I can't honestly imagine anything that could wipe us out. We know of too many ways to scrape shelter and energy. Any global catastrophe won't affect everyone. Maybe *almost* everyone, but not everyone.
>>556753535 I think we're in for some dramatic changes.
People's dependence on mobile phones and internet has already noticeably weakened their memory and cognitive abilities. Why bother remembering anything when you can just google it?
Most people in the future will be literally mindless drones incapable of thinking or remembering anything other than how to get information from the internet. Disconnect them from it, and they will be incapable of independent thought or function.
As a result, the future will resemble Huxley's Brave New World more than any other work of fiction I've read. We're more than halfway there already.
Soldiers are going to realize that PMCs pay five times as much as the army and every north american soldier is going to be a Academi employee, the americas will become a superpower equal or exceeding china in quality of soldiers of their quantity. Russia will have put ukraines nazis in shame and ukraine will once again be russia. The albanians will be driven out of kosovo when yugoslavia joins the Euroasian Treaties, a UN type deal between Russia, China, and Yugoslavia, any former yugoslavian counties that retaliate to the treaty will be left for the poor.
Going back to NA, Canada will have the highest GPD per capita thx to the keystone and the shit tons of oil they will have sold to america.
Technology will have evolved into its tertiary level, we are now at the modern day secondary.
Crushed bezel displays will be the successor in our current liquid/lcd displays.
Crushed bezel has a pixel density of 446 ppi making it so far the highest ppi known to man, it is what the 5S uses on its sensor amd its what the whole screen of the iPhone 6 will be. Google and Apple will lead everything technology related besides video games which Microsoft and Nintendo will lead after Sony goes bankrupt after they dont get licensing for the GGGQEP hard drives that MS funds the research for after buying out Valve.
>>556758707 >the cold Everyone from Yellowknife to Texas would be dead in three days, then when the ash settles in the atmosphere we worry about cold, which is a very big problem taking consideration that there is not enough already prepackaged food to last ~4 billion people forever, growing crops would become impossible. In 30 years there will be -1b people alive.
>>556760059 At the same time not everyone is not prepared for a police state killing people
First off you have to realize the people who are police officers and work in the military are people too. I know my brother who is a cop would never shoot innocent civilians.
And for the smart American gun owners you have to realize that most areas would be just fine.
I have an AR15 for each member of my household and enough property to live off the land. I also have a few underground wine storage facilities hidden across my property that work as perfect bunkers and I'll be good on alcohol for at least 8 years.
>be me, 2069 >out for a jog in the local park >I'm careful to avert my eyes from the playground at all times >if one of the cameras mounted on the lampposts sees me I could be charged for preying on children >I pass a trigender non-binary landwhale sitting on a bench stuffing her face with a burger >she sees me, and cries "Muh triggers!" "Muh triggers!" >immediately sirens start going off everywhere >imfucked.jpg >I try to sprint off into the trees, but trap doors opened everywhere around the walking path >robotic cops in wheelchairs (Even though they were robots, they wanted them to include disabilities so they wouldn't feel left out) poured out, >they fire estrogen flash-bang grenades at me until I'm barely conscious on the ground, then tie me up >Finally organic cops arrive >they ask the landwhale what happened >She mumbled "Muh triggers" >the cops took this as enough evidence to arrest me for not properly checking my able-bodied privilege >they throw me into the cop van >the last thing I see before they close the door is the robot cops wanting the organic cops to check their organic privilege for breathing to noticeably around them >mfw
