Actual good EDM music? Been trying to broaden my horizons by listening to multiples genres instead of just metal.
Yeah I've listened to a bit of it before. I can't even remember the artists but it was fucking cool.
None. I came to /b/ because /mu/ are cunts.
Cheers. I was kind of looking for stuff that I can get discographies of though.
So you want some people who have a good few albums out there? I might be able to help.
Trying to find more like that though. Moombah is dying.. Oh yes! There's a Moombahton Is Dead EP that I recommend for OP if he likes the sound.
I'm thinking this is around Deep House
Found this guy from a Deep House channel but it's somewhere around Hip Hop I think.
Yeah, I'm really weird though. I try to pick artists that have mainly very positive reviews or critically acclaimed albums. I know, I'm weird.
I'm just a big fan of meaningful lyrics. But I've been trying to get a mix of music lately. Most of it ranges from soft rock, to pop punk, to metalcore etc. Hasn't changed much haha.
Prepare your ass faggots.
All God tier i promise you.
Damn, this is some good shit. Anon, you got some fine taste in music.
Not sure if you'll like this but I've been listening to this a whole lot.
Hmm. I am not really sure if I can recommend anything for you with those types of genres. I mostly listen to electro, rap, rock, RnB, some metal. I listen to a lot, but if your looking for a spin on rap and edm or electro, give Flume a try. he has an entire album where he remixes Biggie Smalls tracks. pretty solid.
are you looking for something like this?
I'm just looking to spread my musical interests. Trying not to be so close minded about music. This is just a small selection of my music.
Looks like you don't listen to a lot of rap. Since I see Nas and Biggie, I am assuming you like to listen older generation music? I suggest listening to Wu-tang Clan. or specifically Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. Those two are probably the best people on Wu-Tang. Only if you listen to rap though. I know your looking for EDM, but I haven't delved to deep into that with rap.
Here's a song that's got rap and a funky beat. It's short and has some talking at the start and near the end.
Hmm. In my playlist I don't have much EDM or that style of music, since I keep forgetting to add them. But I just remembered off the top of my head about this one so i hop you enjoy.
Carbon Based Lifeforms
Various - Fahrenheit Project 1-7
Basically, anything at all on the Ultimae label
It is allPsychedelic Ambient, and fucking lovely it is too.
Then there is Boards of Canada - very good
and for your odd and slightly scary stuff, unsettling, etc...
try The Advisory Circle, especially As The Crow Flies.
That sad, pretty much anything on Ghostbox Records is good, if a little weird - it's not called Hauntology for nothing... sweet dreams.
I see what you mean. I used to be like that, but you just gotta explore. Sometimes the ones with a couple thousand plays have the better stuff. I'll try and see what I can do before 404
Thanks, I just stumble on these like no one's business. I actually barely discovered EDM like 5 years ago, but sad thing is that I'm the only one in town who likes this, so it's a solo adventure. All the remixes for that track are pretty good! Monstercat is a definite follow OP.
This. He has some pretty good tracks.
Duck Sauce is just amazing with a good name established from A-Trak
KOAN Sound is just.. Man.
If you want EDM with meaningful lyrics, look up Fox Stevenson/Stan SB, they're the same person.
All aboard the weeb train.
I think you'll enjoy their shit. They have some meanigful lyrics and have some good beats. If your really into lyrics check op Aesop Rock. He has an outstanding vocabulary and has the biggest selection compared to all other rappers.
I've been listening to EDM and all this stuff for almost a decade, but it got really popular now so I actually get to listen to some good shit, mostly bad though. Unfortunately all my friends aren't a big fan of EDM so I understand your solo adventure.
Mah nigga. I actually can't get into MF Doom as a rapper. He has some okay ones, but I just can't get into his style. Since you actually listen to Wu-tang, you got some Deltron 3030? My favourite track by him.
I'll dump a few songs I like from quite a broad selection of genres.
Headhunterz - Skyrim
Not many "singing" but some fuckin dragon born luff up in that shit
Really depends on what you're into. If you were a metalhead then you might like this
Which is kinda darker EDM
but if you want light, happy fun times then
AND YOU CANT FORGET GLITCH HOP
Been working with FL for the past couple years. Playing around with ableton, but I prefer the fruityloops interface way better.
Keep working, man. Shit takes years to acquire even the most basic amount of talent.
Part of why I love EDM. It is, by far, the most complex music form out there.
OP OP. You love metal. You need hardstylez. TRUUUST ME...All this dubstep, glitchhop, happy hardcore just ain't you mang.
You need the darker, harder, faster music.
HardSTYLES, gabba. Fuckin Angerfist. Now.
This has been my favorite trap song to date.
Literally the most beautiful percussion/synth I have ever heard in my fucking life. This shit is fucking magical.
Idk, I think some can be really good even if it's repetitive
Seeing you like hip-hop? ZHU and 20syl are getting big now. Kinda hard to find more.. Meh.
I suck at identifying genres
Siriusmo - Femuscle: http://youtu.be/xC5E6JN4s8E
Parov Stelar - Booty Swing: http://youtu.be/Eco4z98nIQY
I'd listen to it if there wasn't anything else on. not bad ,but not my style.
Mo Fo won't let me listen, made it unavailable in my location.
Electro swing is actually my guilty pleasure. I only ever listen to it when I manage to get upset or mad. always lifts me up calms me down.
This one's for your and OP.
This is more of a popular EDM style like avicii or calvin harris, but it's still pretty solid
ahahha that's the truth, I aint ever been coz I live in QLD. but the Qmusic event I went to here was like finding my long lost family of normal people that love music and that's about it
>implying you're not promoting your own song
Oldschool is best school.
OP, you should also listen to Netsky.
Ahhh me too!!! :D
defqon aint nuthin on stereos. Stereos and future is for hyper colour roid ragin fags.
Defqon is all lad related, which is still bad, peppered with some metal heads here and there because metal heads choice of EDM is hardstyles/gabba/hardcore/terrorcore etc...
The Qmusic events are a lil more lovie dovie, lil bit more norm, not metal at all tho...just youtube the crowds at defqon and you'll see the lad horror lol...
And you'll see the traditional dance of a lad LOL
I don't know, man.
Yeah, EDM was fucking amazing 5-10 years ago, but this shit is evolving. Fast.
Producers have better equipment to create near-perfect music now. It's just starting to sound cleaner and clearer.
The kicks are less fuzzy, synths less buzzy... Everything about dance music is getting BETTER each year.
That's why I don't listen to "old school" EDM
but that's just me
That 90s sound is so right!
I actually used to be like OP and one day went open minded. Too bad I didn't know /b/ by the time I did that, would've made the discovery process much easier.
Rusko - Cockney Thug (Caspa Remix): http://youtu.be/M2WuAPfaapY
I don't necessarily mean "old" in the chronological sense. I mean oldschool as in the sound/attitude. Like the difference between Benga and Borgore.
That said, I like electronic music of all kinds. It's unbridled sonic creativity at it's best. No limits. :)
just start listening to a fuck ton of live sets (which ironically enough really aren't live sets anymore) and see what you like.
aly and fila
above and beyond
all of those guys have weekly hour or two hour updates.
sometimes the genre is a bit off but trance and house are so intermingled now it's whatever.
If OP wants to go by producers that have a good amount of music on hand, this is what I'd recommend
fukkk Offf http://soundcloud.com/fukkkofffofficial/cyberpunkers-fuck-the-system
Gatekeeper - Chains: http://youtu.be/vulh4GLaqno
I'd accompany tracks to the names but I'm on mobile so it sucks.
Good. Like, 3 years ago.
shit tier "trance"
the guy's music is soft as fuck
not sure what the hype is. all the hispanics love him for some reason, though
>Above and Beyond
music is getting faggier and faggier
their music only sounds good on festival speakers, but they play good sets
Some of my favorite dubstep songs
Pubs, everywhere...which is great. But then it becomes a waking nightmare. Hippies, homeless people, crack heads.
And it's very much a tight nit community where you can't do shit without everyone knowing your business.Which again is good, but then, nightmare.
Metal crowd is like 5 people thick. Great metalheads, but still, slim pickins for music buddies...And everyone loves dubstep. Makes you resent dubstep and a lil thing called flange
Because there is a pub here, it's called Rumpus Room, that's because it is a Rumpus Room. West Enders don't relax and kick back in their lounge rooms, they go to a pub which treats you like royalty if you live here. You get to kick people out if you don't like their douchbag steeze, you can hide in there on a Thursday night with three people who know your life story but don't know your phone number and consider you a great friend.
It's like Home and Away here minus the diner, plus the rumpus room, and for really dramatic moments we go stare at the man made beach at southbank instead of the beach at Summer Bay
I'll dump more if requested.
Savant is godtier, I totally recommend him.
Hope this helps OP.
Dancey shit i'm liking right now (some of it is pretty old.)
Anna Lunoe, yeaaah aussie reppin'
Golden Features, yeaaah aussie reppin'
Motez, yeaaah aussie reppin'
and this song, thats not dancey but fucking rocks so i should also mention Salva: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34LyiriE6eo
Also latest Lady Gaga album (ARTPOP) is mostly EDM (well it has other genres too, check out "Swine" "Aura" "Mary Jane Holland" "Donatella" "G.U.Y." and if you like just listen to the whole album)
Get on spotify, search for "deep house essentials" playlist, you're welcome.
Deep house that I like (shit that everyone's heard)
Anyone have similar to these that I might not have heard?
here are some highlights
Here's some of my electronic dance music (not to be confused with EDM tracks from the likes of Deadmau5, Avicii, Martin Garrix, all those other cunts, etc. .
"I listen to things that record companies shove down my throat because I'm too fucking stupid to look for artists I like, and if you don't, you have autism!"
Here's a cactus, shove it directly up your ass.
these are all amazing holy shit! thank you anon
Move to West End, it is honestly the greatest suburb. Cafes, bars, live music, markets, the only problem we had was rent was a bit exxy, but we found a sweet old 3 bedder for 130 a week between 3 of us, then girlfriends moved in and payed too. Theres just too many characters there, miss it and only moved out of there a month ago.
Np man, it's hard to find new types of good music from scratch.
I'll dump more:
Its definately not party music, but its still considered EDM. Edm is just an umbrella term for any kind of electronic music, whether you can dance to it or not. Even music you just kick back and chill to. EDM / electronica are synonymous.
Here's what I've been listening to. It is EDM, not wubstep or dubwop or whatever those kids listen to these days.
Arty, Kaskade, Steve Angello. These are one of my favorite artists but Kaskade is number 1 for me.
You might wanna check:
Show Me Love (Bass King Bootleg)
Kaskade - Something something champs
Axwell - In My Mind (Andrew Rayel Rebuild)
If you want dubstep, I enjoy Zomboy especially his sets. I went to UMF 2014 and his set was fucking massive even though it's only 15 mins. Kaskade's set in EDC was nice too.
Not even my point. You're perfectly entitled to like those artists "for real", but just like people who like McDonalds and Little Caesar's "for real", you have shit taste and have no room to shit on someone else's.
Monstercat, he's a releaser (idk what that shit is called im 15)
few really good artists in the albums, too many to just name a few of
it might be too generic of edm of youre looking for more unique artists but its still good
anon the problem is this guy, along with most of /mu/ have an elitist complex which tells them if many people listen to something - it's bad
what if i tell you i also listen to more hipster stuff like blackmill, half moon run, of monsters and men?
No money? No problem. You can find a sharehouse here with slightly exy rent. But you'll have a boat load of free food, booze and coffee to make up for it.
Everyone is real community orientated here. Everyone gives and expects nothing in return.
This anon knows the steeze...
popular music wouldnt be popular if it wasnt good my friend, that's not to say there isnt good music out there that isnt popular, but your fedora is showing when you say shit like that.
except not, tbh I lately listen to mostly acoustic performances
at first I didn't really like her cuz of the stupid shit she does but then I listened to her live stuff and realized how dumb it is to ignore "mainstream" artists just so you can say "ohh look at me I'm so cool, I listen to stuff noone has ever heard of"
P.S. i never shat on anyone's music taste, i just said that you're pathetic for shitting on "mainstream" artists
You're right and you're wrong. Obviously, there's fucking incredible popular music. Look at The Beatles, The Smiths, Prince, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails - the list goes on and on. But you're not seriously going to sit there and tell me with a straight face that half the music on top 40 radio is "good", are you? What do you qualify as good?
Don't get me wrong - there is absolutely nothing wrong with Gaga. I have no issue with mainstream *artists*. That's not who I shit on. My issue is more with the likes of Justin Bieber and Lana Del Rey - they may have some talent, but they're not making art, they're acting as a hand puppet for major labels pushing ideas designed by think tanks to exploit vulnerable demographics.
well nowadays youth is designed since birth to praise shits like JB, 1D, Lana Del Rey
there are some mainstream artists tho, who manage to use "the system" more than "the system" uses them (that's actually one of the main reasons I like gaga)
part of the problem is that there aren't enough people willing to change, morons like JB want to get used/abused by labels cuz all he wants is fame and money (he obviously can't get bitches, he has to pay for them) so basically while the "artists" on top 40 are willing to be used by labels in exchange for money and fame, there won't be good mainstream music
I could go on for days about how much I love Gaga. The Fame and Born This Way are still two of my favorite pop albums ever, and after seeing her at SXSW this year, I have to say it kind of hurts to see her start to fall out of favor with the mainstream. She really is the kind of artist the mainstream needs.
And yeah, in regards to JB and 1D and all of those so-called artists, I think this basically says it best. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCVGpvzcHko
If you're gonna post Barely Alive at least post some of their good music. "All God tier" my ass.
Other music that's better than this faggot's who thinks he has good taste
Please take the time to listen to all of these I promise you won't regret it
