/b/ros, im looking for good emo style music to listen to, i already listen to underoath (pic related, one of my favorite albums),the red jumpsuit apparatus, the get up kids, american football and some others, can anyone point me in the direction of good bands like those?
lol fag Peirce teh Vail is were its at mexicoar ftw tacos n shit
FFTL mah boi
Spencer Stoleto did some re-recordings on vocals with em
saw those guys live recently, some chill dudes. Apparently I look disturbingly like Nate did when he had longer hair. Someone actually asked if I was Nate's younger brother
Touche Amore, Pianos Become the Teeth, The Wonder Years, Sorry No Sympathy, Circa Survive, Balance and Composure, Listener, Tigers Jaw
>mfw emo style music
Please don't call it that
I actually offered to jam with them and replace Sam on clean vocals since I go to college right next to their practice space, but they found some dude from Texas or some shit. He's good at least so hopefully they take a turn from the typical Rise band with neat guitar solos.
if you're looking for "heavy" emo, stick with deathcore. not bad bands though
You might be right. I can't stand BMTH. I remember I was with a girl and we went to see them with ETID. I stayed up front with that bitch all throughout BMTH and once ETID came on it went bat shit crazy and she ended up not being able to handle it so we had to go in the back.
ETID is legit.
its ok, i forgive you
AHHHHH SHEEEEEIT that brings me back.
>Silverstien (My favorite band of all time, highly recommend Shipwreck In The Sand, but literally everyone of their albums is great)
>The Amity Affliction (Their new album Let The Ocean Take Me is one of the best albums of this year)
>Crown The Empire
>Bring Me The Horizon (I know its metalcore or whatever but it's kinda emo)
>The Used (older albums)
>My Chemical Romance
Silverstein - Yes
Amity Affliction - Dood no.
Crown the Empire - Just gtfo
BMTH - No really, g t f o
Hawthorn Heights - not bad but still get out.
The used - gotta respect.
MCR - I skipped them on their very last show ever at Bamboozle 2012
I actually really liked Sempiternal and think Oli was decent on the album but live he just sounds like he's dying. And she could take BMTH but not Every Time I Die? Hope you dumped her at the hairspray-scented myspace page you found her.
you are a gentleman and a scholar
my therapist knew some of the guys from HH, chill dudes supposedly.
ech I would come to their defense for the step forward with Sempiternal but aside from that they're quite overrated
I agree with >>560155001
I don't even like Hawthorne Heights anymore, I liked them when I went through my emo phase when I was like 12 and thought everything was so deep, but know I can't even listen to them anymore.
>no lyrical telent and no musical creativity just gtfo.
because being nominated and winning 7-9 awards
(they also won like 2 awards in the AP music awards)
Plus they are amazing live
before or after count your blessings? in my opinion, their first ep and cyb were pretty good. then they turned metalcore and lost complexity and oli started fry screaming and you get the picture...
oh they changed a lot. There are actual CHORD PROGRESSIONS in their songs now. Oli sometimes actually sings melodies. Lyrics are still gay as shit but oh well. They took some post rock influences on it and made it quite unique for a modern emo album compared to the thousands of SWS wannabes floating around
"(they also won like 2 awards in the AP music awards)" - LOL I bet you have black hair and listen to Falling in Reverse. If you think the AP awards is important at all then you really need to grow up. Jethro Tull won a metal award over Metallica.
I have seen them at least 4 times horrible each time. If you think this is good you have no idea.
Old school emo kid here.
Scary kids scaring kids
The blood brothers
Taking back sunday first couple of albums
Old school escape the fate
More if ur interested.
Fuckyeah that singer with the stupidly long name
That first sentence is the point of points. Gawd words can't describe how many times i've heard that excuse used to defend shit bands.
whoa no need for fisticuffs
I have dark brown hair, and I don't like Falling In Reverse that much they might have one or two decent songs but they suck. My fav bands are Silverstein, Parkway Drive, BMTH, Emery, Atreyu, and Muse
I was making a point because you said they are lyrically terrible but they won multiple awards on their music, wikipedia just didn't update the list of awards they have so I had to include that.
>Jethro Tull won a metal award over Metallica. What does this have anything to do with anything? And does anyone still even care about that?
When you see them live do you just sit back in the back of the crowd away from everyone? Dude go into the crowd and have fun, thats why they are so awesome live cause they know how to make the crowd have fun.
Pierce The Veil, My Chemical Romance, Of Mice & Men, Crown The Empire, Memphis Mayfire, D.R.U.G.S., Bring Me The Horizon, A Day To Remember, La Dispute, The Used, Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!, Defeater, Sworn In, Title Fight, Chiodos, Citizen
For real brand new is to this day the first band i throw at people. So Underated in the music industry it makes me sick..
Fuck yeah , the era before all the glam pop shit started to berate the indy scene, and the brocorefags taking over the hardcore scene. I was lucky.
I agree with every band on this list except La Dispute. I just don't understand why people like that band, I can't stand the main vocals of the band it literally sounds like a cat dying, his voice is unbearable. But like everything else about the band is neat I love the instruments but I just can't listen to them without my ears bleeding
I would agree with most of those aside from maybe MMF. C!N,CC! is an immense guilty pleasure of mine. Pierce the Veil for the amount of shit I give them are actually a big influence on my songwriting (not lyricism, their lyrics are bullshit). And Chiodos is amazing.
brag about it why don't ya
Wow.. let me start do you even potato?
>I don't like Falling In Reverse that much they might have one or two decent songs
lol my point exactly...
> but they won multiple awards on their music
>>Jethro Tull won a metal award over Metallica. What does this have anything to do with anything? And does anyone still even care about that
The point you fucking idiot is that obviously Jethro Tull is not a metal musician yet he won an award. The point is that awards don't mean shit. The labels these bands are on determine what awards they get Look shit up.
>Dude go into the crowd and have fun
Lol You are a funny one.
I see you like Emery. Here is a pic of me at Emery's 10 Year anniversary tour. BTW after that show they signed my T&N tour poster from 2004 where Anberlin, Far Less, and THe Classic Crome opened for them.
But yea dood I will try to go into the crowd more thanks.
inb4 faggot at picture.
ech I personally love La Dispute but hey different strokes for different folks. I get where you're comin from though, the dude has a pretty weird vocal style. It works for me but I doubt it works for many. I just enjoy how he conveys the emotions of the story through how he talks, it's like storytelling really. But hey it doesn't click for everyone.
ok heaven I'll give you credit that was amusing.
I mean I try to write mexicore, only take out the embarrassing shit and make it actually tolerable. I'm from Cali and am Puerto Rican so I have quite a latin influence.
exactly bro. King park still gives me shivers
I'm not gonna argue shit anymore, it's too fucking early in the morning. But circle who you are then take a pic (hopefully you're not the guy with the hat looking away from the camera) of yourself now with. timestamp and THEN I'll believe you, you know how the rules work here
Yeah man totally agree with you. I'll probably like them more if he didn't have that high pitched scream
glad ur open minded. yeah his voice can grate but hey its your taste.
good song too, but sorta feels too much like a sob story. King Park is just the worst of humanity put on display and its just so depressingly amazing.
never listened to them! I'll give em a listen when I'm Runescaping tomorrow
that's what gets me the most about King Park too, it just feels so real. It doesn't feel like its trying to prove anything, it's just recounting what happened (which did happen) so we can learn from the stupidity of the past. I can get behind storytelling like that, none of this heavy handed "ANTHEMS TO THE DOWNTRODDEN FAGGOTS" bullshit. Just reality.
Blood On The Dance Floor
i've been notewatching Thomas Erak for a vocal range thread in The Range Place. The dude has an impressive vocal range. Like almost 4 octaves.
Butsrysly check out Spyglass Hill
OP has impeccable taste. They're Only Chasing Safety is one of the greatest albums of all time.
I'll list some suggestions in alphabetical order.

Oh well, I am a fan of these so lets see if you like other stuff from my playlist:
Thats it for now...that I at least think may line up with your interest.
(Also, before moaning, these are just what I think line up with OPs interest)

Shit. Looked it up to find out and I guess it's only tentative. They played some 10th anniversary shows together in California already, but they haven't announced a permanent reunion is a sure thing.
>good emo style music
well there's your problem. There isn't any.
