>inb4 during and after plebian general
>Implying Lain was anything more then convoluted and the weakest of ABe's teams work.
Haibane Renmai master race reporting in. Despera never
I don't remember this much hate for the series back when the first season was still being put out. Was I just oblivious to it or is this a recent development?
Best of the SciAdv series, but still just a mediorce adaptation of the superior VN
Sure is edgy and preteen in here tonight, amirite
Above average. Entry level sure, but an enjoyable experience none the less. The Mangaka's followup work Gin no Saji is a superior example of writing though.
>Darker than black
Chinese Electric Batman is cool, but it did not age well. If you are looking for an action series there are many others out and depending on what in particularly you liked about DTB there are better examples of it. Average
Pacing is terrible, but the story and ambiance make it tolerable. Johan best girl
Fujoshit, but the latest series is interesting so far. I will reserve judgement until Noah's Ark is finished.
Come at me casuals
Oh wait fuck me its 6:14 in glorious europe and I'm tired, sorry you meant SAO
I havent watched SAO 2, but alfheim bullcrap pretty much raped a really good anime, that causes the hate
>Implying SAO isn't the dumbest wish fulfillment bullshit ever
Yes I know I took the bait, but here's a Chinese cartoon that isn't shit.
still one of the best anime I've ever had the pleasure to watch
Other than the end of season reveal being botched and the CG it wass a superior adaptation of the manga which is known for it's incredibly bad art.
That said. It does not deserve either the hype it gets, nor the scorn. The pacing is shit in the second cour, like I said earlier the CG is painful, the protagonist is a mingling Edgemaster stuck in that weird early 2000's MUH REVENGE archetype, dialog is stilted, you don't care when the characters die because there is no emotional investment in them since they are all shallow and one dimensional.
But still there are many things that are much much worse. The problem is the fanbase which consists entirely of low powerlevel causals who discovered it on tumblr MAL or Reddit and now think of themselves as anime experts. They hype the fuck out of a below average series leading to massive backlash from people that have actually seen more than a handful trying to explain that there is much better stuff out there. This gets latched onto by tryhard casuals that want to fit in so they start screaming about how shit it is without even understand why it is substandard, and so the entire thing turns into one big clusterfuck of uniformed opinions.
Try recent top, there is really nothing else to watch.
Read the books. The fanservice is present, but it is nowhere near as bad as the anime makes it.
Plus the books are really fucking great and delve into the world so much that some of the best discussion you will find on 4chan is in Raildex General, so long as no one says that a certain someone is a shitty generic tsundere, if that happens all bets are off.
Pic related was from yesterday's Raildex thread.
Ergo Proxy, give it a watch, it's hardly an anime at all, doesn't follow any of the stupid goddamn tropes, and has an awesome art style/soundtrack.
this board really does have the worst taste
Way to ruin your own attempt at an anime thread on /b/.
Could someone tell me when Clannad picks up? So far up until Fuko's death has been painfully boring. Does it ever pick up its pace; or is this what I should expect for the rest of Clannad, and AS?
and this yes.
i hate your fucking pussy ass animes with your cliched bullshit.
watch champloo. enjoy an animated story that couldve easily not been animated.
watch Shigurui:Death Frenzy. and see what real story telling can do.
The Skullman is a definite recommendation. Easily my all-time favourite.
This. If you haven't at least seen Kanjou wa Kanjou wa Neko do yourself a favor it is only a few minutes long.
It depends, there is so much out there, what are you in the mood for? There are thousands of series to watch. Since your powerlevels seem pretty low I can offer you so easy to get into entry level stuff that is more than just hype
Not sure if I would go so far as to say that is god tier, but it was quite good in my opinion. I just want to list some anime that are not always in these threads.
Blast of the Tempest
Can't say it wasn't an interesting watch though anon. Maybe I just like it because it has an atmosphere similar to Half Life 2, who knows.
Alright, I can understand this. I certainly was not a big fan of the alfheim shit either; I'm mainly watching because I don't like leaving a story if there's more to see/read.
Also might as well try my hand at this, some of my favorites include:
-Welcome to NHK
I'd like to add an anime I watched just recently too, but I copied the link to it from here and finished the series in a day or two (left the page open). I'm sure you guys will know it:
>group of friends when young
>little girl dies
>friends grow apart
>girl's ghost bring them back together
>so many feels
ring a bell?
I'm also watching Zankyou no Terror, Akame ga Kill!, Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei, Rokujouma no Shinryakusha, and SWO 2 this season. Anyone know any other good ones out that I should also watch?
>Welcome to NHK
Enjoyable as fuck, even if it is vapid wish fulfillment. The LN is a lot harsher and really makes you aware of how broken all the characters are.
HEADTILTS. Not everyone's cup of tea. I enjoy the fuck out of it, but I am a Shinbo fan boy. Don't let the first few minutes of the first episode fool you. It is dialog heavy, but Shinbo's trademark stylic flourishes make it visually interesting.
It's alright I guess, nothing special.
I enjoyed it. It's definitely one you have to pay attention to if you want to comprehend what's actually going on. Also Pino is one of my favs of all time
Well I'm glad I'm not into manga then
I watched the alfheim stuff because I had to, I wanted to see that faggot fairy dude burn
Glad there's some people sharing my opinion on it, it's hard to find people not circlejerking eachother and their mother over this
Before I forget. Hellsing Ultimate
From start to end they should have ended it with season 1. Yeah ending wraps it up in a nice little bow, but it's an anime that seems to keep digging in order to get out of the already deep hole it made.
Pino is fucking awesome, but yeah, Ergo Proxy is in my top five.
To be honest though, my favorite Vietnamese Claymation is still probably Code Geass. So many feels...
The Jojo OVA wass pure unadulterated awesome. The new adaptations, are too CG for me. They used the same wire framework for all the bodies so everyone looks the same.
I did enjoy seeing Phantom Blood animated though. I honestly never thought that would happen with the popularity of Stardust Crusaders overshadowing everything.
i mean, even from that clip you can tell thats a pretty shitty anime, the dude is just like ya ok ive got this gun, but im gonna let this bitch run at me in a straight line and stare at her. Where the fuck did you even see this garbage? Netflix? Is that a Netflix anime you just posted OP?
So anyone else hear there might be a new season of black lagoon? Pretty stoked.
Currently rewatching Paranoia agent...it's...kinda lame now that I know the ending but I'm picking up a lot more [heavy handed] hints that I should have seen my first time.
Bake,Nise,etc.-monogatari. They were all good, forgot to mention them. I remember really enjoying Deadman Wonderland, but I think it went on hiatus or something and I never finished it. Also, Tokyo ghoul has been pretty good so far. Thinking about it, If you're in it for action, maybe skip the monogataris.
death note is my all-time favorite. it was terribly cliche and at times really shitty, but i had a lot of respect for how it was written. mostly the ending, which i thought was phenomenal.
takes a certain mindset to watch.
It gets a lot of hype, but if you are going to mention Durarara!! you should definitely bring up it's superior older brother BACCANO!
Watch Baccano first, and then have a good laugh during the Dollars gathering in Durarara!!
The pacing stays generally the same, slow as fuck.
IMO it is definitely worth the trek up through AS.
If you finish Clannad and get a couple of episodes into AS though and don't feel attached to any of the characters at all yet then just drop it like the heartless bastard you are it is not meant to be.
If flcl is your favorite though then I'd just assume that the pacing of Clannad will really hurt.
Oh and more /b/tards need to watch Welcome To The NHK.
Lots of relate-able feels for me...

Beck: Mongolian Chop squad literally one of the inspirations to get into playing guitar which I have now been doing for the last 7 years.
Give the new adaptation another shot, its one of the best animes ive seen in a while, even though their bodies do look a like it does the job of making all of them look strong and powerful (besides its their faces, personalities clothing that really makes the characters stand out)
> Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon Doraemon
The new chapter is coming out pretty soon, can't wait for them to get off that fucking boat
Hey, m8. Will do.
Also, anyone got an opinion on Space Dandy. I've find it off and on rather enjoyable, this episode in specific though was some good shit.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventures
Humanity has Declined
Fist of the North Star
Others I like which I know people might not be a huge fan of
No Game No Life
Death Note (until L dies)
Cromartie High School
It's one of those things you will either love or hate. It has pacing issues, and struggles to find it's identity in a number of places. The conceit is a tad obtuse unless you have read much philosphy, but if you have it is almost laughably shallow and pretentious.
It's one of those ones I would definitely recommend to people in their teens early twenties, since they seem to place a greater value in intentionally obscuring things and causal imagery meant to evoke something but related to nothing.
Basically it's a tale told by a fool signifying naught but sound and fury.
how about mirai nikki? i thought it was pretty good
Read the manga. Should I bother watching the anime?
You're all welcome, one of the best manga I've ever read.
knights of sidonia (AOT/SNK in space) wasn't bad. it had a lot more character development than AOT did, and the animation/CG style was interesting and different, although it could be refined a bit
The biggest problem with Space Dandy is the production team. I noticed it on the third episode and confirmed it in the credits. They are switching their Unit Direct and Key animators with every episode. While this does lead to a diverse selection of styles and direction, it lead to inconsistency within the series. If Space Dandy had been a series of OVA this would be perfect, but when you are trying to craft a cohesive narrative it comes across as disjointed.
I found the Ramen episode and the Many worlds Dandy episodes in particular to be quite good.
Everything I'm watching right now that's new:
Akame ga kill!
Zankyou no Terror aka >>560679764 (fukin gud m8)
Pretty much all the good up and coming stuff
DONT YOU WANT TO MAKING FUCK?! BERSERKER! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stdY7NMWhLc
I'm still following SAO, the girl thing is kind of stupid and they're getting off track but I really hope they stick with it. I'm glad the laughing coffin guild is actually involved in GGO. His avatar in the game is faggot as fuck though.
When I first watched the 25 episodes of SAO I was fucking amazed at the first episode and knew I'd love it. I loved it even though the Elf game,
They absolutely should have kept it purely Sword Art Online, no other games. There's 100 fucking floors to that shit and after 3 episodes they've been in the game for a year. They could have really made it a solid long series in SAO, going floor to floor. If they need time for good episodes, switch back to the real world for a bit with his sister and mother watching him at the hospital, switching to the guy who was giving Asuna the D while she's in game, see what happened with it.
I still like it for sure, but they really fucked up what could have been incredible.
No Naruto is a special case. Naruto is a gateway anime of the worst kind. It's a bad series, a clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive shipping faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.
However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The superpowered characters all trying their hardest to look cool, the jutsus, peculiar, colorful clothes, the whole ninja faggotry and everything about the Naruto world fuels their escapist fantasies, while the pity-party character backgrounds, emphasis on revenge, and overall preachiness of the series make it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up.
Naruto is basically THE series to attract the most hated anime fanbase known to /a/, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every anon to troll the fuck out of this show and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no Naruto threads ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces on 4chan.
Here's what I've seen and liked so far:
Some black lagoon
Some space dandy (fuck you I think it's entertaining, this show doesn't need plot lines)
Seen SAO, wish I didn't
Seen Fairy Tale, wish it had a better story line.
Avatar: TLA, my first and favorite anime.
Legend of Korra, season 1 was meh, season 2 and 3 just seem like they writers are high. Get a plot line and stick to it
As you can tell I'm new to the anime world, could some anons point me in the right direction? Preferably animes netflix accessible or free to stream online
How long till the chapter after though, or will we even get anymore
I'm not really into anime but I admit it was a damn good series and far too short.
I'm liking kyousougiga and Tatami galaxy so far
Watched the first ep of Kaiba and Katanagatari as well but I'll put them on hold for now. Not that I didn't like em though.
I honestly don't really like anything at all this season. I dropped so many things. I'll keep up with Barakamon if only to keep hearing that Noisy Cell ED. Its nice and comfy.
Is there anyone here who's seen either Hanasaku Iroha or Gatchman Crowds? I'm wondering if they're any good or not.
>Some space dandy (fuck you I think it's entertaining
>thinking you have to qualify liking space dandy
space dandy is pretty much some of the best anime to ever come out, it exemplifies what anime CAN be if people actually TRY...
because it's actually funny, like funny to normal people, like real humor and jokes instead of japanese anime jokes
the fish episode done by the tatami galaxy guy, holy shit. one of the best anime episodes or anime EVER made
Everyone hates SAO because it's popular to hate it for snobby cheeto-caked neckbeards who think because something's popular, it automatically makes it shit
SAO is my favorite show in general, and it kicks your "superior" tastes' ass any day.
Pretty as in attractive or pretty as in fairly?
Katanagatari is very pretty and very well done.
Kara no Kyoukai is kind of pretty, but has very contemporary designs from Nasu.
Both are good and both are completely different.
>another anime thread
>nobody seems to acknowledge the existence of anything more than 5 years old
>things like "ninja scroll" and "tank police" never get mentioned
fyi guys the newer stuff is pretty much worse across the board. target the period from 1992-2002 or so if you wanna see some good anime
Shut up with your hipster bullshit, anime has been consistent throughout the years. There's real gems this year honestly and throughout the years. Are the tons of shitty anime though yeah. Just because your fondest memories come from the older ones doesn't mean the newer ones aren't as good.
Did you know the Assault team faced off and killed many of the criminal guilds such as Laughing Coffin? Kirito himself killed 2-3 players in the battle
Shows what we missed out on
It's based on a LN, and in the original web novel they are fucking for no reason in the 15th chapter. It made no sense and even after it was reedited into a LN it still felt like it came out of no where. I haven't read the manga, but if they fixed that then great otherwise I will give you pic related
no one said gantz???? step up your shit. i havent watching anime in years, gantz was the last thing i watched and really liked it.
my nigga. I still think ninja scroll is still the overall best OVA ever made
except for akira, which ranks among the best movies ever made, not animes...doesnt really deserve to be discussed along with other animes, pretty much totally transcends them.
OUTLAW STAR. BERSERK. SAMURAI CHAMPLOO. MONSTER. TANK POLICE. WOLF'S RAIN. ERGO PROXY. SUCK MY DICK.
Really fucking hated the series. Tried so hard to be edgy and symbolic, and shinji was a motherfucking little homo bitch the entire show. Maybe he gets his shit together like Simon from TTGL? nope. Shiji be a bitch from start to finish, and jacks off to some homo shit to boot. Ending was so much garbage I couldn't bring myself to finish the last two episodes.
Not yet started watching tokyo ghoul but it's on my list, I'll watch it first thing tomorrow
as for Rail Wars, I guess it's alright, one of the weaker animes this season, I give it fourth spot
1. Akame Ga Kill
2. Zankyou No Terror
3. Psycho Pass
4. Rail Wars
Your autism is showing
>watch berserk when i was only 15
>suddenly the ending
>wow this is pretty awesome i never see all of the characters in an anime die...wait what is happening now wtf this music and hes touching her wtf is WTF
I'm still scarred from that show, ill probably never rape a woman now
Sword of the Stranger, Redline. I also mentioned those last night. Both are pure and unadulterated eyecandy. Redline is great in an over the top super stylized way, and sword of the stranger is THE one to watch for amazing samurai action, even if the badest motherfucker in the series is some gaijin working for some chinks.
I remember beating-off to my Ninja Scroll VHS when I was like 12 or 13.
He's not, though, since his avatar's body type gave off that impression, he is acting under the assumption that he is a girl. As for why this is the place, I don't know. In my opinion, it's more retarded than a sack of chromosomes.
Berserk (New 3 movies called Golden Age Arc)
Battle Angel Alita/Gunnm
Record of Lodoss War
Ruruoni Kenshin Tsuiokuhen (Death and Betrayal)
Anything by Satoshi Kon
Anything by Studio Ghibli
Shin Chan (Watch the english dub, funnier than the original episodes were by far)
Demon City Shinjuku
Forgot all about trigun. Man that shit was great. Kinda like space dandy, only the plot to trigun is more.... present. The ending made no sense to me, but it was still a good watch.
Blue Exorcist, anybody? Nobody ever mentions it, i found it pretty damn good.
Lol - haven't seen sword and gun animes before, so this completely blew my mind. It's not like I've seen Akira or Lain or a lot of other animes in my life - no, this is the very first anime I've seen, where a little girl wields a swrod, and she fights somebody, and wow, that is so awesome that my life has completely changed now. I think I'm going to have a lie down on the floor before I faint. This has been pure enlightenment, really. You are truly a master connoseur of anime.
>Sword of the Stranger
make sure to watch shigurui if you like period sword stuff. like real stuff, not superpower stuff
then read the manga, out of everything i know it is the anime that is most enhanced by reading the manga after, because the anime ends 1/3 of the way through the story
I'm watching Beck right now. Pretty damn good.
>mfw I've only seen 8 of these
>mfw at least I've seen 8 of these
