Gonna make this short and simple.
I never liked anime that much or cared for it, but a friend introduced me to Attack on Titan which i really liked.
However, there is only one season. Are there any similar ones i might like?
Also, something Fallout or Stalker-like would be cool as well. Dystopia in general.
And only if they are dubbed, japaneese voices still piss me off
Sup. You might enjoy Kill la Kill (Stick with it, it's pretty funny and gets semi serious at the end.),
Death Note (I'm not saying this to be edgy, I genuinely enjoyed it)
Black Butler ( I always liked the old early 1900's, late 1900's setting, this particular one in Britain. Don't bother with season 2 though.)
Right now I'm starting into Psycho Pass, which is pretty fucking awesome. Watching the first episode got me hooked.
I forgot to mention these are all dubbed and can be watched on Netflix too
Thanks /b/ros, i'll definitely have a look at all of them. Some of them i know of, like Fullmetal Alchemist (didnt like that one much for some reason), and Death Note (only read a manga).
Eh, what can i say, i just find japaneese voices irritating for some reason
Can someone explain why everyone wanks over guren lagann so much? I thought it was so fucking overrated and just retarded. Like the people in it don't act like real people they just act fucking crazy and they expect me to make a connection with them?
Annie is the greatest.
No other character even comes close.
No other character is as well written or deep.
If you disagree, you're objectively wrong.
Every arc without her has been shitty and lacking.
I'm tired of following around the flat and boring characters.
She is the most human character and by far the most interesting.
Legitimately, the plot and entire manga is suffering without her.
Other characters like Eren or Historia just can not bring anything to the table.
Vilify her all you want, but she is able to sacrifice for the greater good.
Eren and friends? A bunch of boring faggots. Ymir? A shit.
Annie brings great characterization and literary merit. She makes the whole manga.
Nobody has shown even an ounce of the depth she can bring.
Not Levi, not Eren, nor Historia.
In one short monologue, Annie blew all the other characters out of the water.
Eren and Mikasa are fucking shits.
Isayama needs to step up his fucking game and drop the fujobait brigade.
Seriously, why isn't Annie the main character?
Luckily, she will wake up soon and make this manga interesting again.
I will wait for her.
Everything I do, I do it for her.
ONLY ANIME THAT MUST BE WATCHED DUBBED
Read the manga as well, but never watched the anime. Is it any different?
22 if it makes any difference. AoT is pretty decent. And japaneese voices piss me off to no end.
Its like im admitting i like Iron Maiden and metalfags shitting on me for not listening to "real" metal. So what, i like Iron Maiden. Piss off.
I do not know of a single dub I prefer over the original, sub I can understand but dub, seriously?
If your friends give you AoT as a "good" anime you're friends are more to blame then you.
Not even trying to be elitist, first reading this I thought it was a bait thread in /a/
Its a matter of personal preference.
Something you prefer might be better than someone else's preference, but its still a matter of oppinion.
I liked Aot. I might change my mind later if and when i am more familliar with anime (as i said, i was never a fan or watched it), but for now it suits my needs
Thats fair enough I guess, I just have bit of a personal scorn with it and LoK alike, enjoyed the mangas for it to be ruined by what I consider crappy animes.
You'd probably like Hellsing, Cowboy Bebop, you might even enjoy Sword art Online tbh.
western = cartoon
so no, Korra is not anime. But you can always ask for cartoon recommendations as well. Tho don't expect too much other than muh marvel and muh dc. lurk /co/ for a week and see what's airing.
I haven't seen much dubbed anime, I think only one, which was Planetes. The voice actors are great, I think one of the main protagonists sounds a bit like Goku (from dbz).
Anyway, it's kind... a drama? But it's definitely a funny one, and it makes you think about stuff. Only small bits of action towards the end, but overall very interesting I found. It's about a group of people who collect space debris.
Just thought I'd offer it as a suggestion, I never see anyone who has watched it.
Books as in real books not manga? I wasn't aware, i definitely need to check that out.
Yeah, i am not a fan of Marvel or DC. DC especially. I like Deadpool, but thats it.
>It's about a group of people who collect space debris.
Sounds original so far, i'll have a look at it as well.
I plan of watching a single episode of all animes suggested in the thread, and continue watching the ones i like.
Some of my favorites are
>Sword art online is alright. Season 2 is better though.
and I'm starting deadmans wonderland or watamot today but you can't go wrong with any of those I listed.
Definitely original, the first half starts out very quirky and overall quite funny, doesn't take itself too seriously, then the second half grabs you in completely, it becomes more of a drama, since you know the characters well by then it's great. Would recommend giving it a whirl (I didn't think it'd be interesting myself). I can openly say it's got a good English voice cast on it.
Hope you enjoy it bro.
>Attack on Titan which i really liked
So did I. But after reading the manga, it turns into Naruto-esque where there is no plot resolution and things start to suck more and more, no resolution to anything, and it gets just unbelievable, even within the universe it's in, with all it's contradictions.
I think the manga is fine. It's just that the current political arc really has been dragging on for too long, and is boring as fuck as well as being completely devoid of any Titans.
Watch "Desert punk", desert dystopia and it is english dubed.
...also "Jin-roh", it is more of a political, police-state dystopia.
Btw. i am a sucker for cool looking armour.
Watch Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's fucking awesome and only 26 episodes and 5 movies.
Holy shit, this. Evangelion is fucked up and epic. All of my friends were telling me to watch it, and I finally got around to finishing it a few weeks ago. I might start reading the manga soon.
