here's one: Navajo sandstone formations in Utah came from an ancient desert formed from the erosion of the Appalachian mountains 100 or so million years ago, straight from the mouth of the zion park ranger
>>578782537 sorry that is average distance, not min, minimum is 225k miles but apogee still stands above equatorial diameter of all planets and dwarf planets (though it would be tight and wouldn't account for Saturn's rings if I remember correctly)
In 2003 there was a lab in Switzerland that publicized the process of bioengineering synthetic limbs which was originally created for soldiers who had lost limbs during service. Pictures were released as well as a few time lapse videos showing one mans missing leg growing back entirely and proportionally to the other leg. In 2006 this process was abandoned due to a case in which one of the scientists grew a third synthetic arm to pleasure himself during long hours of tedious research. This process would be later named "the golden solution" effect, until the arm gained self awareness and killed over-
horses were native to north america and from there radiated out to eurasia across the arctic land bridges that formed from time to time
horses were amongst the american mega-fauna that became extinct 10,000 years before the present, along with ground sloths, sabre toothed cats, hippos, elephants and the like
the horses that escaped from spanish shipwrecks did 'go native' and quickly swept the continent, completely changing north american indian cultures--particularly in the southwest--where these peoples changed from sedentary farmers to semi-nomadic horsemen, also reflected in their shifts in religious beliefs and rituals
except that the poltergeist phenomena were directly observed by some of his contemporaries, including jung
jung helped pauli tremendously after his breakdown, but pauli began analysing jung's theories and a critical analysis back-and-forth also helped jung to fine-tune them and set them onto a more secure, 'scientific' footing
poltergeist phenomena are well-documented, pauli had the good--or bad--fortune to be the only world-class modern scientist so afflicted
and he was aware enough to realise that HE was somehow doing these things himself at a 'sub-conscious' level
that is why he sought out jung and why he was finally able to gain control over the 'episodes' at least to a certain extent
the ineluctable fact that other physicists and scientists actually had to ban him from their labs--not because he deliberately broke things, but because the equipment itself would just start to go haywire by his mere presence--should be a sufficient marker that some actual physical manifestations were occurring in his presence
>>578788229 This guy is fucking with you, but there is something called zero net mass flow in superfluids (like helium at ~2K).
Actual science fact: Certain system can actually can have negative temperatures (negative degrees kelvin). Such systems are counter-intuitively hotter that any system with a positive temperature (in the sense that they will lose heat energy to any system with a positive temperature).
Fact: I'm starting to believe there is a god, or atleast a higher being
Why? because when something life changing happens it just coincidentally happens to be detoured by something and it's as if that higher being is either preparing me or stopping me from experience pain or happiness.
>>578787841 The symptoms are real, they are a result of chemicals in the brain, but these chemicals in the brain are not mental defects. If a person becomes depressed because their life is shitty they aren't mentally ill, they are reacting rationally to a poor life situation. If someone exhibits unusual behavior that doesn't make them mentally ill, that just makes them abnormal. It should be up to the patient to decide if they need medication to deal with their symptoms.
The mind is a process and not a physical organ. You can't medicalize human behavior all willy nilly and call it science.
>>578790327 Actually, it is true. Just because archaeologists haven't found the evidence yet doesn't mean it isn't there, it just means that jungles grow really fucking fast and have a tendency to cover things up so they are hard to find again.
>>578786392 Go watch the movie "Men under the sun" its about the ongoings of unit 731 and accurately depicts a lit of what they did there. Pretty fucked up. Also the autopsy scene done on a young boy may be real. People are still unsure. Although they really did light those rats on fire.
>>578790385 You clearly don't interact with anyone in healthcare often.
Patients are ALWAYS free to refuse any sort of treatment or medication UNLESS they are a danger to themselves or others. Full stop.
Many people are perfectly capable of coping with mental illness without treatment, this does not mean they do not have an illness. People cope with broken bones without getting a cast, we will keep calling those fractures.
Abnormal chemical imbalances are disorders by definition if they influence a person's thought process in a negative way.
There is also a huge difference between clinical depression and someone being in a depressed state because of a traumatic even (grief is a great example of a state that mimics depression while not being a true mental illness).
Your claim that "almost all" mental illnesses are myths is just completely ignorant.
>>578791093 >Just because archaeologists haven't found the evidence yet doesn't mean it isn't there Guess unicorns are fucking real too you dipshit.
I was raised a good portion of my youth LDS. You can believe but don't go spreading "facts" which were pulled out of your ass and calling them true. There is no credible evidence in DNA, archeology, history, peoples or languages to support the BoM as a historical document.
>>578790385 Oh and another thing, you absolutely can call it science and it isn't willy nilly you retard.
If a massive group of people have a set of symptoms (depression) and we link it to a specific chemical imbalance (primarily serotonin) and we create a drug to help deal with the imbalance (SSRIs for example) that acts on specifically that chemical and we see the same type of improvement on a majority of patients that take the drug, that is fucking science.
It has also taken DECADES of rigorous study to make that possible no thanks to faggots like you that continue the stigma of mental illness.
mormonism--and the root churches of has evolved into a very positive thing for the community of christ, the lds and other sects and many members have wonderful, strong and positive family experiences
but joseph smith was a fraud who wrote the book of mormon himself, corrupted traditional scripture with his many 'additions' ( including the belief that people could become angels, etc. ) and ultimately, after his murder, the main movement was hijacked by brigham young
fortunately, the churches believe that their teachings can be 'revised' so they're not so inflexible anymore and can respond to the changing conditions around them
but even most members of the community of christ have accepted the fact that joseph smith's masterwork was his own fabrication, that the first nation tribes are not the descendants of hebrew refugees and that the gold tablets were a ruse--and that quetzacoatl was not a resurrected jesus come to the new world to spread the gospel
all holy works are the efforts of men to make sense of the world; god doesn't write anything and we just have to make do with our religious and scientific efforts to better ourselves and slowly hunch towards greater truth about ourselves and the universe and our place within it
simply calling the mormon experience a 'schill' is petty and vain
they have accomplished much, they have completely influenced christianity worldwide and they are woven into the fabric of american culture and history in a way that no other religious group can match
but no one has a corner on the religious truth market
>>578791543 Actually there is solid proof for all my claims, but Thomas S. Monson is keeping it locked up in the church vaults until the second coming, because if all the proof was given to us then there would be no need for faith which is the whole reason we are put here on earth.
If you read the BoM with and open heart and then pray with real intent, the spirit will testify of its truth to you. You might hear a still small voice or a burning in your bosom, and that is how you know it is true.
>>578789330 You can actually measure the light emitted from an object and observe what chemicals are in the atmosphere. It causes small differences that can be noticed at certain areas. This allows them to tell what is in the atmosphere of a star or planet.
>>578792072 I have read it and went through a whole ordeal. Almost went on a mission. However I can plainly see that there is no such thing as a "one true church". If there was then I wouldn't consider the LDS one to be high on my list of possible candidates.
Just take a look at the Book of Abraham; evidence shows that it isn't anything what Joseph Smith said it to be and now some leaders go "Oh well it was a portal for him to receive revelation, not physically read from it".
Look at reformed Egyptian, not one Egyptologist acknowledges the existence of such a language.
I don't need a man to ask me questions about whether I masturbate or not. I feel God and Christ are real and religion helps some people but when you have men who scare people into following or lie about evidence then it is fucking ridiculous.
How do you know there is evidence in this vault? Did you take a tour? What is the evidence?
>>578792295 The scariest thing about this is there is a lot of pesticide research going into how to transfer it to other species. We've come to a time where we can create a parasite that makes things kills other things.
>>578792505 >Some researches think a Colorado tribe is linked to a lost tribe of Israel >Some speculate some natives related to Jews >Speculate >Mfw native Americans have more links to Asiatic peoples than Jews
Amygdalin contains not only cyanide, but benzaldehyde as well; the two in combination being 100x more deadly than each acting alone, however, they remain locked in the molecule until an enzyme unique to cancer unlocks them at the site, destroying the cancer cell. It's a beautiful proven mechanism. Watch the video and be cancer-free for free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGsSEqsGLWM
>>578793213 That's not scary it is amazing because that would be an incredibly safe pesticide for humans.
I can understand the fear of that type of tinkering affecting us but that isn't how it works. A parasite for an insect could never be modified to infect a large mammal and if someone wanted to try, they'd be an idiot. Much easier to start with a parasite that already kills large mammals.
Would make for a killer sci-fi original horror movie though.
>>578793129 Of course they haven't heard of reformed Egyptian. The language was spoken/written in the americas and died out when the nephites and lamanites had the huge war in about 400 AD.
And no, I haven't taken a tour, but I have seen pictures of the vaults (easily googleable) and my home teacher told us once about how he had a vision about the proof in the vault, so he talked to the bishop the next day who talked to the stake president who talked to the seventy etc., and two days later Gordon B. Hinkley (this was a few years ago) came to his house and brought some of the artifacts with him and showed it to him, and then gave him his second anointing.

"Several authors have published works that suggest that current studies of genetic anthropology using DNA evidence do not provide support for the Book of Mormon. To date there have been no DNA studies which link any Native American group with West Eurasia." One of the more vocal challengers to the DNA vs. The Book of Mormon issue is Dr. Thomas W. Murphy
"We will explore the theory that cancer is a deficiency disease caused by a lack of a certain compound in the human diet" you mean as opposed to carcinogens like radiation or hazmat exposure or just cellular degredation with age.
I'm done. Enjoy your completely unfounded pseudoscience that you probably think "big pharma" is keeping secret from the world.
>>578793980 The idea of using Reformed Egyptian doesn't even make sense compared to other languages the Hebrews could have used. There is no mass graves and cities to support the historical aspect of the BoM. Don't even try to say "Hur dur the Aztec or Mayan cities are really Nephite cities".
As for the vision and all that stuff can't say because whether or not he had a vision I can't say. I don't believe they have anything in this vault though to be brought forth as proof.
>>578794098 Depending on the particular insect there is a parasite and a fungus that do the same thing. That was what I meant by revealing it though, it is forced suicide as much as a misnomer as that is by an invading organism.
>>578794061 The video was produced long before youtube existed. The video contains some important case studies and references. For more in depth coverage on the topic, get ahold of the book: "World Without Cancer".
As Griffin puts it: "The politics behind cancer is more complex than the disease itself"
>>578794982 I feel like you're trying to be sarcastic but that IS EXACTLY what happens when we die. As we are, God once was. As God is, we may one day become.
>>578795246 If a flood were coming, I'd go warn my neighbours. Read the Book of Mormon, pray about it with an open heart, and you will know the truth for yourself. The holy ghost will testify of it to you.
>>578794915 That is a very real concern but an applicable pesticide would be a sterilized version of the parasite.
Unable to reproduce but able to effect. As evil as groups like Mansanto can seem at times, they are anything but dumb. Creating an ecosystem destroying parasite like that is bad for the economy and therefore their business lol.
>>578793980 "Standard language reference works contain no reference to "reformed Egyptian" Standard language references such as Peter T. Daniels and William Bright, eds., The World's Writing Systems (New York: Oxford University Press, 1996) (990 pages);
"No non-Mormon scholars acknowledge the existence of either a "reformed Egyptian" language or a "reformed Egyptian" script as it has been described in Mormon belief. For instance, in 1966, John A. Wilson, professor of Egyptology at the University of Chicago, wrote, "From time to time there are allegations that picture writing has been found in America… In no case has a professional Egyptologist been able to recognize these characters as Egyptian hieroglyphs. From our standpoint there is no such language as 'reformed Egyptian'." John A. Wilson, March 16, 1966, cited in Jerald and Sandra Tanner, The Changing World of Mormonism (Chicago: Moody Press, 1979), ch. 5. Richard A. Parker, department of Egyptology at Brown University, wrote, "No Egyptian writing has been found in this [Western] hemisphere to my knowledge"
Klaus Baer, another Egyptologist at the University of Chicago, called the characters of the "Caractors" document nothing but "doodlings" Jerald & Sandra Tanner, Changing World of Mormonism, Moody Press, 1980, p. 143.
Anthropologist Michael D. Coe of Yale University, an expert in pre-Columbian Mesoamerican studies, has written, "Of all the peoples of the pre-Columbian New World, only the ancient Maya had a complete script." Michael D. Coe, Breaking the Maya Code, (London: Thames and Hudson, 1999, preface.
>>578796790 Right there proves to me that it is bullshit. No am not gay and the leaders have been mislead before. A conman had sold the leadership artifacts that they deemed were true only to have them come up as false later on. Hur good ones guise.
You are either a fucktard or a troll. Evidence points towards troll, 6/10 had me going
>>578796517 Joseph didn't write it in a few weeks. First, translation of the BOM did not take place in less than three months; it spanned a time period of over a year and Joseph may have been working on the text for years" Church History in the Fulness of Times Student Manual (2003, p52-66) http://www.lds.org/manual/church-history-in-the-fulness-of-times-student-manual/chapter-five-coming-forth-of-the-book-of-mormon-and-restoration-of-the-priesthood?lang=eng
>>578798210 You might not know how the LDS church works, but our bishops literally have the ability to use the power of God. This is called the priesthood, and part of that for Bishops is the power to know what questions to ask those they are interviewing (in addition to the basic questions, obviously), and also to know when the person is lying.
The LDS church is the only church with the priesthood, and everyone who has it can literally trace their line back to God himself, including me.
>>578798698 The only reason it took so long was because of the book of Lehi which got stolen and the long repentance process, etc., that Joseph Smith had to go through afterwards. If you don't count that, then it only took a few weeks.
>>578799223 >Only church with the priesthood Yet is one of the youngest ones, one of many to say they have this priesthood, and lacks any evidence of this claim. >Bishops have ability to use power of God Yet some bishops have been caught ins scandals or not being able to fill the required duties.
>>578800023 Yes, it completely fills the gaps. And even if he spent a year translating it, big whoop. It's still a book that could not possibly have been written by a farm boy with no education and no extensive knowledge of ancient history, archaeology, geography, etc.
>>578801443 I didn't say he was illiterate, I just said he wasn't educated. There is a big difference between being able to read and write, and being able to create something like the Book of Mormon.
Writing the Book of Mormon would take a biblical scholar a decade or more to do, would take thousands of hours of research, and would end up with plenty of mistakes in it. The Book of Mormon was completed in a few weeks (even a year like someone claimed is still impossibly short) with no research by someone who was not a scholar of any kind. And it has literally no mistakes that have been found in almost 200 years of plenty of people searching for them.
>>578801359 >I'm not trolling, all of this stuff is easily verifiable with two seconds of googling. In other words opinions with NO REAL EVIDENCE BACKING.
This is the issue, The Book of Mormon has no physical evidence to back it up as a historically correct book. Reformed Egyptian does not exist or is not validated by any Egyptologist. Can you believe it? Sure we have and respect freedom of religion but from a historical standpoint is this book true? As of this time no it is not due to lack of evidence to support it and the errors within the book itself as well as going through numerous edits.
>>578802071 I'm not claiming that google has definitive proof for all of this; that was just a response to the people who were claiming 'durr, you said that your priesthood can be traced back to God, you must be trolling.'
The proof is in the prayer. Anyone, literally anyone, who will read the Book of Mormon and pray about it with real intent and an open heart, will have the best possible proof given to them: the testimony of the Holy Ghost.
>>578802340 Sure, they've fixed slight grammatical errors that came from typesetting, etc., but they actually got ahold of the original handwritten copy a few years ago from one of the breakoff sects of the LDS church, and changed the entire thing to match that exactly.
The only changes that have EVER been made were unintentional small errors in printing, and correcting those errors
>>578802597 Then why do people who pray about Islam, Catholicism, Protestantism, Baptist, LDS, Community of Christ, etc. Feel they have found the right one? Why do some people read the BoM and not feel anything? Why do some leave the LDS faith and join another faith due to the same thing you just described?
>>578802871 They don't. The other religions might make them feel good, but once you have had the holy ghost testify to you (which it would only do for the truth, which is the LDS church), then you know that all those other feelings you had weren't the spirit.
And very few people leave the LDS church. The only people who leave are people who get offended or want do sin.
>>578801039 You might have better luck trying to convert people in a dangerous area surrounded by minorities? You don't have the intellectual prowess to convert anyone who isn't mentally deficient. Please go be a fag somewhere else, you're the only person here who thinks you're right for a reason.
>>578803124 They are saying the same thing towards your religion. So dumb to say "Not the spirit it is wrong you are wrong." The church has a large amount of inactive people and bullshit to people who leave because they want to sin or are offended. People leave because of problems with depression, suicide, or to them do not believe it anymore. Do they sin? Many live not drinking, smoking or fooling around.
>>578804047 No you don't. I use to be a mormon. Its all bullshit. Joseph Smith was a massive con. He was a treasure hunter. Not a prophet. If the bishiop knew answers to my his question then why would he purposfully ruin the sanctity of a temple after i fucked his wife? Because he didnt know. Either that or your god must really hate him.
