ITT: #1 Starship of all sci-fi.
>Time Machines don't count
My personal favorite was this incarnation of enterprise. "E"
As far as physical design I must admit I'm a firefly faggot.
>inb4 it's specs suck (i know they do)
That's almost as gay as Babylon 5.
Even this star trek nigger knife was better.
You sir are a fedora wearing liar. Defend yourself
Destiny friom SGU was over 50 million years old...
You know nething Yohn Sneow. My name is Eli Wallace. I was there man. I was there...
:) someone who agrees with me and brought a better pic. Welcome new friend :)
Millenium Falcon is one of the fastest ships in the galaxy. Plus it just has style.
I'm not going to sit here and argue about make believe stats of make believe ships with autist neckbeards.
The millennium falcon is just cool.
Yet it runs from deathstars... a ship brought down by a tiny fighter...
Cant fuk with the Death Star.
no EV Nova? Tell me they didn't fucking look cool
even the pussy civilian ones
>Can reduce mass to under a kilogram and
>More firepower than the Daedalus and DS9 combined, and can re-arm using raw materials like an asteroid belt.
>Drop-dead gorgeous ship AI
>Unlimited supply of safety glasses
>Dylan Cunt at the helm.
Best fucking ship. No questions asked.
Great show too.
looks like a decommissioned battle ship.
I've actually never seen Andromeda. Anyone know if it's on a streaming site atm. I'm subscribed to a bunch.
>The pegasus... this was an illegal starfleet project that could cloak and go out of phase allowing weapons fire to pass right through it and even travel through solid matter. Learn to Nex Gen /b/
Talon was pretty groovy and Moya had some heart...
The Millennium Falcon killed the 2nd deathstar idiot... And it took part in the attack that killed the 1st Death Star. It is what got Darth Vader off Luke's ass and allowed him to take the killing shot.
It was directly involved in the destruction of both Death Stars, retard...
Death Star 1
Death Star 2
Yeah, well i really liked star trek. It really was the best sci-fi on tv.
Also didn't the romulans have something similar that malfunctioned? In that episode where geordie and the ajoran woman where phase shifted and had to figure out a way back?
Was it Ensign Roe? Everyone thought they were dead right?
Oh damn Stargate has arrived :)
welcome.... Those Asgard upgrades were the shit...
With the EM thrusters working as Impulse drives and the H. "Sonny" White warp drive AND Lockheed Martin's 100 megaWatt micro-fusion reactor all coming on line with in 5 - 10 years, Shit is about to get real.
Yeah that's the episode.
Also my pic the d'deridex class warbird. They never really did do it justice in the show for how much firepower it was supposed to posses.
Idk that ship brought back hell from another dimension if I remember right... Been years since I saw the movie.
man now i want to play eve again
also i like the solid designs from sc2
but i think stargate universe wins
Heart of Gold because it can go anywhere in the universe instantly by going from wherever it is to everywhere at once, then from everywhere at once to wherever you want to go. That's like Warp 10 on the new Star Trek warp speed scale, only you don't evolve into alligators.
I didn't really like DS9 but the Defiant was a mean little ship. I liked how they based its lore off of drag racing problems. (So much power off the line it bends the frame.) and how they had to fix it.
Homeworld 2 battlecruisers or destroyers.
The graphics on the show were so terrible I honestly never got through episode 1. People have been telling me to watch it for years saying the plot was good. What do you think?
>no Discovery 1
>sci-fi without 2001
I know this wasn't their greatest achievement either but I really did like the styling on the ship. Felt like it was a muscle car....
For being 20 years old I think it stands out alright, especially considering their budget. The acting can be lame now that I watch it today, but the story was awesome. Season 1 was probably the worst as far as graphics and story.
I can't promise it will be soon but I've been meaning to give it a second shot.
borg collective assimilation cube
stargate replicator mother-ship
IF: they were the same size/mass
who and why
The TC Rebel Titan is seriously badass.
Although if we're allowing ships that never made it to TV/movies, an Utu class planetoid wins. Think a Death Star designed to fight other Death Stars, and survive getting hit by one.
T'pol was the hottest thing ever on star trek. Even deana comes 2nd am I right? 7 of 9 coming in 3rd...
Its guns are bigger than most of the ships on that chart.
If you want stupidly powerful Warships that make most other sci fi warships look like they were made with Paper Mache, look to Warhammer 40k.
sin of the solar empire rebellion, is a great game for this thread
I'm surprised we haven't heard anything about that all black enterprise from the recent movie that khan helped build. I can't remember the name of it lol. Perhaps that's the problem...
Oh shit some ezri dax.... I can't argue with that. I always liked that mean pretty thing ensign ro had going on.
>Kes was hot also but turned into a train wreck. One sec let me find a photo.
It was so dumb though. It didn't make sense in so many ways. They talk about how they designed a ship to have minimal crew, but then why was it so freaking huge? It would have made much more sense to make a whole fleed or squadron or w/e of smaller pocket battleships with the same firepower but not so much useless wasted space.
The Ragnarov. One entire ship dedicated to a gigantic armor piercing magnetic accelrator gun. Awwww yeah long live the TEC Rebel
Thats what the Defiant class was all about. Minimal crew yet the firepower of a much larger ship. Built purely for combat unlike the Enterprise which was all about long term deep space missions and exploration.
Another great ship: The arcadia from space pirate captain harlock.
They jumped the shark with T'pol. It was 7 of 9 all over again. They could of had a normal looking woman play the role. It would have leaded more creditability to the show. She did seem to settle into the part 2nd season.
Right, but the giant ship in the new trek movie just doesn't make sense. It's supposed to be a purpose built warship, and yet it's just an upscaled exploration ship. Hell if it was either properly manned, or smaller kirk and khan wouldn't have been able to sneak aboard.
T'Pol was so hot I'm sorry. I wouldn't have had it any other way. I actually put on enterprise to admire her after I brought her up.
seriously, wtf happened?
Unless maybe this pic explains it.
Hell yeah it does.... :)
Comedy is as valid a criteria as any...
Holy Hannah! (quoting Jacob Carter on stargate)
>You may be onto something...
Let this be a warning to you all. Kes today.
But can we all agree that except for the new Battlestar Galactica, the 90 was the last great decade for scifi ship design?
Lets fucking face it. Everything was better in the 90's
"Accurate pictorial representation of historical events."
How many of you fagets are smart enough to build a spaceship out of parts at a junkyard?
Idk I'm split. I like aesthetics from both the 90s and post 90s. Serenity wasn't much of a ship but she embodied a beautiful dream with great lines. (and Summer Glau with Jewel Staite!) Were talking Terminator and Stargate in one Sci-fi!)
"IDC I'm still free. You can't take the sky from meeee!!!!"
Still the one I want a ride in. No human wymmins allowed on crew.
are you fucking retarded?
He signed the affordable housing act into law.
Giving loans to huge houses people couldn't afford... blah blah blah, cant pay back, sell for pennies on the dollar, crash, we get fucked. Thanks to a shitty president. Oh, lets remember about the Somalia incident.
I mean... He used to bullseye womp rats in his T16 back home. Am I right?
Any Retribution-class battleship.
or anything from warhammer 40k really
Bush deregulated the banks like a motherfucker so the could trade shit housing loans.
So who's to blame the guy that made the gun or the guy that loaded it.
Or the fucking rich motherfuckers that pulled the trigger?
I vote #3
I blame the teacher on board. I mean only those that can't do teach right?
>Unrelated Pic commentary
>"Enlist they said... There will be bitches they said..."
I must confirm my motivation behind that rule was excluding Doctor Who faggots... Now get the fuck back to tumblr!
Its a flying city that survived constant bombardment for 100's of years, no contest
I loved the Defiant, but I'm still pissed that when it got destroyed, they just re-named another ship of the same class. Wasn't it just a fucking prototype?
TARDIS (you can't inb4 a time machine)
Will someone fuck this /pol/ retard off? Get with the thread and stop whining. You have a board for that sort of shit.
Hmm... obviously you don't know facts...
>businessweek... not fox
just so you know, cnn, msnbc, cbs are all blatantly biased, its even on goddamn wikipedia
i don't watch fox. I just read whats been signed into law.
Is bad ass I agree. 100's of years is clearly an incorrect figure however. I'll just assume it was a typo.
Don't you have to check your blog or whatever it is you faggots do?
Wasn't it the "Valiant" manned by cadets or some shit? There may have been another. Been a while since I watched it.
>I just read whats been signed into law.
No you don't, you don't read shit, you can barely form your own opinion.
You bend time and space to make your view of the world work, even if I was to present to you data about the economy, statistics about income inequality, and foreseeable problems with banking deregulation, none of that would matter in your world because you're the type that refuses to consider other sides or opinions while shoving your shit down everyone elses throat.
NOW KINDLY FUCK OFF TO /POL/ YOU ATTENTION SEEKING FAGGOT!
>Fuck Canada. I could give a shit about mexico either.
It benefits the fat corporate cats. Why? because they move their manufacturing plants there. Cheap as shit. Costs us jobs, now we have even more Mexican niggers coming over here.
Sure I can. I'm OP and I'm a faggot. I can do whatever I want. kek
ALL of you /pol faggots. GET THE FUCK OUT!!
EXTERMINATE THE TOGGAF
EXTERMINATE THE TOGGAF
Um... Last time i checked, income inequality and the economy have nothing to do with giving people houses and crashing the market.
>What is fannie mae and freddie mac
>Nice false cause faggot
We are all /pol fags now a days. Too small of a world.
WTF do politicians have to do with space travel... Every president since Kennedy has cut NASA's budget.
>GTFO of here with your politicians. They don't contribute to this thread!
Ok, THATS IT. /thread. DO not feed Repub trolls. Leave him to his school shootings and oil wars and fantasy world where there is no science if they don't like it. Its worse than arguing with women. We are out.
>First decent thread on /b/ in like six months
>Turns into a /pol/ assblasted shitpost fest
>Oh shit guys we wrote this invincible super omega space station that is totally indestuctable
>Fuck, we gave it to the bad guys
>It's okay boys just stick a whole on it and call it a cooling vent that leads right to the core and make it totally blow up instantly from one shot
Only if sizzler has a buffet (oh god please tell me they have a buffet lmao)
This thread has been sent to the hell where starship post are turned into /pol trolling
I'm sorry, what are you faggots talking about?
>Not knowing what a Classical liberal is
>Not realizing what the word liberal means
>Not realizing that "liberal" democrats are actually social welfare warriors
(pretty probably invalid) S.S. Heart of Gold, because why not?
Let's get back to basics /b/
>What was the first starship/series you fell in love with. No criticism. Which one intersected that perfect happy place on the time line of your life? If you've had a crappy life. Which series made you feel better and dream again?
Not all. The regeneration station is still working for Jeri.
>Not realising you are talking to a life-long Republican, not some Tea Party fuckwit.
Get out of my party you ignorant, cock gargling pleb.
Plus the shield was strong enough to take the full force of a solar flare while spreading the shield to cover 2/3 of a planet I think it can handle the satellite for hundreds of years and only be a mild annoyance that one day they would swat away.
haha, good guees. no i'm not. Though to be fair we have most of the same horible artery cloging food you have. Not sizzlers though, not yet. I don't think. Seriously though, only america could find a way to make salad fattening.
>What was the first starship/series you fell in love with
The Pillar of Autumn from the first Halo game. It was my first video game and the first thing that got me into gaming, sci-fi, etc. I thought and still think it was cool as hell to run through it and then revisit it after it got all fucked up.
Unrelated but I have a bizarre buffet story. (Years ago the ceo of our company took us to golden corral. This is a fortune 500 company and everyone had the same wtf reaction when we all showed up there. His wife brought ziploc bags and was stuffing her purse. He seemed to not give a fuck but the restaurant workers and his employees maintained a wtf face the whole time)
>I fell in love with the short range ship spike had on Cowboy Bebop. It was a nice design.
this should get the thread back to shiny. :)
I tend not to eat fast food.
But the sizzler "salad bar" is more like a buffet.
It has just as many fried things as it does ignored raw vegetables.
Seriously, if you're ever in one of those things. It's like they herded in a bunch of walmart cattle- err shoppers, into a trough line and watched them just pile on the unhealthiest food possible. Just so they can waddle back to their tables and start shoving it into their mouths.
I seriously could not eat there again after witnessing it.
And I was only 9 at the time.
I won't say that it isn't damn cool because it is. That ship is phallic as hell though :)
When you need to relocate the human you need Sidonia.
I hope you aren't serious. Imperial II is not even designed for warfare. Kindly gtfo with your horrible horrible taste in spacecraft.
Best spacecraft in Star Wars is A-wing for fighters, and either Nebulon B-2 or Mon Calamari Cruiser for capitals. Nebulon B-2 is personal favorite. Efficient for the cost.
Too lazy to right click and google but ok with doing more work by typing this question and asking. Is that from that netflix series sidonia? If so. How is that?
Sometimes i am glad i don't live in the states. I have never had to witness such atrocities, at leat not in person.
My only experience with that is mostly from here, laughing sat pictures f those cattle-people. Not to say we don't have an abundance of landwhales here north of the border, but we don't have a culture that promotes it.
Born in 84... I totally missed that one. Looks like it would have appealed to kid me. Kinda wish I could go back and see it.
Not my pic for best ship. But I do LOVE the show!
Can believe we haven't got and ISD-II love here yet.
I'm just happy no one has said "Lexx". I'd like to thank all you anons for being so cool. That show was the true cause of all cancer.
i guess they had to make her less innocent looking and more of a take charge ellen ripley character
R.O.U. Killing Time.
I know all the stargate lore. Hit me with your best shot. It's my favorite sci-fi. Enterprise E is just my favorite ship. :) I'm guessing we're talking about the replicator home world?
No but if the Asurans COULD have pumped any more power through that satellite they would of when they had the chance, so its a safe bet that what we saw was the max power of what they could do and with only one drained ZPM Atlantis held it back so with unlimited or a full set of ZPM's they could either wait it out or fly off instantly.
when ever I see these I look for 4 ships.
I found all 4, in addition it had both versions of the Yamato.
OP you have pleased me.
ISD II is bad and you should feel bad. Giant, expensive triangle composed mostly of technical flaws made by underpaid and untalented engineers. Not designed for combat or any practical purpose other than intimidation. It's the spaceship equivalent of those stupid knives with 1,000,000 serrations to make them scary.
Oh fair enough fair enough. It's a nifty-looking ship, but I wish people would stop pretending it's an ultimate combat weapon. They have huge blind spots (their entire back arc) and are slower than hell. Anything even moderately maneuverable will cut it to pieces, assuming they can deal with the fighter escort.
Going with Galactica: FTL, armor out the ass, nukes, vipers & dat crew
Played the shit out of this! 5 years of play! Titian all the way!
I'm a stargate, star trek, farscape, and firefly sort. Is there any great sci-fi series I've missed? I might have seen it. Just hungry for some new space travel. Sci-fi is shit lately. (The 100, That shit with noah wylie, defiance.... I mean what is this garbage?)
No love for the Infinity?
Not #1, but any love for this ol shitter? Shitty, but still, mankinds first venture into intergalactic space, albeit mostly using other technologies.
Is it good as an adult? I mean I rewatched Galaxy 999. (terrible I know). Just seemed like it was Fist of the northstar in space. You tell me it's good and I'll check it out.
It's designed like a water warship.
Most spacecraft in fiction are, frankly. Because getting outside of the 2D plane where what we know as "ships" can travel is still really fucking hard.
Of course they aren't slow at all. They could turn on a dime very quickly, easily. The problem is that the shear force on that archetechture is going to rip the ship to pieces.
The spherical death star was a way, way more manuevable and durable design for space.
Yeah but original battlestar was just awful... New battlestar was pretty good. Did you see the syfy movie Blood and Chrome? It was set with Adama as a rookie. That is hands down the most bad ass thing in battlestar history. Great fucking movie.
I'll take this streamlined "retro" stuff over modern starships with doodads all over it. That even has a name in the modeling props industry but I can't recall it.
One of the good things about A Phantom Menace was retro was the guiding principle of Naboo technology, their ships and pew pew handhelds.
What did /b/ think of the last two seasons of stargate SG-1. I liked them a lot. Interesting fact Ben Browder was their first choice for Atlantis but had to do the farscape movie. RDA was considered for the role of benjamin sisko on ds9. Crazy right. What might have been.
I liked it as Stargate but it just seemed a bit 'off' for some reason. Imo it could have ended extremely well after the last Ba'al clone was dealt with and the system lords were all destroyed
Alright. I'll start up a new one when this one 404's. The mods tend to kill two threads of the same type I've noticed so we'll have to wait. I'm still enjoying the discussion either way. They'll probably prune us pretty soon either way.
