Christian cringe thread
How long can you hold out?
let's start it off slow then.
I really wonder how is America going to deal with this going forward. Like... suppose the global conditions get worse (as they are likely to) and the internal strife produces some sort of a large religious movement and these people actually start having serious demands basically concerning the dismantling of science education and research (to the horror of the remaining 60 % or so).
>Be young kid between 8-10 years old. Can't remember.
>See that picture on magazine in the store.
>Ask mom: "Is that Oprah?"
>Mom tells me not to say another word until we are in the car.
"this is Darwins thinking from 100 years ago"
Apparently that's unacceptable but making a book that is thousands of years old and could have been written by an ancient crack fiend is suddenly 5legit7quit?
These people who refuse to understand evolution are what holds back real progress in the human race.
Darwin never once said that we evolved FROM apes. The theory of evolution clearly states that we share the same common ancestor as apes. We evolved on two different branches of the same tree.
fucking ignorant bible thumpers. Willingly being ignorant fucking enrages me.
Only thing to be kind of proud of in this country.
Yeah. It's mainly the "non of the above" mushy agnosticism category, but still.
However, it's not making a dent into the hard core of souther Baptist nutjobs et al., meaning it's actually resulting in more polarization. These crazies are not going anywhere anytime soon, and the more beleaguered they'll feel, the more desperate and radical will they likely become.
Evolution is just a theory, and it hasn't been proven. What has been "proven" is a test of the theory applied to a shorter time-span and the results somewhat supported it. Still it doesn't prove the fact of it ever happening in the world that exist outside of human interference.
If you do not understand this, you are not nearly as smart as you would love to give yourself credit for.
P.s I'm not a believer of anything.
>mfw the dumb cunt says dragons are real
>Not understanding neither of those are actual things
>not understanding that they were simply made up, by a scientist, as a teaching aid to help differentiate between different evolutionary effects.
>not realising that it was the christianfags that then stole and perverted the words into red herring concepts that fitted in with their cosy delusions
>MFW christianfags too dumb to invent their own delusions. pic related
Hypothesis = untested idea
Theory = generally accepted idea through testing, which enables you to make good predictions for certain phenomena (comes forth out of hypothesis)
Theory:a coherent group of tested general propositions, commonly regarded as correct, that can be used as principles of explanation and prediction for a class of phenomena:
Why? Is there a test?
>generally accepted through testing
>skipped "based on testing"
Pic related, unsure if
I was a born and raised Christian and I choose to have faith that there's something better when I die. That being said, I know how irrational that is by today's standards, but in all honest, I'm just really scared that there IS an afterlife.
you and tards like you need to understand one very simple fact:
NOTHING in science except math can ever be PROVEN. A "theory" is the best possible title an idea in science can get. It's better than a "law".
so in science, gravity isn't proven either, however we are as sure of the existance of gravity as we are of that of evolution. People refusing to believe evolution are just idiots with fingers in their ears screaming "LALALA", suspending their critical thinking skills whenever it might conflict with bronze age people believed.
I only lasted 2:12 of OP's video without rage btw...
Valhalla awaits, die a warriors death anon
Anons, I want to thank you. You've saved me the trouble of looking for examples of why these days, I'm more likely to openly admit to being sexually attracted to traps than to openly admit to having religious beliefs.
Thanks to people like this, I'm more closeted than a black fag in Alabama.
>eukaryotes don't make sense
>single cells don't make sense
>evolution doesn't make sense
>dinosaurs are real
>story about bearded man having a half an hour conversation with a bush that is on fire? Makes perfect sense
>how dare they act like dweebs and love Jesus at the same time
>must be brainwashing
I consider myself independently Christian and the lady in OP's video drives me up the fucking wall. You, sir, sound like you took Jesus being inside of you the wrong way. It isn't he that caused your butthurt.
I get your point. The reason I choose Christianity is because that's what I was raised by and sometimes I just feel like it's the right way to go. But my doubts are still strong. Does that make me an idiot?
This is the 'afterlife' anon.
You live it, over and over and over....
The greatest lie religion ever told was that eternity is separate from life. There is no afterlife. There is only life.
You are 'here' anon. You exist in this moment of space-time. No-one nor nothing, no force in the entire universe, can change that.
If you are here, you are here for eternity. You exist anon, therefore, you can never not exist.
Don't believe anything else anon, because everything else is false.
Now get out there and have fun.
>She probably clap after the video
So fucking true.
I just... I couldn't fucking do it, the amount of autism in that video almost killed me
No, not for him. Neithe Odin or Thor would let a Christian born into Valhalla, nor would they let insomeone who is afraid of death in such a way.
Die well in battle and you might have a chance.
The usual seems to be any statement like, "But how comes there's still monkey if we came from the monkeys!?"
Stand on the shoulders of giants. I'm happy this lady never will.
3:54 motherfuckers. Not like I was so tough, I just thought she was going to go into her own explanation for this and was waiting. Then it became clear that she was likely a high school educated, not-quite-7-11-material-but-we-sure-appreciate-you-stopping-by moron.
Chimps aren't monkeys either...
>many extinct apes
All of these are apes. There is an ancestral ape that separated into different genus, we're all related to this one ape. That's all that we are really related with. Chimpanzees and humans share a similiar ancestor that grouped into chimpanzees, bonobos and humans. That's why we're so close to chimpanzees and banobos.
So yes, you're correct. I misinterpreted your argument thinking that you said we weren't apes even though we were. I'm confused on what's be argued, I think.
I actually agree here; personally I'd say that I like the concept of evolution and would take it as the most likely/pretty much 99.999999999% accurate reality, but it IS still currently merely a theory...
Granted, the reason it's still a theory being that they haven't exactly explained everything 100% yet, or found all the missing pieces.
Doesn't work that way. Kids are people too and if they want to have religion in their lives, let the people closest to them use whatever means they have at their disposal to teach them about whatever they swing toward. Look around you, specialization is the norm. Treating the search for truth like an ADHD fat kid at a buffet buffet instead of digging until you find it wherever you are isn't always productive. After all, how difficult must it be to teach a retard about this stuff, let alone articulate in an understandable way that each of the world's religious branches are themselves littered with subdivisions of differing degrees of corroboration or support and which are further filtered through cultural zeitgeists and epochal limitations... and that most everyone has a fluid opinion of their validity anyway. I know you aren't suggesting retards shouldn't be religious.
Kids learn other religions and the lack thereof, but you call out Sunday school. Even if there's nothing to religion, at best it's teaching a functional framework of morality (Christians like the Phelps are an anomaly, btw) and it's no worse than teaching someone then-current scientific or philosophic principles in a time and place in which the sciences are ill-developed.
Sounds like you just see religion as somehow separate from the rest of human experience, when it, in fact, is intrinsic to it. There's a flaw in wanting to quarantine children from an aspect of life as important as this. It's not like scientists or philosophers haven't ever tried to fill in the blanks and answer the important, unanswerable questions like "Why are we here?" in some way that bypasses religion filters in school.
>inb4 religion isn't a record of witnessed events
That's the only thing here that's legitimately up for debate and only because language happens to be the best way to record such a dense compilation of information in the time before today's standards of preservation.
Jesus loves you.
Dude all the guy said was that he doesn't like sunday school. Fuck.
Only thing kids between the age of 3-7 want is a fuckton of candy and playplay time. Their heads are full of
>lol wuts a jeesur gheist
>gheistianity is that ghosts n stuff
>who is the whole heartidly spiwit
Religion itself should evolve. Majority (yes not all of you) stop being stuck in a century old system.
>i'm on my phone
>heres a picture of my car for your long ass post
made it 42 Seconds OP
Ya know what that was outta line. It's a rare thing to have civilized discourse and reasonable discussion in this cesspool and I respect you for it. Let's bury the hatchet. I'll start then you join in...
Potato chip potato chip!
Someone needs to smoke check these fuckers
I forgot how the rest goes and I'd kill myself before I watch that again.
Gathering knowledge on the loominatee, actually.
I'm sorry, I can't do that, 9nlfnei4.
