>>582838052 Generally Cigarette boats, sometimes another brand called Apache.
Usual route for the boats was to just be a pickup from outside the cut. A helicopter would come in, drop the drugs, and then a the drugs would be run into cuts. Often multiple were used, some were dummies.
>>582838208 I got paid well, but, not insane. I actually don't remember the rate. I got lots of bonuses too (bag o' cash).
>>582838528 Yeah, I worked in Miami. There are warehouse districts that were good for working on boats. Now they are really expensive condos.
>>582838604 Haulover was by far the most popular. It's in North Miami. There was a dock right there to unload. Later the FBI had a stakeout place in a condo building that later was torn down (old age).
>>582839860 >How much was a typical boat cargo worth? It really depended. And it was pure cocaine, they'd cut it after it hit the shore (well, some 'blue label' did get out that was pure cocaine, sold at a higher price). Easily over 5 million dollars per boat though. Lots of times they'd talk about it, but you didn't know if it was exaggerations or not. It was serious money though.
>Do you know what they didnt run any psychedelics? Cocaine was the highest demand for the times and Miami is a good location to bring it into the country from South America. Psychedelics I honestly don't know how those came about..
>I take it you got in trouble somehow? I did once, I was making fiberglass silencers. I didn't go to jail.
>>582840381 is that five million street prices or the price it sold for at the dock? you know how the feds do all the idiotic math to blow up values.
Do you think it would be too unreasonable for a smuggler to purchase psychedelics in international waters? I dont know if you have heard of William Pickard, but he made rather amazing amounts of LSD until he was busted. AFAIK the current supply of LSD is pretty low, mostly replaced by other, worse analogues. The nice thing about it compared to other drugs is the extremely low doses, making transport so easy.
Would it be impossible to find someone to sell to?
>>582841080 We were making fiberglass silencers. These cheap silencers that only worked like 3 times before they were blown out. Building got raided, I was brought in for questioning.
>>582841123 > is that five million street prices or the price it sold for at the dock? you know how the feds do all the idiotic math to blow up values. Wholesale... be more on the street, much more. Yeah, the total values of shipments I never knew.. I always got it third hand so can't confirm. A lot though.
> Do you think it would be too unreasonable for a smuggler to purchase psychedelics in international waters? I'm really not sure about that. I've never heard of it, but, that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Especially today I'm way out of it... things are probably different now.
>>582841390 No, but I know enforcers. People who collected money. Hit men were normally from the crime families in Chicago or New York.
>>582841618 I was 16. It was in the 80s. I'm the oldest man on /b/ ... a younger guy I work with said I should come on here.
>>582841843 I was working in the auto shop in North Miami High School ... I was pretty handy, so someone asked me if I'd like to work at a boat shop. I said yes.
>>582842595 Nah, haha. I love Chicago though. I always say a guy from New York will say he's going to kick your ass, a guy from Chicago will just kick your ass.
>>582842697 >How difficult would it be to at least get in contact with medium-high level leadership? Are they totally secluded? Yeah, pretty secluded unless you knew them socially.
>How did you get to working on boat engines? Just working on cars? The big block boat engines were marinized big block Chevy's...so if you could work on a standard car engine, you could work on a boat. It stayed that way for a while. Of course there was a learning curve with the headers, driveshafts, and other components.
>>582842846 Well for me it was pretty low risk since I was just a mechanic. But, I'd say a lot of smugglers got away with it and are now super wealthy, so yeah.
>>582842948 Probably this guy that was a pilot. He used to fly down to Columbia to get cocaine, but also had a cocaine problem himself. He was also eating lots of rich food, so always had that "gaught" (not sure how to spell it). Flying he was shot at by the Cuban government and crash landed, barely making it, to the keys. He stole a car and loaded the coke into it and, despite losing the plane, lost none of the drugs.
>>582843192 In my day it was like 25-30,000 USD. Now I have no idea.. more though. Now that 25-30k was wholesale, once it was cut it would be worth a whole lot more.
>>582843969 >Thats an amazing story. Did he get caught? Nope! He abandoned the plane, it was in a marsh in the middle of no where and no one must have seen. It was a 'controlled' crash.
He eventually did go to prison, but for something different. He served 15 years, I think because he refused to rat on his boss. If he would have ratted, they would have killed him in prison though. He stills lives in Miami, he's clean now, has two kids.
>BTW its gout. >Great thread thanks for it Thanks, no problem!
>>582844281 >Were you ever shot at? Only by some niggers, never over drugs though. I was just working as a mechanic/shop guy, so, wasn't really at risk for being caught up in that violence.
>Or was it mostly like a pretty sweet job with nice pay for you? Yeah, it was good. I mean, day to day it was pretty normal work.
>>582844515 > awesome thread how much did you make in an hour? how long did you work there? I worked there from when I was ~15 until 19, when I got into college. That's when I stopped. I didn't want to make it a career, was mostly just because I was broke and needed to save money. Actually not sure what it worked out per hour, because I'd be given a bag of cash around the holidays and such. Officially I made minimum wage. They couldn't really have me making much "officially" because then they'd have to explain where that money came from, so, everything was kinda "here is a bag of cash" I made enough over the 4 years to help pay for my college and living expenses when I went, so, that was huge.
>>582846107 Glad you like it! I don't get to share this stuff with many people. Not for legal reasons, but rather it sorta makes me look like a bad guy... so, this is actually nice to revisit.
>>582846212 >Whats the hot spot in key west or the other keys? Hot spot? Like for drug running? Today I'm not sure, I think drugs are brought in much differently then when I was around, although I still see some suspicious boats as I've got an eye for it.
Sometimes the keys were used, but ideally you wanted a higher traffic area. North Miami was by far the most popular that I knew of. Check out Haulover cut in North Miami... it's between the bridges at 162nd and 123rd.
>>582846689 No, I kept it pretty quiet. I was an anxious, paranoid, nervous kid. I just said I worked at a boat shop, which was true. No one really asked beyond that.
>>582846992 For 36 grams? Makes sense, a lot of that is inflation. Still must be extremely profitable.
>>582851408 Yes. Heroin was, well, amazing.. but, for me it mostly just turned the voices off in my head. I was a little too cool on it, and, that drove me away. Ketamine I had these amazing experiences floating above my body.. was very introspective.
>>582851564 Yeah, lots of people like heroin. Some it knocks out, but, if it doesn't knock you out it can be a really nice drug. Obviously dangerous, but, you know that.
>>582851598 I carried a Smith & Wesson .45ACP revolver. Now I carry an H&K USP Compact Tactical .45ACP.
>>582852295 Benzos some people find recreational, I think most people just self-medicate with them though (that's what I was doing). If you feel anxiety, it'll take that all away. I get nervous in social situations, so, they became my buddy.
If you take too much you'll probably just pass out, depends on your tolerance. There is some cross tolerance with alcohol also, so, careful with that.
How I got introduced to them was people used them after cocaine to even themselves out.
>>582852721 Yeah, hah. Well part of the thing was around salt water a lot of semi-automatics were a problem, even if you were good about cleaning them (which, I probably wasn't), so you wanted a wheel gun. Now the semi-autos are much better than they were. The H&K is mostly plastic and it's gotten wet plenty and never had any problems.
>>582853487 Yeah. I was a little different though since I was always hopping in and out of boats... so the elements were more of a problem.
Custom guns were really popular with the actual smugglers. Like fancy 1911's..
Later the most popular gun was called an Intra-Tec 9 (not sure on spelling). They were cheap and kinda shitty, but people liked them because they could be modified into an automatic easily. I was gone by that time though.
>>582853834 I have watched that. It's actually got some pretty good information. It's a little isolated from the big picture for them to make the story fit in however long though.
>>582854198 Nah, I was just a kid working at a boat shop. I didn't even have a girlfriend at the time.
I want to truck cigarettes from my home state (VA) to NY. If you were in my shoes how the fuck would you go about finding a buyer for a truckload of ciggies in NY without someone cutting off your balls or turning you over to the cops?
>>582855976 Doing what? A lot of people that got started in it met in prison or were family. Depends on the time. Like earlier in the marijuana days it was families and such, mom and pop type.
As far as working for them doing something non related to drugs (like a mechanic), it's like any other job. They normally get broke kids like me too that have no family, I noticed. Needing the money, and to some extent, having a place and purpose.
