Is Elfen Lied worth watching?
I used to be into anime when i was younger, but its so fucking slowpaced to the point where i just stopped watching most of the shows ive been watching for 600 episodes.
This is how the average anime goes: Meet the main enemy, have a 5 minute stareoff, finally start fighting, then they stop to have a 5 minute conversation, fight some more, then a 5 minute stareoff with music playing in the background until the episode ends
I think thats the advantage of comics and normal cartoons, they dont try to fit 1 tiny chapter into a 20-30 minute episode.
I thought Big O had a good plot but seemed like it was in too much of a hurry to finish the story
I just recently watched it. I must admit I was a little turned off by it when it first came out (since anime and it seemed too 'mainstream'). But it really was well done (especially the remake).
Fucking love Berserk. Shame the anime was so short lived.
They could probably have fleshed out a bit more on the background of those big robots and stuff.
Ja mane, ended right when shit broke loose, recall Claymore has a similiar anticlimax as well.
Not bad at all.
Kai is the one that reveals what everything is about... but it all starts with naku koro ni. Some poeple may find it a bit boring as it repeats the same scenery over and over again with different incidents.
>Ja mane, ended right when shit broke loose, recall Claymore has a similiar anticlimax as well.
It's like it was meant to be the season to set up everything, only they never continued it. And if they tried to go back and do it now, they'd probably fuck up somehow.
Dat fucking ending though, Berserk is nothing if not brutal.
At least we have the manga, I guess.
Have you watched Claymore? I've had it recommended to me in the past, I've never gotten around to watching it though.
I'd classify it as best anime I've ever watched. There was no one, specific, separate achievemnt it would be remembered for, but the thing that makes it top1 is that every episode kept very high level. Intriguing plot, good characters, astonishing ending. It has it all
(talking about brotherhood)
I'd like to think that the people calling attack on titan a god-tier anime are just new to anime or trolls, but some of them legitimately think it's god-tier.
Attack on Titan has no real merits except for the very well done animation. The story is bad, and none of the characters are really likable, except for maybe Jean or Sasha.
Oh and also Code Geass especially R2
>Have you watched Claymore? I've had it recommended to me in the past, I've never gotten around to watching it though.
I couldn't get into it. I tried seeing as how it's recommended all the time.
Samurai Champloo and FMA:Brotherhood come to mind. Death Note was legendary the first half, but the second half, not so much. Attack on Titan is like The Walking Dead of anime. It's alright.
Suprised nobody metioned SAO(Sword Art Online)
Aye, when it comes to Berserk people always refers one to the manga. It was a nice watch anyhow.
I wouldn't say Claymore bests Berserk... would call it worthwhile but not essential viewing.
People have a load of opinions on the big shonen series but fuck I love One Piece.
Aritake no yume woooo, kaki atsumeeee, sagashi mono sagashiiii ano yu sa... one piece!
>the most successful show in japan
just because you dont like it does not make it shit tier
also pic related
Almost forgot about Cowboy Bebop!
Again, all the stories were awesome, great story arc and the characters had good back stories (what they would tell you about them).
Too bad they only did one season. But then again it is probably best the story end on a high (but depressing) note rather than a sad, drawn-out fart.
Not entirely related, but... I remember watching an anime/cartoon series with my ex-gf and I can't for the life of me remember the name. The animation was kind of childish, like powerpuff girls. The series was about two girls/sisters/angels or some shit and they fought demons and monsters and things. There were poop jokes and sex jokes and cursing, it was all around lewd. They had a black mentor guy if I remember correctly.
Anyone know what this is? I'd really like to watch it again. It was pretty funny.
Black Lagoon and The 2nd Barrage.
just as i was turnin dis up ma nigga.
you're a fucking moron if you think it is bad because it is popular.
if you have not watched it all you have 0 room to talk shit about it, its long and i get that. but the story writing, the music and the animation itself is nothing short of fucking amazing. If Bromance and adventure isn't your thing that is fine but One Piece is still god tier regardless of your shitty opinion.
Naruto (I really liked it)
You went there. You actually made the Nazi jump with only one point of connection and it was referring to the popularity of One Piece no less. Also, the majority determines what's "good" and "bad", though we as individuals might disagree. In short, kill yourself. One Piece is awesome.
SAO It is not god tier , it is okay. The first part is the best but after that it should have pulled a Malaysia Flight 370 and disappeared.
> Code Geauss was excellent, and if you are going to watch Full Metal Alchemist at least watch brotherhood , the other one goes down a spiral that makes no sense.
> Chrome Shelled Regios is not too bad
holy fuck this, also it's slow paced as fuck and the characters are mediocre, almost no character evolution. the first episodes are the best because of the atmosphere of fear and despair they create but afterwards meh.
>Not seeing this
a lot of people say that but there really is not that much filler considering it is 672 episodes. again if you have not watched it all, 0 room to talk.
>It's another unrealistic dumb love story
i really dont know where to start with how wrong and idiotic that statement is...
how many anime out there are realistic? it is meant to be unrealistic fucktard
>dumb love story
says the guy who has never seen the show
Kek, if one drops a show like that one is bound to have to take a lot of shit. But yea, the way the story's been puzzled together so far is awesome, the way tiny details that took place several years and hundreds of episodes back makes impact and ties in with current events. The sense of adventure, fun and bromance, it's hard to beat.
das it bby, have sum a bit more chill
I didn't say it's bad BECAUSE it's popular, I said it's bad, AND it's popular.
It's not god-tier by any fucking margin. Just your standard generic hero going on adventures with his friends for fucking ever.
Elfen Lied... one of my few hate objects when it comes to anime unfortunately
Very nice! I'll raise you this musing from someone's coolest anime characters list, it starts at the 5:05 mark, you'll probably like the reasoning.
I saw the show. It was another cliche ridden love story. Seen it in countless other animes
They played more into the love angle than the far more interesting game.
They even cop out the reason why the guy made the game in the first place.
Unrealistic in terms of relationships. Not talking about the being trapped in a game.

Imagine if it was done Anthology style since they were in the game for years with multiple characters' stories
Jumping in anywhere except the beginning is pretty doomed I'd say. Can understand you tho..I've been thinking about picking up Detective Conan some day but jesus christ it's over 700 episodes now.
there are no series that even come close to the bromance and adventure One Piece offers. again if you have not watched it past the 2 year time skip, you have 0 room to talk about its story writing.
were you even paying attention to the show. the game is an alternate universe that has nothing to do with the series, if you watched it you would know this.
Yup, I expected it to take an interesting turn, and while there was a twist, it was poorly delivered, and when shit hit the fan most deaths felt really forced, how the characters got themselves in stupid situations and how they became batshit insane for no reason.
Either makes for a piss poor comparison. At least, use another form of entertainment. And my point, is that you're point is wrong. Though we don't always agree with it, the general populous determines what is good. That's how it's always been, is, and always will be. Popularity = Good
yeah, i can't do that. have an inability to watch a single episode of anime, nearly always end up watching a whole season at a time.
thought so, plenty of other animes I am working through anyways
>higurashi no naku koro ni
This was the same director as cowboy bebop fyi, this is what he did after. Personally really liked it, but I do agree if felt rushed at the end which was a little lame.
>the game is an alternate universe that has nothing to do with the series, if you watched it you would know this.
What? I mean the game in the show. The one they're trapped in. The fact if they die in the game they die for real is far more interesting than having a prgram for a fake child and buying a house in the woods because muh teenage love.
here you go
Soundtrack will make you forget about the rushed ending,Man.
fuck, I watched that movie last week, so good
It was obvious they didn't have much to work with (evident by lengthy still frames of characters doing nothing, the long intro, and the cityscape shots), but still loved it. I would rather that they solely used the city shots for lengthening the movie than the other ways. Wondering if I should watch anything else from the series.
>Spice and Wolf
>The Devil Is A Part Timer
Watch em, love em
I still think this is the best I have ever seen
BTW; anyone up for a little game? Make a capture at the 5 min mark and guess the anime? (if it's a series - pick the first episode)
This one should be pretty easy
the entry level in this thread is real i must be spending too much time on /a/
allow me to educate you
>tatami time galaxy
>jojo's bizarre adventure
the tv show is good but not the best. The other movies are pretty entertaining though
Kek, I'll swallow the rest and I haven't seen Gunbuster yet but...
For god-tier? Really?
Also, while Jojo is glammy as hell and has loads of cool 80's references and stuff... I dunno man.
Well done Sir! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YCN-a0NsNk
Made another one, should be fairly easy too but maybe not as many have seen it as Drrrr.
I just started watching One Piece myself, thought it was kid's stuff until my friend put it on one night and was impressed.
You really want to start at the beginning. It sucks and it's pretty boring, those first few small arcs, but you'll get hooked by the 30th episode or so.
And then you have like 600+ to keep you entertained for the next few years.
i loved it too
also this was funny as fuck
>being a faggot.
Why can't more people from /a/ be like the final stage.
Good ones from various genres:
Spice n Wolf
Candy Boy (Note: has neither boys nor candy)
Gun Slinger Girls (Season 1 ONLY)
Requiem from the Darkness (Though I know a lot of people didn't like the art work)
mebe i'll watch a few in english on netflix (if it's on there) and see, then switch to the proper version if i get into it
I'm a massive studio ghibli/miazaki (however it's spelt) fanboy, so my opinion would be that it's fucking great
I really like it. Miyazaki and Ghibli are great, but kind of overrated something as a "omg how can you not like it" by normalfags. It's too bad he got so bitter. I think he mellowed back out though.
GSG Seas 2 - they changes the entire art staff and most of the writers. SIGNIFICANT drop in art quality and story line. Most of the characters look very different and the art isn't very clean.
A-lot of animes have arcs, but they usually have a main storyline. I just feel like nothing really progressed in the series, and every arc was basically the same. Talk talk Bang bang Talk talk. The end
Damn straight. Fucking satisfying having that huge, shit eating grin it mentions.
There's a difference between liking shitty things and believing them not to be shitty, or sub-par, and knowing it, but not caring.
Why has no one mentioned Kino no Tabi (Kino's Journey)? That's as good as anime gets. It's as good as anything gets.
>anime discussion in /b/
>more enjoyable than /a/
On my toplist, love the atmosphere in it.
No one wanna guess this one? Should be pretty easy.
In anime, old is gold. Dragon ball, trigun, hellsing, berserk, rurouni kenshin, and legend of the galactic heroes. It's like star wars but with more politics.
its nice to walk in here from /a/ and feel like a god amongst weebs. my long hair billowing in the wind and my masculine body oiled and glistening.
do you even know my power level, bro
Points for you, Sir!
Here's another, may be a bit trickier.
Saw this a few months ago. It is totally awesome.
Fuckit, another one - pretty ez mode this one, but it sucks if they're near impossible.
