Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has already been proven to be the ONLY effective martial art in a real combat scenario. I have been training for 6 years and have done sparring sessions with guys in a no rules type scenario from other martial arts who insisted they would kick the shit out of me easily (i'm around 145 pounds, they have all been larger. within reason here nobody 200+)
I have eaten a few shots for sure, but once I clinch with them I easily take them to the ground and their strikes mean nothing now. I very EASILY secure a choke or joint lock and they give up. In a street fight scenario I would just choke them out or break whatever limp I decide to latch onto.
No Bullshit, Tried and Test. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is all that matters
Seriously though, it's still useful to have some distance-gaining contact techniques so that you have time to draw your gun. Judo is good for this, I'd do a bit of BJJ too so that you can get out of a ground fight quickly.
I have been jumped on the street by multiple opponents and while I did no damage to any of them I was able to clinch with the first guy so his punches didn't hurt me and I broke free and got away. I know that the reason I was able to stay calm and defend properly and get away was because of my training and hours upon hours of live sparring. Many other martial arts spend most of their time doing pad work or bag work etc. you simply can't go on sparring for 1-2 hours every day punching each other in the face where as in jiu jitsu we can spar at nearly 100% without fear of injury as long as the person taps out.
>>591978160 That BJJ techniques is getting old, I'm also thinking about training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu but I'm a 130 lbs. Tried Muay Thai before but I'm not comfortable with it. Also thinking about Jeet kune do because of Bruce Lee LOL but they did some demo on me, and I was impressed on their speed and how to counter clinch
Out of the "traditional" martial arts Judo is the most effective. In the real world throwing someone on their back is often enough, if it's not you can break limbs with an armbar or a kimura. BJJ is more effective though but it's not a traditional martial art.
For overall fighting effectiveness you obviously have to crosstrain different martial arts. The ones that are the most common in MMA are the most effective: BJJ, Wrestling, Muay Thai and Boxing.
>>591979731 >In the real world throwing someone on their back is often enough You're right. You either leg it, or you wait for them to pick themselves back up and you do it again until they give up.
Trying to get down on the ground with someone is a great way to get yourself killed.
But intentionally going unarmed to a fight is just fucking stupid. Carry a gun. If you can't (or won't), then carry pic related. I don't care how tough you think you are, there is *always* someone better.
>>591980682 If a weapon is involved all of these things become pretty risky, really no use in discussing martial arts in this situation. I know krav mafags teach knife and gun defense but that shit is retarded.
Boxing is actually effective, especially if you are a big, strong and fast. Especially if fighting multiple opponents. It's likely that you break your hands but you often don't realize since your adrenaline is running. I broke my hand in a muay thai fight and didn't realize it until after the fight
>>591981680 I've seen a lot of fights. I've even been in a few.
>If you throw a boxing-style punch at someone with full force, you're probably going to break your hand. boxing is about precision not power, yeah, i've seen some fist injuries but I saw even more broken jaws.
I live in shithole ex ussr country and you can't imagine in how many fights I've been or seen in real life.
With hands down they're way faster and more stable and it's a sacrifice you have to accept unless you want to become a boxing bag in front of a TOP class taekwondo fighter with your hands up. I have a taekwondo black belt and have been through many fights in last 10 years.
Also, it's easy to punch with a fist, it's only used for body hits, not head hits. In actual street fight we use hands to hit into head too and we have pretty devastating punches. But to make of your legs a killing machine, that's something you need to practice for a long long time. Much easier for boxers with only hands, but leg kicks are much stronger than a hand punch.
>>591982460 There are some crazy effective TKD kicks, wheel kick, side kick, turning side kick and front kick.
Since TKD stylists aren't used to getting punched in the face or getting kicked in the legs it's not effective by itself. It's a great base though if you learn the other shit, just look at guys like Anthony Pettis.
Wrestling and boxing i would also say BJJ but you do not want to be in a situation where the other persons friends can get to you especially if your fighting nigs. you need wrestling so you dont get taken down and left in a vulnerable position
Muay thai thai boxing Braz. Jui Jitsu and "reality based martial arts" aka Krav Maga are working for most people pretty well but that is the deal: learn what works for you.
Have done Krav Maga for 3 years and started to do additionally Brazillian Jui-Jitsu because of its intense focus in groundfighting. Only had 2 fights in this time and worked pretty well for me but don`t know how my opponents were trained.(never got to groundfighting tho)
>>591983368 I knew you were going to challenge to an e-debate and im not going to validate you by responding to properly to your posts but feel free to assume im full of shit, dodging the question, 'mad, or w/e accusations you can come up with, i mean its not like ill remember you after i close my web browser anyway :^). Oh and my response to your post - 'yea kid.'
i dont know but i watched one of my friends who does BJJ get his ass handed to him one night at a bar. he basically tried to get the guy one the ground and that didnt work then got the shit kicked out of him.
i dont know if thats how it always goes down but it did not seem to work very well and it was funny to watch
>>591982460 It is retarded. If the increased stability and speed was worth it, all fucking kickboxing, UFC, Muay Thai and K1 guys would be doing it, because as opposed to retarded TKD fags they are happy to use whatever works.
>>591976226 >best Fighting style hurr durr nerds on the internet as fucking usual
there is no "best fighting style"
what is it needed for ? competition with rules ? then watch MMA, obviously BJJ + Muay Thai war with swords ? then budo (aikido + judo + karate) and kung-fu (all styles, especially shaolin) + any swordsmanship street fight ? I'd say Karate, Tae Kwon Do and composite power styles (yoseikan...)
>>591983998 some people seperate becaue of the traditional muay thai culutre BS and the "appereant abrivation it has experienced by its travel and stay into the west" aka beeing used interchangeable with kickoxing.
Someone is going to bitch if you mention it or if you do not so yeah. I think this leaves you beeing a massive fag
>>591976226 Ansatsuken art powered by the Satsui no Hado. I find that while my stamina is limited, I have so many offensive weapons at my disposal that a good defense is a better offense. I literally have something for anything thrown at me with the right spacing or even in close quarters.
>>591976954 >>591985248 kek >three guys threatening you and your gf outside a bar >tables and bottles everywhere >let's hug on the ground, fall on the ground with broken bottles, leave my gf at the mercy of the two other guys that are free to kick me in the head while we basically shadowfuck on the ground like fags S U R E U R E
>>591984523 Wing Chun is retarded unless you actually are at a facility where they let you spar with fighters of other styles. Ask a WCer to spar with you "Hurrrr the techniques we learn will maim or kill someone so I can't practice against a real person."
Striking any of those - boxing, kickboxing, muay thai or Kyokushin Karate in a legit school. Takedowns - Wrestling (freestyle or folkstyle), judo and sambo Groundwork: BJJ, Luta Livre Esportiva and Catch Wrestling
>>591984848 JKD is much more versatile, for how fast I like to move. I found that the stances in Shotokan rely much more on rigidity, and that's not how I like to fight. One can argue that JKD is more of a philosophy that can be applied to many different disciplines, but what I learned from Sigung Inosanto I found useful. It made my sparing better, and sharpened my reflexes as well as made me conscientious of space.
>>591985607 BJJ is about what to do in the likely circumstance that the fight does end up on the ground. However, I don't think any BJJ practitioner who knows what there doing would say that going to the ground is a good idea out in the wild, ever. Stay on your fucking feet.
Just because you aren't allowed to kick someone's shit in while they're on the ground on a mat or in UFC doesn't mean people will hesitate to do so in real life. Willingly getting on the ground gets you hospitalized.
guy with 10 years of judo training here. A few weeks ago i was elbowed multiple times in the face on the bus, i reacted very calmly and i said: what the fuck are you doing. He then sat down and didn't do anything else, he didn't even talk. Learn this: nothing is more imitating then trying to hurt someone with all your power and not succeeding. If i would have reacted in full rage something bad might have happend to him and i wouldn't have the right to go to the police, in fact he would have got the right to go to the police, welcome to the Netherlands
>>591986080 >euphoria >>591986035 yeah same but traditional stances are just demonstrative >>591986139 where did I say the contrary >>591986723 that's exactly what I said.. why do I even participate to these threads, we're like 5% practitioners VS 95% youtube commenters every time in these threads
As a bouncer I can tell you, you have are perfectly in your right to defend yourself. But since your trained, always do one less agressive move than your assailant. He punches, you pimpslap. He kicks, you punch. He elbows, you kick, he pulls a knife, you do whatever it takes. No legal problems at all. You can even make a citizens arrest. Just say: Bij dezen bent u aangehouden (NIET STAANDE GEHOUDEN). U wacht hier nu met bij op de politie. If he doesn't wait, which he won't, you can work him to the floor and hold him down untill the police or a BOA arrives.
>>591986403 Not american friend. And I've actually been in fights. If you go into some chink stance in front of a pack of nigs, they will laugh and then you will be known as that autist faggot who kicks in fights
take the fucker down to the fucking dirt good old fashioned no rules no holds barred grappling fuck your faggot ass kicks and weight displacement shit it counts for fuck all when am choking you out or if im sitting on top of you mashing your nose into your skull
>>591987843 You really think that it's a good idea to get into a full on fucking fight on a public bus? We aren't all still in Highschool, that dude has more important things to worry about than muh rep. In the adult world, the consequences of your actions often actually outweigh your immediate testosterone reaction.
It doesn't matter if all the other nignogs on the block don't think you can box or whatever the fuck goes through your head. Unless you're in a really serious situation, resolving things peacefully is a fucking grace. Nobody's going to be impressed at your le epic bus knockout on Worldstar, but you might just avert a bad ending by controlling yourself.
You should train on concrete, stone tiles and frozen ground, and with multiple opponents. If you can still win that, then you can make it with your BJJ. Not to say it isn't a good style, but it's just for one on one.
>>591988567 It's called defending yourself when you are attacked you spineless fucking looser. Why was he elbowing you in the face anyways? Probably because he knows there are no consequences. Anyone can walk right up throw some elbows in your face and then sit down like nothing happened.
Now you are just trying to rationalize it. It must of been a embarrassing and traumatic experience and now you are looking for support on the internet.
>I-I- I did the right thing, right guys?
No bitch, you didn't do the right thing and yes you are a pussy
>>591984344 You obviously don't know the blissful joys of jerking off with monkey paw style. >Style emphasises great strength and stamina in the hands/fingers, as well as upper arms and forearms. >Be at a bar with friends one night >Everybody has that one loudmouth friend that just HAS to let everybody else around know that you do martial arts >Some jock across the bar overhears my idiot friend >Jock approaches me >Jock: So, you're one of those Bruce Lee motherfuckers, are you? >Me: No, not really. >Jock: Oh? So you couldn't stop me if I did this then? >Jock walks over and slaps my gf's ass >Me: Get the fuck away from her right now >His eyes flare up and he starts storming towards me >Eye of the fucking tiger, son, it's on now >Go into windswept tree stance >He's confused >Dive for his jeans >Jock: Wai-whut? >Belt unbuckled >Zipper down >Jeans unbuttoned >Use the monkey projectile surprise technique >Essentially I beat him off with the fury of a Shaolin monk >Jock is completely stunned >Cums in about 20 seconds >I leer back at him >Me: Yeah that's right motherfucker! >Nobody ever messed with me again Don't judge until you try it, anon.
>>591976226 A buddy of mine is big into sparring and MMA shit. I asked him this and he said with no hesitation that if its for sure 1 on 1 jiu-jitsu will save your life but if its 2 on 1 or more and you have to figh,t the holds and clinching will get you killed. Only use grapples for throws, stay on your feet and strike. Muay Thai, kick boxing and western boxing are the best there.
That being said if you get into a fight with some one these days they will almost always havea weapon or back up.
>>591989656 Notice how I referred to bus dude in the third person. This indicates that I am not, in fact, the dude who got elbowed in the face on the bus. They should have taught you this back in 1st grade.
He didn't turn what happened into something ugly that could have potentially gone bad for him. I'm sure that you're some kind of modern badass gang member who's willing to turn getting bumped into on the street into a shooting, but we can't all be just that cool.
Fights in public aren't all le epic and cool, you can't act just like all those hardcore rappers you love, sometimes you have to think about what happens afterward.
Injured? Maybe fired. Dental injury? Maybe in bad debt. Police get involved? Maybe they don't see it your way because they don't like your face. Dude ended the conflict without raising his hands, and thus went on with his day with no tale to tell of how "I knock that bitch out on da bus".
There's nothing wrong with defending yourself, but if he was elbowed several times and wasn't bleeding, knocked out, or immediately fighting back, it wasn't a big deal, and there's no reason to chimp out. Being the bigger man isn't some myth that the weak white man invented, it's a pretty important concept to grasp.
Except nearly every fight, especially with multiple opponents, ends on the ground. I see it every weekend, and I've been downed myself more times than I can remember. You're right, no doubt, but not realistic.
Source: I'm a bouncer. I do barfights for a living.
>>591976226 I have found that many times no matter your training- no one is ready for violence. If you have the element of suprise, and a "no such thing as a fair fight" attitude: you can beat anyone in a fight.
Last one. Filled with jocks every weekend. Legal immunity because daddies money, undeserved arrogance, youthfull brashness, horny as shit. Combine that with bitchy upper class girls who like to play games, a few morrocans and trailerpark-boys that sneak in sometimes, and there you go. Really, I'd much rather man the door at a biker bar or something.
>>591976226 Just learn to brawl. Street fights aren't something you can master like these fancy fake martial arts. People fight differently and in most street fights the fight will end in 1, 2 punches. You can learn all the martial arts in the world but if someone sucker punches you the fight is over.
Usually styles revolving around 1 hit principle work the best in street fights. Other than that, Muay Thai and BJJ are the most optimal ones. To pick one - I'd go with MT, since BJJ isn't really suited for multiple encounters.
Probably. There are more bars like that. Usually they just hang up a list near the door with a dresscode that lists all morrocan clothing (nike airmax shoes, fur on hoods, jogging-pants, those berberry hats, man-bags, etc.) and that solves the problem 95% of the time. And most of my collegues will always refuse a morrocan for being morrocan. I usually give morrocans that follow the dresscode the benefit of the doubt because I believe in giving people a chance. But 9 out of 10 times I still end up throwing them out. Still, I think that one fellow who can behave himself and enjoy himself is worth it. I have to believe that or fall into that hole where I have no choice but believe that all of them are bad.
in reality fair fights 1 on 1 do not exist in serious situations. you need a fighting style which is extremely explosive and effective at taking down your opponent quickly, by targeting weak parts of his body like the eyes ,scrotum, throat and wrists.
>>591993494 To add, imo clinch fighting works wondefully if you're experienced. Then again, it suffers from the same thing as BJJ, you won't defend yourself against several people, but in 1v1 it's even deadly.
>>591994257 For the throws mainly. Out of all of those I'd put TKD and Judo last.
I would add Muay Thai Up there and it would be tied with BJJ probably. Jiu Jitsu is the best for all around, protection/defense and competition. Combinations of these are great.
A Judo and BJJ person will take you to the ground and then wrap you up for submission. TKD would allow for good striking and offensive techniques and when combined with Jiu Jitsu would be formidable 1v1.
