>Neon Genesis Evangleion
Classic, and given so much attention for a reason. It's deep, dark, and glorious.
If you haven't seen it yet, you're not an anime fan
Sci-fi, humor, romance, dark twists, amazing character building, very original plot. Get through the first 8 episodes and it really gets great.
>Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
I notice something new every time I watch it. Easily one of the best anime series ever created. Tells a story about growing up in the most original, over the top, and amazing way possible. It can be funny, sad, confusing, or whatever you want.
literally the worst thing ever, don't trust anyone who seriously recommends it for anything besides torture
>Almost any Ghibli movie
Code geass, death note, samurai champloo, EVA, watamote, Melancholy of haruhi suzimiya, durarara, FMA brotherhood, steins gate, gurren lagann, monster, psycho pass just off the top of my head
Mushishi, Detroit Metal City, Nichijou, Dennou Coil, Dirty Pair, C: The Money of The Soul and Possibility Control, Non Non Biyori, Minami-Ke, Steins;Gate, Planetes, Katanagatari, Ichiban Ushiro No Daimaou and Maoyuu Maou Yuusha
hip hop samurais. Are your panties wet yet?
>Ghost in the Shell (95 movie, both seasons of the show)
Glorious sci-fi universe unlike any other. It inspired the Matrix and introduced generations to abstract sci-fi concepts like transhumanism
gun porn, gun porn, gun porn, action, gun porn, shota undertones, gun porn
Cute girls, dark twists, loli jesus. Anything else you wanna know?
90's as hell, stretches out forever, but it's fun original gundam
I didn't personally like it, but I see why a lot of people do. Mystery, fantasy, etc.
>Sword Art Online
If you want to laugh your ass off at one of the worst popular shows to come out in the last decade
Steins;Gate: character building, tangible romance plot, actual humor, extremely well animated, great voice acting, great setting, original concepts that don't seem too out-there
Elfen Lied: Bullshit. Naked retard screeches "nya." Horrible romance plot. Cousin fucking. Edginess for the sake of edginess. No plot conclusion in the anime. Characters are defined by a singular feature. Voice acting sounds like it was recorded on a cell phone from 2003.
Elfen Lied is the worst thing I've ever seen, Steins;Gate easily being the second best. They're only on the same spectrum for being how TO do things and how NOT to do things.
TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN
Alot of the stuff here is fucking great but ill post my top 5
Its a bit tough to get used to, but the story was great and overall a great ride
I fucking watched this 11 times, such a great series, just beware rebellion's ending
Im pretty sure this is /b/'s favorite and thats for a good reason. Best visual novel adaptation ever made
This show is just overall great, the characters are realistic and the development throughout the plot is amazing
>Full metal alchemist
I enjoyed both brotherhood and the original, a little "kiddie" at times but overall a great watch.
Also go watch some classics like code geass and cowboy bebop.
Also as a second note I am currently watching the bakemonogatari series, its really well done. Just dont blink or you will miss an ark
Death Note is legitimately good if you stop watching after Light, which is where the mangaka intended it to end.
Also sub is infinitely superior to dub. They fucked up the dub so hard.
finally somebody who has a clue in these shitty breads
Mushishi, Detroit Metal City, Nichijou, Dirty Pair, C: The Money of the Soul and Possibility Control, Planetes, Katanagatari
ill add a few more too....
Tokyo Ghoul, Break Blade, Redline, Arakawa Under the Bridge, Black Lagoon, Desert Punk, Grappler Baki, Initial D, Aldnoah Zero
Tonari no Kaibatsu-kun is one of the best romance anime that I've seen. It's funny as hell too.
Trigun is a space western, and the main character is a gun wielding version of Kenshin.
If you haven't seen Madoka Magica, I'd strongly suggest giving it a go. It's a dark twist on the magical girls genre.
Elfen Lied is shit for edgy teenagers. If you're watching just for the violence, fine, but don't act like it has any substance or value besides.
I don't like it, but I see why people do. L was cool, Light was mildly interesting if not funny when he's acting like a prick. The mysteries are occasionally engaging. It's not a bad show.
So much fucking this
I watched Deathnote in highschool, couldnt finish it
>Gave it a second change, regret sitting through it
I appreciate the idea behind the series but I didn't like the ending.
Dance in the Vampire Bund. Loli vampire princess.(it has a good plot too, but whatevs)
I'll throw in my two cents
>Sword Art Online
>Attack on Titan
>Ghost in the Shell
I liked the series, not so much the movies but that's just me
Some other ones I thought were either okay or worth a watch
>Hitsugi no Chaika
>High School of the Dead
>Familiar of Zero
wasn't half bad
>Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra
not really considered an anime, but great series none the less
The first season was great, Team Rocket had some of the best humor I hadn't noticed until I rewatched that shit.
watch the dubbed version, you'll thank me later
Anyway, that's all I got off the top of my head... it really all depends on what kind of entertainment you're looking for.
Idk what to say, i watched it expecting a shitty teeny show but by the end it surprised me.
To be honest, some key parts were overall stupid (eg. when she turns evil because of some bullies killing her dog/cat, i can't remember which kind of pet she had) but in the end it was good.
i liked Welcome to the NHK also.
as for some i would recommend:
Daily Lives of High School Boys
Mahou Sensei Negima!
No Game No Life
Oh! Edo Rocket
/b/, I have a terrible confession to make. I only just finished watching all of Rozen Maiden a few days ago ;_; I had never actually watched it.
>Some key parts
psychic chick just happens to finally escape this super secret facility because some guy just happen to drop his pen or something. The base just happens to be off shore of the place she and this kid were from. This kid just happens to be coming back for college. The kid and his cousin (who he just happens to be attracted to) just happen to be on the beach when the chick just happens to wash up. She just happens to have gotten amnesia from just happening to slightly miss a bullet. The guy also just happens to have amnesia because freud. They just happen to have a large house and don't feel like contacting the police. The police just happen to be working for those guys who were keeping the chick.
It was all stupid.
If you liked Welcome to the NHK you might enjoy Sasami-san@Ganbaranai. It's kind of like Haruhi mixed with welcome to the nhk.
I recommend Kiwaguro no Brunehilde. It's by the same mangaka as Elfen Lied and the plot is essentially the same except everything is different and it actually make sense and character development is a thing.
It's essentially a better Elfen Lied. Not that it's hard to top that 2edgy shock effect anime.
Haven't seen the first one, but I did enjoy Elfen Lied
Yes they're both overhyped pleb anime
Gosh and I was staying away from posting it.
Good to know it's becoming more popular.
New chapter in 4 days.
I didn't say it was good, was only using it as a reaction image faggot.
Hellsing Ultimate is probably the only anime I have liked with over the top violence. I never finished the original series but don't remember liking it that much.
Gantz sucks, don't watch it op.
>cant backup my arguement
>try and insult for my own stupidity
alright then, give examples of shows with plot?
Bleach is the greatest anime ever.
Pic related - it's a man named Charlotte.
>Everyone knows /b/s favorite is watamote
what was that ~desu?
>watamote was such a good laugh
Idk watamote gave me feels.
So many shit tastes posted here.
One piece/Naruto/dragonball/bleach are wastes of time, don't watch these ones.
Do watch these however:
Bakemonogatari and other seasons
Hunter X Hunter
Mahouka koukou no rettousei for some Gary Stu
And just watch whatever the fuck I don't care, there are too many good animes to make a list really. Don't be lazy and search for yourself.
Cowboy Bebop - Top tier with Gurren Lagann
Kill la Kill!
Akame ga Kill (up until about episode 18, then it turns real shitty real quick)
Gurren Lagann - Probably my favorite anime ever.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
The Devil Works as a Part Timer!
>full metal alchemist (not brotherhood)
>black lagoon (dat jinglish tho)
>ghost in the shell: stand alone complex
>great teacher onizuka
>Denpa Teki na Kanojo
screw all of your shit tier animes
Day Break Illusion is the shit
I've got more butt ownage, but you have to ask nicely.
>hates on One piece/Naruto/dragonball/bleach
>recommends Hunter X Hunter
Isn't that a medicore version of "One piece/Naruto/dragonball/bleach" just without filler?
>Familiar of Zero
literally some of the worse animes ever.
Why can't you let us enjoy this?! We haven't had forced anon in forever!
you only say that coz' you know your loli shit will never get more so many viewers
Personal Top 5
>inb4 anime n00b because I am
Attack on titan
>Pretty cool plot, very gory, decent character buildup, plot twists that are semi-obvious
>Fantastic plot, kind of confusing if you don't watch it in consistancy, (SPOILER) After antagonist dies it turns to shit (SPOILER)
>Awesome plot, tries to keep anime realistic (as much as sci-fi can be realistic), ending is confuse so read manga if you don't want to wait for season 2.
FullMetal Alchemist (Brotherhood)
>Plot like DAMN, characters are kinda Meh
Sword Art Online
>If you want to laugh your ass off as every single character wants Main's dick, watch this. IMO, not the worst, keeps me entertained.
>implying /a/ doesn't just dickride the same handful of anime and bash anything that isn't loli
I know right? The plural is animu. lol, so stupid...
How does it feel to have wasted 260 hours on a shit art, shitty plot armor, stupidly written characters, beating a dead horse long past it's prime series?
Posting this type thing on /a/ will get you nothing but asshurt replies telling you to google. They don't like questions on /a/. They also don't like anyone with diverse taste.
I disprove of any board where I can't post porn.
I remember liking ROD, but I remember a movie, ova and series and can't remember which was good...
We shall shine the light of Zvezda upon this vast earth!
I agree with you 100% anon. Elfen Lied was absolute crap. Even the service was disgustingly boring and dull. I had to force myself to watch it for the three episode rule. Stopped by the 2nd episode anyway.
Also, Steins;Gate is a beauty. The thrill starts after around ep 13, and goes on till the end. Kurisu a best. Even the movie was relevant and supported the series.
It was a shitty screen cap, give me a break ~desu
And the feels was the fireworks ~desu
Why are you doing this anon? Stop playing with me.
>dont have 250 hours to blow like that
You are posting on /b/, your life is bullshit. You got plenty of time to waste.
>not liking Haruhi
What the fuck am I reading?
Hey if mushishi can get a sequel after 8 years Deadman Wonderland has hope!
Feels pretty good mane, no matter where I look I can't find a series with a sense of adventure, fun and bromance the magnitude of One Piece. Plot armor? Kek, what do you think it is? A live action series or something? It's shonen action, fated characters with special abilities. Art quality varies but is overall highly watchable, stupidly written characters? lel again, what do you expect - they fill their purpose very exactly and precisely, this series would suck m-a-ha-ssively if it was something like LoGH or some other overly serious shit with tons of average joe's. Past it's prime? Story is pretty elaborately written actually, little details that happened years and years ago makes impact on current events, we're just getting started in the New World :3
It's *watchable* but the whole romance bit a´la "ohhh our love is sooo great and it'll conquer all" and the little angsty teen dramas are waaaay overbearing. If you want something similiar but a bit more balanced - try Xam'd, that's what I think at least.
It starts off kinda slow, but it has good build up. If you're only looking for action scenes or a cute story then it's not for you.
The main plot is the progression from adolescence to maturity. But don't get me wrong, the story does have its cute parts and there's mecha fights I'd recommend. Although Eureka Seven AO does the mecha fights infinitely better.
For weirdfags: WataMote, Mysterious Girlfriend X, Oreimo
The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat
Arpeggio of Blue Steel
Everything SHAFT including all the Monogatari
Sakugan no Shana
Super-original suggestion: Eva
Don't listen to the Elfen Lied haters. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll see chicks committing violence beyond.
Sorry but when /b/ tells you the anime you like is shit... it's shit ~desu
Touché - it's like either they love it or hate it, personally I was massively disappointed after watching it. For a good gorefest I'd recommend Hellsing any day rather but yea... as you say - it has a value in the rage it creates kek
It's worth one watch at least: there's so much done right, yet so much done wrong, it's kind of fascinating. If I had the choice to watch eureka or evangelion I would go with evangelion...
Only Mainstream shit in here.
FMA - B; Champloo: Elfen Lied etc u read in every fucking thread.
Shinsekai Yori isnt that well known i think and still has an amazing plot.
>Shinsekai Yori isn't that well known
Because mainstream = shit right? It's not like their series made to be enjoyed by a variety of people or anything.
Clearly the mainstream is wrong and my niche taste is right.
>Only Mainstream shit in here.
Oh shit! it's /a/ here to ruin our fun!
i just meant if you want suggestions you maybe already knew things like Death Note; Evangelion etc or am I wrong?
But you dont read often about it. It is well known on MAL but not everywhere.
Does anyone else get guilty pleasure from Cross Ange? Also more mainstream crap and suggested everywhere but you can't go wrong with SAO (and Log Horizon as a cheap but good knockoff).
One Week Friends
God Tier Anime 2014
Not Attack on Titan. Such shit.
what the fuck m8? sure it wasn't the greatest anime out there but cmon you enjoyed it. OP posted a picture of AoT shall I start ripping on mainstream anime that is fucking garbage now?
Sure, i don't watch that shit.
The only good thing about Angel Beats was the art. I kept having people with shit taste tell me it's the BEST ANIMU EVAR and wondered when it would get good, it never fucking did.
the question is what are some good places to watch anime and cartoons in general
