Favorite MTG cards and general MTG thread.
Why he's my favorite: 6 cmc for 6/6 with trample, green, cool design, good ability
I call him Big Dick Rick
Because he has a big dick and I named him Rick
Lightning Angel. It has one ability that each of it's colours are known for and even if it was reprinted in today's standard it would still be a playable card. I was really hoping it would get a reprint in karns.
Turn 1 Prime Titan in modern...
> discard simian spirit guide for 1r
> amulet of vigor (yo shit enters untapped)
> play simic growth chamber (ub), tap it then return itself to your hand
> summer bloom (play three extra lands)
> play simic growth chamber, tap, return 3 times
> 6 mother fuck'n mana for da titanz!
> grab mofoken haste landz an shiiiit
> swing, grab some fuck'n double strike lands or whatever
it's a card from another era but a sentimental favourite
Have no experience with MTG other than a pack or two my aunt mistakenly got me for Christmas when I was 12.
I had this cool card, it was a Tree/Ent creature with a kind of evil grimace to it, and in the description it talked about a warrior who went to confront the tree and came back to his village blabbering insanely and covered in sap.
Can anyone identify this?
What the hell? I've never even saved a pic like that. Jesus Christ. Ok, I found the pic with the filename MTGTrick.jpg (which should be two MTG cards being held side by side). Lemme try again.
Ahhhaaa, well that's the description I remember, but that's not the character/illustration, I must have combined the two in my head. Tempted to dig through boxes for these cards now.
I'd guess it was somewhere around 2000-2002, but I can't be sure.
Sorry for terrible vague description.
Uh, I wasn't talking about YOU. I was referring to myself. I have never been to a tournament. Perhaps I wrote my greentext incorrectly and it made it seem like I was accusing you of lying? If so, my apologies.
i think it's so the creature can't be destroyed, but i don't know if "your turn" counts for the owner or the player who has control.
besides that, i don't see how you regain control of it if you give it away, if that's what you want.
want to make your friends mad? remove the counters yourself, doublekek
entomb / exhume
force of will
GOBLIN MOTHER FUCKING PILEDRIVER
easily my most favorite cards
earthcraft + squirrel nest (yea I was that faggot)
stasis (yea I was also that faggot)
just one of the cards that wraps the game around itself. especially when paired with mycosynth lattice. #gitrekt
this card is almost as stupid as this:
people HATE me when i play this in my political edh deck huehuehue
Hmmm that's not it either. It was a wide shot of a huge ent creature that was drawn to look super creepy.
I'm trawling the MTG database looking for it now, will report back. Thanks for the help!
this bad boy right here helped me win a lot of fights
One of the best commanders printed in the last I don't know how many years.
She's so good. And soon enough we will get her in Walker form.
I know that feel. I had a black deck that pissed off my friends in high school. It had Megrim and Underworld dreams and the idea was to force the opponent to discard cards, resulting in him taking damage both by drawing and discarding. I was going to modify it so it would force the opponent into drawing cards too, but never got the chance. I haven't played MTG since...
This is the core of my favorite little combo deck when I played with my college friends. Possible turn 3-4 win, but can win late game even against mill/control.
Astral mother fuckin' slide
I looooooooooooove this card. Coupled with fluctuator.. sweet jesus I love it. Too bad cycling is too slow now days :T
Basically, Assault Suit is meant for multiplayer games. You can have an opponent take control of Zurgo, but Zurgo still cannot attack you because you control the assault suit. He can however attack anyone else. And his controller can pass him around, while you're still in control of Assault suit, so you can't be attacked.
Prime Speaker is cool and all, but she's not my Simic commander of choice. And Avacyn doesn't really do to to well in control because she has no blue.
And to be honest, besides Azami I normally play combo or good stuff. To make me play control it takes quite the card.
I discovered this mono-red combo recently, okay for modern
I also used Birds of Paradise, some B/G dual lands, and stuff like Altar's reap and removal to fill out the deck.
Flying, first strike, vigilance, trample, haste, protection from red and black 6/6 all for 8 mana.
And the flavor, oh god the flavor. To me she's the epitome of what an Angel should be. That and I just love all Angels really.
His narset deck is such a problem in our playgroup that every time we play EDH he gets focused down immediately. It's really sad, because if we don't kill him almost immediately then he pretty much wins.
God dam, we need a reprint.
Yeah, she is pretty beast mode. I played her in reanimator for a bit. It's been awhile but you used to be able to pull her out of the graveyard but idk anymore since all the STUPID MOTHER FUCKING CHANGES they made.
This is fantastic but.. I'm a poorfag
I love combos like this but they were too slow for my play group.
Same as the above - Love the interaction but couldn't ever get to pull it off consistently due to speed issues.
If I could ask, how does he build it?
I find there are 3 main Narset Deck's being built.
Super Timmy Narset where they use her for random big spells.
Super ramp her out for extra combat and turns
Or the version I use which is hard control with a fuck ton of counter spells.
and this, another great low cost green card that has won me many games
I didn't know shit about how to play MTG, but I loved the way this card looked.
Tangle is definitely one of my favs when in comes to fogs, this one too
> pact of negation!
Shits easy to play when you already have 10 mana sources worth of lands.
Of course turn one amulet is also the most unlikely nut draw in modern as it requires like 6 of your 7 opening cards.
The only reason we're really able to deal with it is because it usually doesn't get Narset out early. but then he does, makes it unblockable, or gives it protection from everything, then uses things like Strionic Resonator and Aurelia to get everything
all hail the white rabbit
+ donate of course
get the clock ticking
also white border = best border
My Narset is kinda like that, with every walker I can manage. But I don't use any spells to make her unblockable, and no other creatures.
I just keep the board clear, or counter relevant spells then swing for the win with Narset
one of my favs... pulled in my first 2015 pack
I don't think I have ever walked away from a game where I played against Narset and said "wow that was fun". She may be a great commander, but with all the stupid infinite combos people do with her she is not fun to play against.
this is a pretty cool combo i have used in EDH for ramping. after i get some tokens and such this can get you a LOT of mana esp if i already have mana reflection out
This guy is just a pure flavor win.
Oh I agree 100%. She is one of my two decks that I only play if I need to win. Like for a tourney or something.
She makes sense. Two triggers can easily be game ending.
Personally I'm thinking about adding Soulfire Grandmaster because god dam her ability is great with Narset.
This one is my favorite because its red.
Oh I see why we are having a misunderstanding, your reading the announcement off the webpage, that is just listing SOME of the sets in MM 2015, if you were watching Worlds last year when they initially announced it, they specifically stated it would contain cards from 8th edition to New Phyrexia
Beat an asshole running an artifact deck in multiplayer. Was running two of these. He targeted me instead of his friends because he was going to show me what a big man he was — Mr. Magic Brain.
So I played my null rod. He was pissed but smug once he managed to get it out of play (probably bargained with another guy). So, I played the other one.
He lost first and was so butthurt that he accused me of cheating. I wasn't cheating. I knew he was going to play an artifact deck so I sided in two null rods. He was too lame to have a deck that could handle them.
you're fucking idiots.
Read the goddamn oracle text.
Painter's Servant gives lands a color.
>muh alpha chaos orb
but most fun goes to phage and mana crypts
4 sources from titan lands + whatever bounce land you play as your normal drop minus the land you bounce = 5 sources for pact. Whether they have 2u is questionable.
I don't know if titan can hit +4/+0 and double strike on turn one, but a nerd can dream.
Damn, I've got all these cards from the mid-late 90's, but I don't know the first thing about Magic. I could have gems here but I . . . just don't know.
Going through them now for the first time in years. They look cool but idk what they mean lol. Anyone care to give any basic signs that a card might be rare/valuable?
I haven't played MtG on over fifteen years, but these combos make be feel the happy. Bravo, fuckers.
Am I the only one that automatically thinks of these guys when the topic of Slivers comes up?
>Is it good?
Just for the lulz.
Give to white weenie player or elves using Donate... something that relies on a lot of little creatures but which has little graveyard recycling.
Then use an Icy Manipulator to tap it. Hilarity ensues.
Three card combo is weak and silly but the lulz...
Sorrow's Path is one of the worst MTG cards ever. The developers must have been on cheap drugs. But it's flavr-full!
If they're old and in good condition, any one of them could be at least a few dollars if it's from the right set. Take out any nonbasic lands, because rare lands are expensive, and the rest you'll have to look up
I haven't played magic since tempest. I still have my collection. Saw this thread and thought it would be cool to see some of the new cards. I just used to love playing 4 black lotus, 4 time walk, 4 ancestral recall and 4 timetwister, 4 of all the moxes, taking infinite turns and drawing cards forever, never ending my turn til the opponent quit. I did have one Juzam Djinn in my deck incase I had to attack them to death if they wouldn't quit. I'm looking at the deck right now and its bring back so many memories
Serious EDH player here. This is my general, I rarely cast him. When I step up to the table niggas recognize.
The little symbol on the right hand side of the cards, just underneath the picture. Order of rarity (and generally how good it is) from least to greatest is black, silver, gold, and that bronze-ish orangey
I have you all beat, this little shit right here nigga! this shit right here! he be cute as FUCK, CHECK. MTG master's favorite beast, both show and manga faggots! costs less than a fried chickens, MOTHAFUCKIN CHECK. plus he so stealthy noob bitches dont know and will trade a colorless mana for it, LOL CASUAL FAGS.
I liked to play broken cards like the lotus in mp in order to try to survive with weird weak cards and combos.
Most people bitched about it... they didn't understand the artistry involved in trying to survive by propping up the weak with the strong
I had some very cool mp decks. I usually wouldn't win but I usually would be the last to lose.
This was a fun card to try to build a deck around. Horrible card but flavr-full!
This combo was in the first mtg deck I ever made. It's my favorite, both because it's really cool and just for sentimental reasons.
Let's say you have 10 cards in your graveyard. I tap the aberration, you mill 10, aberration becomes 20/20. I can mow you down with my huge creature, or I can tap again and now you mill 20. He becomes 40/40. Tap again and you mill 40. You lose.
I see, I've got a few here that are silver, and two that I can't quite tell if they're gold or bronze-ish (lighting is dim in my room right now. The card in question is attached.
A lot of these cards aren't marked though, which from what Google says is a trait of the very early cards. How do I determine which specific deck they're from? Sorry for noob questions lol.
Thanks for the tips bros. I'm separating out lands/artifacts now. This really makes me wish I knew how to play now!
Oops, forgot to attach picture. Here:
This is a fantastic card. Sad that it was banned.
Intuition is fucking AMAZING.
I love this combination.
Panoptic Mirror - 5
Imprint - X, T: You may remove an instant or sorcery card with converted mana cost X in your hand from the game.
At the beginning of your upkeep, you may copy an imprinted instant or sorcery card and play the copy without paying its mana cost.
Time Warp - 3UU
Target player takes an extra turn after this one.
Imprint Time Warp. Begin turn, cast copy of Time Warp. Get extra turn. Begin extra turn. Repeat.
this in a blue deck with nothing but mana ramp and cancels
total crap, like so many MTG cards
what were their devs smoking?
