Swingin utters kicks ass. Consistently amazing sound and lyrically beautiful.
Choking Victim and Leftover Crack are good. Minor Threat is overrated, rancid are a guilty pleasure, I really like them. Need to listen to the other two
Need to check these out
The Adicts are way underrated. If you'd take something more 50s influenced, you might like The Cramps. And don't forget Off! and Agent Orange. I like some Social Distortion too.
Love the cramps, punkabilly is underrated as fuck. Adicts are pretty good. Off! Is a great recent one, Keith Morris still has it. Haven't listened to much Agent Orange, but what I've heard is good. Not really a big fan of Social D
Need to check these out
Exploiters lyrics suck, and there's horrible rumours about racism, plus they completely ,is understand the concept of anarchy. But their music is still enjoyable
Addicats are a joke.
'hey hey i want a chinese take away'?
gtfo- thats not punk, thats shit.
Peter and the Test Tube Babies, GBH, Vice Squad are alright
Check out Blitz- The All Out Attack EP.
And it goes without saying- Discharge, Crass, Conflict, are the real punk bands.
Adicts are good
PaTTB are alright, never really got into GBH or VS
I like Blitz
Crass's early stuff is good, but they got a bit avant-garde, I mean, ten notes in a summer day fucking sucks ass. So excited for that release, got it the day it came out, and it was a major disappointment
Check out Last Rockers by Vice Sqaud. I reckon its a punk anthem.
No Goverment, the 7" version from the 4 Sore Points EP by Anti Pasti is cool as fuck too.
Addicts- still not buying it!
Check it out fags
Lagwagon and swingin utters are two of those rare punk bands where they successfully merge complex musicality and emotionally meaningful lyrics in a beautiful way. A lot of bands try to, but most get lost in the complexity. They're rare in the sense that they maintain the embodiment of the punk mentality in new and exciting ways that still have credibility and not just as niche music.
They just sound like every other west coast hardcore band at the time, they just seem like nothing special, but I guess it depends what you grow up with I'm not a fan of Black flag either
I against I is amazing
Devi are a guilty pleasure, love their cover of satisfaction
This isn't true. You should do your research. The band formed, they needed a singer, a friend of the band (Malcolm McLaren) suggested John Lydon. The only other ting that could possibly be "manufactured" is Johnny bring Sid on bass, for sex appeal.
No one can even fucking touch the Dwarves, man
Minor threat, Millions of dead cops, D.O.A., Dead Kennedys, Black flag, Bad Brains, Circke Jerks, The Descendents, Teen idles, Operation ivy, Gorilla biscuits, Reagan youth, Adolescents, Germs, Cro-mags, GG allin, OFF!, Fugazi, Misfits
they were assembled by Mclaren and styled by his bird Vivienne Westwood. Then he used situationist shock style pranks to get them on the telly and in the papers.
Thats showbiz, not punk rock.
madball, agnostic front, animalhaus, turnstile, harm's way, cro-mags, wisdom in chains, bane, murphy's law, terror, ramallah, blood for blood, race riot, crowd deterrent, death before dishonor, skarhead, strife, cockpunch, fury of five, H2O, Icepick, lifeless, havenside, lionheart. just to name a few
Try Cross Me or Corkskrew. They're more hardcore than punk but still snap. MDC or maybe Dag Nasty or more hardcore punk.
Good local Midwest Hardcore bands:
Tight Grip (Straight Edge)
Dead and Gone (straight edge)
Outbreak (hardcore punk(
Kids Like Us
Full of Hell (seriously dope)
Dead End Path
Code Orange Kids
Good jams indeed.
Also, what's everyone's opinion on push moshing vs. hardcore dancing?
>Also, what's everyone's opinion on push moshing vs. hardcore dancing?
My opinion is that you, your mother, father, aunties and uncles, and indeed everyone you know are all hos.
The only source we have of that happening is from McLaren himself.
Regardless, sometimes I wish that was true, as well as all the things he claimed he masterminded in The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle. That would be hilarious.
Every metalhead I've ever encountered doesn't know actual hardcore and assumes hardcore dancing is just some windmilling shit. It's actually sad.
I cannot deny this.
Leeds hardcore scene is good at the moment. Tosserlad and Boycott The Baptist. Also, not hardcore, but Caves, bangers, and Iron Chic are bands I'm loving atm
New Good Riddance soon. Fuck yes.
Just figured i'd pop in. Tryin to string together a little folk punk trio. Nothing to fancy but ive always wanted to play a live show and im fairly qualified. Play harmonic and pretty much any stringed instrument. Im out of the midwest though and nobody out here plays.
Well i can only speak about what i experience. I like to thrash about and fuck places up, get pissed wasted throw my beers at people and have a good time. When i hear hardcore "dancing" i think about the breakdiwn folk , i hear push mosh i think of the nu metal crowd. Equally pisses me off either way
