Bonus for historical twist, here's Mont Saint-Michel (Minas Tirith inspiration).
One of many Russian forts around my town. Entrance to the barracks. Building started around 1895.
That looks so run down, pretty awesome.
taken from another thread is this shithole
Not sure if it has inspired anything but look at it!
its a fucking mess, crazy that it was allowed to happen
the only person who knew the entire city was the mailman, who was nearly irreplaceable. Also, there was surprisingly low crime amongst residents (discounting drugs and prostitution)
Seems pretty interesting though. If you live in a shithole full of paramilitar and druggies maybe you are forced to behave because of greater good... and because you can make a shitfest if you steal from a neighbour.
Enjoying being multiculturalized?
Llevarse el oro no les sirvrio de mucho si tienen que vivir como maricas.
I've not looked into it much, but I assumed that the 'city of anarchy' would be filled with crime a la Ponte City apts

Say what you like about the people, but Islamic architecture is great.
I'm not even gonna argue. That picture is in Malaysia aswell, I like clear indications that the Islamic culture spread so far, I could give less of a shit that they stole it - I just like the way it looks.
Minarets and those stupid onion domes are ugly as shit, IMO. I will, however concede that the geometric patterns in their mosaics are not only beautiful but technically impressive.
i could totally agree with that :)
Those types of mosques you are talking about mostly originated from Turkey.
There are way more interesting and less kitschy mosques.
Here's one of my most favourites ones, in Samarra, Iraq. Islamic architecture is extremely impressive and was often far more advanced than the western one.
