I am in a decent university (like in the top 100 worldwide) and I am struggling in first year economics, like close to fail now. I have been accepted to European and International Law for the next semester. I pay 8k a year btw. I was wondering in the long-run which is the best option- 1) try hard get thro econ 2)fuck econ, I study law and save like 6K with the risk of failing.
I need an online/home weekend job to get me through college /biz/, need help on finding one because the stuff I would do usually doesn't have online postings. My family does well, but I myself have no source of income and it's pretty fucking pathetic to ask for an allowance at my age. >24 years old >Portuguese, completely fluent in English >have a degree in chemistry, getting one in computer engineering >know how to program and unfuck Windows... "Since the onset of the recession in 2008, labor force participation in the United States has dropped by more than 3 percentage points. As the chart below shows, looking further back, since peaking in the late 1990s, the percentage of workers has dropped by 4.4 percentage points, meaning millions of individuals are no longer engaging in regular work."
how long until there won't be any jobs for anyone?
People keep thinking "more automation, less jobs" means eventually the government will give everyone free money and they'll be in paradise, but in reality it's more like everyone living in post cold war Russia
only an absolute moron could read the job participation and interpret it as loss of jobs. in case you didn't know there is an enormous bulk of population known as baby boomers that are retiring and that's why job participation is dropping.
the only reason YOU don't have a job is because you're lazy and incomprehensibly stupid, not because of "the economy".
stop shitting up /biz/ and go the fuck back to /pol/ with these retarded "it's happenings".
My neighbour used to import buttons and other shit and sell to haberdasherys, around 3000% marge. He was the first one to import that kind of stuff from china in here (EU).
He was doing pretty well for himself untill he started ditributing those sort of draperies / curtains which old ladies could embroider with thread included in the set in a way that some religious motive would come out. Pic related Two months later he's bought two new premium class cars and bragged how much of success it was.

I've got $10k in savings and I won't be working for the next 2-ish years because of school. Should I just start hurling that money into an IRA or is there a more beneficial way for me to turn it into more money? Even if it's just $1-2k over 2 years, that's better than letting it just sit.
It's obviously a really importune time to cash out now. But you had between October and December to leave with a profit (assuming you bought SPY or another for index instead of a worthless meme or FOREX).
This is why I said look 6 months in advance for an exit opportunity. If you wait until the second you need money you're going to get a fat turd back. Only invest money you don't need.
I just had a phone interview for a pretty big finance internship. Interviewer called me and asked me with a cold un,emotional voice to walk him through my resumé
>incredibly nervous >resumé/past job experience not particularly relevant >rest of the interview is purely technical >get 4 questions >shaky answer on 1 >completely miss 1 ("I have no idea.") >Says... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I feel like it could have gone so much better but the person interviewing me just seemed so emotionless and heartless. This was also a freshman/sophomore position, and I was shocked by the difficulty of questions they were asking. Hardest question:
You're straddling a stock with an underlying value of $50. What is the ideal (∆ option price) / (∆ stock value).
