Too much over heads - space rental, employees. Too expensive for the consumers - why do I need to buy an overpriced "gold plated" $40 HDMI cable from future shop when I can get it $1 online AND have it shipped to my home
** Big MEDIA retails are dying off. Example: Blockbuster vs Netflix
Blockbuster was a media retail giant and it died because netflix took over. Why did Blockbuster died? Because Netflix is cheaper and more convenient.
Why do I want to drive to Blockbuster, rent a video and return it 3 days later, when I can watch on Netflix anytime I want, whenever I want?
What this means to you:
The future consumption of media is netflix, Amazon streaming etc. It's all about streaming into the tablets and smart phones. It isn't the "future" - it's now. It's mostly the baby boomers that still subscribe to cable TV.
>>1032575 I've only been trading for a week, and I've done nothing but short. All 17 trades I've made have been successful so far, with the exception being WMT, which was hopefully a bull trap and will keep sliding down like it was today.
Ok guys. A few years ago i traded in stocks and made 500 dollars, which wasnt that much but it was good for me. Today I decided to go back into it and make some money for the day by buying something at the beginning of the day and selling it at the end. I saw a good penny stock which went up 47% and kept going, so i bought it using all of my money from earlier. It went down from there, and i decided to sell it. At around 1 it was pretty low, so i bought it again because i thought it had the rest of the day to rise, but right when i bought it it fell. Now im really done because... Comment too long. >>1032557 Yes I am, you may look at its performance during the last few days. I will not go into the fundamentals but this is an under the radar stock that will get news coverage around April 2016 when they start shipping. However then you can assume its price will be somewhat higher than now.
>>1032490 it is not a fund that will outperform, if your uncle put 500$ in it in 2015 you've got 6,50$ out of it.
you can use it in a compound interest manner and everything you earn and can spare you put into that fund. with time if we say ideally your fund will have 5% average yearly performance and you put 5000$ in it every year, you will have 29 000$ in 5 years.
Ok /biz/ I was wondering if you can give me ideas on how to raise/earn some money
What am I trying to do? I've always wanted to own and drive a truck, and every time I see one I wish I could afford one, even if its a used one
But no more fucking wishing, I want to get that fucking truck and chase that dream, and hopefully achieve it within a year. Sure I can save up money, but at my $15 an hour call center job that's would take years.
I need some ideas on how to raise $10,000, and the quicker the better. I figure that amount is enough to get me... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Fuck, for some reason phone didnt post the whole thing
Anyways, I don't have any student debts to worry about
>but anon, why arent you working as a systems administrator or doing some IT or programming job making a ton of money? As for why I'm not working in my field, well I've applied for months on end and haven't gotten shit, not even a damn interview. It seems like its who you know rather on what you know, and I don't have any connections and neither does my family.
Either that or employers use... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I can't find a better place to post this so please bare with me
I recently was unconscious and had to be rushed to the ER. While I was in the ambulance I came to somewhat. The one thing I definitely remember is one of the paramedics telling another one, "go ahead and put a catheter in him, no anesthesia" in a real snarky tone.
Thanks to this I have a urethral stricture (damaged urethra, not severely but it is painful when i ejaculate/urinate)
Is this something I can press charges against the paramedics for?
>>1032406 Irethral strictures are a known complication of catheters. Using anaesthesia would not have helped. Maybe not using lubrication would predispose you. Their argument would be that it was an emergency/ your word against theirs.
So a few weeks ago I put an ad in the newspaper for computer repair, I get a call, and legally install copies of windows 10 onto various laptops for a company and the total bill is around $2500 the client gives me a perfectly good check and I cashed it, everything went smooth and both parties are happy, but my only concern is do I need a business license to repair and maintenance computers? I thought you only needed one if you were selling taxable goods?
I live in Pennsylvania if that is of any consolation
I do not believe computer repair is a regulated industry. Also there is not much to worry about. Looking around for a license and coming into compliance as you find one and are able to acquire it is acting in good faith.
You should start a company to limit your liability and maximize your deductions and writeoffs, and build your credit to eventually be able to get a loan for payroll and supplies etc...
>be me 18 >graduated high school >forced to take gap year >keep all my money in cash, around 10k >start university in September, will commute from home >would like to graduate university without taking loans
Is it bad that I'm keeping all my money in cash? I want to get that 30% off OSAP grant. I'm working 25-30 hours per week, until I start school. I'll probably... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>1032356 the -30% has been around for years its not going anywhere.
osap is pretty generous with me and I just hold the excess in my bank. I'm one year from graduating though, so after any expenses relating to employment, ex. a car, a wardrobe, etc. I'll dump a sizeable amount into the debt.
the amount of funding I received really hasn't changed year by year after I've disclosed, roughly, the value of my bank balance and stock portfolio.
I guess you should just invest/spend a bit,... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
