A tow truck business to be exact, towing cars and shit. My grandmother has about $100k she is going to give them as a start up. They plan to move to Florida, and start their business there. Neither of them have business experience, neither of them have a degree of business studies (Or anything related).
Am I wrong to think this is a retarded plan, and will most likely fail?
Should I voice my concern? Or should I just let them to do them?
They're both early 40s, and if this fails they will most likely... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>1024956 So they're moving to a new town where they don't know the market, the people or the competition? That is going to be a problem.
The second problem is being handed all that free money. They will certainly blow it. I could start a towing service on $8k. Having limited funds makes you work harder and spend smarter. Having free money leads to laziness and unnecessary expenses.
My ex employer did this. The tricks he had to make him successful include being a mechanic, having a garage with 3 bays to take the vehicles he started with 1 truck, and 1 bay. He had sons to drive his trucks as he got more trucks. Once you have 24/7 coverage get a AAA contract to fill your mechanic bay. The trick is to anticipate why people need a tow, and capitalize on it. He also did recovery until his kids were getting shot at (chicago). There's alot more to it if interested, I have thought about going this route and learned alot from someone who currently runs the... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I hold £5 worth of premium bonds. My uncle bought them for me when I was just a baby. I've won once and won £50. My sister won £50 three times as well
They're not like stock market bonds though, they're just like a lottery. A machine pulls a random number out its ass and and you can win various different prize levels. My parents bought quite a large sum of them many years ago and so did a couple of their friends and their friends won quite a bit once. Don't really know the details.
I'm much rather have had the money invested somewhere... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

No idea why I'm even (shit)posting this here, but whatever.
I'm in my 30s, and I've recently been laid off from my shitty retail job that I miraculously kept for over 10 years. Two very stupid questions :
1) What fucking file format do people want for resumes these days? I'm that out of the loop. Should this shit be .doc, .rft, what?
2) If I'm reasonable affable and can straight-face a lie, how easy is it to get away with that on a resume? I've never befriended anyone in HR before or worked in HR, so I don't know if they... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

I'm past the point of thinking about it for years on end and this month I am going to go ahead and make the plunge.
I'm a horrible liar, and hate lying, but things are dire and my time is running out/has already run out.
I have an AutoCAD certification from community college, an associates in Business, and an Associates in English, and I've been unemployed for the past 2 years, and before that nothing about 10/hr crappy retail jobs. Being 29 and bald, its no longer fun to work at the mall or barista or some high school shit, its soul crushing.... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Look for companies thatve merged. Either as a takeover, or ones that have moved overseas (Ireland I think is a recent country companies are rebasing in). A lot of companies have been doing that to avoid tax exemption. You can try to play the victim card I guess.
