So I have been hearing a lot of things about colleges and if getting degrees are worth it. I have heard quite a bit from both sides on the topic and I am still not sure what to think. It seems that a lot of people graduate with debt that they don't pay off for decades, and I'm worried that that will happen to me. I currently plan on going to college to be a physicist (going for a doctorates), but I'm not sure if college is financially worth it. Does anyone have any personal stories or advice to give on the topic?
One of my good mates studied physics and has been finished for 2 years (got his doctorate). I went straight to work with out Uni and am now studying part time (business and commerce). After doing that I can see how much of the degree is rubbish and people in the real world don't care about so much you are taught. I'm earning 95k in Aus and my mate who did his doctorate is working at Maccas because unless you work at the Uni where is a physicist going to work?
My advice, unless you love physics look at something else and I would say come back to Uni after you... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
But looking at places like Sweden and Canada, the majority of their renewable energy comes from hydro. Is this because large-scale solar/wind projects haven't been very economical, but new investments can get them out of the lab?
Both wind and solar are only profitable with subsidies. They are limited by not providing power 24/7 and not being able to easily scale the power output to consumption. Hydro and geothermal are only possible in certain areas of the world. If you want to invest in renewables invest in batteries.
How much money can be made selling user data to advertisers? Facebook free basics got me thinking. If I set up free 3g/4g data for people in a city and just capture all their usage, I could sell accurate profiles to advertisers. The question is, does the sale of user info cover the cost of riding on another carrier's bandwidth?
To all the posters in this site who trade in shares, what app/site/brokers do you use and which is best? I want try trading, only on a small scale 'cause no idea what I'm doing. Interactive investor seems like it's ok, dunno if others charge less. First time poster long time lurker
Hey /biz/, I want to be a billionaire, like really really bad. I'm 20 years old living in the USA and it's been my dream since I was like 15 to be filthy rich one day. I used to think I just wanted to go to college than go to Wall Street or go to a top law firm and make good money but idk if that's for me or if it's what I good at and my passion. I want to shoot for the stars and aim for the creme de crop and be a billionaire ( $1 billion in assets and net worth ) , I'm fairly business minded and have decent people skills and am good at analytical and... Sup /biz/. I don't know why I'm asking since most of the people on this board are American and degrees are different in Europe. Basically I've fucked up my exams and I managed to only get into an ordinary bachelors degree in engineering. I basically have two choices. To go into the Honors Bachelors after 1 year in general or do the 3 years of the Ordinary bachelors and then go into year 3 of the Honors Bachelors. Both routes will take 5 years in total (1 extra year for a 4 year exam) but I'm not sure which is best. If I go straight into the Honors Bachelors... Comment too long. How to make money while in college full time? My New Years resolution is to make at least 30k this year, freshman btw. Any advice is welcome, no trolls please. I'm in Utah(U of U) btw if that makes a difference. Inb4 suck dick.
>>1023654 Looked into it a few years back (had no money, just a fantasy). Obviously gonna want a good location near peoples homes and commutes. If you live in a state where grocery stores can sell liquor/wine you probably won't want to be near one of those. Look up the laws on distribution where you live. In TN there is a three tier system where the brewers have to sell to distributors who can only sell to retailers. No one can skip these steps (except for "souveniers" you can buy at places like the Jack Daniels... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

Hey /biz/nessmen, I'm a 19 y/o and I come from a family of government workers. It's genuinely afforded me a good lifestyle, but for the average guy to become very wealthy it seems that starting a company is the way to go. The thing is, I'd have no idea where to start or what the nuances of starting a company are, because it requires a specific type of tenacity and creativity that I haven't been exposed to.
So. My question is, what are the biggest hurdles in starting a business and how would someone overcome them? Obviously the situation varies depending... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Hey /biz/ let's share your strangest business ideas you ever had, maybe it can be useful for some. I will tell mine, but I hardly think it's plausible.
So we had a project at college that we needed to come up with a so called "Student enterprise", and make a business plan draft for it. One of my friends in my group came up with a nice, socially responsible firm: Let's make instant soups that are nutritious, and in the meantime let's contribute to our local societies. The idea would be that one of the ingredients would have been... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>Create some shitty pair of sunglasses. >Give pairs out to a few Stacies and Chads on a college campus. >Offer them kickbacks of one or two percent per sale if they can sell any. >Rake in profits because college students are retarded.
