>Buy and hold they said >It will make you money they said I just need to make this thread to vent a little. I started investing with B&H around June, and since then the market has pretty much taking a huge dump, and I'm down 10% this year.
Not that great of a start to my investing career. I know it's all about short-term long term, but sometimes you just need to vent a bit.
Only President Sanders can save us from the monster that the financial industry has created. He will tame the beast rather than continuing to feed it our wellbeing. All the other candidates will continue to grow the monster.
>hurr durr he's going to raise my taxes even though I make less than $200k a year >I'm going to shitpost some kuck memes I found on the daily stormer
It's not so much the money, but the time wasted on women. I'm not writing off women here, but I've learned that most women aren't worth any kind of time investment. But when it comes to drinks and dates, money isn't an issue. If you're a decent person, it's all good.
I want your most esoteric stuff, the stuff buy-side analysts discuss behind closed doors. I don't want the buy low sell high or trend trading vanilla. I want to hear about the most creative and esoteric ideas you've stumbled across throughout your trading careers. I want exotic.
I guess I'll share one to kind of give an idea of what I am looking for:
I was big into stock options. I happened to stumble across this book that delved into the techniques of trading on, or around expiration Friday. The book... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I had an interesting thought... How exactly does crime/fraud interlink with Economics?
Of course in order to make money in society you need to provide value... But what if people are tricked or otherwise deceived in some way? There is lots of people who have amassed great wealth, not by providing value, but by stealing. What does that mean for an economy? What is the overall effect and result?
Is there any good books about this topic that could be recommended?
>>999938 Well I understand drugs and prostitution. It's just a simple transaction of product/service for money. That just so happens to be forbidden.
But what about stealing/fraud? There is certainly people with millions upon millions simply by stealing(as evident by such areas being valued as billion dollar industries per year)... But how does that work economically?
Basically how does the market respond to stealing/fraud in a purely capitalist way?
>first year of university >will have £25,000+ saved by the end of my degree >currently live outside of London >most likely going to work in London >don't know what to do housing wise when I get a job
should I live in or out of london? and should I rent for a few years first, or just straight up buy? A lot of people I know who are 22/23 don't have close to £25k in savings... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Depends, can you mitigate the costs of owning a home. Taxes, insurance, Maintenance, and mortgage interest.
as far as homes go 25k is a drop in the bucket. and if you're really going to get the compound savings affect of putting money into your home you'd need a house below around the 75k price. I'm pretty sure that buys you a shitty house in london. When leveraging assets you rarely want to leverage the cheap ones, you want to leverage the costly valuable ones.
also transfer costs for homes are not cheap expect to pay 2-3% of your purchase... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I'm 20, and after 3 sweet years my job has been cut short, my savings virtually gone and im back living in my parents house.
Doing nothing is driving me crazy, im sure lots of you know the feeling, the only things im doing with my time currently is learning russian and trying to apply to a university, i figured i got all this cash in the bank getting only $40 a month interest, might as well put it to use.
What would you do in such a situation? Anyone else feel like their life is at a standstill at the moment?
>>999697 Save into an ISA/Roth IRA/your nations equivalent via a low-fee broker, and diversify amongst stocks/bonds/other asset classes like property (not physical of course) with around 10k. If you are comfortable and your knowledge increases, invest more. Don't invest any money now that'll you'll be needing in a few months/years.
I've been thinking for a while that my town needs a dedicated music venue for the booming punk scene here. Currently, we set up in houses/basements where the owners are usually pretty reluctant, and sometimes it is troublesome finding a willing house. I think if there is a dedicated space, we can put our town on the map and draw some bigger name bands
So, there is this club that is relocating due to a dispute they had with their landlord. I would like to consider renting it and turning it into a venue for punk/metal/alt/folk/whatever bands but I... I'm young and have never done anything remotely resembling this. I do have a business degree and would be pretty comfortable with the financial side of things but that's about it
Is anyone willing to help me out here? Anybody have any idea what the monthly rent could be? There is a large banner outside of the club with a phone number but that's it, Google doesn't help. If I do this it would be a massive undertaking and I am unsure where to start. I should also mention that I am pretty confident I could find some angel investors *cough* family members *cough* that would be willing to throw me some bones if I make a solid business plan!
Your clientele is poor, or embellishes being poor, so acting poor.
Because you have a bottom line and business requirements, you will be viewed as the ideological enemy of your clientele. You'll be the despised fat cat who's profiteering off their "movement" while in reality your enterprise will be teetering on collapse each month.
>worked before, from McDonald's to 9-5 office job >finally get 'my career job' out of uni >just a mediocre 40 hour week drain same as all the others >losing motivation to read, socialise, play games or masturbate >haven't even experienced one of the lifetimes of work that awaits me

Guys tonight I had a dream and in my dream I was using an app. The app worked this way. Girls were advertising sexual services stating their price and posting a picture. Just by tapping on the girl you'd confirm the purchase (I assume paypal?). There were reviews and shit.
