Hey /biz/, is there any way to develop your charisma? Particularly, I wanted to be good at speaking English since it's a must in a business world, problem is that it's hard for me to speak clear and straight since I have a speech disorder, and being born in a non-English speaking country, I have literally nobody to talk to in English.
>>1070485 >The other way to develop it, is to interact properly with people. Which is hard.
I know this. People often give me this confused expression when I said something, it's as if I speak another language they're not familiar with. I had a hard time speaking with people especially when I get to talk about something since I couldn't come up with anything to say instantly unless I give myself some time to think of what to say first, or else I wouldn't know if I... I have a job interview for a position in PR & Communications coming up in a few days. It's a startup that supports its customers in legal affairs. The boss used to work for Accenture and already established and sold a successful startup before.
What does /biz/ think this guy might look for in an applicant for said position? Any tips or advice?
>be making 3 times the average household income as a single person.
Do you tell your friends how much you make? During conversations with friends, they mentioned their salary and I've always gotten away by giving them a ballpark figure. Most of us are in the same industry so they think they have an idea of my pay, but they always come under by at least 20k.
It's important to remember that "expected rate of return" has no bearing on the probability that the stock will increase in value. This is generally because the concept of "expected rate of return" on a volatile security is mostly bogus.
Let's say we had perfect information about the probability of the stock increasing (let's say it's 60%). Then, there's a 40% probability of the stock staying at the same value or decreasing.
But, there's no way to calculate the probability so it's just a farce.
>>1070388 So does CAPM (or any modified, more advanced method that might be similar) really help an individual investor?
The idea is just that if the stock is going to increase, it would be expected to increase by the rate of the expected rate of return?
And following up on that, would a measure of the volatility of a stock (beta) be any good indicator (at least in the short term, not long term) that a stock is going to increase rather than decrease or stay the same?

Hey /biz/ I decided I want to be an electrician. Is there anything I should be looking for specifically when it comes to trade schools? Any tips from any other electricians?
Also, I won't be starting until sometime after this summer, I'll be working in the meantime, but I was wondering if there are any books or online courses that could get me introduced to the field and maybe give me a head start. Thanks guys.
So penny stocks. A land full of scammers and pump and dumps correct?
In fact, all these REAL stories of young guys turning like 15k into 500k in a couple years or whatever.. Essentially their "strategies" revolve around pump and dumps correct? Either they pump stocks (illegal and RARE.. because the people who do this kind of shady shit remain in the shadows and aren't going to be all over the news).
Im just seeing if my logic is correct here and I get the whole picture. So essentially making money off of pump and dumps, is a strategy in itself right?... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>1070225 yep. funny you mention that because all these penny stock gurus like timothy sykes.. They do post all their trades and shit, and they DO make a lot of money.. but I bet they do some shady shit like preying on people who try and spot the dump.
So would you say theres MORE of people A , which include people making money off of preying on those trying to spot the dumps. Or more of people B people who just get really good at predicting and "catching" pumps.
Could you please give me a crude quick... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
