i know 4chan isn't a place to post these. but really need to talk to someone and this feels like rock bottom.
Basically i am... or was a eBay powerseller. with over 29,000 Feedback and over 100,000 sales.
They just messaged me "All your listings have been removed and you will no longer be able to sell on eBay" With no reason why.
i went from an income over $6,000 a month to an income of $0 in less then 10 minutes.
I'm seriously considering suicide as i have no college education, i put all my time and money into my eBay account, and it just started paying off a few years ago.
i've been with eBay FOR A LONG time.
ever since i graduated highschool i've been working on my account, buying from wholesellers and selling on eBay, i set up a customer support hotline for my customers and so much. it was an eBay empire.
and just like that, with no warning; and with no reason to why.
i was told to go fuck myself.
eBay plain out told me to go fuck myself.
here's a recording of the call: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvKwRUk2GZ0&feature=youtu.be
Sucks ass man. But it's not that big of a deal, you'll find something else. Just think of the skills you gained from this experience.
Just move on and you'll get over it. There's different platforms, etc.
Do you not have a lawyer? If you didn't violate their TOS they have no reason to suspend your account, especially if you're earning 6 grand a month with it.
Calling them on the phone is going to do nothing, but a letter from a lawyer will get your account back up in no time.
Stop acting like a spazz. While you can't really do anything over the phone if they're denying you, it's much more wise to use email correspondence to sort this. Either you will come to the bottom of it and your account will be restored, or nothing will change for you. The guy you spoke with clearly is a peon and probably can't do anything anyway; his job is to be a bitch on the phone and take shit from people like you who don't have much tact for dealing with when things go wrong. I imagine that people raging just walk away pissed (which is what your conduct sounds like) takes care of a lot of their problems. Instead, you could approach this in a more professional manner and pursue it until you're satisfied, whatever that might mean.
>Hiring a low to mid tier lawyer to fight a literal army of the highest tier lawyers
>Plus their ToS is written to the thinest hair and explicitly mentions they can close it for any reason they deem valid
Fam it's better to just move on.
>implying eBay won't just put the account back to avoid going to court for such a trivial matter
Obviously if they tell the lawyer to fuck off don't bother taking them to court, but 9 times out of 10 a written lawyer letter will make them reinstate you account unless OP was actually violating their rules.
If OP is serious about not having done anything wrong and earning 6k a month with it, going to a lawyer is definitely worth a shot.
...There has to be a story here.
What were you selling? How were you acquiring it? What was the condition of your goods?
I don't buy that Ebay just shut down your account for no reason, there must have been some suspicions of something....
Ebay has absolute shit customer service, but there must be something you are not telling us OP....
Not necessarily, eBay and Paypal have a history of randomly screwing with people's businesses because of the trained monkeys they have working in their customer service departments. People have gone bankrupt because Paypal just decided to freeze their accounts for months while they "investigated". Tbh eBay and Paypal are pretty shit to do business on.
Its a private company, not a government service or a public utility. They have the right to decline doing business with you for any non-discriminatory reason. Since you sound like a white (whiny) male, you have no legal claim at all.
Also, quit spazzing over the statements of some entry level customer service drone. His statements aren't even going to binding on the company because any decision about your account was made above his pay grade.
You think you have a legitimate dispute with ebay? Fine, be a fucking adult and handle it. But please stop acting like an entitled Millennial cunt and making Youtube videos and gofundme campaigns to bitch about the many injustices in your life. Its pathetic.
It's not just him. They will randomly shut your store down. Even if you don't violate their terms of service. It has nothing to do with entitlements or being a millennial. Fuck off, idiot.
Make some noise on Reddit. Seriously. Go check a list of the main subreddits and post this on the most relevant one (and also crosspost on the relevant subreddits).
If they pick it up it could go viral and Ebay will probably do something about it.
That's terrible bro.
Legal recourse without knowing the reason won't help. They got a shit load of people and money while you'll have to spend your time and money and nothing will be guaranteed.
Did you check the eBay forums?
Like some anon suggested, try email. Most of the jerks on phone are just fuckin trash.
Meanwhile, set shop on some other ecom sites.
Sucks to be you but you're not really the most adept person on the phone are you?
If you want to have any chance at all (yet still slim) to get anything done from these phonerats you can't go all berserk on them. You didn't even use any arguments to prove that you indeed had an insane amount of positive feedback and over 100.000 sales.
Maybe this guy won't be able to help you either way but at least the atmosphere of future communications would be a lot different.
Sucks to lose out on that amount of money but in the end, legally seen, they have no requirement to tell you why they banned you. The reason only needs to be seen as valid by ebay, which is fucked up but lega, and can thus essentially be anything except for discrimination reasons, in which case you can take legal steps.
Go to the press, go to social media, make some fucking noise about this. Don't give up without a fight.
And I bet you could make another killer e-commerce site or get a really good job at a digital marketing agency with that experience. There are many possibilities.
or go over their heads to a higher up
>The officers serving with him in the siege were incompetent, and he was becoming concerned about the needless delays due to these officers' mistakes. He was so concerned that he wrote a letter of appeal to the Committee of Public Safety requesting assistance. To deal with his superiors who were wanting in skill, he proposed the appointment of a general for command of the artillery, succeeding himself, so that "... (they could) command respect and deal with a crowd of fools on the staff with whom one has constantly to argue and lay down the law in order to overcome their prejudices and make them take steps which theory and practice alike have shown to be axiomatic to any trained officer of this corps".
Holy crap slow down fgt. Ebay is on the way out as well - get your ass to Amazon and start selling there. You got years of experience of selling shit.
OR just open your own store with Shopify and never be closed out again.
I'm impartial to OP's issue, but I can offer an explanation for what eBay is doing here. I'm friends with somebody who works for eBay corporate. We actually had a discussion over this exact issue. Here's the gist:
Somehow, somewhere OP's account was flagged as "high risk". Having a high seller rating (100%, 99%, etc.) wasn't going to save him. What killed him was buyer feedback. There may have been disgruntled buyers who were unhappy with the shipping costs, shipping times, or may have had buyer's remorse.
Let me explain:
Have you ever placed feedback for a purchase? You would have seen a five star rating system for..
It is the best interest for the seller to receive *at least* 4 stars on each criteria. Anything lower, and you've been flagged. If you've been flagged, you are considered to be *below standard*. With over 100,000 transactions, OP has most likely accrued many ratings below 4 stars. It's hard to be perfect. You can't make everybody happy. There will always be that *one* customer that will never be satisfied and will give a lukewarm, 3 star review. The seller is at the mercy of the buyer, and thus the seller must do everything in his power to give the best customer service. But like I said, it's hard to be perfect.
Pretty much everybody gets flagged at least a couple of times, and sub-standard transactions are not uncommon. It's not like eBay will end up suspending your account activity after getting flagged once, but your account will end up in a "matrix". An algorithm. And eBay will regularly yank out accounts from this algorithm for "quality control".
In other words, OP has won the lottery.
That's a nice pepe OP, do you mind if I save it? Here's a pepe for you either way.
OP that's a fuckin Indian guy in a local call center here
Better communicate via email and try to get in touch with their immediate supervisor or insist on talking to someone back in the US
>It's not just him. They will randomly shut your store down. Even if you don't violate their terms of service. It has nothing to do with entitlements or being a millennial.
Reading comprehension not your strong suit, kid?
Ebay doesn't have to do business with anyone they don't want to. OP, you, or anyone else. They can legally tell you to fuck off for any reason, or for no reason at all. The only thing they can't do is discriminate against protected classes, and that only applies in jurisdictions (such as the US) with applicable laws.
You don't like it? Then go somewhere else. Or create your own online market. Its a free country.
But stop bitching about private companies as if they were a public utility. You have no entitlement to service from ebay, and when you claim otherwise you sound like an ignorant cunt.
>Go to the press, go to social media, make some fucking noise about this.
Typical Millennial loser reaction. Something bad happened in my life? LETS NOT TRY TO SOLVE IT AN INSTEAD LETS POST TO FACEBOOK, TWITTER, AND INSTAGRAM!
The mere existence of the "fml" meme proves you entitled shits are the worst generation in a hundred years.
Fuck off. No one cares. Grow up and handle your shit like an adult.
So much this, OP. Please tell me you saved up your money so that you could invest it in something else. This kind of stuff does happen, and it's a real shame, but there are ways to turn it completely around and this is one of them.
>livelihood from eBay
It's a terrible thing, but as a side gig it's awesome.
It's been a great supplemental income for me while I was in college. I had scholarship money, money from side jobs, and money from eBay and Amazon sales. It's unfortunate to see eBay on its way out.. I remember using the money from online sales to pay off my rent and groceries. Good times.
well you were bieng aggressive and bullying the one person that can probably activate your account agian..might of not been the best idea..but anyways call back, this person could of been a dumbfuck and ask for a supervisor but DONT get all pissy or whiny. be calm and collective as if your trying to "fix" a possible issue on your end
Proven? Why? Because a few people with legitimate grievances have seen redress?
Compared to the billions (not exaggerating) of whiny bitching attempts at corporate shaming trolled by your generation.
What's really sad is that Millennials are not only incapable of dealing with their own problems, but they can;t even tackle real world problems either. Social injustice? Start an online petition. Poverty? Post a meme.
I truly hope your kids prove to be a better class of humans than your generation. Otherwise it might actually be time to turn over the reigns.
>just because you word your statements aggressively doesn't make you right
No, it makes me funny. Or more accurately stated: I find it funny to make fun of retards like you.
>and it definitely doesn't make you smart.
And yet you're too stupid to point out anything that I said that was wrong. Strong logic there, shortbus.
>all that impotent libertardian rage
this kid completely misses the point of something called a partnership. By selling on eBay you provide value to them. By providing a platform for you to sell on eBay provides value to you.
eBay and Amazon are both known to jump on successful products and take them over. Shopify, your own store within a store directory is the future.
I used to work for a company that had like 30 ebay accounts with 10k feedback each and one day they bought too much of a particular sale item on eBay and they all got banned hahahaha. And eBay wouldn't unban them for any reason or no matter what. Such a stupid way to do business.
>the point of something called a partnership
And you miss the point that if ebay chooses to end this "partnership" for any reason at all, its their legal right to do so. Stop being stupid.
>Arbitrarily closing an account in this fashion exposes them to civil suits. A judge can simply decide that they were unreasonable and order them to compensate the seller.
Wrong. ebay doesn't have any legal duty to continue business with OP, you, or anyone else.
Furthermore, the fact that it was arbitrary is further evidence that it was perfectly legal. The only way ebay could have gotten in trouble is if they terminated the relationship for a non-arbitrary reason.
>Now tell me one reason OP shouldn't spread the news around anywhere he can so that every other seller knows that eBay likes to end partnerships with its sellers.
Because its not how adults handle business matters. OP clearly wishes he could resume selling on ebay. And yet instead of pursing available channels to mediate a mutually successful resolution, he instead whines and cries all over social media. Not only is it childish, but its all but guaranteed to seal OP's fate.
Hence my comment about the stupidity of your generation. Your first reaction to perceived "grievances" is to complain about them on the internet. This makes you look like whining babies to those of us who were raised to act like adults and solve our problems like adults.
Sure it may be childish, but thats a trickle of information new sellers need to know that eBay has a shitty side for them. Old sellers can start covering their bases and migrating off eBay.
Are you a boomer or something? On 4chan?
I listened to the customer service call. OP just lost his mind at the end. He was laughing like Joker of Batman.
>over $6,000 a month
How much money do you have right now?
Oh I'll try.
I found biz via some of our young analysts in our oil trading group. Being an oldfag as 4chan posters refer to us, I watched this space for the "lulz" as you guys state so often. So I thought I saw a pattern in posting cycles about oil and made some bets and they turned out good for us. Most recently was the October 1 through 5 time frame during the Chinese weeklong holiday. About 3 days prior to October 1, biz produced a lot of posts about oil prices. More so than in the prior 3 weeks. We made a big bet that oil price volatility would spike, it did, and we benefitted. So, biz post frequency was part of that model.
I guess that's it. we kekked a lot about it afterwards and bought a chip warmer to celebrate.
OP did you ever get this figured out?
I sell on eBay for a living, making like 5 times less than you do.
What was your standing? Above standard, or below standard? Was there any warning whatsoever? This scares the shit out of me.
That's where you get the things to sell...
Why would you compete with the manufacturer...
This, lol I keep getting my negative feedbacks removed.
One day I know eBay will catch on even though 90% of the feedbacks are for buyer stupidity.
Op should've had a site by now, if anything he still has Amazon's FBA to fall back on. Or have other sites like NewEgg sell his shit for him if he's banned there too :^)
Lots of posts on page 2 of this forum about DGAZ. More than in the last 10 days. I bet something big happens in natural gas pricing in the day session of Henry Hub natural gas futures. I guess we'll see.
what'd you sell?
I think you really just need to calm down OP. Start researching this issue, figure out what went wrong and start contacting eBay (Find people who can help you or talk to you further on it). If it doesn't go well or you feel like you need help, find and ask someone who can help you like an experienced friend or lawyer if you can afford it.
The guy on the phone is just some guy listening to you whine. It doesn't sound like he was going to help you. Ring them back until you get someone who knows what is going on. Email them. You need to calm down and go about this professionally. Getting upset about it won't help you. You will just make it worse. From what you have said it sounds unfair but that doesn't mean you need to whine and go off at random nobodies on the phone. Like other's have said, get your shit together, start figure out what is going on and what you can do to solve this issue.
Also if it helps, try putting yourself in that guy's shoes. If you worked at a call center for eBay and someone who was upset and angry was asking you if you are telling him to go fuck himself, what would you do? Make it easy. It may just be a mixup. This is a serious situation. If you screwed up, just come clean. Apologize. Say it will never happen again. Otherwise be honest and try to find a solution
>back in muh days when someone wronged you, we dueled with our superior katanas folded six million times to settle the matter. Now you youngsters use some pussy ass "law", fucking moron, act like a man
back in your days there was competition and customers mattered. Ebay is an example of a XXI century monopoly and individuals are literal nothings nowadays.
Times change, methods change. OP has means to contact people who might support his cause which incerases his relevance and might eventually lead to a possible overturn of the company's decision.
To a rotting grandpa like you this might seem like whining, but to someone who isn't one leg in his grave like me it looks like the OP is gathering information and support while boosting his morale. That's far better than doing nothing.
>Ebay is an example of a XXI century monopoly
No its not. Monopolies in the United States are regulated by the Department of Justice. If ebay had sufficient market power to trigger concern, then regulations would apply.
If you, the consumer, believe you've been aggrieved, then legal remedies exist. An adult would avail themselves of these options.
A pussy would cry on social media about it.
Stop pretending that all the world's troubles are new to your generation. You're not special, snowflake.
Pops just doesn't get how information like that is valuable to all sellers in an ecosystem. He's saying that stifling the flow of information is good because "man up and sheeit". He's probably just buttmad about OPs sales.
Those are made by people who are supposed to be regulated. If you don't see that then you're either naive or stupid.
Legal remedies work only if you're big (and OP isn't), or if you were wronged on a level that would make Stalin go "man, that's not cool"
>no it's not
Really? Show me an international auction site like this that's not a literal who
>Those are made by people who are supposed to be regulated
Wow, are you Millennials actually this dumb? Google "School House Rock I'm Just a Bill" because I'm not sure you're ready for adult explanations.
>Legal remedies work only if you're big (and OP isn't), or if you were wronged on a level that would make Stalin go "man, that's not cool"
Kek. The modern class action system makes it trivial (and lucrative) to pursue legal claims like this ... if there were a legal violation here. If what OP claims happened was illegal, then some contingency lawyer would have filed a class action suit immediately.
>Show me an international auction site like this that's not a literal who
>He's probably just buttmad about OPs sales.
If only you knew how stupid this comment actually is. But I don't feel like opening that can of worms right now. This thread is about how shitty Millennials are, not about me.
it might be legal for me to fuck your mom and woman (assuming you have one) in all holes, upload the video online with their consent and show it to everyone you know, but that'd still be douchey wouldn't it.
Just because something is legal doesn't mean it's just or the right thing to do. OP believes he got fucked for no reason and tries to do something about it.
Also maybe back in your age, "moron" was a way of responding without any actual argument, but nowadays it just make you look juvenile. Is that a way of making yourself feel young?
>makes mom jokes
>calls me juvenile
>Also maybe back in your age, "moron" was a way of responding without any actual argument, but nowadays it just make you look juvenile. Is that a way of making yourself feel young?
No, it's my way of insulting your intelligence. It's not that complicated. Don't read between the lines; stick with the literal meaning, sparky. I'm calling you a moron. I.e., I'm saying you're stupid, dull, retarded, dim, and obtuse. In other words, you're a fucking idiot.
All clear now?
It wasn't a joke, it was an example. I wasn't sure whether you're naively law-abiding or stupid, so I wanted to be certain that even a total retard could relate.
You can keep throwing ad hominem attacks all you want, I'll be back once you're ready to have a conversation that involves actual arguments. I'm sure that your grandpa pride won't let me have the last word.
I'm the only person who's articulated an intelligent point in the thread. You? Not so much.
So, no, I won't be arguing with myself. Say something that adds to the conversation, and perhaps people will respond (maybe even me). But put some effort into it, ok? Your attention whoring is getting old.
You're like one of those little peon minions who toady up to others. "Good one, boss! You show'd 'em!" Except your hero is a moron. Guess what that makes you?
Your only argument so far was "Be an adult, don't whine on social media. Fucking kids these days."
Which is more of a personal opinion than anything. Good for you, I don't see anything intelligent about it though.
Then you started to call everyone who disagreed with your opinion morons.
I'm still waiting for that example of an auction site that's remotely close to ebay in scope and popularity.
I had a similar instance with Youtube. Sending a virtual hug of sympathy.
