So Urban Fairytale next week! Is anyone going? Thoughts, opinions, expectations? Afaik people got very salty about the VIP ticket raffle system. Will this one turn out good, or is Germany heading into another disaster like the Hamburg one last year?
Also feel free of course to talk about any other German event, con, comm, and drama!
Ill be attending Urban Fairytale. desu im salty about the VIP raffle especially because i was under the impression non EU members had their own pool of tickets, including VIP tickets. I think i was incorrect so im pretty bummed. Other than that i think itll be a good event. Im only a bit relieved because i realized i dont have all pieces to my baby coord and i would be embarrassed to be closer to the baby designers not wearing baby. On that note, does VIP get to interact with them or is it just a chance to possibly interact with them? Im attending alone on saturday, so i hope i can still enjoy myself. Im curious if seating is premade or if everyone just awkwardly finds tables to sit at.
Ill also be attending AnimagiC because i got tickets for my birthday but i heard its not that great for lolitas and its not worth buying tickets to get inside? Any more opinions from lolitas?
>>9105845 I *think* as a VIP you get to somewhat interact with them, like having a toast and maybe take some pictures during early entry. But to be honest every event I attended with celebrity guests, usually you don't get to interact that much. There are too many people, and often they don't have a translator on hand so if you don't speak Japanese, there's no real way to talk to the guests. But I'm just interested in taking some pictures, and watching the Q&A later.

I'm primarily sweet. However, I love all the styles, and want to be able to do whichever whenever i want. So, I don't do the switching styles thing. I have a bit of everything. I know that makes it a pain when it comes to wardrobe building, but I don't care. I'll get everything how I like it eventually.
>>9104601 Your eyes are stunning! Love the dress too!
Here's a crappy cell phone pic of my Rapunzel. I don't really like self posting on /cgl/ anymore which is why I picked this zoomed out photo but I really wanted to share this spot. It's a gorgeous church in my city built in the late 1800s. We're definitely returning for a proper photoshoot soon, especially since it has a pretty garden that would work for Cinderella.
Am I the only one that doesn't like jewelry/wristcuffs? I feel like without rings, bracelets, and wristcuffs my coords are never complete but even in normal fashion I've never worn things on my hands or wrists.
Hey /cgl/, I'd like to ask about what kinds of meetups your comm does. Mine is small and hardly meets up in person, but it's not really a fashionable city that I feel comfortable going alone in Lolita. Plus, I'd really like to become better friends with the girls. Some questions:
>What was your favorite meet? (please give me lots of ideas actually, anything you can think of) >Do you meet up more than once a month as a comm? >How long/how many meets do you think someone should be in the comm before planning something?
I will add: summer weather here is terrible, upwards of 110°F/40°C until about September. So botanical gardens and the like are not really a thing here until winter.
Are you in my city? Because it sounds like you are.
My first meet was Summer ILD '16, so not too long ago. I jumped in to help as soon as I arrived, the event got started smoothly, pictures first, socializing, a couple ice breakers and introductions all around, games, prizes doled out, competition, prizes, socializing, last pictures, fin.
Very hot out, but despite some melted eyelash glue all was well. The offerings were all a little too sweet for me, but the sanwiches were good. I definitely encourage water as a staple if you're serving any alcohol.

>>9102264 one of my favorite meets we did was going to a handmade craft fair, we all got some really cute accessories and stuff. But I live where there are lots of Asian people and so it's easy to find loliables. Other things we do are go to tea/cafes (again we have some "kawaii" cafes), art exhibits, etc. I'm lucky my city is pretty culturally active. we tend to have a lot of different things we can go to.
Some members from a nearby community are coming to my city. Their city is wonderful and has great places for meet ups. Mine is lacking. I am thinking of organising a picnic so we don't have to go to somewhere less than ideal. Does anyone have any picnic stories/ideas? What about rain-day alternatives?
I want to request old photo-shoots specifically. I really love seeing those.
I will do a small dump of some pictures I have in a few minutes. I have something I need to do first. Sorry about that.
I'm not a cgl regular, not really a fan of it, but I decided to start this thread because I'm feeling very sad and alone and I don't have any friends to talk to. I was hoping some vague human interaction and some happy nostalgia would take my mind off things.
Now that ZTD has been out, let's see some good ones! I know that you gulls aren't strangers to the series. Starting off with a selfpost that exploded a few months ago, posting individual shots of everyone too.
>>9097650 kind of related: FINALLY the organizers translated the 6.0 rulebook of Drachenfest to english... kind of. Still missing two chapters. and there are still german sentences in there and the translation still kind of bad. at some places but whatever. http://www.drachenfest.info/df/index.php?article_id=50&clang=0
I only been to Hoshicon once (last year) And there was nothing memorable about it. If you have to drive 3 hours, I don't suggest at all. I am going mainly to mess around in Charlotte, probably going to buy a badge on Sunday.
Anyone ever deal with some seriously psycho lolitas?
>new girl in my comm (we'll call her Ashley) awk af around our most internet popular girl (we'll call her Trixie) >is like awkward weeaboo fangirl bingo; cheap attempt at mimicing her style, calls her "senpai", comments on everything she posts to Instagram, treats her like some sort of ultra famous celebrity >Trixie finds it cute and she's super sweet about it >bad move. apparently girl gets wrong impression and starts clinging to her at every meet as if they're bffs. >Trixie sometimes visibly uncomfortable, but too nice (or possibly scared) to tell her to chill >Ashley starts showing very obvious signs of wanting to wear her skin; gets the same tattoo as her (a very specific Sailor Moon design that I have never seen on anyone else and I even actively did a search online for it), copies her hair style (has her long blonde hair cut into a short angled lavender bob with bangs), make up, and even styles her Tumblr very similarly, as well as adapting her mannerisms and typing style >she also mimics her interests, most of which were things she has never expressed love over before her obsession with Trixie started >Trixie tells a mutual of ours (who later shared all the details of this entire situation with me) that she is starting to get very creeped out >Trixie starts getting anonymous Tumblr messages about how much this person loves her and wants to be her best friend >she obviously assumes it's Ashley (Pt. 1)
(Pt. 2) >she ignores them >a few weeks later, she gets more and they're worse >telling her how horrible and snobby she is, and how she hopes she kills herself >she blocks them >at next meet she confronts Ashley and asks her to prove it wasn't her by reblogging something from her Tumblr >Ashley cannot do this, proving it was her >she cries and says... How do all you cosplayers and lolitas support yourselves and your hobbies? I'm talking about paying the bills, not just living with your parents and working part time for minimum wage. I'm wondering if there's a variety of different career choices or if most of us gravitate towards the same kind of work
I've worked in tech support most of the time, if you know how to deal with morons you can get a pretty high salary. The best money is in night/holiday shifts which are usually when support is in low demand anyways so you get money for goofing off. Also as long as it's not face-to-face support no one cares how you dress, just don't let it get in the way of your typing or headset and everything is fine.
David Vincent's voice acting panel was complete bullshit today at Anime Austin due to his failed attempt to not be biased, he chose the woman (who claimed to be a mother) to do the picking for her and she chose a literal pedophile to come on stage.
No offense to David Vincent, but PLEASE choose your volunteers yourself dude.
Also Anime Austin and Anime Overload was the same con. If you didn't go, you didn't miss much.
Also if you're good at smash, just go the anime cons for the free money, I swear to god if another low ranking texas smasher wins more than $50 at an anime convention tournament again, I'm going to break the consoles before the event.
Sup /cgl/ cosplay newfag here. This will be my year going to a convention and after taking a bunch of pictures of cosplayers, I want to give it a spin for myself. I am far too unskilled with any form of sewing or crafting and a con I plan on attending is coming up in a couple of months, so would any of you happen to know of someone who is CURRENTLY open to a cosplay commission that can be completed and shipped before the end of August? I was hoping to request a samurai 2hu, or perhaps if they're experienced enough with armor crafting; the Firelink armor set from Dark Souls... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

My first con was three years ago so I'm relatively new to the scene and I'm a poorfag who doesn't live especially close to any cons so I don't get to go to many each year but my first con was honestly one of the if not the singular best experience of my life, I was so nervous in the weeks leading up to it because I was working on my first cosplay and I didn't know exactly what to expect since the only things I had to base what a con was like was hearsay and convention music videos i was obsessed with back in like 2009 and I thought it might not live... >>9099072 I would say it's the opposite. More and more people are aware of it and getting into it.
AP increased their stock and are re-releasing more so there are less blood bath sell outs and thats great. They sucked. Why would you want to go back to that? Also there is a new release every week and I don't think even the rich lolitas care to keep up with that. There are more dresses available and it's amazing.

>>9093513 Sticking to groups that are RL meet-up centered and to places where your real name and photos are looked up helps avoid them. So do good meet guidelines that require actual coordinates after a couple of meets. They usually drop out sooner in these places. I'm sure the threads here are full of bitter poor fats criticizing and even many lolita pretenders, you can tell this easily by many of the replies and posts.
Thread Guidelines: - cosplay and lolita welcome - please list your location and any shipping restrictions you have - leave contact info you actually check!
General buying and selling tips: - have feedback ready if you can - have proof pictures ready - always ship with tracking - never do a transaction with someone you're uncomfortable with - don't name & shame without contacting the buyer or seller first
WTS: AP's Magical Etoile Square OP in Mint - $130 + shipping. Bought from Lolita Desu and worn a few times. No visible flaws. BTSSB Sailor Blouse - $40 + shipping. Bought it secondhand and never wore it. Seller said there was a mark on the back but I'm having a hard time finding it.
Using pics I found online because I'm not home. If you're interested, email me and I'll take some to send to you. I'll also track down measurements as well.
I ship from the US. Open to offers and trades for other AP dresses/blouses/etc.
