I learned my lesson in the past that the series must finish airing first before any real purchases of fabric or wigs are made, since shows can end in extreme disappointment. All reference-gathering and planning during the broadcast time is fine though.
Currently I'm looking at Kiznaiver and Hai-Furi like a hawk to see if they continue their course. Macross Delta would be a candidate, too, if it wasn't in such a licensing purgatory that not even official subs can be made for it.
>>8984571 Glad that you learn your lesson really. People need to realize that series can change drastically halfway throughout the airing. What if the character has a different personality later? What if the character died? What if the series shift direction and went shit? So many possibilites. But well I've seen some people genuinely don't care about the show as they only like the chara design, so yeah.
I'm cosplaying Nina from FEif and I'm not sure what I want to do for the striped pants/leggings. I have some white and black striped leggings that I can dye so that the white instead is grey, but my only gripe is that I don't like how the stripes aren't continuous on leggings since you have to cut the striped fabric and the lines along the seam don't line up. I wanted to use striped tights instead, since the stripes are continuous, but the only true opaque black and white striped tights that I could I found have really wide stripes that I'm not... >>8979563 >Why does everyone who cosplay's as a hobby creates a facebook page to post their once or twice a year cosplay? because all it takes is one person you know to make one, then two then suddenly its the must have thing
>Who's it for and what's the point? People who make them very quickly loose interest and stop updating them.
>>8979563 >Or worse people who make a patreon to fund their cosplay with nothing to offer their donors. Prestige
I know it sounds like bullshit but the mere fact that someone has a donor seems to inflate their ego and what they view their status to be to that of a quasi-professional cosplayer, regardless of skill or popularity.
Last night i had a dream about lolita and when i woke up i wondered if any of you ever had a /cgl/ related dream?
>Dream i am with my two lolita friends in Paris >we go to a tea party >we come in but we have to wear cat ears to enter >once inside there is a big tombola with Misako and Mr Yan speaking in japanese >i can totally understand despite only speaking a lick of japanese >the tea is disgusting and a lolita is scandalized about how there isnt pizza >an ancient efamous lolita whispers to me "psst anon go under the table to make it change" >to make change what? >whatever, go under the table >wake up

I'm running low on my It's Skin VC effector and I'm kind of curious about other vitamin c serums. Has anyone dropped this one for something better or should I just order another bottle of the same thing? I've experienced good results with this serum lightening my PIH, which is basically the only reason I use it. My skin isn't sensitive but I'm prone to acne in my eyebrows and jawline and the PIH sticks around for so goddamn long if I don't treat it.
I plan on going to wdw in lolita a lot since I start working there in august, the tips ive been told for making it work are basically
>dont dress up like one of the princesses >dont use the same colors as the princesses >dont let people take pictures of you >try to wear mickey ears with your coord to show youre a visitor not an actor >generally do not draw attention to yourself more than it already will be
>>8987287 Hey nice. Glad to hear it, thanks for the opinion. I saw that they have a schedule of events posted now so I'll have to give that a thorough look. I'm just not even sure what to start lol, I've never done anything like this.
If you don't mind, are there any particular events/days that you recommend? I live in southern IL so I'd just go one day.
I went to ASTL in 2013, only time I've been there because it's pretty far for me and a friend of mine needed 2 more people for her hotel room.
It was okay. For some reason, they closed the convention center in the middle of the night so everyone was locked out. Either this is a normal thing and no one told me, or they were being dicks that year in particular. Didn't really affect me majorly either way.
The people seemed pretty stuck up and it was hard to find people who were willing to have a conversation for more than a minute. Staffers were nice.... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>8981767 Overall not a bad con, certainly less debilitating drama than years past. The artists alley had shit in terms of pins though. Thinking I'll do a table with a couple friends of mine next time around.
Found some cool cosplays, but didn't get photos of pretty much any of them. I did pick up a really cool thing of layered paper art from AA. Don't remember who the artist was, but pic related is a pic I took of the thing.
Seems Santa was back again from last year, same cosplayer, new outfit. They actually passed out presents this year, which seemed kinda cool.
>>8977892 Babies 0-4 do not do well at cons and can get trampled, stolen or sick. However 5+ seem like an ok age to bring along, as long as the parent watches them and leaves as soon as the kid becomes miserable. Some young kids enjoy cons and its a magical experience where all these superheroes are walking around in front of their very eyes. Parents who neglect, ignore or use their children as props purely because they want to have fun need to be shot and their kids handed over to CPS. I hear too many stories of... Comment too long. It feels awesome when you see someone's face light up when they get excited when they see who you're dressed as, being their favorite character or something, but it feels even more genuine with a kid. A lot of the time with adults, they compliment you based on, "Hey, you got that buckle and patch right, most don't." But with kids, they're just super excited to see their hero. I... I remember one year when this guy parked his baby cart (baby included) flush against my artist alley table so he could go play in the Yu Gi Oh tournament a good 50 feet away. It wasn't an immediate brb, as weird as that would still be. The guy was gone a good half hour before I visibly saw him just hanging out playing Yu Gi Oh. 'Bout lost my fucking mind.
I had to find someone to watch my table for a sec while I carefully go move the baby cart back to the shitty dad, to which he starts freaking out at me about what the fuck I'm doing.
I get back and apparently the fucking mother with second baby sit at my table (as the guy I asked to watch my table has an emergency and had to run and wound up asking this lady as he knew her) and this one's little baby was eating my markers because the mom was not paying attention either. Fortunately they were crayola, but god fucking damn. Apparently they liked my table because it was the one within eyeshot of the YGO tournament. I try and chill out and I guess I wound up being really nice to the lady (for having a spare chair for her to sit in I guess and not cussing her or her shitty husband out). For some reason she liked me and found me on Facebook, where she proceeded to tag me in 500 pictures as Joey Wheeler and her friends as other anime characters.
Tangents aside, those parents never paid attention to their kids at cons or other events (a while later I stepped out for a smoke and found one of the babies, now able to walk, outside alone in the parking lot of a Japanese-themed arcade at 1 in the morning-- this is a shady af area of Las Vegas too-- a lot of locals were staying overnight inside the arcade for a lock-in). Shitty parents. I brought the kid in and told the parents to get a sitter or go the fuck home.
I've heard they've had CPS called on them, but I've also seen them recently with the kids. Typical, jobless bums that go to every local event they can with their untamed, unsupervised rugrats.
First one: sewing an all white costume, I sewed through my index finger and broke off the needle in my nail, with the point sticking out the pads of my finger. I was able to remove it with tweezers, but that might be the most painful thing I've ever done.
My cosplay friend, upon hearing the story asked the important question: "Did you get any blood on the fabric?"
Second one: I was using a hot knife to cut through some plastic when the knife slipped and stabbed me in the thumb. It didn't cauterize the wound... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>8988133 It's a well known fact that the more attractive you are the more you can get away with things that people would hate on less fortunate people. If you aren't a 10/10 or at least an 8/10 like most people who model things it can be hard to know if it will suit you.
>>8987393 Kek the mouth upside down really got me can we make this a general terrible online shopping experiences thread >tfw i really like rilakkuma and want to hug you It's like his retarded brother. Rehlehkehmeh.
>>8985892 I'm not. My friends invited a retard. I've never had a con or anything go right in my life because they always invite the worst people or some dumb shit happens to me. I have friends that could have gotten us in for free but they didn't go because they hate meeting new people.
No actually cares, but it's definitely noticeable when someone is wearing Party City cheap spandex Spiderman versus someone who either comissioned or handmade their work well. It might be better to buy off the rack if you don't believe in your skillmanship.
I think most people who buy off the rack aren't planning on entering contests or asking for photos but are just dressing up to have fun and fit in outside of Halloween. Like you wouldn't even be mad if someone spilled beer on your suit, you know?
> Can they ever work? Yes > Socks or no socks? Either
I don't see any reason why sandals would not work with lolita. I know some people freak out when you don't wear the perfect legwear with your coord.. I wonder if those people wear lolita often, if so they must be so tiring to themselves with all the limits they come up with. I have even worn espadrilles with lolita before.
>>8985352 >I wonder if those people wear lolita often I was having a discussion about sneakers in lolita and people would keep telling me to get teaparties or other low heeled shoes, because "they're just as comfortable" or just not wear lolita at all. I honestly think those who are so obsessed about it only wear lolita to events. Even if TP's are a comfortable shoes, it's not something comfortable enough that I would wear them on the daily.
I think Ackson-style cosplay videos are the most boring thing I've ever seen.
Cosplay photography isn't usually particularly exciting, but the subject matter and the fact that 99% is shot at cons is pretty restricting. Taking it to the next level would require the logistics that professional fashion photography does, and very few of us on the photog or cosplayer sides can afford that.
definitely con videography style differs between photographers and you'll see various things if you look at other photographers. it makes sense that a singular person uses the same style but refines it over time. if you want different stuff look elsewhere. con videography is the same even between different people. there's no styles, just the one with the music and the spinning. if anything that's why ackson got out of the game because he was just doing the same shit and then others were copying him so it was no longer special. no one has changed it up at all.
>>8983881 Cosplay photography is getting boring to me but I think its because I see it more. The main issue lies with what the cosplayers want. Popular cosplayers only want glamor shots and regular cosplayers want more photos that show off the costume and make them look good as they want to show the pics off.
As a result you get a lot of boring flat pictures of cosplyers standing in empty space. Sure you get a pose and some neat faces but you get something with little storytelling or emotion. I'm not asking for... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
