Let's have a new thread since one of the biggest events is coming up soon (Dokomi 2016: 30.april - 1.may in Düsseldorf). Also Japantag isn't so far away (30.may in Düsseldorf). All other German speaker from our neighbors are welcome too.
>Are you cosplaying/wearing jfash? >Plans for Dokomi/this year in general? >What do you think about german cons and other japan related events? >Ever been to a con abroad?Better/worse?
Today's the last day of Animuc, aka the only con in Bavaria (i didn't go this year) I'm kinda looking forward to Japanfest in Munich, our comm always holds a meetup there and the scenery is lovely, plus there's always some interesting food stands and other stuff
>>8943944 >Are you cosplaying/wearing jfash? Wearing Lolita to both of the events metioned on the OP. My comm's members will mostly attend as well.
>Plans for Dokomi/this year in general? Going all three days (Tea Party, Saturday and Sunday) hoping to be graced by Misako. Otherwise, I'll mosty go to the AA. I'm playing with the thought of doing an AA table one day myself, so I'll be checking everything out. I'll buy everything I like there, and plan to spend most of my budget on AA. As said, it can't hurt to check out fellow artists and see what they produce, sell and have some reference as well as nice artwork. Otherwise I'll go to the fashion show, laugh at weeaboos and look what my friends are up to.
>What do you think about german cons and other japan related events? >Ever been to a con abroad?Better/worse? Not me, but maybe other Anons?
I've noticed that merch is EXTREMLY overpriced. Last two cons I went to, (official) merchandise like figures, figma or bags/accessories where double and triple the original retail price, which is just laughable. Even if you negotiate them down a bit, it's still cheaper to fly that stuff in from Japan and pay customs than buying it at the convention. Weirdly plushies seem to be the exception, these are usually reasonably priced.
Need help, I'm going to a con and need three coords. One I am sure about so I won't bother posting it. I have a few questions on these. One, should I coord the dress on the left with pink accessories or brown (or both, and how?), and which shoes? Two, what neckline blouse for the pink dress, the square or high neck? Three, should I wear brown shoes or navy? Are two small bows for my hair enough, or do I need more, and what color (besides sax, I don't have any in sax). Finally, needing some hair/ wig style advice. I usually just wear a plain wig or curl my hair... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>8936583 Anon, if you're taking all of this in a suitcase then we need to see the first coord. Try bringing only 1 pair of shoes for the entire 3 days, they're big and clunky and annoying. Same purse, too. Try reusing items in coords, it'll be good for you.
Seeing as the Ontario thread has just been taken over with this whole OCC v CHG v Mississauga/Toronto thing and seems people are ready to just move on past that and starting talking about the other provinces. Here it is. So what non-GTA or Ontario upcoming convention are you planning to attend?
What exactly is “lolita”? What is it trying to achieve? It is an alternative fashion, obviously. So, then, doesn’t that imply that you dress in lolita as a way of rebelling against some sort of mainstream ideology? Clearly, lolita has counterculture elements. You’re dressing in unusual ways and joining communities for those who share your style. But why? Who are you trying to rebel against? What “culture” does lolita have, and how does your outfit emulate it? Does lolita even really have a culture? Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. For all too many... Comment too long. As lolita is a sub fashion where girls gain reputation and fame by buying expensive things and posting pictures online, it’s not surprising that it tends to attract some bland people. I click the link to a lolitas Tumblr and, about 90% of the time, it’s content is indistinguishable from any other lolitas. Heck, I’m not even going to restrict it to lolita, they look just like most Tumblr pages I’ve seen. I don’t see many girls who make lolita into their main “thing”. For the vast majority of girls within lolita, it’s a side thing. Much of the online comm is made... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Ask yourself this, why are you a lolita? Would you call yourself a lolita, or do you adapt many different substyles for their aesthetic without consideration for the meaning behind it? Are you a lolita because your friends are doing it? Because popular Tumblr girls are doing it? Because it’s an easy sub fashion to gain fame within if you have enough money? It’s almost as if you’re doing this for attention! Hmmm…… When I go to sites that are supposed to be hotspots for lolita elitism, I see a lot of girls shitting on one another for wearing cheap brands or not having... Comment too long. >>8934767 I haven't seen that much hype about neko atsume here but if people are into collecting games and cats, they should get it
I've been using decopic for stickers recently, I'm quite into it though the selection isn't the best and there's in-app purchases (which are partially circumventable). aillis/LINE camera got too confusing with all the name changes and shit

I'm the anon that posted about the sizing question for AP's M and L in the deleted thread and a wonderful anon mentioned there were sizes next to the care tag. I just checked my other AP dresses and I can't find them

>>8944358 imo that's fine. you kind of have to in some cases if you don't want the cops called on you *i'm lookin at you, ryuko* but i think it's fine to alter a design a little bit in general anyways, if it's for stylistic reasons, so maybe my opinion doesn't count
Need some help here! If you can believe it, my friend's looking for a bunnysuit, or perhaps a good method of making one. Since I'm well-known to be the obsessive creep on this subject, she's asking me for help. While I've been looking, I see a lot of flimsy ones being sold online, and yet a lot of pretty cosplayers who've pulled their suits off very well.
Mostly I lurk here for the dresses, but would anyone happen to have experience with these bunnysuits, or have a good way of going about making one? Maybe even know a place to buy a nice one?... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>8943375 I am! Animecon in Almelo was the first con I ever attended. I clearly remember all the fun I had with my friends over at both the con and the "alternatief slapen" camping. Naturally, we all went our own ways over the years and this is the perfect occasion to get everyone back together for one final con.

Lowered the price again, I honestly just want this gone so I can start looking for dream items. I'm up to trade it, or partial trade, or anything really. The otks have never been opened, and the dress was only tried on by myself and the previous owner.
Does anybody know if there are any permanent LARP settlements anywhere? I mean there must be some group out there that have bought some land and are LARPing together as a closed community of some kind? It can't be a cult though!
>>8947110 no. It's Peter Pan fighting Robin Hood. And no, there are no such things as a permanent LARP settlements where there are 24/7 larping. There are permanent larp settlements though that are sometimes used, or reenactor villages and such.
Have you ever done something or have something done to you that ruined your j-fashion outfit or cosplay by mistake?

>>8947864 No, I was too frazzled at the time to think about it. I didn't sustain any serious injuries other than my scratches on my palm and knee. Thankfully I was able to get out the mark on my dress, but the tights were not salvageable.
>>8947867 That's messed, anon. Did you go to the hospital?
What's the point of a maid cafe if none of the waitresses are cute? It's no wonder they never took off outside Japan, the girls who sign up are always unwashed weebs in shitty party city maid uniforms. Maid cafe thread?
