Purse haul anon from a couple threads ago, got my knockoffs in the mail today. Hot damn, these are pretty great. Goddamn sturdy bags. The weird shapes are naturally going to be a weakness (the back of the top part of the cross bends a little, as do the points on the bottom of the Horror Bat bag) but the construction is super solid. No loose threads anywhere, all the hardware seems pretty heavy-duty, and the zippers are all set in attractively and securely. The pearls aren't scuffed at all and all the gold components match in tone. The embroidery is solid and doesn't... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Old one but it's made me wary of buying from other people.
>see a pair of Jfashion shoes on ebay >they're used but look in great condition >I win the auction for them at $20 which was way less than the seller wanted for their Buy It Now price >seller promises shoes will arrive in 5 days >I don't get any tracking number but it's ok because the seller lives in the state above me so I know it won't... >>8783859 back with glasses (and a hat block, that's the pink thing they're sitting on). Started with shitty $3 eBay sunglasses, cut them up, reshaped them, and soldered them back together. First time soldering, only burned myself once, fuck yeah! No lenses yet because I'm trying to figure out if they should be orange-tinted to suit the ref image for the particular outfit I'm making, or clear as per his default look. I feel like amber would contrast nicely with all the blue gemstones on the coat.
Buster Rifle for my Gundam Wing Zero Custom is nearly complete. Needs a few more details, paint, and adding the electronics for the lights in the scope. The two halves are magnetic so it can be split into the two separate rifles.
It really depends on what you are planning to use it for. I find 8mm thick MDF (or 12mm if you are going tall) to have the perfect balance between strength, weight and most importantly, price. It's also extremely easy to work with when compared to real wood.
However MDF comes with some major downsides. As it basically is compressed and glued together saw dust, it doesn't really allow itself to be filed or sanded down smoothly. This makes adding smooth contours or rounded edges a real pain in the arse when compared to say, alder wood. MDF also requires a lot... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Well AP just announced a surprise release of one of their most popular prints. I for one am glad I saved up, this is going to be a bloodbath and a half. Do you think they'll pull the same shit that they did with Holy Lantern and make over 9000 MTOs?
Decided to be a "Cosplay Medic" for my next con. I fix/build shit all the time and wanted to utilize my talents at my next costume and fix peoples costumes, no charge. I love cons, but it only takes 1 wardrobe malfunction, or a faulty wire to ruin someones costume and ruin their fun. I want to make sure people have a good time and not worry about their costume or prop faltering.
Main question: What sort of costume issues do ya'll deal with during cons? torn fabric, broken pieces, things not working as advertised? what kind of costume or prop issues have... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>8939768 I've rushed to the cosplay medics at cons I've gone to to use their hot glue guns to fix some armor. They had the high temp one so it went fast. Safety pins and bobby pins and hair ties. Super glue. One person next to me used one of those glasses repair kits for something. Those little sewing kits. For makeup probably sealers and powders. A lot of tape (masking/garment/duct). Scissors.
Glue of all kinds. It'd be cute to get a bandoleer and stick all sorts of different glue bottles in there. Hairspray or got2b for wigs are also a quick, easy thing to have on hand.
Also, I hope that image is just a stock thing you found and not what you're really wearing.... something about it just screams "sexy nurse" as opposed to someone fixing cosplays out of the goodness of their heart.
Definitely a different scene for sure, and honestly the guest list this year is not that great. We had Anthony Mackie last year (who at the time was still pretty second or third tier). I go since usually they're pretty good about having a good comic artist/writer guests.
Overall pretty much nothing like Sakura con in terms of cosplay or party scene and can get pretty boring really fast otherwise. Personally am looking forward to getting some stuff signed, but then I'm just going to meet up with some out of state friends afterwards.
I have a close friend who is working on a Kamen Rider cosplay, this is his first time working on something this big and I'm finding it hard to tell him that hiss cosplay is pretty crappy. He even went as far as to ask people for money on gofundme, asking for $150.00 to buy supplies and a belt.
>>8936770 My boyfriend wears lolita with me to meets and gets along well with everyone at meets. We're not in the Atlanta comm though so maybe they're a little different but were in Georgia still. I think you'll be fine as long as you don't act creepy.
>>8936770 First, this >>8936786 Next time post in the damn comm thread. Second, no. They don't care. One of the prominent members is a trans woman so they're really not going to care about you. Just don't look like a sissy ita and you'll be fine.
Having watched this thing from conception I'm surprised that thing is still limping along. Probably thanks to the staff members that arent Mike or his gang of fools, and to those that keep that thing alive color me actually impressed.
Dashcons problem was honestly that they aimed to high to fast. Having read a lot of the logs from people involved along the way (and most of whom stepped out when they realized where shit was heading) they didnt know enough about how to run a con, and decided to aim for a big con...
