>New episode means more lazy Peridots who don't want to make the limbs
>Any solid Sardonyx cosplays yet?
>What SU cosplay plans do you guys have?
I plan on making a periot cosplay for next May. I hope she gets a new (and cute) redemption outfit.
I don't think not making the limbs is lazy. You still have to put in effort to make a good cosplay, just like any other gem outfit.
Everything posted is pretty terrible bar this one; >>8631997
Myself and a friend have Peridot and Jasper on the list after we both work out a bit. And when we're both confident in our abilities. She's ace with body paint and I'm pretty great with wigs so we'll both work on them together. I also wanted to make a trail of Peri's little robot buddies.
not a selfpost, i just suck at 4chan
>What SU cosplay plans do you guys have?
I'm wearing Rainbow Quartz to AWA tomorrow but looking at the weather forecast it looks like I'm going to have to go without face/body paint, which is a shame because I was so excited to do it. I suppose that I shouldn't risk wearing paint since the rain would fuck it up.
I think it could look nice if she extended the green all the way down, but I agree ending it short is odd.
I really like the dress on this Rose Quartz and the volume is on the wig is almost right
to save everyone from looking up if that's accurate
red paint seems like it has the most potential to get weird if it's applied wrong
she is at least somewhat taller than steven
I'm so glad that Peridot is so small and has such an easy under outfit. It'll make walking around conventions so much easier and it makes me feel better about being so tiny out of the platform legs.
Purridot anon from last thread. I just wanted to ask, does that sound like a dumb idea? I was inspired by how cat-like she acted in the catch and Release episode. I still haven't designed anything yet, but I wanted to know if it sounded cute or not. I was thinking cat styled limb-enhancements, but I'm short enough to pull off puny Peridot.
Even if you took a green 2 liter soda bottle, and cut it up, that would still look better painting it on if you ask me. I'm saying it would look good, just better than painting it on.
Yeah, I think the only thing that stopped a lot of lazy Peridots from cosplaying is the limbs (not that there aren't already a ton of bad ones), but now that there's a version where you barely have to put in any work to the costume, there's going to be swarms of limbless Peridots acting like they're the cutest thing.
Fun stuff for Peridot! It turns out that those yellow spots on her knees are actually part of her stockings, not the boot, so Kneepads can be eschewed or worn underneath. Might save some trouble.
That whole group is pretty great.
her Peridot is really cute too
he says he used this video
Can someone who saw her in person explain what is going on here? Is she standing on a block or just INSANELY leggy/wearing stripper heels? IMO her feet should be hitting the first tier of skirt if that.
This is them too I think
this is another case where i would pay to buy her a better cosplay. she has good potential (her body and face are good for sugilite) but needs so much work
The saddest thing about Rose is that she gives chubby people a nice, pretty character to cosplay to prove their cosplay skills where people can't complain about their weight, but 99% of Rose cosplayers are just fucking garbage.
I'm also quite fond of this one. although I don't know the sauce.
might have been glued on but then came off at the con. Still, the tape could have gone on the back
something similar happened to me but I was able to glue some old bus tickets to the back and it worked pretty well
For some reason, that particular Peridot (visible here on the far left) was always leaning back and showing her left side. Not sure what was up with that. Nice cosplay, though!
probably just how she decided to pose. I've done some weird shit like that before when I thought something would look good but didnt do test photos. Now I know to at the very least alternate poses sometimes in case one looks shitty always
Has anyone made a rose sheild out of something semi-transparent yet? I always thought of rose's sheild as being made of something see-through, but everyone seems to make them solid (understandably because it's easier).
>That sapphire's dress is perfect, holy crap.
This is her with Ruby from the same shoot.
It was a great turnout - there were three Sadies and even the little pink whale! Unfortunately, it seems that none of the Pearls at the con got the memo - not a single one of them showed up until after we were done.
TBH I feel like this would look better with a petticoat on top, both to round out the shape to make it less of a lampshade and to hide the hoop bones. I do like how cartoony the top half looks though.
Thankfully not a selfpost; I trawl the local con tags and occasionally repost shit here. I thought the concept was humorous.
omg im the peridot and i knew i was gonna look gross in that pic but i was like eh whatever its just a random hallway photo who cares
and then of course it ends up being one of the photos that got popular-ish lmao i fucked up
>all my friends keep telling me I'd make a great Sadie because I'm a slightly chubby blonde
>aiming for a cosplay slightly more ambitious than "donut shirt"
>would rather do a Rainbow Quartz but don't know if my hourglass is pronounced enough
>been exercising and dieting but no idea on the timing for weight loss by possible cons
Are shaping clothes any good under leotards or are the lines too apparent? My waist is pretty small relative to my general weight but I don't know if I'd like it straight-up in something skin-tight
I wore the WYOB singlet from Maidenform under my Evangelion plugsuit and it's really great! As far as visible lines, the only visible lines that I got were from wearing too many bras at once pffft. If you make the leotard so it covers the bodyshaper well, I think it should be fine!
My body's aite (I could do with more fitness, of course), but I always wear spanx under anything skin-tight because it gives that extra sense of security. When I asked a few years back, /cgl/ recommended this:
- and it's worked pretty well. The lines show up a little, but if your fabric isn't tissue-thin, it's not too noticeable. I get a ~1-inch waist reduction with it, but it's nice for getting rid of major body lumps.
Aw thanks :)
On a side note, can't wait to cosplay Peridot's new design! I'm still remaking the old version for next year but this version can at least be done sooner and will be nice for times when I want to be able to do stuff without a handler.
Shit, I didn't check the link before posting and when I went back to the website to grab you a new one, I found that Spanx apparently brought out a new version of it (now called their "Higher Power Short") that people are really dissatisfied with.
The original product was called the "Spanx In-Power Line Super Higher Power," which is a godawful mouthful but it gets you some third-party sites (like Amazon/Zappos/Nordstroms). Good luck with whatever shapewear you decide to go with!
Mixed feelings about this rose. The wig needs so much touching up but it has a good volume and the dress is actually pretty good but something about the whole thing feels off.
It was her wig and the star cutout, but her dress is the best one Ive seen so far. I've said it before and I'll say it again
how would pearl makeup like this work IRL?
i think that light pinkish skin with blue blush is kinda reminiscent of an actual pearl.
Diff anon, but I think the skirt isnt too bad actually, just that the hems could use some work and the whole thing could use a good ironing. Thats probably the only redeemjng point, but her bodice pattern is very strange as well as her horrid fabric choice. This dress is pretty shitty, but I wish more Roses patterned their skirt like this, except with more tiets.
How can I jump to a conclusion about what my personal favorite cosplay is? All other Opals I've seen have had garbage wigs and weird proportions. Her light contouring doesn't bother me and shoop or not, this is a nice photo.
Stupid question because I guess I'm an idiot, but how can you tell it's overly shooped? I see where she blended the armsock wrinkles out of the neckline, elbows, and wrists but other than the filter what are the signs you're looking at?
Different anon who is not invested in this argument. You're the only one acting like a cuntface here - most people tend to agree that people with shitty skills and/or products should not be putting out tutorials on how to mimic their bad behavior. Chill.
I fucking love the whale who did tiger businessman.
+1,000,000 worthless points
>Anyone have any other good older Greg cosplays?
Huh... the irony is the guy I saw at AnimeFest this year who looked most like older Greg wasn't actually cosplaying at all. Naturally, I didn't take a picture (big obvious camera and all) of him.
Did get this one, though, along with Rose, Stevonnie, Peridot, Jasper, Steven, Lion, and Sardonyx.
How is her skin nasty? Because she has a few zits? I have really bad acne despite trying just about everything on the market for acne (been to a bunch of different derms). Grow the fuck up honestly
What do you guys think of these wings? It looks like she used plastic.
would this be a good base wig for rose? im thinking of buying a few of these and splicing them together to make her hair. i really like the color
Her skin looks dirty. Not just because of acne. Stop trying to defend this shitty RQ because I'm sick of seeing her and sick of her trying to make tutorials and (kek) take commissions for her garbage cosplays
>"Wow, this is great!"
>she didn't hem it
Love it from the neck down.
She's got some snags but that's an unfortunate reality of delicate fabrics in floor-length garments, and her sword is pretty.
Plastic or nylon+wire frame?
Wish she didn't have heels but other than that I really like this.
Stark white hair on Jasper and Amethyst kills me inside
Cool pic, what's up with her waistband?
>toothpaste spittle mirror
I've always been struck by how plain canon Rose's eyes are. This glamour kawaii bullshit doesn't work.
Working on the master copies for casting resin and clay gems. If all goes well I should have these up for sale within a week I think.
Peridot isn't rounded enough but it could just be the angle here. If it's not warped like that in order to fit on a forehead then it's definitely wonky. Pearl seems really big compared to the others especially if it's supposed to fit on someone who isn't NPH
Yeah the Peridot gem has a curved back. Here is the front view. Pearl seems about the right size to me (5.5cm x 4cm), especially considering how big it is in canon, but if the general consensus is that it's too big I could get a smaller one printed. Thanks for the feedback.
i liked this peridot's idea of covering the limbs in vinyl, not sure how it would look with the rest of the outfit, though
Yeah, I like how the limbs look too! I was thinking of how it might look like a sort of uhh plugsuit from EVA or something. Since I'm just doing Tinydot, I thought it might add some pizzaz
The Pearl gem I've used is 30x40mm, and it fits nicely on my medium-large forehead. 55x40 would cover most of the vertical space on my forehead and not leave any space for my wig hairline. Someone with a smaller forehead wouldn't be able to use it.
I think the problem you're running into is that canon Pearl has a receding hairline, but no one is going to modify a wig and shave their own head in order to accomplish that and still have space of skin around their gem.
>not having a single curl in rose's wig
chipped-chestnut's Jasper continues to be hot. Gosh, what a gal.
I love how mad you're getting over this.
Ahaha, I really want to do a Lapis and Jasper cosplay with my tiny girlfriend but she's not quite that in to Steven Universe. Even our dance experience would be perfect! I would totally drill aerials if it were for cosplay.
Same anon again.
Maybe making something between those sizes or offering two sizes (small and large) would be helpful? Something closer to 45mm tall might be good.
Though I have a bit of a tall forehead my head overall is fairly small, and 30x40mm works pretty well. Though it is smaller in proportion to my head than Pearl's, but as I said, she also has that receding hairline.
Measuring against myself, I think that 45 or even 50 mm tall would be a good middle, though 50 is getting close to being too tall on me.
I think that more opinions would be good so you can get an average forehead size.
thought this lapis was cute too
My friends are trying to convince me to do this version of Amethyst and I can't say it's not tempting
Some things could've been done differently but i think rose suits her!
Holy shit anon please do it
