I was reading a book the other day and I came around something that made me wonder. Why is it, that when fish was served at feasts back in the, they used to place the fish head on a plate at the table?
I've read about this over the years, but I started asking myself why this last reading.
It it to show that it was fish and not something else? To show that it was fresh? Why did they do it?
Asian here, we still do this. That is, the guest gets the fish head to show respect. It's just that white people have lost their heritage and the closest thing they have to having anything resembling pride in their own culture is when they complain on the internet that minorities are why they're not a winner.
On this kind of salami, are you supposed to eat or peel off that skin/wrapping/casing that is around the salami?

How do I make a pie where the pastry is soft? I've eaten pies before where only the top is flaky, and the pastry on the bottom is soft, almost with the consistency of a dumpling.

That's Francis in the picture. The voice over is supposed to be Chef's daughter, off-screen somewhere, not the voice of the dog. Chef is the lady, who is also at death's door. Her daughter is probably a human.

I... really do not like coffee, but my favored tea just doesn't have enough caffeine in it for me.
Tomato. The taste overpowers virtually everything it's in for me and makes everything taste like rusty water, but it's in so many foods that people make for guests that I've long since given up telling a host that I can't stomach it.
The only exceptions are ketchup and cheap pizza sauce because they've been processed and seasoned beyond recognition.
