You're having a party and need to serve 3 - 7 different Hors d'oeuvres.
What are you serving?
Bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers covered in pepper jack.
Triple creme cheese on rosemary crackers topped with fig jam
Deviled eggs made with homemade sweet zucchini relish and topped with candied bacon.
Avacado turkey rolls with garlic
Cheesy bread with green onion
Thought I might as well post some of the dishes I'm considering before narrowing it down. Which do you think sound appetising and which sound shit?
>Chicken Karaage bites
>Bacon wrapped Scallops
>Turkish bread with Guacamole, Baba Ghanoush and Hummus
>Spicy Potato Skins

>What the fuck is wrong with Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Wyoming
whats your favorite food?
>Rib eye steak
>Slow roasted Lamb
>Chocolate fudge brownies
>Lamb Vindaloo or Madras
>Horse Mackerel Sushi
>Grilled Chicken Portugese style
>Chocolate chip cookies
Those are the ten things that come to mind. I'm clearly a food pleb but I don't care.
I've only got about $180,000,000 to last me to the end of the month, for food.
What can I do?
>tfw I unironically spend about $80 on groceries each month
Why did tomato saucéd bread with cheese become such a dominant food?
Just got a big ass bag of chicken thighs from costco and I'm going to try meal prep this weekend.
Any tips to avoid fucking up 16 chicken thighs in one go?
Wtf is this shit on my lamb?
do I need to pay for a cooking class to learn how to cook, or can I just watch youtube videos? if the latter, what series would you folks recommend?
Jesus OP just go pick up cheap cookbooks at a yard sale or goodwill and get yourself started that way. Don't pay for a class. Cooking classes are for bored old rich women who think learning how to zest a lemon is an exotic accomplishment. Don't ask anyone here for YouTube recommendations they're just going to throw you at shit.
Okay /ck/ what is the easiest alcoholic beverage to make with little to no extra equipment?
I just got a tofu press and used it to try making a tofu steak (pic related). It was pretty good, but still doesn't hold a candle to the amazing ice-tofu and other variations that I've had at Chinese restaurants.
How do they do it, /ck/? How can I into delicious Chinese tofu? Or other good tofu preparations, for that matter.
I don't know what the fuck tofu on ice is but try getting tofu skins or those dried soybean chunks at asian markets to mix things up. Or cut your pressed tofu, fry it and toss it in sauce and make general tsos tofu. Use actual good breading not just cornstarch. FUCK every Chinese place that just rolls it in cornstarch.
Why not just make an actual steak? Why waste time trying to reshape and reseason tofu into meat?
Does anyone actually cook?
My grocery store keeps yams with the misted produce instead of with the potatoes. They don't get soaked, but most of them are all a little wet anyway. Should I complain or does it even matter?
would it be a waste of time to heat this on the stove or would it improve it?
What kind of 0 or low calorie foods can easily suppress appetite?
Coffee does the trick but only if I keep it at two big cups a week or else my body gets used to it
What's some good healthy meals that can be cooked up on one of these? Going to be homeless for around a month
Pretty much anything dood, whats more important is having access to fresh water to clean your pots and or pans
If you have a cast iron skillet, you can get by with rags or paper towels though
Anyone else eat pickles and milk?
cheapest way to begin gaining weight? Doesn't have to be healthy but I'm also not going to give myself the betus or any of that.
Why does the corner piece always taste like wasabi? How is the wasabi able to penetrate the plastic grass shield?
What's the hottest thing you have ever eaten?
I just ate 8 wings slathered in this
Anyone else find ketchup to be a delightful helper? I like to add it to soups and sauces, it basically accomplishes the same thing as a bit of tomato paste and sugar would.
Anyone on /ck/ have experience with eating bugs and grubs? What did you have and what did it taste and smell like?
I have never eaten bugs, but I did pick up a tin of korean silkworm pupa from the nearby asian food shop. The thought of eating a freshly fried worm sounds okay, but worms that have been stewing and softening in a can of water sounds really rank.... especially imagining how the internals may squirt in the mouth when chewing. Going to be rinsing, soaking, marinading and then baking to a crisp to make them crunchy.
what the inside of the can looks like. I took this picture from elsewhere but it looks the same as my can.
It smells very unique, nutty and caterpillary. Doesn't smell as bad as what some people online have claimed. Will be soaking them for an hour.
Gonna be making some kvass with my friends soon, anyone here done it before? Gonna be adding blueberries, orange, ginger and mint into it, what are some other recipes you've tried?
I only have about $1000 to last me until the end of the month. What do I buy so I don't starve? I'm not a very good cook.
How many of you drink actual water on a regular basis? I started doing it just recently (bottled water) but it's just so tasteless and boring.
How to get used to drinking water, /ck/? Do some of you even drink tap water?
What do you think?!
What should I put in my lentils bowl?
t. poorfag and /fit/fag
Cook in a pot with onions, garlic, mustard seeds and tomatoes if on hand. Spice with curry, coriander, cumin. No salt. Toast that in oil on medium. When it starts to smell amazing, add water and bring to boil until it's all soft.
Don't add any salt or it makes them tough
I missed lunch today and didn't eat all that much last night. So I'm starving and getting off work in about an hour.
What do you guys think I should get?
So I only have one small Dutch oven but I had two pots of beans to cook. In a few hours, I will know whether a dutch oven even makes a difference at all compared to a cheap flimsy metal pot. Anybody interested in side by side results? I suspect that both experiences will ne identical.
In what foods does a dutch oven actually make a difference and how?
I was told that they hold heat more evenly than thin pots, though I don't think my beans are going to know the difference. They're almost done, and both batches took the same amoumt of time and both are at the same level of doneness.
Post good food feels
>Stuffing myself on carbs after a week of being broke and surviving only on cheap chicken and leftovers
Reminds me of that time I stepped into the supermarket on my way home from my shitty under the table job and the big skittles bags were accidentally priced as the small ones so I bought 12
>go on alcohol bender for a few days
>when the hangover finally settles and I can eat properly again
That first meal after basically not eating for 3 days is usually amazing. Got a pizza in the oven right now and i'm gonna munch the fuck out
So just came home to a guy standing outside my house saying that he accidentally ordered a dominos pizza to my house (he's already paid). I said I'll tell him when it turns up. I go inside and my housemates have already started eating it!!! Should i join in?
