Which cut of porkchop is best?
I prefer at least an inch thick.
I like thick most of the time, bone-in, on the grill.
But, sometimes there's deliciousness in thinly sliced chops, such that you get 2 per serving, and lots of browned stickiness on both sides, especially if you cornmeal dust it, that could burn if you cooked them longer.
What are your taco day plans?
shit, I found out it was national taco day about 2 hrs ago and got excited. hit up some friends but they've either already eaten or have other food plans.

So what did /ck/ eat during university/college? Give recipes if you feel like it as im pretty sure my pot noodle and chicken diet is going to kill me soon.
I lived almost exclusively off bagged salad, tesco meal deals, green tea and cheap beer.
Supplemented with a lot of Greek yoghurt, skyrr and anything I found in the reduced section of tesco.
Actual mashed potatoes with cream or butter is easy.
Boil water in the nukebox.
Add the potatoes.
Boil in the microwave again.
Lid the container you boiled the potatoes in and let them finish cooking by the steam of their own residual heat.
Mash the potatoes and whip in butter or cream.
Salt to taste.
I had that with either smoked sausage or hamsteak and either buttered spinach or buttered Brussels sprouts from time to time.
Fakemeout microwave pilaf made with instant rice tasted quite nice.

Ive been trying to make macarons but i havent been able to get the texture of the cookie right. Ive done multiple batches. I dont fill them with a filling because im trying to perfect the cookie before getting into filling them. They have the feet but when you bite into one the cookie itself doesnt have the melt in your mouth (although it does have the delicate crunch of the outer skin) also a the cookie keeps getting stuck on the teeth (similar to sugar candy).

I whip the meringue to stiff peaks, do i have to whip them past it? Can it be a problem with my folding technique?

I'm 29 years old and i've never eaten any fast food item from mcdonalds besides the chicken nuggets and fries. Never a hashbrown, never the pancakes, never had a burger (period, much less from mcdonalds).
It just never really popped up in my childhood because mcdonalds was a once in a blue moon kind of special occasion, normally my parents would cook. I just don't see the appeal, really. The nuggets are alright but I can taste the addictive shit they put in there when I eat it.

Not really sure but the one memory that always stands out to me is going to a small local restaurant with my family as a child and the orders were taking a very long time, so my parents asked a waitress and it turned out they'd lost our order. They took it again and gave us a plate of fries to keep us happy while they rushed it through. Then we watched as the waitress dropped all our food about 3 feet from our table and it had to be made again.
Worst was a waitress giving us the bill while pointing out that "service isn't included in the bill" and just standing there waiting for her tip

I live in Vegas and we have these bars called Steiners. Seriously good food and decent beer selection.

Unless you've lived with isolated indigenous groups in Mexico, nothing that you've ever eaten is indigenous to Mexico. What the world knows as Mexican food is a synthesis between Spanish and indigenous cuisine. In other words, Spanish techniques and indigenous ingredients.

Here's a loaf I made yesterday. 100% whole wheat, 68% water, 5% molasses, 2.5% salt, 0.2% yeast. Milled the flour fresh from hard red winter wheat berries. Enjoying the new mill a lot. Mixed in walnuts and topped with a mixture of roughly milled rolled oats, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, and pumpkin seeds.
